Fantastic room. Very comfortable and clean. Amazing contact with the host. They have a restaurant below, which you receive a discount for. We already had a meal booked elsewhere, so I can't comment on the food, but it looked very nice when we saw other guest's orders coming out to them.

food took an hour to arrive on a dead saturday night, staff were not bothered at all. so sad it used to be fab here

Brunch was lovely. We don't often say it but it was really worth the price. Chefs know what they're doing! The rest of the staff also very nice. Point taken off for one of the toilets - lights go off a couple of minutes after going in and it's impossible to trigger them back on. Toilet roll miles from the toilet! The toilet seat way too small for the toilet size and not fastened to it at all - be prepared to slide on it all over the place. It was clean though.

I have been going to this restaurant for 1 year and never disappointed! The service is amazing and the food is perfect! I would highly recommend! 😍😍😍

Fantastic pizza restaurant, went for my sister's 22nd and the team went the extra mile. Delicious food (including vegan menu) and amazing cocktails. Chef showed my son how the pizza's were made, which made his day.

Previous visits to cuckoo dough have been amazing with great food and service however on this occasion I feel I have a lot to complain about. I was told certain items could not be ordered and then told they could be after ordering an alternative. A member of our party had a food intolerance and this wasn’t picked up on for any further dietary needs assistance despite ordering a meaty pizza with vegan cheese! Then when it came to paying the bill, I was overcharged and then bought change when I questioned this to replace what I had overpaid. I still paid the 10% service charge despite the shocking service. We weren’t at any point offered further drinks, we had to ask for a dessert menu and clean cutlery for our mains. Unfortunately this poor service overshadows the amazing food cuckoo dough is known for and for this reason we won’t be returning in a hurry. The two stars given are purely due to how nice the food was.

Went for a friend’s birthday meal, fair prices and okay food. Didn’t blow me away, but was nice. Took a while for pizzas to come out so wasn’t a ‘quick meal’ but friendly staff.

Lovely place, we had the vegan menu and it was delicious. Our 4 year old had the vegan teddy bear pizza which she loved. Our waiter was especially very kind and helpful - and made some great cocktails too! Thank you!

Such a lovely pizza restaurant tucked away in a side street in Colchester. Really loved the choice of pizza toppings, they had some really unique toppings and the pizzas all had fun names! We tried the pistachios and pesto one after recommendation for our waiter and we loved it! The halloumi and calamari starters weee decent too ! Had a lovely person looking after very friendly and helpful and attentive.

Amazing food, ambience and service We wandered through Colchester and stumbled across this place, it’s amazing. The brunch we had breakfast on a pizza (amazing!) and the grandmas breakfast was huge and a lovely mix of fresh food with a delicious yoghurt that our daughter loved. Service was great and they were really accommodating. An Instagram ready swing which added a sense of fun to our daughters brunch and all round lovely atmosphere and hour spent there. A real gem and an asset to the town. Would come back to the town just for a brunch there!

Well what can i say, i had high hopes reading the reviews and i was quite disappointed by it all, the starters were really nice but the mains were not great me and my partner didn't enjoy our meals at all, the service was poor though out, didn’t get much interaction from waitresses in regards to asking if food was okay and if we needed anything throughout a meal, overall bit disappointing meal

I love this place to eat. I have allergies, and my hubby is a little fussy. The staff cater to our every need and have even made us drinks that are not on the menu. The decore is so fun and refreshing. I have been 3 times and have yet to find something I don't like about the place. I would give more than 5 🌟 if I could.

We stopped for a late lunch and they were kind enough to stay open, the place is really fabulous inside, great decor and ambience! Lovely music playing! Cuckoo Dough can be a bit hit and miss, we have had some really enjoyable meals here and some not so. Most recently the service was good and the food was very nice but when our food was delivered I ordered a glass or orange juice which I asked for 4 times across about 30 mins. In the end it was never received and instead of an apology I was just told the bar staff were busy... eventually asked them to cancel the drink but when we went to pay it was still on the bill and the bar staff were chatting and laughing. There were also missing items on 2 out of the 3 dishes ordered which was disappointing. We will go again but fingers crossed it will be a better day.

My daughter always chooses Cuckoo Dough for her birthday lunch and we often have lunch here at weekends. The food was just as good as always, but this time they went above and beyond to make her feel special on her birthday and this was really appreciated. Love Cuckoo Dough!

Me and my boyfriend visit most weekends and absolutely love the food. I, have regularly visited the restaurant with family since opening and this has now become mine and my boyfriends new Saturday breakfast spot over the last year. The staff our super friendly and the food is beautiful. Only once have I had an issue with the food (pancakes on the breakfast/ brunch menu) when I addressed this to the waitress this was resolved without any issue or fuss from the waitress. We are always greeted in a positive and welcoming manner and customer service is always fantastic. We are always excited for our Saturday brunch at cuckoo dough and have become familiar faces to the staff as we continuously attend. Thanks so much to everyone who works here, we appreciate all your hard work and effort you put into making us have such a great experience every weekend!!

Superb pizza. Delicious crust and great value for money. We each made changes to our pizzas and these were easy to do. The service was lovely, with people very genuinely enjoying hearing about how much we loved the food. It was so good, we went back the next day. Just brilliant!

We really enjoyed our pizzas here, they were good quality, well made and very tasty. The garlic mayo was very garlicy which was great. This venue serves cocktails and the one we had was very enjoyable. The vibe of the restaurant is friendly and overall we had an enjoyable meal.

This is a great restaurant, we visited Friday evening on the off chance we could get a table and they managed to fit us in. The pizzas are very good, probably the best we have eaten in Colchester. Starters were also very good, can recommend the king prawns. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our food and had a good time, they were busy so service was a little slow at times but there was a nice atmosphere so we didn’t mind. Will definitely return.

Seems menu has changed. Ordered king prawns which previously came in a gorgeous sauce. No sauce at all this time although says on menu they come in sauce. Much less toppings on pizza too than previous visits 😔

Love Cuckoo Dough. The restaurant is well styled. The service is always 10/10. The food is delish and the cocktails fresh! The food winner on NYE was the Baked Brie with Dessert Cherries OMG and the winning cocktail was the Strawberry Daiquiri with the Lychee one as second. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Couples, friends, with the kiddies or office parties (which we have done!). Well done Cuckoo Dough!

Gluten Free!! Visited here for lunch and chose pizzas. I called in advance to check if they could cater for coeliac dietary requirements and they were really helpful confirming the food was prepared in a separate part of the kitchen and that they cleaned the surfaces down beforehand. They didn’t disappoint! Very knowledgeable and confirmed again when we arrived: the pizza was huge and really tasty. (The other pizzas were delicious too) Thank you for your understanding!

Food arrived late, cold and squashed even though we had paid extra for premium delivery, ie not to arrive cold as we wanted it delivered directly. Very disappointed, food cold, unappealing and salty.

Five of us very much enjoyed takeaway delivery pizzas from here. Each one of us had a different pizza from the menu and we all thought they were good quality and tasty. We highly recommend Cuckoo Dough as a good option for pizza delivery.
