We were visiting locally and staying in Cinderford and the Akash was recommended. There was no parking so we parked in the hairdressers next door which was closed. When we got to the front door we almost turned around a blown front window that probably hasn’t been cleaned for 10 years ,plastic flowers in the window that had an inch of dust I could go on and on . But we stuck with it. By the end of the starter we were pleasantly surprised and starting to have a different view. By the end of the meal we all agreed that it was probably the best Indian we’d ever had. And we’ve had a few. The fact that they don’t serve alcohol didn’t distract from that . This would’ve made a great dine in the dark.

Having had our takeaway curry’s from here for 20 years, I can honestly say they are the best! My husband says no where else can beat their Tandoori Chicken Biriyani !! It’s always piping hot and presentation is always good.

Amazing place will always want to come back always thought it was best around and still do, never disappoint

We visited Akash yesterday, and wanted to express how amazing the food and service was. The staff were very welcoming and incredibly friendly and we ordered several items including a tandoori mixed grill, prawns and sheek kebab wrap (which were all seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection). The food was packed full of flavour, spice and had a lovely aromatic fragrance. I would highly recommend this local gem in Cinderford and I will definitely be going back with family and friends in the future!

I was given a warm welcome as I walked in and the service was great throughout. My order came out very fast and the food was amazing. The chicken tikka and kebab starters have got to be one of the best starters I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend, amazing food!!

The food and customer service was excellent extremely friendly staff. Really welcoming people and willing to help always will definitely go back again with my family.

Our experience was just excellent .The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly.The venue was spot on and best of all the food was excellent full of flavour and clearly cooked by a talented chef. Everything was very reasonably priced and we will definitely return...compliments to the chef.

Came here for a takeaway saturday, had usual chicken tikka masala. I am a local and normally come here. It was inedible, far too sweet and all it tasted of was ground coconut. Sorry guys, not sure I'll be back. .

Stayed a few miles away in a holiday let, could not be bothered with cooking in the heat, so chanced our arms and got a curry in. Have to say I was very impressed, nice and hot, not over spiced, nothing burned or below par, order was for 12 of us, and was 100% right, they even chucked in some free poppadoms, pickles and chutney. Staff were very friendly and polite, one to keep on the satnav for next time I am that side of the country.

joined with a very good service little but clean surroundings equals a satisfying dining experience. Menu rich, so we could eat even more on our occasional visits .

Never had a bad take away from here. The staff are absolutely brilliant and the food is to die for! Can't recommend it enough

Went for a meal just the two of us although space is limited in the restaurant and there was no alcohol the food was as good as any I've had, we weren't rushed and able to enjoy the evening .I would definitely recommend and will certainly be using again for a sit down or take away. Many thanks

Indian food has always been a bit of a hit and miss for me - especially with a nut allergy I'm always concerned that somethings going to be a problem.This place on the other hand has become one of my guilty pleasures and quite possibly the reason I'm now addicted to spicy food :)The guys who run this place are exceptional in every way, polite, extremely welcoming and the food has been brilliant every time.As a take away restaurant it seems more popular as a take away - even though the restaurant itself is nice if not a little small.My only complaint if any is the vindaloo they kindly make me is super hot and 9 times out of ten gets me a ticket to sleeping on the sofa - so I've started ordering the Madras to keep the peace at home :)Seriously though - love this place. It's priced well, the food is consistently fresh, well prepared and allergies are catered for here... never let us down once.Really couldn't recommend it enough!!

recomended to this, dont be put off as from outside it dosent appeal. superb food, seriously good. only had one dish i wasnt impressed with which was lamb tikka massala, lamb was tough and only 3 bits of it in container... otherwise everything else is just the best ever, comes with lots of dips and often free popadoms.. such lovely people there too. i wont eat indian anywhere else.

The food in akash is top notch, you must try the garlic chilli chicken tikka and writing this review make me hungry I will pop in tomorrow. The staff r so friendly and helpful. Thank you.

This little place is at the end of Cinderton village; it was a Sunday night and there was a steady roll of locals collecting their takeaways, we were staying about three miles away at Speech House and fancied an Indian so sat in with the two person banquet. Both food and service here are outstanding, real quality flavoursome food cooked to order, good portions and great value for money. Service with a smile too, the waiter guy was attentive but not overly fussy, a very relaxed and enjoyable meal; we would certainly go back - highly recommended! Photos to follow....

Excellent quality food , very friendly staff and fast service. This is a small restaurant and takeaway, not many tables so might need to check there is no large party booked as it is very popular. There is some parking opposite away from residents area. .

We had an absolutely great dining experience. Service was impeccable and the food beautifully presented and truly delicious. Started with pampadoms and sauces then had a chicken tiki starter and then we had prwan currys.we been to other restaurants in this areas but food in Akesh totally different from other resturents in sourouned.

I had visited the local town of Cheltenham and was recommended by friends to visit this restaurant, I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, with Peshawari naan. The staff were very friendly - I was served by Hussain, who was extremely polite and well mannered. I definitely recommend the restaurant

This the only Resturent I go to every week and food is spot on.Testy every time,if you looking for Indian in this area ,this is a great option.They are also do takeaway!!!!!

The food is fabulous especially on the weekend, it's is still lovely during the week, but definitely better on weekend when the chef is busy! We've tried many Indian takeaways and always go back to this one, the staff are very friendly and we always get free popadoms

I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in the UK and elsewhere, this place is definitely up there with the best of them. The restaurant is small and unassuming with great food. Service is very friendly too.

I always go to the Akash; when I allow myself a curry. It's always a take away, but the food and service is absolutely fantastic. I worry that every other curry I have will fail in comparison.

I visit this Indian on a regular bases. I could not recommend it more.The Chicken Tikka Masala is the best around and I love their peshwari Nan

excellent quality food. we are take away customers since about 15 years and a review was well overdue. Friendly service, always a little free extra Poppadum's or sauces and always freshly prepared and piping hot!

Good to takeout but wouldn't eat in the restaurant again, needs a good decorate and cleaning saw spider webs on the window sealing a few days ago :|

The best take away Indian food in Cinderford. The food is always piping hot, service is friendly & efficient.

This is my regular Indian take away, love the food there. The spice is perfection and whether your looking for a hot/medium/mild curry the Akash has it all. Don't be shy, give it a try and I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

We decided to call for a bit of lunch and a cup of tea. The experience was very pleasant, with polite happy staff good value for money and I can recommend the Meze Platter which is a starter on the main menu but I just had it as a bit of lunch, it was delish!

I have been dining at the akash and having takeaways from there for as long as it has been there. Mr Ali the owner is a lovely polite and welcoming man. His staff are wonderfull and work very hard. I am a sucker fir his chicken vindaloo which certainly very spicey just how I like it. I love eating in at the akash and having a takeaway from there. Food is excellent valur for money I do not go to any other indian.

Again, been back to the Akash for a take away and it was lovely. I had chicken tikka masala with pilau rice...very very nice. Will be back again. Thank you. Very friendly too.

I had vegatable korma and hubby had lamb jalfrazi as usual Ali gave us some free popodoms, such friendly staff there and been having meals now for 20 years from akash and wouldn,t want to change to anywhere else now.

Good for takeaway, but don't bother going for a sit down meal as they do not have an alcohol licence and you cannot take your own either. Go to Curry Leaf up the road instead!

Friendly staff, great price & having enjoyed Indian cuisine at many different restaurants around the country including some rather 'upmarket' ones at nearly 4 times the price per head I have to say the food at the Akash is consistently my favourite. Definitely our go-to Indian for the food!

I have used this restaurant for many years and never had a bad meal. Although more suited as a take away as it is very small, I have always had a warm welcome from the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The price is good too! Keep up the good work guys.

Food was cooked to within an inch of its life, and stodgey as anything. Ali and Tarik were rude and arrogant as we were a table of younger people. We were then told to light our own candles, but then caused a scene because we "lit the wrong ones". Will NOT be returning again.

Terrible food, rude staff and worst of all the price !!! Avoid at all costs cramped and your not allowed alcohol even if its your own !!

Have been using the Akash for the last 15years, have had indian from other take aways/restaurants and they are no competition, the food is excellent second to none and the staff and owner are lovely we always get a warm welcome a smile and always extras for free, would highly recommend, never had a bad meal in 15 years always consistent and excellent.

Good Indian cuisine at reasonable prices. Have eaten in and also had takeaways from here on many occasions. Just a shame that they are not licenced to sell alcohol

I've been ordering and eating in this take awy since I've lived I cinderford & the food has always been top notch! Very welcoming staff and also very polite! Small room but lovely place to eat if you enjoy a peaceful meal

I have had many an Indian dish from Akash and i have to say the food is very very tasty. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. The only downside is that the restaurant NEEDS TO BE DECORATED. It is very tired looking and dated. This little restaurant will benefit from a good coat of paint and some new furnishings.

Very reasonable but all this hype about it being the best Indian around is pathetic. Its just very basic Indian and I have had a lot better in my time. Cheap setting and not the best service.

Ordered on the phone for takeaway, walked in, thought about walking out but quickly remembered being in Cinderford we were short on options. Seemed quite dirty, and this is always a worry when you can't see the cooking area.

Food is lovely and if you want something a bit different to the menu Ali and Tarik are happy to oblige. Welcoming and happy to go over the menu with you. Sometimes you do have to wait to a bit if they are busy as it doubles as a takeaway as well. The downside since New year 2012 is that you can no longer take your own alcohol in to drink. However you can take or buy your own soft drinks. It is a small restaurant, with only 7 tables so you might need to book. I've been going in there for about 15 years now... and off again this weekend.

Me and my fiance have been going here for a couple of years and not once have we had bad service or food. We moved away to swansea a year ago and have tried all the indian takeaways and none of them come close to the Akash. We occasionally come back to the forest to see family and to visit the Akash, and strongly recommend this to any one who loves indian food. Great resturant and take away!

We have meals from here at least once a month. We tend to go for the take away as the restaurant is very small. The food is always of an excellent quality and the staff are very pleasant.

Hi, I dined in this restaurant recently the food was great but I went down stairs where they do all their cooking, that was the last time I went there.
