The Indian curry tasted just like what I used to have in Japan and it was delicious. However, I didn't like the naan because it was a bit too sweet and had a sticky texture, but that's just my personal preference. I was disappointed that we didn't feel very welcomed from the moment we entered the restaurant. They were friendly to other European customers, so it felt like we were discriminated against because we are Asian.

Akash is the place to be for a perfect dinner, very authentic food deliciously made, The staff are really helpful and friendly and I really recommend this place to visit with friends and family.

Delicious food, staff and regulars were extremely friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough! They don’t serve wine but encouraged us to pop to Aldi along the street to get a bottle and they would serve it to us.

It was the only place in London that required cash payment, and the only restaurant I didn't feel comfortable with. After taking my order, I was told to go to the ATM to pay in cash, so I just left. I didn't want to make change on my last evening in London. Is this a place that only accepts cash payments? This was the place I chose for my last evening in London, but I felt sad. The food may be delicious, but I couldn't understand why they said only cash payment was possible. It was very disappointing.

Family friendly, with very good food! Kids (9&6) loved the tikka massalla. Service was friendly and engaging. Everyone left happy. Alcohol was BYOB, but the service opened it and poured for us with no fees, and soft drinks were available.

This is definitely the place to visit for your Indian. Make sure to order the samosa and chicken tikka for starters. The samosa is made exactly like the ones served at the home during the festive periods. Try all the biryani’s, I have. This place has now become my favourite Indian.

Apart from the best food, the service from Muhon was excellent, friendly and he always remembers customers which makes you feel inviting, respected and like a valued customer. I love going there with my best friend and will certainly be spreading the word. Good on ya Muhon for bringing the great service 😊👍🏾

Service was friendly and very good. Food did not disappoint. Meat was very tender and juicy. Lots of flavour and texture. It will cater for those who like spicy or not so spicy food. Restaurant was a little too cramped for me. But cosy and I'm a big guy anyway. I didnt feel uncomfortable once the food started rolling in. Atmosphere was good. Pricing is good for London. Portions are decent. No. 6, 16 bus stop close by and I think they do delivery. I think there is free parking after 6:30pm.

While the ambiance might not be the best, the food is truly exceptional. The service was both friendly and efficient. Despite a relatively quiet night, it was evident that they have a substantial takeaway business. The place seems to be a local favorite, likely owing to its longstanding ownership by the same people for many years. With a base in the area, we plan on making regular returns.

A true gem in London! Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Felt like a guest from the moment I stepped in. The hospitality was amazing. After being seated, I felt like a warm embrace from the atmosphere, it was just soooo cozy. And the food! Just phenomenal. I've had Indian food before, but Akash's food just hit different. Had a range of dishes, and all were delightful and so flavoursome. Truly a fantastic evening all round. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. Keep it up Akash!

Amazing authentic Indian food - would deffo come back again.

It's an absolute amazing place to be with the most delicious food that you'll get to try. Everything on the menu is just perfect, I always visit Akash and have tried all the items and it's just exquisite taste of real home made with care. I really recommend everybody to visit with family friends and you'll receive excellent friendly service from the staff.

This is the best curry house hands down of anywhere I've ever been, literally outstanding and the price is fantastic too. Food is nothing short of sublime. I can't sing its praises enough, your chef is outstanding. Your wait staff are lovely and attentive. My new regular. If your in the area and you love curry, then look no further. I've been to the expensive places and the one in the library. But nothing beats here.

We stumbled on this place and the food was good. The owner was extremely respectful and accommodating. Food felt a home cooked Indian meal.

Couldn’t have picked a better place for a delicious, filling, authentic curry meal for our first night in London. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We did not know this was a BYOB establishment, and when he realized that we’d wished we had known that, he told us to run next door and buy some beers from Aldi - and he saved the table for us! We are Americans and did not know how to properly eat our prawn puri appetizer, so he comically showed us the way. Food was 10/10 delicious. We cleaned our plates - which is rare for us. Maybe we were just hungry from the long day of travel, but I think there is something very special about this place. You will not be disappointed if you visit Akash!

We come to akash often as we live near. It has great authentic Bangladesh Indian food with fresh spices. Always tasty. And friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Fantastic!!! My husband and I came into London from America, he has never had Indian food before. So of course I wanted to take him somewhere authentic. We ordered all of the chutneys, vindaloo, Masala, and naan.. and were not disappointed. Seriously the best Indian I have ever had. And now my husband is a huge fan as well. Do not skip out on Akash. Treat yourself.

We hired Akash out for a private function after a funeral. Akash went out of the its way to ensure that everything was well taken care of - from bringing food through at specific times through to accommodating certain requests by guests on the day. The food they served was excellent and we were very pleased with not just the service, quantity and quality of the food but also how they went out of their way on a difficult day to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you to the team there.

Great dining experience for dinner. You can bring your own wine and/or beer (large Grocery store next door - convenient) and choose from a large selection of dishes. Service, food and cleanliness are all quality. One of my favorite little spots for dinner in London. Dinner with multiple curries, rice, naan, and papadams was £30.

First time back at Akash since before the Pandemic. This was my favourite Indian Restaurant in this part on N/W London. Unfortunately they have made some changes for the worse in my opinion. No alcohol on sale, although you can BYOB that doesn't suit me! I can't help thinking that this must have some effect on the takings. I totally respect and understand if this decision is made on the grounds of religion or the prohibitive cost of obtaining a license but nothing beats eating a great curry with a few beers to wash it down. Personally I don/t want the hassle of having to cart around beer or wine before I go to a Restaurant. Also they have removed the screens between the tables on the left which takes away the lovely sense of intimacy that used to exist, especially considering the location of the Restaurant, tucked away as it is. Having said that the food was as good as ever, although slightly smaller portions possibly. Again not sure if the lack of income from alcohol means economies must be made elsewhere. The service was good and the meal was reasonably priced. All in all I have to say that unfortunately the Akash will no longer be my first choice when I go for a curry.

Food was absolutely amazing, I'm a huge fan of biryani, and I must admit, this was bang on the money. Owner is an amazing character, always smiling and attentive and treating his customer with the up most hospitality, making sure we were looked after. Also the variety of curries was absolutely delicious. I tried to be cheeky and request dishes that were not on the menu and to my sheer delight, they were specifically made the way I would have it at my parents house. If you are looking for authentic traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, head over to Akash, I guarantee you if will end up being your go to place for a taste of the sub continent.

I have been to this place dozens of times and have still not found anything disappointing on the menu or a tastier Indian restaurant in London... I highly recommend the onion bhajis, aloo chaat and many of the starters, even if the main courses are equally delicious.

Food was fine, but nothing to go crazy about. We chose this restaurant as it was in a convenient location to where we were staying.

I visit Akash as much as I can and have only ever had great experiences. Indian is my favourite cuisine and this restaurant is a brilliant example of Indian cookery done really well. Last week when I visited they were completely full, but managed to make up a table outside for my guests and I. Great service, can't wait to go again.

Visited in the evening after a day at Lords cricket ground. Came with a friend who used to visit a lot a few years ago. Service was ok as was the food, my friend however was not impressed and felt the food quality had deteriorated. The meat had not been marinated however the waiter stated it had!! It was ok but probably better curry houses close by.

The food use to be ok here. I went last week and had 3 days of food poisoning which was not ideal. The owner is nasty and I’m going to report his restaurant. We felt he did not like us from the moment we entered. Either way please avoid ! Nasty little man and food that will ruin your week.

Food is very good and good value. I will return again and again. Butter Chicken and Chicken Marsala were brilliant.

Had a lovely early evening meal with my family at this little gem of a restaurant. First time in this part of the city. Was traveling through London and looking to eat Indian food. Found this 4.5 star restaurant but was super disappointed. The service was poor - communication was so bad and no smile or acknowledge that we are there.

We first came to this restaurant when living nearby 35 years ago. We popped in thinking it will have changed completely but no! The restaurant still has the same chef after all these years! The food is wonderful, only fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned.

Akash has been in the Maida Vale area of Edgware Road for over 20 years, the chef and one of the waiters are still there. The place is clean, the food is generous, reasonable and tasty. You have space between the tables, the waiters are friendly, this restaurant has stood the times of restaurants that have come and gone aling Edgware Road.

We don't go to this restaurant enough, staff pleasant, chef been there for years. This was taken over a few years ago, we met the owner, charming man who was doing the deliveries, all hands on. The food is excellent and good value for money.

Vine aquí hace un mes con un amigo y comimos cordero madras un curry de gambas y biriani este era muy bueno! La calidad de la comida era excelente y estaba sorprendido lo bien que estaba aquí.

As a local, Akash has been a favourite of my parents for over 35 years. Having visited the restaurant and making orders for home delivery, the quality of the food and service has always been of a high standard!!!! Highly recommended!!!

I am torn on this review. I really wanted to like this place and the food was great. But the proprieter seems to have anger issues.My family and I came in and were the only patrons. He started out friendly and when he realized we were Americans, his first question was, "What do you think of trump?" I told him that trump was an idiot and a racist, and that I was in a terrible dilemma because I think Hillary is bought and paid for. I didn't really appreciate that. What if I liked him? What if he liked him?He seemed to accept my answer. After we ordered, we heard yelling in the kitchen that escalated into a shoving match with an employee. Another employee (maybe a relative?) had to physically restrain him as the old man continued to scream at the employee. We were all very uncomfortable. After 3 or 4 minutes of this, with the proprietor having to be restrained several times, the employee left and things seemed to calm down.When our food did come, he seemed still angry and placed our dishes down roughly. Both my daughter and I took our dishes from him after a bit just to keep them from being dropped into place.The thing that is funny is that he looks and sounds like an Indian version of the actor in the original pink panther films that played the Chief Inspector. Just imagine that actor trying to kill Clussou and being restrained... and his eye twitching.And here is the dilemma: the food was excellent. I thought it was some of the best I have had. But I don't think I will go back since I just don't want to deal with him. Well, maybe for take out.

I discoverd Akash by word of mouth of some friend living not too far from the restaurant. It's hidden by a staircase but once you find out about it, you will not be disappointed. The food is delicious and authentic with generous portions, and cheap price. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming; I love the 'old school' allure of this restaurant and I am always happy to go back and let friends and family to know about it!

Scruffy little place and no customers in all the time we ate here, basic toilets like going to an out house and the heating provided by numerous portable gas fires.Its an experience, but the main point is the food was really good, right up there with the best curries I've had so dont let the basic look put you off, this was a really very good.I'd revisit again for sure if I was in the area.

Like others, I have been going to the Akash for years - probably since the mid-1980s. But I live away from London now so don't often get the chance to go back. These days, I go perhaps once a year, maybe once every two. Favourite places are a worry - because each time you go back, you run the risk of disappointment. Not here. All that has changed over the years, really, is the decor, which is slightly more sprightly than it used to be. The food is still just wonderful - the staff just as friendly. Even the clientèle looks familiar!The classics are delicious - crisp, fresh, spicy onion bhaji and samosas; lovely alloo chat or chicken tikka starters. An "ordinary" curry like a dansak or vindaloo packed with flavour and good meat in decent portions. And the specials are brilliant too - the Kuku Special curry is zingy and unusual. Yet everything is nicely familiar and just really quality stuff. Breads are lovely - we had a buttery, crunchy paratha last time, but naan and chappati are hot and fresh too. Lovely vegetables - alloo gobi, channa massala ... all good. Just a pity you can't order everything really.I don't know why this restaurant isn't better known and better frequented. Possibly because it's quite hidden away - you need to know it's there, right at the top end of the Edgware Road (before it becomes Maida Vale) at the Little Venice canal. I quite like the fact that you can pretty much always get a table even though it's small - but it deserves to be full every night. In an age where change and novelty seem king, this place is just as an Indian restaurant should be - consistent, reliable, delicious, friendly and pleasant. Go. You won't regret it.

We hadn't been to Akash for qges, we are glad we went. The flpd is much nocer than years ago, it is tasty, good value and good portions. The staff are really nice. It is a litle hideaway in Edgware Road

Akash was clean, the staff were very welcoming and the food was very fresh. Admittedly I was the only person eating in but even so the food was good. My chicken chatt starter was well cooked and a typical chatt dish, the jalfressi again was a traditional dish well cooked. No frills just good food served well and quickly; what's not to like?
