Lovely food, plesent staff, nice clean restruant. Visited many times with friends and family and always a good standard.

The food always hits the spot and never disappoints. And the shakes are to die for. It’s always a treat when we decide to come here for a meal.

We eat breakfast out on a regular basis and have tried many different restaurants but AJ's is the best by far, we have never had a bad breakfast. While we haven't had any other meals the meals that come out for others look delicious but we are breakfast people. The restaurant is spotless, service is great, staff are very friendly and good quality produce is used. They have recently very tastefully redecorated the exterior and interior so surrondings are very pleasant. You can tell a good eating place by the number of people who you see eating there and AJ's is always busy. If in the area definitely go in you will not be disappointed we never have been.

Lovely food and quick service. Was there with a party of 14. Some family had intorrances to certain food and nothing was too much. Defo be back lovely food staff were very attentive

Called for brunch and enjoyed a mini fry with beans at no extra charge. Tasty toasted bread and well cooked bacon. Prices are very reasonable and we were served by a young fellow who had a lovely manner and super efficient.

Stopped at AJ's in Crossgar on Sunday 10th March,2019 around lunchtime for a snack. They were serving very tempting dinners, however as we were having a dinner later we opted for sandwiches,great choice especially the turkey and cranberry, in fresh granary bread. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Will call again if passing through.

We stopped here for breakfast and had the full fry for breakfast. Delicious and very filling. Consisted of two soda bread, two potato bread, two fried eggs (cooked with the yolk still runny), a hashbrown, two sausages, two rashers of bacon, mushrooms and a half grilled tomato

We regularly visit AJs for breakfast and it’s always a reliable spot with generous portions and good value for money. We had never visited for dinner before so went early on a Saturday evening. Staff downstairs cannot always keep an eye on the queuing system for tables so you rely on others being honest and not trying to squeeze in front of you (beware of old ladies). No corkage fee was a nice surprise. We had difficulty picking from the menu as nothing really jumped out that made us think “mm, that sounds delicious...”. A lot of chicken, some steak, gammon, battered cod. Nearly everything comes with either chips or wedges. Not the most exciting choices. The surroundings are lovely and all the staff, while mostly very young, are extremely attentive and competent, really very good. There is nothing to fault about the food, it’s all good quality, nicely presented. There are many people out there who love their plain, traditional food, hence the high rating and why I would still recommend to certain people. However, we left rather underwhelmed after a pleasant yet forgettable meal and will probably stick to breakfasts only. It was worth a try though.

Stumbled across this wee place tonight on a cold wet Friday night. Warm welcome had to queue but everyone in good form. Service great, good choice of menu and food great. Ok no major frills but food great and service great. Even though we live 20miles away we will return. Well done guys

Excellent in all the years going to AJ'S have never had a bad meal no matter what i have ordered. Great food at a reasonable price & all staff very knowledgeable of menu. Would highly reccomend.

AJ's whilst a bit of a drive from where I live, I would gladly make the trip at the drop of a hat. The food is brilliant, the portions are what I call country portions. They cater to my gluten free requirements with a varied menu and the service is great. I don't think that I have ever visited AJ's and didn't have to queue, albeit for 10 mins or so. Testament to the quality and knowledge that it's worth the wait. Well worth the trip.

Just had a very enjoyable Christmas dinner in AJS Diner in Crossgar with close friends.

Had Christmas dinner- just delicious. Everything on the plate was perfect and I liked the way we had an option for extra gravy!! Food lovely and warm with warm plates. Finished off with banoffee. It was the nicest I have ever tasted. The base was lovely and fresh and the plate was decorated to perfection. Delightful!!

We have been quite regular customers at AJ’s Diner over the years, travelling down from Belfast especially to visit as the food is so delicious!

Absolutely beautiful food! We were greeted at the door by a friendly waitress and seated to a table straight away! I ordered my usual battered cod and chips which was cooked to perfection! My partner ordered the Christmas dinner which was amazing,big portions too!! Highly recommend!!

Visited after work on Friday, with my mum and sister visiting from Switzerland. Had a fabulous meal mum had gammon which was huge and cooked beautifully, my sister had steak which was cooked to a perfect medium. I had my favourite philly which was divine as always. Brilliant night with lovely service more than worth the wait for a table.

The diner was fairly busy. The staff were young, inexperienced , and had no interest in their work. The food was at best average. We were at this diner over a number of years and couldn't believe how it has went over this past year. Would be hard to persuade to return.

We visit family in the area every year and always look for a good breakfast. We've tried lots of places, some good some average and some that are atrocious. AJs breakfast is by far the BUF within a 10 mile radius. It's stunning. Fresh, well cooked and great portion sizes.

I have been coming here for years and couldn't fault it for both service or food, went 3 weeks ago expecting the same, totally disgusting chicken In the kebab was carved of a breast, lukewarm, wedges could bounce of the floor, or rubbed my son's homework out, stinking, when I returned the un eaten food I got told there was nothing wrong with it and that's how it always is, WRONG!! 2 kids meals both with beans dumped all over the food, couldn't be eaten either, 2years and 4 years leaving starving because someone couldn't heat beans in a rampkin!! I will never return here being made to pay for food that wasn't eaten!! Whoever is cooking needs a lesson quick

No matter when we go to AJ's Diner, the food is superb and prices are reasonable. You never come away hungry. We always love going to AJ's. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Here today with the family. Grand-daughter had the kids chicken.... it was massive? Would have been enough for me.

The food is always good with generous portions and is always busy with local people.

This is the place to eat for miles around... On Sundays there can be a queue.... But truly we'll worth the wait the food matches all that' tastes great across the world. Most main meals are less than £12 can. T Be Beaten Enjoy

Not our first visit by any means and this was no different to our previous experiences. Excellent food,simple and great quality, ample portions, friendly efficient staff and just great all-round value.

We have visited this diner on many occasions and have yet to be disappointed.it always seems to be busy no matter what time of the day we go. The food cannot be faulted,the service is great the waitresses are always friendly, the quantity of servings will leave you not wanting any more. We have never been able to have a dessert. The price will leave you asking have you forgotten something. Ten out of ten.

I visited with friends for Sundaty dinner. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded. On arrival we were greeted by staff and shown to a table. I found there was a good choice on the nmenu as well as a daily special. Staff were friendly and attentive and service was prompt and efficient. We only had a main course and we found the portions to be a good size, well presented and tasty.

A versatile food stop whether for the best ulster fry in the morning, an extensive menu for lunch or a dinner with family, friends or group get togethers. AJs is situated on a busy corner spot which is great for watching the world go by without the noise of traffic etc. It has both ground floor and upstairs eating areas each with a different feel depending on the occasion. Toilets are on the ground and 1st floors with clean baby changing area and seated waiting area separate from the main restaurant. Family friendly though be prepared to wait for a table during busy periods. The Staff are friendly and attentive while professional

Called into AJs coming home from Belfast with my wife and daughter we all ordered the steak sandwich each really tasty and well presented very friendly staff would definitely eat and recommend it to all

My wife and I visited AJ's on several occasions, and each time we were served excellent meals by excellent staff, in an excellent atmosphere.

We arrived early evening for a meal and already we could see it was popular with regular customers, as it was already busy. We got a table easily though and were served very promptly by Ashleigh, who took drink orders and gave us time to look at the menu. We both opted for burgers, one beef and one chicken and they were both excellent. We were offered a variety of potatoes, rather than just the standard fries and although I went with the standard, my husband chose the excellent wedges with garlic butter (I pinched one to check!). We ordered a side order of french fried onions, which were beautiful and very obviously not from a packet. The portion sizes were huge, meaning that we couldn't manage dessert, which was a shame, as we saw some coming out of the kitchen and they looked great. Overall we had a lovely meal and it only came to just over £25, which is a bargain. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good quality, good value food.

Good food, service is excellant and there is no rushing you out once you have finished eating. Only downside you can't book a table but it was worth waiting the few minutes for a table

A.J’s (Crossgar) food is excellent and the portions are very generous. The spotless, friendly staff are very helpful and obliging The Restaurant and the Toilets are spotless. We have been there quite a few times and always enjoy dining there.

As a local person in Crossgar, I have been visiting AJ's Diner for many years with my family. We eat out a lot and I compare everywhere I go to our favourite restaurant, AJ's!

This restaurant is a gem! We did not know Crossgar, nor the quality of the food before our visit. The service was efficient and friendly, and the food was wholesome and delicious. We were on our way to the Rademon Estate Gin Distillery, and had been let down by our pre-booked taxi. One of the staff very kindly drove us to the distillery, and we thank him again for that. We definitely highly recommend AJ’s Diner for good food & friendly service.

Stopped here for dinner with our children. Great meal and really good service. Highly recommend the burgers! We were all very hungry but plenty of food. Will be back

We used to come here all the time but had a bad experience before with dirty salad leaves and a hair in our food. This was reported to a member of staff at the time who didn't seem to care. We left if a few years and decided to go back and give it another chance. What a mistake that was. There was 3 of us and not one of us enjoyed our meal. The steak in the kebab was disgusting - chewy and full of gristle. Inedible so had to leave it to the side. We could not believe it that yet again another hair was found in the batter of my dad's fish. Shocked that this seems to be a common occurrence and totally put off from ever giving this place another chance. We didn't mention this time around as last time we were not listened to so didn't see the point. What a shame as this place used to be so good.

Went here with my partner after hearing good reviews about the food. I am glad we did! The restaurant was very busy however we got a table quickly and did not have long to wait for food. The portions are very generous and great value. The menu is large with options to please everyone. I would recommend the roast dinners or burgers. There is also a variety of freshly made desserts. I had the dime bar cheese cake which was lovely. Will definitely return.

Very busy diner on the Main Street of Crossgar,be prepared to queue in the street on a Saturday evening,Sunday lunch and evening! They have three rooms going at peak times so the queue does move quite quickly.It is well worth the wait as the standard and quality of the food is very high,and portion size is exceptional,so make sure you are hungry! You won't be disappointed with the extensive menu on offer.

I have been to AJ's many times over the years but I just had to write a review of the brilliant family celebration we had for my mum's birthday.There was 23 in our group but the food was still perfect. We had the option of preordering or ordering on arrival. All of the food was delicious, piping hot and nicely presented. We all had different starters, main courses and desserts but there were no problems and the service was great. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even sang when they brought out the birthday cake for my mum.Thank you AJ's for a great evening! We will definitely be back for other celebrations!

It is very hard to beat the standards delivered in AJ's but you dont have to take my word for it just look at the number of people like me that keep going back.

Fist time to AJ's on friends recommendation & must admit was not disappointed. For a Tuesday afternoon, restaurant was very busy & unfortunately bookings are not taken. We were lucky to get last table. Not shy in portion sizes & food was lovely. Will definitely be back & highly recommend.

After a visit to Castle Ward we were looking for some where to eat and found AJs and we were delighted from start to finish. The staff were welcoming, the premises were clean & spacious and the food was yummy!!!!!! No room for a pudding!!!

Going thru Crossbar, this diner was recommended by a local. Boy were we glad we stopped. I had three older teenage boys with me, we got plenty of food, service was great, food was brilliant and staff were friendly. We couldn't finish what we were given, too much, and the price was quite reasonable. What a surprise and what a gem, well worth the stop.Also, tried to give excellent rating for service, food and value but for some reason, it takes excellent for first choice only and very good for the others, again, all were excellent.

recently I treated my mum to lunch at aj's diner in the pass I been and I haven't been happy with my food either mum loved her salad.I didn't like my cheese burger the burger didn't taste nice so it must be quality of the burgers and I didn't enjoy my chips either.i went over to fitzsmons afterwards to buy some sweets to get the bad taste out of my mouth and I seen the prices have gone up which is a disgrace if u haven't enjoyed your meal.although the waitress was nice enough hear also that aj's is being bought over.

I stopped of for my lunch today went for the all day fry it was lovely great value for money not greasy at all had a pot of tea but as I'm a diabete they don't do sweetener or a sugar sub shame they should look into this and supply something like splenda but highly recommended place to eat

We visited on a Saturday evening (2 couples). There was a queue outside waiting to get seated but we didn't wait more than 15 minutes to get a table. Although the restaurant was very busy the staff were efficient and friendly throughout the service. Patricia was lovely. The food was excellent . Great value and a great night all round.

Really is a gem of a place, great food, great service and very reasonably priced. The mashed potato and champ is just divine. Thoroughly recommend. Can be busy, but worth the wait.

I was passing through the village and needed some lunch. AJ's looked like a nice place from the outside and I am so glad I went in. We were seated right away and given menus and also told about the specials of the day. I opted for gammon with fried egg and garlic wedges, my friend had cheese and bacon wedges with some salad. Both meals were delicious and freshly made. The portions were very generous, my gammon was so thick and juicy. We knew the desserts would be equally as good. I had the rhubarb crumble with ice cream, my friend had jam pudding with custard. The place really filled up just after we got there but they have upstairs seating as well so nobody had long to wait. It's such a pity this place is not closer to home for me but I would make the trip again just to sample more of the menu. Highly recommended.

We want I for a family dinner to celebrate a family anniversary and the food was gorgeous. Staff could not have been nicer. Very good prices too.

What a busy place we just stepped in I had lasagna with baked potato my wife had filled baked potato both were large portions lasagna was a little dry as was both baked spuds a little butter would have helped

I had a lovely meal here, the service was fantastic, the servers could have been any more nicer to me, but all I could hear the entire time was shouting coming from the kitchen(bearing in mind we were quite close to the kitchen). This has now put me off from taking our kid here as the language from the kitchen was filth. Other then that everything was good.

My family and I have loved AJs for a number of years now. We usually stop here for dinner on the way back from Newcastle, and it has never failed to impress. The food is really reasonably priced and the portions are second to none.I've also been here for breakfast on the way down towards Newcastle and it's just as good then. The fry is sensational!

We have been coming to AJ's since I was a child and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed by a meal here. The service is always friendly and the welcome warm and whether you're grabbing a bite of lunch our out for a leisurely dinner, I never feel rushed or in a hurry to leave. The portions are generous to a fault and excellent value for money. Our last visit was on St Patrick's Day for lunch when the only specification for us was that we had to have AJ's chips! Yum! The chicken goujons are always delicious and a firm favourite in our family - i don't think you can go wrong with AJ's for an excellent valued casual meal out.

My friend is from the area and brought me back from over Liverpool ways whilst she visited family, her mum took us this place as they come often she wasn't wrong when she said the food was amazing, It was presented so well and good sized portions and was lovely we all tried a bit of each other's as it all looked so good and it was!

Went for lunch on Sunday. Just wanted a mini fry but was presented with 2 pieces each soda bread and potato farls (only Ulster people will know what these are), a large sausage, a very large slice of bacon, fried egg and tomato. All for £4.95. If this is the mini-fry, what is the full fry like???My guests had Chicken Maryland - with a sausage and extremely large and delicious potato wedges, and AJ's special burger. Then 2 Dime Cheesecakes and 3 soft drinks. All for £43! everyone had difficulty leaving the place due to the amount of food consumed

I'm addicted. The food is absolutely exquisite! Amazing service from upbeat waitress on the second floor! I had the beef which was just so tender and juicy! Will be back as the kids absolutely adored it!Many thanks for the amazing service,Julie B.

It doesn't matter how many times you visit AJ's Diner, the food is always excellent. They just get it right every time which is why you have to plan your visit. There can sometimes be a queue which is testament to the quality of a local restaurant.
