Wangs in St. Helens

A fantastic dining experience from beginning to end! The flavors were top-notch, the presentation was artistic, and the service was excellent.

I forgot how poor this takeaway is for customer service and delivery. After placing an order over 2 hours ago I’m still waiting for it to be delivered the 4 minute journey. After delays and delays I phoned the takeaway and told them to cancel the order when I was I can’t cancel as my food was ready and waiting the driver. When I advised that’s not my issue i was told delays where the weathers fault (it’s raining) and that the driver arrived and I’d have my order in 5 mins. That was 30 mins ago and I’m still waiting, I called again to be told they’d phone the driver and call me back. Food finally arrived a further 15 mins after my second call. Fried rice arrived like warm but would have been beautiful if arrived hot. Chips were warmish but couldn’t be eaten after ten mins of eating as stone cold. Curry sauce was again lukewarm. Do not order from here if you want to eat hot food the same evening you order your food. Worst delivery and customer service I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the UK when ordering food. Delays and cold food are the customers fault apparently.

*REPLY TO RESTURAUNT*: you are still doing it now. Accusing us of lying about bloody noodles. We rang as soon as we got our food to let you know the noodles were missing. We spent 40 pound on an order why would we lie about a portion of noodles being missing. It's an absolutle disgrace. Honestly I've never experienced anything like it before. The food that did come was absolutely vile, I'm not even just saying it because you've forgot our noodles then accused us of lying about it and argued with us on the phone, it was genuinely disgusting the food. I hate to put bad reviews, but the way you treated us on the phone and now continue to do in the reply is awful. Absolute disgrace forgot our noodles, we rang up and they told us that basically we were lying and started arguing with us. We've spent 40 pound on food and waited ages absolute disgrace food is absolute vile as well. Don't go here

Ordered food that took ages to come, finally got it and was missing items. Rang the restaurant to hopefully get the rest of the order sent out and the women accused me of lying saying they definitely put the order in the bag. Spent £40 and the food was disgusting, everything was chewy and almost inedible. Will never return to this place again absolutely disgusting service and food.

The server was extremely rude. I didn't know they don't take card but only cash. I ordered over £30 of food. When I got there to take my order and brought out card it was like I stepped on her tail. Shouting and talking in her language and telling the others back in the kitchen God knows what. My last time will be today. Never will I order food or stepped in that food joint. I couldn't eat the food I lost my appetite. Told my colleagues and friends and some of them have same experience. She's extremely rude. I won't say I like her

Its ok but if ya order anything with steak or beef its just small strips even in the mixed grill but it's sound for like fried rice and chips litrally just that 1 small issue every thing else is good

Did an order for £49 for collection, when we got home 2 items were missing, rang them and asked about it and they said they were sorry call back! So our son had to drive all the way back…..wait for it to be cooked….where was it if we didn’t have it?!?!?! Then offered a can of pop for his cold tea that was left at home!!!! Absolute joke! This is after speaking to the “manager” 5 times who doesn’t speak English! Wouldn’t mind but what we got wasn’t the best (soup was like water and everything else was cold) don’t value their customers at all

Always order online, the service i receive is great any food i dont like i edit the meals for difficult people and they always cater to it. Lots of choice for meals and great tasting food I wouldn't go anywhere else

This has to be the worst Chinese meal I have ever had, seaweed stale and not crispy and the chop suey chicken was boiled chicken with bean sprouts carrot and sweet n sour sauce, absolutely vile!!!. I called the shop n the lady said ‘that’s how it comes love, bye’

Was sceptical because of some reviews but glad I ignored them. It was actually one of the best Chinese food I've had in a while, the sweet and sour was rich and flavorful not watery and sugary like some other places. Chow main and honey chilli beef were lovely too. Would recommend.

Ordered tonight 29th Oct..shocking delivery service. The deliverer ( female ) was disgusting. Said she'd rang us as twice as she arrived..she never. The only call we had off her was when she proceeded to scream at us down the phone that she'd been sat outside our address for 30 mins..she hadn't as we'd been looking out for our delivery for a good 35 mins before it was even due. So when a different driver finally arrived with our order it was luke warm and really tough. Never ordering from here again!! £22.50 wasted!

We have just had chicken curry with ham fried rice, boiling hot when it arrived :) It was lovely and the chips were perfect too. The lady who took the telephone order was also very pleasant. Thank you we will be ordering again.

Not impressed. Ordered twice now, curry sauce has a horrible burned taste. Spring rolls are cheap and tasteless. Soups are so sloppy it’s like jelly. Nothing seems fresh at all. Even the fried rice they can’t seem to get right. Really miffed after spending nearly 40 quid and the only thing half decent was the prawn crackers. Not ordering from here again.

Took about 2 hours to come ordered a mixed grill and prawn crackers. The prawn crackers wer freezing . The mixed grill was ALL liver and chips might of found a half of steak no sausage no chops absolutely disgusting . NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!! Most of it was put in bin!

This establishment needs closing down. The place is filthy inside with grease and dirt everywhere and as for the food. The chips where swimming in oil as tho the cooking oil had not been change for months and as for the chicken burger its an insult to call it a burger, never even buttered the barm!. As I value my families health i wont be making a return visit.

Ordered my usual at heavily hiked up price. I requested after 7pm and it came at 6.45pm . The food was luke warm and no where near the standard I expected . I have been a loyal customer for years but very disappointed in food tonight substandard ingredients with far too many water chestnuts to bulk it up . I didnt mind the extra delivery fee or service charge but not even to get our usual complimentary bag of prawn crackers!!! just topped it off ...waste of money and much of it wasted ...could have made it better myself and at a fraction of the price..AVOID obviously not caring about customer satisfaction

First visit to Wangs tonight set meal B for 2 people absolutley first class food piping hot good size portions and very tasty.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS TAKEOUT. My husband had stomach cramps and my son sickness along with stomach cramps. The food was swimming in grease, some of it cold. We left a lot of it. I will now be contacting the food standards agency. Reported it to Wangs the same evening I was told I would get a response from the owner. Explained we wanted a full refund, they requested photos which were sent, still no refund. As the previous reviewer had a 3 hour wait Christmas Eve,. The owners got greedy taking advantage of the busy period but should have warned clients of the horrendous wait. No thought or interest in their customers, appalling service.

I have used Wang's for years but after the way we have been treated tonight I will never use them again. I know it's Christmas Eve and we expected some delay if they are busy, but we ordered a meal online at 7:30 and it has just arrived at 22:13. We have ring them twice to enquire about the order. The first call was at 9pm, an hour and a half since placing the order and we're told that they were busy and we're in the process of cooking the food. We accepted the reason of them being busy but we have once again had to ring them as still no food. I think at the very least they could have rung and explained that the food would only be delivered after 10pm. It's almost bedtime and we are hungry. This company needs to reasses it's customer service. After being a loyal customer of theirs for many years, I will not be giving them my custom in the future.

We tried this Chinese for the first time on just eat tonight it was the most disgusting food we have ever eaten from a take away in 30 years. The food was stone cold the beef and chicken dishes after we re heated them had a terrible smell to them.we had to put everything in the bin please please avoid this like the plague we cannot put into words how awful it was.

Bought a bottle of Coke for £2.70 that was OUT OF DATE and they refused to give us a refund for it.

For a small takeout it was overrun with online delivery drivers waiting for orders and costing extra waiting time for over the counter customers. No social distancing and priority given to online delivery men first. Waited 30 minutes for a bag a chips and dry when received.

First time at this chippy tonight absolutely disgusting and very disappointing I ordered a salt and pepper chicken box and it was not salt it was sugar 🤢!! I rang back to complain and they always but sugar on there SALT AND PEPPER CHICKEN BOXES as I was told from the manager. I will never order again from this place 🤮🤮🤮

Me and my boyfriend were craving a salt and pepper munchie box and boy did they deliver. Not only was the food shockingly quick to arrive but the box was busting with food ( it had to be taped shut) and the food is so tasty!! Will be ditching our usual for Wangs!!

The salt and pepper dishes are amazing as well as the rice. The salt and pepper tofu was incredible. This will for sure be our new local Chinese takeaway.

S&s chicken was solid and rubbery like it was cooked and recommended x chicken and Cantonese only edible was chicken threw whole meal away 50 worth of orders in the bin never order from their again

I have been using and recommending Wang's for years as it was so good, not any more. The last meal I had was absolutely disgusting, the worst Chinese I've ever had, the chicken was like cardboard, the rest of the meal was mainly onions. I believe that new owners are responsible for the downhill slide, they don't seem to have a clue how to run a business. My advice is that you stay well clear of this place, shame really as it used to be so good,

Recently got new owners and the food had gone completely down hill. I got sweet and sour pork with fried rice and barbecue spare ribs. The rice was stodgy and tasteless. The sweet and sour pork was doughy and tasteless pork with an aftertaste. The ribs where fatty and again tasteless. This tasted like really cheap meat. On top of that, all the prices have gone up. You used to get a meal then an extra 60p for fried rice, now it's £2.50 extra. I've been going to Wangs for years and have loved this place but now avoiding. Don't waste your money.

Absolutely disgusting! We ordered a salt and pepper box, had one a couple of months ago and it was lovely. It was disgusting this time, spring rolls were like dry cardboard. Chicken so tough, tastes like it’s been cooked and recooked. It was Luke warm. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Ordered food before 5pm to be able to come from work and have food there. I had to wait an hour and half for being told that food hasn't even left the shop, because they are busy. I literall live 2 minutes away from the shop. Snotty shop assistant wasn't helpful at all, neigher the manager or whoever was called herself a manager. Food has always been nice, but this kind of messing about with orders doesn't class as good costumer service at all

Tonight’s salt n pepper chicken was a big disappointment... think they forgot the salt n pepper! Beef mushroom was also very tasteless. Put me off ordering from here again.

Then the food finally came the woman said i need to put my number on in future as shes shes driving round for ages.. sorry love its 1 street. Simple enough to ring and ask a door number.. the food was barely warm and chips were soggy. Will not be returning.

In the past we have had meals from Wang's which have been freshly cooked, tasty and most importantly have not made us ill. Tonight we ordered £40+ worth of dishes for 3 adults and one child. We rang for our order just before they opened at 5.00p.m. the food arrived at 5.30. All the food was neither hot nor freshly cooked. Chips were cold and soggy. It was the most disappointing meal we have had. most of it went in the bin. Sorry Wang's we won't be ordering again.

Absolute garbage! Ordered 2 Thai red curries, received 2 green nondescript liquids with chillies. Picked out what we could and ditched the rest. Called wangs to complain, needless to say it fell on deaf ears. Never again.

If I could give it no stars I would, ordered a meal and came with no rice, phoned back and apparently you have to order it extra?? So now my dinners cold with no rice and I had to pay an extra £2 for them to send rice out so overall spent a ridiculous price for awful quality food and poor service Not impressed

I just bought Mixed Vegetables in Szechuan Sauce (+ Noodles) and Chicken in Szechuan Sauce (+ Fried Rice) I called and it was confirmed that it was sweet the sauce would not have pepper, it came full of pepper to the point that I'm throwing in the trash can not eat. Lack of customer responsiveness. I'm very disappointed..

Not had a full meal from here for a while, but I've had chips and both times have been ill. Found out they have a 1 star hygeine rating. Can't say I'm surprised! Change your oil once in a while Wang's! Won't be back unless it's taken over by someone else. Hopefully they won't try to kill off their customers.

Looking for somewhere new to try had heard this place mentioned thought we would try the salt and pepper box lots of picky bits to try. Opened it looks lovely but everything tasted like it had been cooked it old oil and it all tasted the same couldn't eat it barbecue sauce was horrible too. Would never buy from there again.

I ordered two meals, one with rice and one with noodles at 6.31 this evening for delivery at 7.15. At 7.45 I phoned Wangs to enquire where my order was. I was told by the lady on the other end of the phone that the order was just leaving the takeaway and would be with us as soon as possible. My order arrived at 8.05, 50 minutes later than I was quoted on the website. No apology from the driver who delivered the order. When we checked the order, the rice and the noodles we missing. I phoned Wangs again and spoke to the same lady who I had previously spoke to. She said they would send out rice and noodles but she couldn’t say how long it would be, so our meals may get cold. Or she said that next time we placed an order we would get free rice and noodles. I informed her that we would not be using wangs again because of the service we had received so I asked for a refund. She said that she could only refund the cost of the rice and noodles because we had received the rest of the meal. I said that it wasn’t good enough and wanted a full refund. She told me told hold the line while she asked about a full refund. When she came back on the phone she told me that she could only refund the rice and noodles and the driver would deliver the refund as cash when he was in the area. This is the worse customer service I have ever encountered and will NOT be using Wangs again and would advise that no-one waste their money on crappy customer service, unapologetic staff and warm mediocre food.

We have been ordering here for years and over the last few months the order is consistently wrong..it's either something in the meal you ask not them to leave it ..or items are missing I've tried and tried but it's always the same I don't think anyone ever checks before sending out it's only young girls too sorry lost my custom now

Deserves a better rating this place. Delivery drivers courteous, staff in shop fast serviced, and food is great.

Foods not too shabby, staff aren't fabulous, but eventually get the job done.

Food is hit and miss to be fair... and always get the order wrong

"Avoid" Hit and miss sometimes it was ok, then sometimes waiting for hour then not all food there and then have to wait again. (More than once). But final straw was finding a clump of dirt mixed with long black hair (like floor sweepings is only way best to describe it) half way down a bag of prawn crackers, knowing that me & my kids had already eaten them!!! I couldn't eat anything else that night and still feel sick when I think about it!! Knowing ur all blondies there was no chance it was from our house!! Environmental heath informed waiting on them picking up the evidence to investigate further!! All I can say is avoid, avoid, avoid! ! Only put 1 star so could review would be 0 if possible! !!

take care of deliveries prior to waiting customer by constsntly answering phone and you stand waiting 30 minutes if you go in to order and then given cold chips

Chinese food okay but not fantastic, some dished we have had are a bit bland and could be better, but we will try again at some point.
