Delicious stuff. Got a takeaway whilst staying at a hotel, excellent choice with wonderful Gyros, was fantastic and would strongly reccomend. Some of the best Greek food I’ve ever had.

Table of five on a slow night (only one other table) yet it took an hour and half to get food. Apparently they were busy with take away orders. Were repeatedly told not long now which were lies. If we had been told it was going to be that long we would not have sat down. Be honest with your guests especially when they tell you that they had to leave in half an hour having already waited an hour. Furious!!

Sin embargo, la aplicación dijo que serían 25 minutos. Fui en coche, ya que la entrega no era una opción, para que luego me dijeran que habría una espera aún más larga, ya que el restaurante estaba lleno arriba. Ya eran las 8. 15 pm así que dije que lo dejara y me fui sin comida. Muy decepcionante. Si no hay nada más, ordena tu aplicación para que puedas indicar tiempos realistas para la recopilación. Debo decir una vez más - la comida siempre ha sido increíble cuando hemos comido de aquí y la comida que vi mientras esperaba se veía encantadora. Solo una mala experiencia que llevan a tener que ir a otro lugar.

We both had souvlaki, and have previously tried the gyros. All have been excellent. Staff are also very attentive and service was quick.

Very delicious food, we did the two course offer and the portions are very generous and tasty, will definitely be back very soon to try other items on the menu. We had the moussaka, souvlaki and drunk chicken. The only thing is that we would say is that it's taken two hours to have two courses, not a problem for us as we're not in a hurry, but not one for a quick dinner haha!

My partner and I ordered the mixed grill for two @ £45 It was much bigger than expected and was very tasty and well presented. There's a variety of meat cooked and prepared to perfection. It came with a tasty salad, 3 dips with a choice of chips, rice, or saute potatoes. The staff were very accommodating. The chef came to the table and asked how our food was. The music and setup of the restaurant felt very authentic. The parking was limited but free. Only minor point was the restaurant that was upstairs was a bit cold.

My fave place for food around Shipley

How did we not know about this place? The food was delicious and very well priced. The staff are knowledgeable about their food and drink and gave us time to enjoy our starter and cocktails before bringing our mains. The menu is complimented by a weekly specials set-menu and burger menu. We had the vegetarian mezze followed by veg moussaka and meat moussaka. Everything on our plate was well cooked and well presented. My veg moussaka had been slow cooked and it was delicious and hearty. The texture was perfect. Neither of us could finish our mains and took half of it home for lunch the next day. Next time, we will try not to eat our entire starter, so we can fit in a pudding. Don't let the size of the frontage fool you. The restaurant is above their take-out. It has exposed brick walls and high beamed ceiling and the music was Greek and not too loud. There's parking at the front but also there's a car park behind the row of shops to the right.

Visited this restaurant tonight as staying in Shipley overnight as part of our canal walk, Leeds to Skipton.. Welcome, Service and food we're all fantastic.. Our Waitress was absolutely lovely and made our visit memorable.. So pleased we chose this place as our choice to dine.. Fresh, tasty food, lovely environment..

Highly disappointing. They'd said there were recent issues, so taken with a pinch of salt. However, no mention that the card machine wasn't working upon arrival. Gin and tonic, was a gin and soda, not horrendous but still poor. Attempted to replace spinach with chicken for a vegetarian, much worse Apparently we are 'entitled' for then only paying for our drinks and not waiting for the food, which seemed like it would never come, given it took 20-30 minutes to say they had no spinach

Shocking staff! We arrived on a Saturday night to an empty restaurant which should of set off alarm bells, we ordered drinks , the choice was restricted as they said they had been broken into, fair enough we thought, my wife offered gin and tonic and was brought gin and a massive glass of soda water. Fine we thought, keep quiet they are obviously struggling, however they then took our food order, 20-30 mins they came back and said they had no spinach for a dish. At this point I decided that we would pay for drinks and leave however they took forever to bring the bill and then the staff became abusive. Will never go here again

Best Greek Food I've tried in England.

We were recommended by our Airbnb host, and we were not disappointed. The room, service and food were excellent. We really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and even the drizzle overlooking Shipley didn't damped our spirits!

What an amazing little Greek restaurant with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The “Godly Burgers” which have a very fitting name where phenomenal, definitely worth a try!!!!

What a shambles! We had to wait nearly 2 hours for our meal! The poor waiters kept on saying "your food is on the way". There was a big party of dinners, 16 of them getting served before us, however no meal should take that long to arrive. When we got the bill (of £140) we asked as a form of apology for the long wait, they would knock off the price of one bottle of wine (we had 2 ). All we got was abuse and were told" If you didn't want to wait you should have gone elsewhere" Luckily when the food did eventually arrive it wasn't too bad. If you want quick service do not go here.

Had food in the restaurant a few weeks ago and it was absolutely beautiful! Freshly cooked food, amazing friendly service and good quality for money. Offers take away also and it hasn’t disappointed. I don’t think I will ever order any other take away food apart from here. My husband left his coat in the restaurant and after contacting them a week later, we picked up the coat and it had been washed!! I cannot speak more highly of this place. They should offer the mixed shavings in a box with salad and pitta etc rather than in the pitta! Just a suggestion and I’m sure if I called them for this, they wouldn’t disappoint. Thank you 🙏🏻

Good value for money, and good service without being over-bearing. Tried two of the weekend specials on the servers recommendation, and thoroughly enjoyed. The spanakopita come baked or fried, and we went with fried. Got 3 courses each and enjoyed the lot. Bring cash for sure, they don't have a card machine. Visited Saturday 20/07/24

A busy Saturday night and the Acropolis were short of staff. A sweating Maitre D' and a young inexperienced waitress were front of house attempting to cope. On arrival I noticed you can look in from the street directly into the kitchen and watch meals being prepared, which was encouraging. However the decor looked tired and plastic fake grass on the steps up to the first floor restaurant with poor lighting and a wonky balcony rail would not have passed Health & Safety inspection. You can book in advance, but not reserve a table. All the window tables were taken on our arrival, so we sat in the gloomier centre of the room and squinted at the tiny print on the menu. The smiley main man arrived and started reeling off the specials available. We couldn't cope with the verbal overload so these passed us by. The volume of the Greek music being played didn't help either. I noticed the glazed looks on the faces of other customers he did this to as well. Quite why they don't have a blackboard on the wall with specials like many others do was rather puzzling. We asked to be moved to an available window table, which was quickly accomodated. We both had a starter and main course which came in a decent time and could not be faulted for flavour, quantity or presentation. My mixed kebabs were excellent. We explained we were in a celebratory mood at the end of the meal so I asked our waitress for a 7 star Metaxa Greek Brandy and my partner an Ouzo. She then brought me another glass of Pino Grigio and patently didn't know what Metaxa was. After some intervention and explanation to her from the Matrie D', the required spirit appeared and we were not charged for either. Apparently she had been working there for 3 months. We watched downstairs after our meal (whilst waiting for our taxi) as the kitchen attempted to service both the restaurant customers and the takeaway orders. It was organised chaos, but at least there was no attempt to hide it. I like to see restaurant customers given priority - but this is not always the case. The staff at the Acropolis in Shipley work really hard to give you a good experience but I'm afraid on this, our first occasion it wasn't. A large party of 10 arrived at 8pm with a baby and I suspect this rather overwhelmed the small team to the detriment of the other diners. £71 for two. At £6.50 a glass for the basic wine this added to the cost, so a bottle between two may be better. More experienced staff, better decor and quieter music would have made our first experience better. The food was excellent.

Went for a takeaway meal this afternoon. I have been a couple of times and the staff are always friendly. The food is always beautiful and freshly cooked and Healthy options. I will continue to support this friendly and local business. Thank you guy's.

Really, really great place. Beautiful upstairs seating and great food. It is cash only, but there is a cash point only round the corner. We had the sharing platter which I would definitely recommend. Our waiter was really knowledgable about all the dishes and specials too. Hidden gem for sure!

First visit this afternoon and absolutely delighted! Doesn't look much from the road but the upstairs restaurant is a real hidden gem with lovely views across to Shipley Glen. Food was excellent and service was friendly. So good we've booked to go back with family later this week!

It wasn’t busy but it is a week night. Staff were so lovely and attentive, we were made to feel welcome! Now the pork and chicken gyros…wow! The charcoal taste was incredible, so fresh and tasty. It tasted as if it was cooked on a BBQ. We will definitely return. Thank you
