Akasaka in Milton Keynes

We are eat here for the first time for my husband’s birthday meal, the price good, the food wasn’t too bad but the service were not impressed at all. Never been asked by staff if everything ok and we have to always looking for someone to asked for extra while staff pulled unhappy face at the table. The seafood ramen look terrible with no taste and with carrots and courgette which I never experienced that before. However my husband didn’t mind as he can’t be bothered to wait or speak to someone.

Akasaka has become a regular place to eat for my friend and I. We've always been happy with our food but I wanted to leave some feedback this time. The food was fantastic, I do wish they had more desert options but honestly I wasn't displeased with what I had, it was very nice. Every time I go there I'm always surprised with how good the food tastes. I had the Chicken Ramen, it was amazing. Our waiter was professional and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we ended up being the last two to leave the restaurant. I really love this restaurant, it's such a nice refreshing change from large chains all serving the same thing everywhere. I don't think the pictures in your menu do the food justice, for example I was looking on your website on at the ramen, it looked so much better on my plate last night. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing though as I "wowed" when it arrived.

Beautiful & tasty food with good options for vegans/ vegetarians. Lovely atmosphere. Service could have been swifter, but not an outlier given we were there on a Friday night.

Brilliant venue for food and especially the karaoke my daughter had a great day. Food was lovely enjoyed by all that attended

Beautiful food, decor and service. Love this place. We visit the one in Northampton too. The only difference is this had a nicer decor. The food is always amazing. The kimchi is to die for. Great service

Suggested coming here for our team get together this lunchtime as was so impressed when I last came here. Again, we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and the ambience and service were great. I hade the vegetarian Katsu curry and it was delicious. I don’t need an evening meal now as the portions were very generous!

We ate here at lunchtime today and the 4 of us all had delicious food. Freshly cooked and tasty. I particularly want to mention our waiter, who went out of his way to ensure I had a gluten free meal. (I have Coeliac disease). I would definitely eat here again, such a shame I don't live in Milton Keynes! But I do shop here on occasions so will visit again. Thank you!

Visited for the first time for dinner with my wife. We came early so it was a little quieter. That suited us fine. We had prompt and friendly service throughout. The food was very good and tasty! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely return.

We were here for dinner. This is fine dining restaurant. Decor is typical Japanese style. Food is good, Service is excellent. Busy place suggest to book before going. Expensive dining average GBP 25 per head without drinks and desert. Seating area is good on main floor as well as first floor.

I have been working in the hospitality for years but akasaka was bad last night . After we got seated nobody even came to offer a drink for half an hour ! I’ve Had a lovely evening somewhere else . Won’t be back , not desperate for a sushi roll with a poor service

Great service and friendly team. I visited the restaurant with my wife and 1 year old child. High chairs were available and the food was fresh.

ordered a udon, bibimbap and takoyakithe udon looks nothing to a japanese udon! There’re bell peppers, onions and courgette in it, which turns into a vegetable soup base. no japanese udon flavours at all and they call themselves a japanese restaurant???!!!! the takoyaki has only one drop of mayo on the top (we asked for extra mayo on the side afterwards). normally takoyaki should have some seaweed, bonito flakes and sesame but this dish only has one drop of mayo on top and nothing else. so they are calling themselves a japanese restaurant just because they serve sushi and sashimi?

as a long standing fan and customer of Akasaka I was shocked to see that they had put their prices up. £7 for an avocado roll? They’re good but they aren’t London good and their prices are now that of which you’d pay at a good Japanese London restaurant. There is a new amazing place called dragon sushi also in Milton Keynes, I recommend all those who love Akasaka but don’t want to be ripped off try it out there, amazing quality food but a reasonable price!!

Sushi heaven! Beautiful resturant inside and out with amazing quality dishes. Sushi & sashimi combo was to die for. We will be back again and again and again. Prehaps the best sushi in MK! Staff was friendly and attentive. My new favourite spot. Thank you Akasaka team!!!

The restaurant is lovely in terms of its decor and ambience and it has a lovely atmosphere in terms of lighting, background noise and authenticity. Our waitress was very pleasant and there is a lot of choice offered on the menu. I ordered tempura which was nice but the dipping sauce was quite watery and tasteless; I think it could do with a stronger flavour. My main meal was sadly disappointing as my salmon was v.dry and tough, the salad was more of a European style so didn’t really go with the teriyaki and I’ve definitely cooked and eaten much better versions of this at other places. It was very expensive for what was served which was a shame. Someone in my party had the pork bulgogi which was really tasty so I would recommend that dish.

Great Japanese food! We had takeout and below are our favorite dishes: -miso aubergine -chicken yakitori -salmon sashimi -rainbow roll -fried chicken (forgot the name)

Taking away was really precise. Non contact take away. Everything was tasty and worth the money. I will take away from there again.

Ate here for the first time last month. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, good quality, decent portion and good prices. Service was highly efficient. No gripes at all, and will certainly return to this hidden gem of a place.

Got a takeaway chicken katsu curry. It sucks I didn't get 2... Good portion, crisp chicken and nice curry sauce. The inside atmosphere was quite cool and hopefully will visit again to eat inside.

Has been our 'go to' restaurant since last summer and really missed eating here during lockdown.Have been back twice since restrictions eased and it's still our favourite place. All covid precautions have been implemented and our meals have been relaxed enjoyable experiences.Other half loves their sushi whereas being veggie I'm a fan of the vegetable gyoza and the yasai yakisoba (spicy)!Have no fear we'll be booking again very soon.

I discovered this restaurant not long ago but I can say it’s a nice restaurant. The restaurant has nice decorations and the staff is very nice and kind. I always had sushi and I have to admit was really good and the raw tuna and salmon are very fresh and soft.

I have to say, we have thoroughly been enjoying a takeaway from here recently. We loved dining in pre Covid but the quality of the food for takeout is exceptional. Love the new app which makes it so quick and easy to order. Food is super delicious and always consistent.Would highly recommend the miso aubergine, chicken thigh skewers and the Akasaka salmon roll! My partner highly recommends the eeel ones!

Accommodating manager ! Brilliant service where nothing was a problem. Beautiful ambiance. Fantastic quality food. Very reasonably priced food. Amazing ! I would highly recommend everything about this place. Love it . Can’t wait to go back again.

Rivals any Japanese/Korean restaurant anywhere in the UK. Have taken sushi-aficionados there and they confirm that the sushi is every bit as good as anywhere in London (so fresh!) and half the price.As I'm not a sushi fan, I rely on the other meals available and they are always ABSOLUTELY on point. I enjoy Wagamamas but Akasaka are on an entirely different level when it comes to flavours, portion size and affordability.Recent visit had very slow service (as otherwise would have been 5 stars) - which was likely down to reduced staff because of COVID etc .... but otherwise the meal was as tasty and enjoyable as ever.

The decor is really beautiful, and service was alright.We had order Takoyakis, Karaage and a sushi set.The takoyakis were especially disappointing, with a minuscule piece of octopus inside, and no garnish on top (seaweed, bonito flakes...).The karaage was tender and nice inside, but was lacking something but I would not be able to put my finger on it. Didn't get the same "Oh damn' feeling compared to other karaage I've had (in the UK or Japan).The sushi set was quite beautiful. The nigiris were okay mostly, the rice was particularly nicely seasoned, and the wasabi and ginger felt like the real thing. The fish was alright, if unequal. The makis (a Katsu roll) where great and I would not be surprised if they are at the root of the culinary success of this restaurant.We received by mistake a plate of sashimi (which where very inelegant thick cuts of salmon) and an other entry, which we initially thought was complementary, and when we mentioned our doubt to the waitress, after starting the sashimi, she just took it away, I hope not to give to someone else.Covid-wise, it was all taken seriously and properly done.

Foods sooooo good words can’t describe. Definitely will be returning. Service was okay. Ambiance was also great apart from outside seething. Overall experience amazing.

The food is always spot on here, and so earthy.I have been a couple of times and had the Mayonnaise Yaki Udon and the Beef Bulgogi. There's so much flavour in every dish, and there's lots of nice veggies. You can really taste the natural flavours of the meats and onion.My boyfriend always has the Yasai (vegetable) yakisoba. We sometimes share tempura veg, and I also love the takoyaki (balls with octopus in). Miso soup is also very good.It is a little expensive, but you're paying for quality. The portions are also quite big. The sashimi and sushi are also really fresh. We have had our meals delivered over lockdown too!

This was our first visit, we’ve never even had Japanese food before! We will definitely be back!The restaurant is decorated beautifully, tables seem a little close together for my liking but luckily no one was sat near us until we had finished. We ordered a starter and main each, starters were reasonable around £6 and mains were around £11. With the government discount we obviously got £20 off which made it a very cheap meal. Surprisingly although the reviews weren’t great about the chicken teriyaki, my boyfriend ordered this and really like it. I ordered the veggie katsu curry which was amazing! Portion sizes were good, we’d definitely go back!

Stopped for lunch on 29/2/20. The sushi starters were very good - soft shell crab rolls in particular. However the mains were very variable for our party of four. The seafood dishes caused most concern due to the bitterness of the clams other dishes had the aroma over used cooking oil

Although you can eat in the Akasaka at lunchtime, they offer the lunch menu in a takeaway (bento) box at a substantial discount - the price includes a can of cold drink (rather a limited choice, basically 7-Up or Coca-Cola) and a polystyrene cup of miso soup. My choice, of spicy pork bulgogi with rice, three chicken gyoza, a generous portion of warm edame beans and a little red pickle was good: the rice was properly sticky but not glutinous; the meal was cooked to order so took about 15 minutes to arrive. I would criticise the amount of single use plastic, and suggest that given VAT is charged both on eat-in and takeaway hot food, the takeaway discount isn't actually justified, especially as the restaurant seats are nearly always empty at lunchtime! Surely all the disposable plastic costs more than washing up a few china dishes?But overall for a Japanese/Korean dish it was reasonable value and reasonable quality.

We booked this for my mums 50th birthday. The staff were nice as we had to change the time we arranged to book the table. The food was okay nothing special I ordered the teriyaki dish but I didn’t enjoy it was very bland and the chicken had a lot of fat in it.I took a cake to surprise my mum the staff were kind to place it in the fridge and brought the cake after dinner. However, they didn’t tell me when it was coming so I could have the camera ready.

The location and outside does not inspire confidence... inside an office complex and the reek of chlorine from the nearby Bannatynes.But inside the staff and food soon quell any fears.The sushi is excellent. I work in central london and the Sushi options are plenty. This is up there with the very best. Rainbow roll comes highly recommended.Next up.... price. Very good value.This was 5th visit....

Dinner with my wife. Very different food to anything else in Milton Keynes. Very tasty and well presented.

After a tough day of travelling up from London we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this magnificent establishment. Attentive waitress, amazing food and great beer. 100% would reccomend!

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's what's on the inside that counts. Had the bulgogi with shrimp fried rice. Everything was as it should be, perfect with perfect flavor. Kimchi was amazing as well. Will definatly come back next time I'm in mk.

First visit last night. Looks nice enough. Food and service was ok. Found the sauces bit bland. The presentation not great and the salmon completely overcomes. It was edible and fine but nothing great or special. Return to the 60’s when plastic penguins form part of desserts. Needs some work to survive for sure. And a cleaner for toilets.

A great restaurant with extremely friendly staff, a good mix of Korean and Japanese food and drink. Sushi was good quality, and the dishes were excellently prepared with good portion sizes.

We often go to Akasaka in Wolverton but as it's not open on Mondays and this was a last minute surprise for me, my other half booked the CMK restaurant.

Tried the rolls, soup, and fried rice - rolls seemed a little skimpy on fish but then again I’m used to sashimi. Excellent all around, great service and prime location.

Tasty food and excellent service at lunchtime. Popped in with a friend, reasonably busy but staff attentive and food lovely.

We've been to the Wolverton restaurant a few times and have always found the intimate venue well staffed and the food superb. We tried the central mk restaurant tonight and found the service very disappointing. We had to remind the waitress after 20 mins that we were still awaiting our bottle of wine (we hadn't had starters yet)and 5 mins later were told they had run out of wine glasses, many had broken during the week...once they had some from other customers finishing we would get out bottle. No wine glasses but the waitress embarrassingly produced champagne flutes sometime later, apologised and served our wine.

This is my second of three visits in under a week ... need I say more Highly recommend the Dolsot Bibimbap

I've been here countless times over the years and every time the food has been delicious. It's always fresh and the staff are really friendly. I'd recommend getting the soft shell crab sushi roll and the prawn tempura sushi roll.

The food was fantastic and you can try different sake’s. Clearly very popular as is fully booked. Will definitely return!

I loved the sake hot and cold, the asserted combo deluxe was amazing. And I am going to try a black sesame ice cream. Nice decoration

My brother from anotger mother and I had a great meal here. I def recommend the edamame beans and the bibimbap with extra chilli sauce (which is not ketchup... Just a smiliar bottle)

We really enjoyed our lunch of squid, kimchi and dumpling starters as well as pork katsu curry and beef main. Service was excellent, I highly recommend the sake!

Lovely restaurant with great decor and atmosphere. The sushi was delicious, especially the soft shell crab. Only complaint would be that the udon was little plain and watery.

The food was great and the service was fast. The food came with generous portions and ingredients, unlike some places that supply two shrimp in a shrimp salad. The interior is stylish and clean. I’ll note that the entrance is not so easy to spot, my wife even said “Are you sure?” when I went to enter the building! Lastly, the prices a reasonable for the quality.

The wife booked as a surprise for my birthday and we went with our 3 boys.

Found this restaurant whilst wondering around MK center and had an absolutely gorgeous meal. The sushi we had was superb, the decor beautiful, and the staff welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend it and would visit it again.

By far the best Japanese restaurant in Milton Keynes. Personal favourites are Tako Yaki (Octopus Balls) and the Soft Shell Crab is amazing. The restaurant itself is clean tidy and authentic Japanese. The staff are polite and helpful (if you need to know more about the dishes) The Korean selection is also very nice

This restaurant has excellent sushi! The service is good and the restaurant is very well decorated. I would highly recommend it!

Spicy seafood yakisoba or ramen are the go to dishes every time. Food is always prepared to a high standard, freshly cooked, served hot. Staff are generally courteous and polite. Beer bottles are very small being Japanese Kirin or Asahi. Perhaps Akasaka could stock larger 500ml bottles or cans rather than 250ml which are more like samples or tasters?

Fantastic meal as always. We’ve been to the wolverton akasaka several times and always had great food. This was our first visit to the central Milton Keynes one and very happy to say the standard of food and service is just as high. The sashimi is always amazing it’s definitely mine and the kids restaurant of choice when eating out in MK.

Excellent attentive staff and exceptional food. Food was extremely fast and could be customised with the level fresh f hear required.

I bugged my parents to bring us here because I love sushi and as they are so great they booked a table. I had sashimi, edamame beans and salmon bibimbap and it was all amazing. I will definitely be bugging them to bring me back really soon.

Been on the look out for a good Japanese restaurant in the area since returning to the UK. Very impressed by the menu and the food was delicious; a satisfying throw back to dishes I regularly ate in Japan. The only down side was that as it wasn’t very busy the staff were too attentive and our plates were cleared away before finishing mouthfuls. But all in all a very pleasant experience will be dining there again in the near future.
