Al Pacino Italy in Colchester

Fabulous food, freshly cooked. If you want proper Italian food, I recommend it. I had seafood spaghetti and the shellfish were all cooked perfectly. It’s obvious that quality ingredients are a priority. The wine was excellent too. A bit on the quiet side so no need to book.

Found this Italian off the High Street, very stylish. We had a busy day and just fancied pizza. Good selection and very nice. My husband's did have chillies which were extremely hot, but you can never tell as even the ones I grow vary greatly from chilli to chilli. Didn't spoil his meal as easy to pick off.

Excellent food, lovely surroundings and good service. Lovely location next to Castle Park. Would definitely visit again!

We booked this restaurant for my daughter’s 40th. We were a party of 21, we gave the restaurant more than a month to get things right. Preordered all the meals weeks in advance. Our food did not get served until 1 hour 30min after we arrived. They run out of some drinks straight away. When the food arrived, the side orders did not arrive until we had eaten the meal. Some of the food was cold.The staff did not know what they were doing.

Really nice meal, reasonably priced and a nice outside seating area. Service was good - attentive enough but not bothering us, leaving us to enjoy the meal - Calamari Calzone, Carbonara, honeycomb cheesecake special and homemade Tiramisu which was a generous portion, moist and really tasty. Will Def be back and would recommend to others.

Poor quality food, bland tasting and undercooked food. Well overpriced for the quality. Had high hopes for an authentic Italian dish.

We went with friends for a quick evening meal. The waitress was inexperienced however very polite. The table had only one glass for water, the lighting was way too bright and the music in the background although modern pop is not what you would expect in an italian restaurant. Food to be fair was good although our plates did not arrive on the table together. Change the lighting and music, provide some training for your staff and we would definitely try again.

They took 3 days to answer the telephone and never responded to 2 attempts at an email booking to finally book the table for 7 people. When we arrived we had to wait 5 mins as they were too busy to deal with us and whilst we waited a member of management was shouting very loudly at the staff in the bar about sending plates out with blood on them and then stormed past us and out of sight. We were then told they had given our table to a larger party and that they could push a couple of tables together in the bar to accomodate us ! We clearly did not stay and will never return. Outragous behaviour

Sadly hugely disappointed. The decor is awful with an abundance of very cheap, dusty plastic flowers, old peeling masking tape on the windows (not sure why it’s on the windows), Christmas menu still in the toilets (it’s 2 months since Xmas), Xmas decorations still up in the restaurant, 5 or 6 random yellow chair covers half on/ half off some chairs, cobwebs on stairway lights …….. The entire restaurant needs a clean up and refresh. My pizza was so burnt on the underside and dry. My finances ordered extra topping and didn’t get any more than a normal amount of topping. Service was very slow at lunchtime with only people at 6 tables. We won’t be going again.

I will be recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a lovely meal in Colchester. We were a party of 3 adults and a 1 year old. Nothing was too much trouble from arranging a booster seat to helping us pacify our grumpy unwell little one. The food was delivered in well timed intervals, the appetiser of focaccia and olives was very tasty, my starter of calamari and salad was delicious, it came with a lovely garlic aioli dip. But my main dish of steak with Stilton with sautéed potatoes was the highlight of the meal. I asked for medium rare, it was prepared exactly how I asked. It was so tender and tasty. I was extremely pleased with my choices. We will definitely return to this restaurant and I am certain we will have the same 5 star service and food that we had tonight.

Food was amazing and portions were huge. They were very accommodating with my daughter who has been suffering with teething and she isn’t feeling they put on some baby lullabies to help her off to sleep and even offered to babysit. We have all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we will definitely be back.

Really lovely food and the atmosphere was great. We had a works Christmas do there and unfortunately had a couple of people that were a bit loud at times, but the staff and service was brilliant and the management were very obliging with everyone Would highly recommend

I had the chicken escalope, was delicious but my husband's steak was succulent and tasty and just how he likes it. The whole meal was a lovely experience. I love the fact I can have little toasties too. Live music to entertain as well. The place is very authentic. Service very good. This place is right by the castle too. Lovely.

Started with a wonderful garlic bread pizza which we complimented the staff on…then it all went downhill my husband ordered chicken livers which were nice however I’ve never known an Italian restaurant serve boiled potatoes…one of my daughters ordered arribiatta which was tasty although never have I been anywhere where the have olives in it…no drama she just left them. I ordered lasagne which was cold in the centre and my other daughter chicken escalope which although stated it was served with sauté potatoes came out with Luke warm boiled potatoes we waited patiently for our dishes to be rectified it was clear at this point my lasagne had been remicrowaved and by daughters boiled potatoes fried off leaving her chicken escalope dry and tough! It was served with a cold sauce too. To add insult to injury the lady who was in charge was extremely rude and disrespectful for a restauranteur to act in such a way was simply appalling and they even had the audacity to put the lasagne which I then didn’t want to eat on the bill a great shame as prior the this saga we all said we would definitely return for pizzas!

Traditional Italian family run restaurant with authentic cuisine. There's also a good kids menu that has some standards kids needs like burger or fish fingers along with little meatballs or pizza to provide choice for all the family. We found all meals reasonably priced and ample portionsized, with a table of completely clean plates and dishes at the end and everyone full and happy. We've been a few times now and it doesn't disappoint

Literally 5 minutes away from our hotel but was very warm inviting and welcoming Staff friendly chef was wonderful had a little courthouse when the sun was shining where you could sit outside and enjoy the scenic views and the food was amazing definitely a little gem of a place would definitely recommend, and reasonably priced
