Ordered 2 calzones. Walked 5 mins up road to find them. Checked then on a food probe that read 32°. cold. Rang up and wife went back. Girl behind counter said she would make us 2 more then manager walked in and said take what you have or pay for 2 more. Went down myself to get a mouthfuls of abuse and to be told they went cold walking home and then got started on be 2 drunks in the shop. Absolute joke. Never again

Chicken had hair in it and one piece out of the 2 I got to eat tasted off.

Previously I had problem with undercooked food. It has been improved after talking with owner. Currently waiting time is shocking. 2x previously placed orders for collection had over 1h waiting time. When I came 40min after placing order my ticket was still hanging in front desk not been passed to kitchen. Today my order has been cancelled. This is enough for me. NOT RECCOMENDED - Ackies under new management can't provide food in good standard.

I don't usually post reviews but had to let you know that the food here is shockingly bad! Ordered chicken tikka for 7.30pm came at 7.50pm. Tikka very hot and very salty so inedible, rice greasy, bhaji very spicy. Rang and complained offered a replacement. Didn't want to chance another curry so ordered tikka nann and chips. After ringing another 3 times, eventually arranged 9.20pm. In the meantime I'd rung to say it was too late and I wanted a refund. When manager eventually arrived with food he said he'd refund the different if they found anything wrong with the original meal which I'd had to put back in the containers and give him back!! Got completely past wanting to eat by then but was going to have the chips, but they were barely warm and really didnt taste good, whatever they cooked them in wasnt very nice! So much for a treat on a Saturday night! Unbelievable, never known anything like it. Avoid at all cost!!!

Took 2 hours for my order to come. 2nd time ordering and late again, wont be ordering from there again.

This place is a no-go the curry meat is fully cooked then stored in metal containers then left in fridges that haven't been cleaned or maintained to the safe temperatures to keep food from carrying harmful bacteria that leads to food poisoning all the meats and pies including the kebab meat that goes in your mixed nan kebab are microwaved and touch your food without gloves or washed hands and serve customers with half frozen fish and if no fish are left they put the fish under hot tap water to defrost it with dirty hands they do not clean the shop or have any clue of food hygiene I would not recommend this takeaway to anyone and only put the 1star because I would not be able to post this review

Really surprised at how good this was! With a name like Ackies and the looks of the place I would have thought the food would be awful but no it was great! Fish and chips were great portions and tasted amazing, curry's were nice portions too and great taste although the chicken did have many chewy fatty bits and curry's were not labelled so unclear as to which was which. Kebab was huge and the donner meat was gorgeous. Lovely sauces too. Will definitely be back.

made a mistake on one of the pizza but i phoned and they are sending a new one out, mixed naan kebab was the best ive ever had, fish was hot fresh and delicious, kids loved the donner wraps too we will defo be going back xx

Collected food from this store over a week ago now got it home was the wrong order so rang up was offered the food to be replaced had to speak to them 4 times last week alone. Finally spoke to a woman today at 3:30 pm where she told us the replacement order would arrive at 4:30. Food still not been delivered it is now 20:40 rang every hour to be told it was ten minutes away then the driver was busy and was in Liverpool now they aren't answering the phone to us at all. Absolute joke of a place considering they were the ones who got our order wrong in the first place!!

Amazing food would recommend the doner meat it's tasty

Just bought 4 curries and oh my god. This is the first salty korma I’ve ever tasted. The food was late, luke warm, microwaved salty mush. All tasted the same disgusting. Avoid this place if your really hungry eat your money it will taste better than anything this slop shop will serve you.

ordered 2 large fish well done at £4,75 each 2 cortons of peas ...in total £11,30 the fish was mainly batter and the peas were all water total garbage.... and that is where it all went.. should have just put my money in the bin**** this is one place to avoid unless you can aford to throw your money away..

Ordered a chippy tea. 2 large chips, fish, sausages and a tub of curry. Never delivered. I called twice and was given the speech “it’ll be 10 mins”, still nothing. 2 1/2 hours after the initial order (5:50pm), I drove the 1.6 mile journey in 5 mins to collect in person. Food was ok but the experience made it all much worse. Never ordering from Ackie’s again!!! They did apologise for the wait, however 😕

Basically the worst indian food I have ever tasted.the main meal curry dishes were not the least bit authentic.we tried it and won't bother again an expensive test and one not to be repeated.

This place should be arrested for the way they treat the food that they are giving to humans to consume ....1/2 cooked, cold and 80 minutes to deliver exactly from 1 mile Souther Fried chicken was burger chicken fillet, calzone was like a pot of soup wrapped in salty bread, chips were raw

Great chippy, the food is well priced and always good quality, plus the staff are always very polite and friendly, and listen to any requirements with the meals. Our favourite place for chips

Just delivered food. Missed out a meal. We only ordered for 4 ppl. Didn’t deliver on time either. My calzone wasn’t nice at all. As they missed a meal & waited 20 mins for it they missed the sauce on the kebab too the meal we was missing No apology offered no refund. We will not be ordering from these again!!!! I put my calzone in the bin. The kebab which was late was also not nice. My partner agreed he will not be ordering again. July 2020.

Was excited about trying their pizzas and got drawn in by their special offers. Pizzas were flavourless and somewhat burned. Chips are okay and the service was friendly.

Asked for a lightly battered fish, and wasn't and greasy not sure if they understand social distancing???

When i went to ackie,s i went to get a sausage and it looked 1 week old

Awesome food, extremely good value for money, although the owner/chef is very good at cooking and really does it properly (like freshly grilled awesomely marinated chicken for wraps), orders tend to get mixed up, so double check these things. From 5 orders there were 3 mistakes. Calling to make sure helps. Otherwise, definitely a must try place, very sincere cooking.

Re-reviewed 2019-09 - Ackies had changed owners. Different staff, different chefs, different shop. Ordered using their new online app (good idea!), which I couldn't specify gravy, or full salad on burgers. instead I had to add to the comments. 2 cheese burgers and 1 tower burger all with full salad and red sauce, 2 chips and a gravy. What we received was 2 cheese burgers and a tower burger with no salad at all on any of them. No sauce on any of them. 2 lots of chips. And no gravy until I requested it in shop. The burgers were average. The chips average. The gravy lumpy, and the chicken in the tower burger, didn't seem fully cooked. So I'd say this place is not the previous quality of Ackies. It's a shame. They also have dropped Chinese from the menu and instead added pizzas. So this is now mainly a pizza and burger venue, not a classic chippy. As we used to drive 10 miles to go to Ackies previously as they were that good a chippy. Much better fast food chippies in the area. We will be looking else where. In 2018 my review was... - Ackies is a proper English chippy. Great chips, great fish, great burgers, also very nice and tasty Chinese meals and curries. If we are having a chippy tea I will drive 5 miles to here rather than a closer chippy!

They fry their stuff in beef oil so vegeterians can’t even have bloody chips there!! How stupid, they’re losing out on so many customers!

Phoned up at 13:20 to place collection order and they said they are closing now, they are open til 13:30 supposedly

Great friendly service and wait not too long if waiting in the chippy however they do deliver also. Food us usually good and tasty however sometimes they may have off days as I am sure other take always do.

Ordered here for the first time off just eat.never again my kids were waiting for their food to be delivered and when it dis come certain things were missing.yet their quick.at taking your money

£5.90 for a mixed grill... I couldn't believe how little meat was on it.. Small sausage, 3 small strips of liver, piece of pork and a very small round circle of steak! We thought that more meat must be hiding under the chips.. Really poor value for money

Was working down the road, thought we would give it a go,, BIG FLASHING SIGN with opening times 11 am till 20:00pm, it was busy around 1 ish so thought I would wait, well don't bother, his big flashing sign is wrong and informs people there open when clearly not, Not impressed

Just awful.Took an hour to deliver two fried rice dishes,both greasy as hell and the chicken was so over done and dry it was uneatable.Will not be ordering from here again.

The Chicken pieces were cold, chip were raw and my soup tasted like warm water with no flavour to it what so ever. Won't be going or recommending to anyone!

worst Chinese meal I've ever tasted.. got shredded chilli beef and it was literally devoid of flavour and inedible. luckily enough the boss was OK about it and gave me refund.. when there chef gets sacked I will go back. used to be a great little chippy that.. gutted..
