My friends and I had a really nice meal here. The food was delicious, and very nice wine. All for a reasonable price. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating; the restaurant had a very homely feel about it.

A smaller Italian restaurant where I would recommend booking in advance. Food outstanding and made with love. They really care. Fantastic and very natural service. Great menu with classic and some dishes you may not have seen before. Very popular and well known to the locals. Definite a huge recommendation

Came here on my birthday. Although we turned up a bit later in the evening, they were able to accommodate us. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. My partner had the veal and couldn't believe how good it was. Just need to remember to bring more cash with us next time so we can leave a bigger tip.

Booked for our daughter, we were looking through the menu, then the waiter snatched the menu from my daughter and opened it for her as she had folded it in half. Ordered the food and mine was Luke warm. I didn't complain as I wasn't ever coming back. If you expect friendly service and hot food ,,,avoid

Best Italian food my partner and i have ever had. Perfect portions so you can enjoy a 3 course meal. All freshly made and perfectly blended flavour. Service was warm and welcoming. It's a hidden gem and well worth a visit.

We looked at the reviews, and decided on this one. We shared a mixed seafood starter. Delicious and plenty for two. Mains were very tasty and filling and the tiramisu to die for! Highly recommend it!

Took my son here for his birthday. Left it to him to choose and as he wanted pasta what better place than a Italian restaurant. From the starters to the desserts we couldn't fault any of them and that goes for the excellent wine as well. Finished off with coffee and limoncello which took me back to my visits to Sorrento many years ago. A nice ambience and friendly service. Thoroughly recommend and we'll both certainly be returning.

Was very excited to try this based on reviews, but did not live up to the expectations. The waiter seemed inconvenienced by our presence. However - another waiter (chef?) that came out later was much friendlier. The menu selection was great - but the quality disappointing. I had the lasagna - not well seasoned, couldn’t see any herbs, lacking in flavour and meat and swimming in grease. The garlic bread was good, but too much oil. I liked the concept of the interior and it’s lovely it’s a family owned business. However, due to a combination of lack of welcome (complete opposite to some other regular customers) and the poor quality of food - I won’t be going back.

Had a superb meal here. Have to say the service and food were truly scrumptious. It was a very pleasant experience and the owner could not have been nicer. The food was delicious and well portioned. It was a very nice place to eat and would recommend it to anyone 🙂

A lovely little Italian restaurant. Only 10 tables serving good food cooked to order. We went on a Sunday and had their special menu. 3 courses for £14.95 which we thought was very good value. Smaller portions but lovely. Will go again to test out the a la carte.

We were thrilled to discover Miseria & Nobiltà! As Italians, finding authentic Italian food can be a challenge, especially since we are vegan, but this place was a dream come true. They have a fantastic dedicated vegan menu featuring starters, pizzas, pastas, and even desserts! We loved the crispy, golden vegan arancini with their delicious filling. The vegan calzone was really impressive, it was not only bursting with flavour, but the pizza base was also made ‘a regola d’arte’ and was incredibly easy to digest! The handmade gnocchi were also absolutely delicious: properly made Italian gnocchi, with a perfect bite and fantastic Alla Norma sauce. We also had the vegan brownie and vegan chocolate mousse cake and they were both mouthwatering! The warm and inviting atmosphere added to the experience. This a family-owned gem, and Giuseppe and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back and explore more of their delicious vegan options!

Lovely, authentic Italian food. Never too busy and always a nice atmosphere The owners are two brothers from Naples and have made us very welcome every time we visit. We’ve never had a bad meal here and we always look forward to coming back!

I was looking forward to wisit this restaurant for all the reviews were so great. Got there and the waiter was very nice and the restaurant itself very nice. I orderes Pescatori Risotto and my husband ordered a pasta dish I can't remember the name of. When our dinner came it was so obvious that the muscels in my dish were not fresh at all, I started though to eat them thinking that muscels can't always be as fresh as we are used to here in Iceland. But when I had eaten a few I stopped for I just couldn't eat more. My husbands pasta dish was good taisting but the pasta was very overdone a shame in a Italian restaurant. You might ask why I didn't complain... I never complain, if the dish the chef decides to bring to me is to his liking he just will have to read a comment like this later. But as I said before, nice servise and nice looking restaurant. Will not go there again if I visit Colchester

Our first visit, and what a little gem this restaurant is. We had dinner early before an event at the Arts Centre. The server was lovely and very tolerant of my attempt to pronounce 'gnocchi' correctly. The white wine was good value and nicely chilled. Great menu, vegetarians have plenty of choice. Proper Italian food, cooked perfectly and nicely presented, and we never felt rushed. We are now inventing reasons to return to Colchester so we can eat here again.

Great service lovely food, nothing to do with the food but strip the brick wallpaper and replace with brickslips and the interior would be stunning and much more authentic.

nice place to be, airy and clean with lovely staff. It was a little cool. I was taken for Mothers day lunch which was tasty seafood dish of prawn and pasta my Son had the sea bass. Both very satisfied. Lovely fresh well cooked food and Alfredo was a very attentive and friendly waiter but not too attentive. Just a really nice place to be and to eat.

Had lunch here today for the first time with my family - we all had different starters, mains and desserts - all tasted and admired each others - the food was just lovely and the portions just right - the service was great, our waiter was friendly and attentive. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to friends and we can't wait to come back.

I took my mum today for her birthday lunch, I had never heard of the restaurant before but was looking for something that wasn’t your bog standard chain restaurant in Colchester. The reviews looked great so thought we would give it a try and we wasn’t disappointed. We was made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, the guys were soo friendly and chatty and the food was delicious! Loved the gnocchi. Thank you we will be back x

Called in on a very quiet Thursday early evening, and I must say what a lovely little restaurant. I had fritters to start followed by spaghetti with prawns and tomato chilli sauce, and I must say it was all delicious My cousin and her partner both had sea bass , which looked beautifully cooked and very tasty. A real gem of a place Very reasonable price too

This is a genuine Italian restaurant, with authentic Italian food. We bought takeaway pizzas because we couldn't get a table. The pizzas were excellent, although a bit pricey (£32.90 for 3 pizzas in December 2023).

Always good food , you don't wait half an hour between courses as you do in some bigger places. Very friendly family who check that your enjoying meal and have time to chat after. Highly recommend

Went for lunch last Friday and were the only people there for most of the time. One other person came in, a young man who wasn't given a warm and friendly welcome and who ate one dish quickly and left! We've eaten here a few times since it opened several years ago, and it has always been variable and never what was promised initially. Early years meals were good, but standards slipped quickly and our visits became less frequent. We thought we would give it another chance as my husband said there was a new menu and reviews were positive. We booked, but when we arrived to an empty dining room, there was no record of our booking! Obviously it didn't matter. The menu looked interesting and authentic. Having spent a couple of weeks in Italy in September and eaten real Italian food, we were pleased to read the menu. However, the food didn't match our expectations. My arrancini were very dry and hard and without the promised bolognese sauce advertised in the menu. My husband did fare better, and his potato and cheese bake was very tasty, plentiful, and freshly cooked. Main courses came out just about warm on very cold plates. My husband had a chicken escalope which was large but not hot and went cold straight away! My veal was plentiful but very thin and was cold! Little sauce was given. Pasta was also cold and sauce very basic! The roast potatoes I ordered were hot and fresh and the best part of the meal! They were an extra cost. I noted the chef / joint owner was mostly sitting in the dining room planning their Xmas menu with his brother who is the front of house man. On the face of it, very welcoming and friendly until one has to complain. We were asked about the food and I mentioned my arrancini being dry and lacking in sauce, but was told that's how it is! Not in Italy it isn't or in other restaurants in Colchester! Complaints about our cold plates and main courses not being hot were met with annoyance from the chef who contradicted me and said the food and plates were hot! Not a pleasant atmosphere at the end of lunch. I think he cooked all our food at the same time and left our mains on the pass to get on with his planning! We had coffee which was fresh. The lunch was expensive for what was provided. The FOH tried to persuade us to book for Xmas lunch! Afraid we won't be eating there again! A shame as it could be a really good authentic restaurant if they made the necessary effort to get everything right! Sloppy attitudes and contradictions don't encourage diners to return. I hope other people fare better than us!

We wanted to come for a dinner, arrived at 20.30 on saturday and been told that they are closing already despite opening hours are 12-22.30, very disaapointing.

This is by far the best Italian food in Colchester. I have eaten here several times and have learned to order whatever is that night's special (although everything else on the menu is also beautifully done and mouth-watering delicious). The service is great, too -- very friendly and welcoming! I can't recommend it enough!

I’ve scoured the earth to find vegan arancini and all I had to do was walk around the corner to this little restaurant near my home. I can’t believe I’ve only found this place now. It’s kitsch in a nice way and the food was delicious. I will be back to have their arancini and vegan gnocchi.

Decor could do with updating, could have a more cozy Italian vibe going on. Food was awesome, really enjoyed what we had and the waiter was nice and friendly. Great evening

It's no joke to say we've waited 7 years to visit this restaurant and it's been well worth the wait! Amazing carefully put together vegan menu which changes every 4 months so you're never bored for choice. Perfect tasting and authentically created Italian food. Highly recommended!👍

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The food is sublime, and always arrives quickly, the service is friendly and it's great value for money. My partner and I were already planning what we wanted to order next time we visited before we'd even left the restaurant!

We visited on a Friday for a late lunch. Both starter and main were delicious we all had different pasta dishes. Lovely staff who adapted a meat tagliatelle to a veggie one.

We were walking past the other day & we were very hungry. The menu looked lovely so we went inside intending on eating there but as we walked in it STANK of tobacco. I’m sure the food would have been lovely but the smell was so off putting we felt it would ruin the taste of the food as smell and taste are connected. I cannot see anyone else saying this in the reviews so maybe this is a new thing or a one off? But I felt I wanted to give you feedback on why we didn’t stay as the restaurant seemed empty and it’s such a shame as we definitely would have stayed had it not smelt like someone was smoking in there!

This old fashioned family restaurant tries hard to project Italian food values, but misses the mark by offering below standard quality and cooking. We had a fritto misto, which was ok, followed by home made cannelloni and lasagna (home made perhaps, but not well executed...) and some overcooked sword fish with a nice salad. It was a Sunday lunch devoid of any pleasure. Call in Gordon Ramsay!

I was a little suspicious as the place was empty when we walked in. But this is the BEST Italian I have ever been to. The service, the food, is all absolutely perfect. I hope this place stays open forever.

First visit here. And we think we've found our go to Italian Restaurant. Quiet (didn't have to shout to be heard), personal, quite intimate and on top of that, great food and a reasonable price. Definitely going back.

Wife & I (from London) met friends from Woodbridge for lunch in Colchester yesterday. I looked at options for Italian restaurants and selected this one. Proved to be a brilliant choice; wonderful food, including an original speciality main dish. Four very satisfied customers, very friendly staff.
