terrible food bar staff are very rude wouldnt go again

Not all but some bar staff very rude, almost intimidating, terrible service, food is very bad, has a dirty grotty feel to it like needs a good clean toilets upstairs are the same. Not going again

I thought we would give a Marston's pub again after some bad experiences. Well nothing has changed much. Staff are clueless. Had to repeat our order over and over. She even got the order wrong. Food was nothing special.

i’ve been to the Acorn twice now and had exceptional service and quality of food is amazing

Lovely food and great value, service was excellent. Brilliant for families, we took our youngest and she was very happy.

Lovely place to have a drink and keep warm ,with the open fires during winter months, during the summer it's lovely all the windows are open and they have a lovely outdoor seating area .

The first thing we noticed were the friendly staff, the menu is good and the food was served quickly. The food quality was very good and the prices reasonable.

Had a wedding reception here and the staff made us feel welcome. Things for the kids to do for entertainment and the food was amazing. Great place at a good price.

We went to visit for food on Sunday we booked for 5 we got our table ordered our food for 4 adults the service was great the food tastes lovely we will be going again 😊

First time using this pub unfortunately they had staffing problems at the time but they let us know in time before they closed the kitchens so we could get our orders in they handled the situation very well the food was lovely arrived quickly and was hot very helpful and friendly staff and atmosphere so much so we stopped longer than first planned will definitely use again highly recommend

A nice local pub, but expensive drinks and some dated furniture let the place down, as well of a lack of quality real ales and ciders

We booked up for a meal 8pm to 9 30 as we got their my wife went up for a drink and was told if we didn't order straight away we wouldn't get any food ! So what was the point in booking for 8pm anyway the food came out it was nothing special infact it was not nice to eat at all no taste won't be going back again!!!

staff were lovely. the service was superb. came out so quick!! so i really have to complaints. and they take the blue light discount. which knocked £7 off the price. love it. !

It was a very friendly atmosphere, spacious too! Loved how you could sit in your own space and not be crushed table to table with other customers. Staff were super friendly like all of them, I’ve never met a place where all the staff were so lovely. It’s quite hot outside and the pub is chill and cool, which is amazing too. Overall, booked for Father’s Day and plan to come again after that!

The food was good,the inside needs attention some of the seating is torn and the decor needs a update the toilets are upstairs so probably difficult for wheelchair but overall a good pub

Service prompt and good. Food beautifully cooked- our medium-rare steaks cooked to perfection. In fact, the best pub meal in a long time. Highly recommended.

Attended a private function here, very friendly staff and nice buffet lunch.

The staff are very welcoming. The food was hot and very enjoyable. We went with our grandson and his girlfriend who thought also the food was first class. The service was excellent. We could not fault it in any way. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Laura working hard with the team to make the place a great community pub. Events, clubs, and various weekend festivals all supporting this. The brewery should put a bit of money behind it in terms of refurbishment, long overdue and a very well used pub.

The food was alright, and the service satisfactory, but this is not a venue we would want to visit again. A kid allowed to bounce a football around, and while dining, I had the back of my head banged twice by a guy taking his coat off, as they occupied a table behind us and discussed if that was a good place or another, giving more room? The place was not warm and inviting, and even with 30% off main meals, we felt it was still overpriced! The car park was off-putting, with more pot holes than found on highways! Scruffy, sums things up, sadly.

Went for Sunday Roast Meat so overcooked it was too tough to eat Vegetables cold and again overcooked Potatoes burnt Was the worst roast dinner in many years Went to support our local and extremely disappointed Manager refunded the 3 meals but by then the occasion was ruined Should have got it all free Will never recommend or go back Be wary

Staff was lovely and although the food was tasty our Christmas dinner was served to us cold, most the potato’s were black the yorkshire puddings and tart were undercooked and the gravy watery. I requested disabled access but was not given that had to walk to a very narrow table with little space. tables were too close together our backs were touching with other families. Little bit disappointing as this was our first experience at Christmas eating out. Overall i will not be dining back here.

Went here with the little football team poppys fc u6 christmas party. They hosted this absolute perfect. Food came out really quick. And fresh. Food was perfect for me. And staff and owners was polite. Would recommend to anyone worth the 20 mins drive.

Bar staff hit and miss. Get a good one and your experience will be great.... get one of the unhappy miserable ones and you'll get terrible service. Not sure why some people go in to a service role when they just aren't suited to it.

Went to order food ĵust before 8 and told kitchen about to close! Ordered 2 lasagna.. not available so changed and paid for order. Staff came over and said no fish! Was scampi OK. Order arrived with garden peas not mushy as per order Also scampi cheaper than fish... but not offered refund on difference. Will not be going back! Shocking service, Average food!

Thursday evening, really quite quiet. But unfortunately, it took an age to get the food. 2 hours in total from arriving to leaving, with two younger kids wasn't ideal. Food was good. EastEnders was on the TV, so the Mrs was happy enough.

They didn’t have the pie I wanted, but the kids ate for £1 and the food was nice.

Decent pub, slightly overpowering dog smell; bit of febreeze daily on the fabrics would do the trick. Great prices.

Terrible! Staff were rude, told us to sit anywhere so we found a table that was easily accessible to the bar as my dad is disabled. Only a few minutes later, a staff member came and asked us to move due to a quiz night completely contradicting telling us to sit anywhere. My poor dad struggled to get up and move to another table. When we were ready to order, they then decided to tell us that only half the menu was available! They should’ve told us this as soon as we walked in. Very rude, unhelpful and very bad first experience of this place. Will never go back! Very disrespectful of disabled people also.

i used to be a regular here few years back,went up yesterday and its still a good pint of fosters and its nice place to visit and sit outside when the weather is nice.

Attended the Paint & Sip Night. It was fabulous, great staff and nice and clean

Excellent family day for the Coronation. Live music, fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. Kids and adults all enjoyed it. Pleased to hear it could be an annual event !

Very noisy and extremely slow service. Cold salad put onto hot plates. Car park lines have faded so much you can't see them or where the disabled bays are if any.

Ordered via the QR code on the menus with our phones. Sat here for over 30 minutes waiting for our starters, the manager (wearing keys around her neck and a cardigan falling off her shoulder) couldn't even find our table and had to get bar staff to assist her meaning our warm starter was cold upon arrival. We still had no drinks after finishing our starters. When our starters were placed Infront of us they were practically dumped with zero customer service, no asking if we wanted sauces or drinks. The lady who served us our starters has been daudling around the venue with a grumpy face giving off the impression she hates her job leaving an awful atmosphere for customers. Whilst waiting for our drinks we have seen multiple bar staff stood around doing nothing, why can't they serve us our drinks. Two tables around us also remained filthy our entire time sat here. At the 40 minute mark we had to approach the bar for our drinks, "sometimes we just don't know if they don't print out" but they knew about our starters... The lack of uniform is also appalling, floor staff wearing oversized hoodies, not exactly a welcoming image. £5.25 for a starter of wings and ribs, one rib and a few tiny wings. When clearing a table a family were sat at she dragged the baby seat the entire length of the dining area creating a horrible noise. 50 mins and then mains arrived.steak was raw, not blue, but raw. Mushrooms were raw, peas still frozen in places, dry chicken, raw gammon, raw spots in sausages. We complained about the raw gammon, she offered to replace it but did not appologise. A bar staff came over and apologized on managers behalf offering free drinks, it should have been the manager who aplogised. A new gammon arrived around 10-15 mins after the complaint. A few mouthfuls in and the taste was just not right, the eggs were extra slimey and something on my husband's plate smelled like rotten meat. We barely touched our food and feel like we have wasted a large amount of money and precious time together with this place, we shall not be returning and suggest other customers avoid the good as at this rate they will kill someone. There was dirt all over the grilled meats, not chard parts, but dirt, the grill clearly has not been cleaned in a long while. Edit ** the free pint my husband has got is flat. Glasses are in serious need of renovation, possible reason for beer tasting flat.

Ordered a steak meal. It came is very good time but the steak was a bit gristly although cooked to perfection as was everything else. When asked how it was, I told the lady the truth. She immediately asked if I wanted it changed, I said it was ok but she insisted. A new fresh meal was brought that was far better. The steak was better and the peas, onion rings, chips etc were as the first plate, cooked to perfection. If a better quality steak was used, the meal would have been as good as Miller & Carter at a 1/4 of the price. All in all an excellent meal for the price, superb attitude and service from wonderful bar staff. Will definitely go again.

Went for food earlier in the week, fast service and tasty, would recommend coming in for food or even just drinks as the staff are all lovely.

Came in for a catch up with family and enjoyed lunch. The staff were really friendly and let me know about the burger and pint deal. There was some sort of kids club on and a wake what had a buffet. The buffet looked fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Called in for lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. Decent selection of beers and extensive menu of good value dishes.
