Fabulous food and plenty of it. Had the two course set meal. Veg meze was amazing, tasty, piping hot and freshly cooked. Service was brilliant, really friendly and accommodating. Bargain price. Definitely recommend and will be going back here.

Visited this restaurant tonight as staying in Shipley overnight as part of our canal walk, Leeds to Skipton.. Welcome, Service and food we're all fantastic.. Our Waitress was absolutely lovely and made our visit memorable.. So pleased we chose this place as our choice to dine.. Fresh, tasty food, lovely environment..

Shocking staff! We arrived on a Saturday night to an empty restaurant which should of set off alarm bells, we ordered drinks , the choice was restricted as they said they had been broken into, fair enough we thought, my wife offered gin and tonic and was brought gin and a massive glass of soda water. Fine we thought, keep quiet they are obviously struggling, however they then took our food order, 20-30 mins they came back and said they had no spinach for a dish. At this point I decided that we would pay for drinks and leave however they took forever to bring the bill and then the staff became abusive. Will never go here again

Highly disappointing. They'd said there were recent issues, so taken with a pinch of salt. However, no mention that the card machine wasn't working upon arrival. Gin and tonic, was a gin and soda, not horrendous but still poor. Attempted to replace spinach with chicken for a vegetarian, much worse Apparently we are 'entitled' for then only paying for our drinks and not waiting for the food, which seemed like it would never come, given it took 20-30 minutes to say they had no spinach

Best Greek Food I've tried in England.

We were recommended by our Airbnb host, and we were not disappointed. The room, service and food were excellent. We really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and even the drizzle overlooking Shipley didn't damped our spirits!

What an amazing little Greek restaurant with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The “Godly Burgers” which have a very fitting name where phenomenal, definitely worth a try!!!!

What a shambles! We had to wait nearly 2 hours for our meal! The poor waiters kept on saying "your food is on the way". There was a big party of dinners, 16 of them getting served before us, however no meal should take that long to arrive. When we got the bill (of £140) we asked as a form of apology for the long wait, they would knock off the price of one bottle of wine (we had 2 ). All we got was abuse and were told" If you didn't want to wait you should have gone elsewhere" Luckily when the food did eventually arrive it wasn't too bad. If you want quick service do not go here.

Had food in the restaurant a few weeks ago and it was absolutely beautiful! Freshly cooked food, amazing friendly service and good quality for money. Offers take away also and it hasn’t disappointed. I don’t think I will ever order any other take away food apart from here. My husband left his coat in the restaurant and after contacting them a week later, we picked up the coat and it had been washed!! I cannot speak more highly of this place. They should offer the mixed shavings in a box with salad and pitta etc rather than in the pitta! Just a suggestion and I’m sure if I called them for this, they wouldn’t disappoint. Thank you 🙏🏻

Good value for money, and good service without being over-bearing. Tried two of the weekend specials on the servers recommendation, and thoroughly enjoyed. A busy Saturday night and the Acropolis were short of staff. A sweating Maitre D' and a young inexperienced waitress were front of house attempting to cope. On arrival I noticed you can look in from the street directly into the kitchen and watch meals being prepared, which was encouraging. However the decor looked tired and plastic fake grass on the steps up to the first floor restaurant with poor lighting and a wonky balcony rail would not have passed Health & Safety inspection. You can book in advance, but not reserve a table. All the window tables were taken on our arrival, so we sat in the gloomier centre of the room and squinted at the tiny print on the menu. The smiley main man arrived and started reeling off the specials available. We couldn't cope with the verbal overload so these passed us by. The volume of the Greek music being played didn't help either. I noticed the glazed looks on the faces of other customers he did this to as well. Quite why they don't have a blackboard on the wall with specials like many others do was rather puzzling. We asked to be moved to an available window table, which was quickly accomodated. We both had a starter and main course which came in a decent time and could not be faulted for flavour, quantity or presentation. My mixed kebabs were excellent. We explained we were in a celebratory mood at the end of the meal so I asked our waitress for a 7 star Metaxa Greek Brandy and my partner an Ouzo. She then brought me another glass of Pino Grigio and patently didn't know what Metaxa was. After some intervention and explanation to her from the Matrie D', the required spirit appeared and we were not charged for either. Apparently she had been working there for 3 months. We watched downstairs after our meal (whilst waiting for our taxi) as the kitchen attempted to service both the restaurant customers and the takeaway orders. It was organised chaos, but at least there was no attempt to hide it. I like to see restaurant customers given priority - but this is not always the case. The staff at the Acropolis in Shipley work really hard to give you a good experience but I'm afraid on this, our first occasion it wasn't. A large party of 10 arrived at 8pm with a baby and I suspect this rather overwhelmed the small team to the detriment of the other diners. £71 for two. At £6.50 a glass for the basic wine this added to the cost, so a bottle between two may be better. More experienced staff, better decor and quieter music would have made our first experience better. The food was excellent.

Went for a takeaway meal this afternoon. I have been a couple of times and the staff are always friendly. The food is always beautiful and freshly cooked and Healthy options. I will continue to support this friendly and local business. Thank you guy's.

Really, really great place. Beautiful upstairs seating and great food. It is cash only, but there is a cash point only round the corner. We had the sharing platter which I would definitely recommend. Our waiter was really knowledgable about all the dishes and specials too. Hidden gem for sure!

From the location, a busy main road, you could be forgiven for dismissing this restaurant, but we gave it a go & we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the staff were really welcoming and friendly and we will return.

First visit this afternoon and absolutely delighted! Doesn't look much from the road but the upstairs restaurant is a real hidden gem with lovely views across to Shipley Glen. Food was excellent and service was friendly. So good we've booked to go back with family later this week!

It wasn’t busy but it is a week night. Staff were so lovely and attentive, we were made to feel welcome! Now the pork and chicken gyros…wow! The charcoal taste was incredible, so fresh and tasty. It tasted as if it was cooked on a BBQ. We will definitely return. Thank you

Ordered a gyros for takeaway at the shop. This might be the best gyros I had in a long time. The food was exceptionally good, especially for the price. The people running the place are friendly. Will be definitely coming back.

Had a meal here tonight for the first time under the new management. It was amazing. The food was excellent, the service was great and all served with a big smile. I would recommend the Acropolis to anyone who enjoys good food at a reasonable price with great service. For a more personal recommendation, try the sharing meat platter, you will not be disappointed.

I ordered takeaway from Acropolis the food was the closest I've had to Greek food. The only thing I would add is that the chicken shewers and salad lacked flavor

We ordered online on the website from acropolis and they rejected my order. My 2 kids were very upset as they were looking forward to some yummy Greek food. I am certainly surprised as they usually accepted my orders. Hopefully i do get my refund within 5 days.

Having visited the takeaway for gyros many times, which are amazing, we have tried the restaurant on a couple of occasions for a family meal. It was a shame to see it so quiet on a Saturday night, no complaints about the food. It is more of a Grill style menu with a range of meats done really well, freshly cooked and succulent. A range of Greek starters, dips etc were nice. Limited wine selection ( some Greek wine would be nice). The young waitress on her own did a great job for our party, although there were a couple of environmental issues with the building, it did not spoil our evening. Do give this local business a try and support them.

Where to start? The menus we were given were tatty and dirty. The drinks menu was a printed sheet which was filthy, old and scrunched up like a piece of old newspaper. There was no mention of wine, but lots of cocktails. - ‘Sorry, no white wine, only red or rose’ Then, ‘No spanakopita, no tyropita, no potatoes and NO Lamb’ - in a Greek restaurant!! The menu wasn’t at all what you would expect; there was no moussake, no kleftiko, no stifado, in fact nothing that actually involved cooking. If it couldn’t be grilled or fried, it wasn’t there. The hummus was the most tasteless any of us have ever tasted. The pitas were good, the pork, the chicken and the beef patties were ok. They did go out and source some cheap Pinot Grigio, for which they charged £18. They managed to serve two large beers, but then only small bottles were available. The lights in the toilet were broken and there were battery candles instead - really not acceptable or hygienic. The server was fantastic, a young woman doing her best in trying circumstances, repeating the lines she’d been told to say, but the best line was ‘I’m sorry but deliveries come on a Friday for the weekend.’ So we had booked for 6 people on a Thursday night but no one could be bothered to make sure they had anything in store. It was a special occasion, in memory of a loved one who loved Greek food! We had lots of laughs at how poor it was, but really simply not good enough. We won’t be back.

A rare dinner put just my wife and I, this place did not dissapoint. Taking time for ourselves in our very busy schedules is not something we often get to do. We chose to try this resteraunt after driving past a week or so ago. Took us back to the ambience of our first holiday together in Greece pre covid. The staff were polite, friendly, happy to accommodate dietary requirements and openly shared eith us the history of the resteruant. The food was delicious, portions are huge. We ordered starters, I had dolmades and my wife had a feta and spinach pastry dish, we then shared the hot meat platter from the grill priced at £40.00. Meat was tender and flavourful, salads were fresh and zesty. It was far too much food for us both but now knowing the portion size, will be mindful while ordering next time. There definitely will be a next time and we plan to bring family and friends.

Lovely Saturday night at acropolis! Food was to die for! The calamari and halloumi to start. Best calamari I have had for a long time! Perfectly cooked. Then the mixed and chicken gyros. Mains lush. Staff were extremely attentive. Great date night in Shipley. Will be sure to return if we are ever in the area!

Absolutely fantastic food! There was a bit of a wait between courses but the lovely serving staff explained it and gave us a discount for our wait. Also the food was totally worth the wait, my husband was transported back to Crete with the dolmades and the Greek salad was absolutely delightful! We will definitely be back!

We were looking for somewhere different to eat ss a foursome in Shipley. The food here is authentic and absolutely delicious. All in our party thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The business, I think, has been based around takeaways in the past, but courageously is trying to take it to a further level. You should keep this in mind because this is not silver service, but the main point is that the food is spot on. By the way, I tried a takeaway tonight (a week later), and it will now be my favourite takeaway meal. Highly recommended.

Best greek food I've had around and from a greek persons (my partner) she said "it taste just like home and the best ive been to in the uk so far". The staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was also spot on, they had greek music playing and the setting was really nice. Would definitely recommend if you like actual authentic greek food👌👌

My husband and I have been getting acropolis takeaways for the last 2-3 years and love them. Last night we decided to eat in for the first time. The restaurant is a lovely surprise with lofty ceilings, greek photos and music. The music was a tiny bit loud for me. We ate: Creamy mussels Halloumi Mixed grill platter for 2 Baklava The food was amazing. The creamy mussels were out of this world delicious. The platter was extraordinary. I love the baklava. We thought it was excellent value for money, in fact my husband thought they were undercharging for the platter. The chef had a bit of a chat with us on the way out which is always nice in my opinion. I've already recommended to others and we'll be back. If they decide to deliver to the Keighley area in future we'll be able to increase our takeaways! Thanks

Sensationally Good authentic Greek food cooked with love. Every meal from this place is like a gift upon your taste buds! Highly recommended as far from fast food as you can get but worth every penny.

£45 for this is a bit of a joke really. The three dips you see cost £7.50!!!!! Not the worst but honestly won't be paying these prices for the portion sizes again. Not to mention four or five starters on the menu were out of stock

Wierd location. Looks like a takeaway but there is a restaurant part to it on the top floor. The food is okay but astonishingly expensive for what it is. More costly to eat here than in a renowned eatery like Tapas, Shimla or Waterways.

Our first time ordering from here, after reading so many good reviews I was disappointed. We had two lamb gyros, what little lamb in there was over cooked and just tasted burnt. Far too many chips and not enough lamb (5 medium pieces) salad or dressing.

Well if you closed your eyes, smelled the delicious food and listened to the music. You could actually be in Greece. We were given a warm welcome by the friendly staff. We had the grill platter for 2, which was a portion generous in flavour and size. The souvlaki, the chops, the sausage all cooked and seasoned to perfection. With dips, salad, chips and sauces. Lovely fairplay, I eat all over the country and this was on a par with the best I've had

Visited with my wife on a Sunday, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Aoife looked after us and she couldn't have done more. Lovely atmosphere, great staff, and above all the food was amazing.

Oh my god, the food here is amazing. The staff are all so kind and sweet, they gave me some cake for my birthday free of charge and played music and wished me a great day. A real sense of appreciation is felt here. I would also say to anyone who eats here come here on an empty stomach cause the portions are large and real good quality. I kid you not, if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be the halloumi and hummus gyros, an absolute combination.... Get it with the sweet chilli sauce... You'll thank me later. Anyways thank you to lovely staff, you guys deserve it!
