Afternoon Tea at Europa Hotel - Belfast in Belfast

We had the most lovely time at the Piano Bar in the Europa hotel for afternoon tea. We headed here as a birthday present for my mum and we were treated with the highest level of hospitality especially by Zaky. He went above and beyond to ensure our experience was great and even brought down a surprise happy birthday plate with a candle. The live piano music and delicious selection of food was amazing. Overall a fantastic experience

The Piano Bar, in the Europa Hotel, has a wonderful creative Interior design.... A beautiful Grand Piano placed in the central area... occasionally played, but always nice relaxing Piano music playing in the background.... A beautiful Afternoon Tea, served by lovely, friendly and helpful staff... all very smartly dressed, Barry, Zaki and Kym... Definitely a beautiful relaxing experience... 🎹💙

We had the loveliest afternoon tea here. Lots of variety, really fresh and tasty in very comfortable surroundings. Brilliant attentive staff! It was my friend's birthday and they brought her a happy birthday plate with treats. Would highly recommend!

It had great meals and service. Our waiter, Adam, was very nice about my gluten sensitivity and was very helpful. Absolutely lovely.

Delicious coffee and scones; then cocktails; then lunch ☺️ Lovely attentive staff (as usual) with Sophie making sure we were treated to a 5* experience. The piano lounge setting is luxurious and relaxing. We will be back soon.

We went to Afternoon Tea last Sunday and I have to say that I was more than satisfied with the experience. The selection of treats were really lovely and plenty of variety for all taste buds. The service was impeccable and could not be faulted in any way. The staff in the hotel were really friendly and helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. The atmosphere in the hotel is so relaxing and we could easily have sat there all day and watched the world go by. I would highly recommend the experience to anyone.

Fantastic afternoon tea yesterday for 4 after a weekend of celebrations. Good quality sandwiches and a fine selection of cakes and scones. Too many cakes in fact, we took some home. Having read a couple of the reviews below I don’t agree with the sandwiches criticism. It’s good quality artisan style bread, not mass produced smooth , tasteless bread. Would recommend. Service was faultless.

I looked at my last review here in 2017, which was 'Excellent' and I could hardly recognise what we had this time, compared to before. The sandwiches were very tired and had been prepared too far in advance, as the replacement egg sandwiches were far superior. Nothing particularly tasty this time. The pastries were very amateurish and the scones were just okay. Service was poor with this part of the restaurant being neglected by the waitress delegated. We had to hail her for extra, butter, jam and finally tea. She was initially very off hand when we asked for a couple more. "Ill see what I can do" was the reply. We had a long wait to get seated initially and they seemed to be in a flap when we arrived 15 mins early, despite us reassuring them we were in no rush. We had a Christmas present voucher, sort least we were not paying ourselves and they kindly removed the pre tea G&T my wife had when we replied when asked that we hadn't enjoyed it. It has gone downhill since 2017.

Afternoon Tea @ the Europa today was excellent, the staff were helpful and attentive. From helping my wife to sit on the heavy chairs, asking if we wanted to change any sandwich fillings and offering top up's of tea. The sandwiches were fresh, the scones warm and tasty and there was a great selection of cakes. The offer of a box to take the rest home was greatly appreciated. A lovely eating experience in a lovely atmosphere. A big shout out for Cormack and his staff.

It was a present for my wife’s retirement . We booked afternoon tea and sandwiches but it was very disappointing, this treat was not cheap and was meant to be especial but if felt rushed the bread was not that fresh felt as if they had been made the night before and left out over night , the scones where small and cold , we had to ask for more jam butter and cream as they only provided small portions , coffee and tea came before the sandwiches etc so had to ask for more tea and coffee , it would have been better if all had came at the same time . Disappointed but as it was a present we didn’t say .

Daughter gave her mother a voucher for tea for two , so we decided to take her and my son-in-law and make it four not two for afternoon tea . Bread was hard and felt stale , had to ask for more butter and when finished they could not clear dishes quick enough . Felt rushed . Would not go again but look for some where else .

Had a wonderful experience when I had afternoon tea there on 23rd as a late Mothers Day gift.Have had afternoon tea in many well known locations throughout the world including the Burj al Arabe in Dubai and was just as impressed by my experience in Europa.Staff were welcoming and extremely attentive and food fresh,tasty and yummy.I must single out Veronica and Lucy who both ensured my friend and myself felt welcomed and pampered.Would highly recommend the experience.Very many thanks

Whilst doing a spot of christmas shopping in Belfast on the 22nd December we Visited the Piano bar on the first floor of the Europa to grab an eveng snack & cup of coffee. When we went to the first floor where it says 'wait here to be seated' we stood for a few minutes then a young man shouted across from across the bar / restaurant & pointed at a free table so we went & sat down, then the waiting started ! About 5 minutes passed with no-one showing any sign of serving us I got up & approached the same young man who pointed out the free table to us, I asked him if he could give us a couple of menus which he did ( you would need a magnifying glass to read the menu, why the meed for such tiny print?) We then had to stop a passing waitress to get her to take our order. When the food came it was fine but when we had finished our food we sat for another 20mins & no one was showing any sign of coming to ask if we needed anything or to clear the table, once again I had to get up & go look for a staff member, a young man then came & cleared the plates but left the empty glasses & napkins, we assumed he was going to come back & finish the clear up & ask if we wanted another drink or even desert (which we did want) so once again I had to go on the hunt for a waiter, I then got a waitress who took for ever to come back. This poor service really surprised me, this is the famous Europa hotel after all ?? The staff showed little to no interest & show zero professionalism, who trains these people ? This place had a TV series recently boasting hiw hard working they are, I must say it is so poor. My wife was in the Piano bar the week before with her sisters & mother & also found the service to be ridiculously poor, she thought I was a one off but it would seem not, we will jot be back, this is a shame as it is a lovely setting & the food was good but the lack of attentiveness from the staff ruined it for us.

From the minute we were greeted by Kym to leaving we felt very special, Kyle the chef even came out to say hi! Very impressed.. it was my birthday 🎂 and Kym made sure i was made a fuss off .. Iv been watching the tv program and couldn’t have chosen better for my birthday treat.. My first ever visit to Ireland and can honestly say loved it! Thanks again to Kym and her daughter and Kyle for the delicious platter of cakes x

Our impressions of the Europa were mixed. Initially, we waited in a corner of the foyer until it was time for our tea. Two discarded plastic carrier bags lay on the floor next to our bench which we thought was rather poor for a superior hotel. Things improved in the piano bar. Our greeting by staff was warm and sincere with service, food and drink of a high standard. One thing jarred, however; the poor baby grand piano was incredibly dusty, battered and in need of some TLC. Come on folks, it is the piano bar! We enjoyed our afternoon tea but wondered if the Europa - like a slightly embarrassing younger sibling - is being neglected in favour of the more illustrious Grand Central. As we left, the two plastic bags were still languishing in the corner of the foyer.

First time eating out since March 2020(before the Covid tornado). I have extreme anxiety over socialising because of the virus and it was our 26th wedding anniversary. We let them know beforehand. We took a chance on Europa' afternoon tea. On arrival I almost teared up.......they had a lovely little area cordoned off beside a great view of the bustle outside. As many people have previously mentioned, the wonderful, personable and delightful 'Veronika' treated us like royalty. I was completely at ease and enjoyed it tremendously. This special lady is a total credit to The Europa and needs promoting! She is a gem. Will be back again for my birthday celebrations. Thank you "Europa". As always, classy, professional and above all the rest.

We went to the Piano Lounge for a long overdue catch up . We had coffee , then lunch , then more coffee ! We were never made to feel rushed , the staff are lovely (especially Veronica ) and are attentive but not intrusive . Everything was beautifully presented and delicious . We shall definitely return .
