I was recommended this place from friends via the grapevine. The owner is the son of one of the original balti restaurants from the balti triangle back in the day. I wasn't expecting much, as I remember going to them back then, and they were very simple affairs. They were no frills for certain, but this takes no frills a step further. Crude is an understatement. Expect greasy spoon level of service and (worse) food. Oh and heating - you will eat in your coat for sure. Clean your own table to. Plate? I didn't get one. Others on the table did but there was recycling of plates for sure. You have been warned. In short, way overrated unless you want a full 100% authentic Pakistan/Indian side of road cafe/food place experience

Wasn't sure about this place due to it having mixed reviews but i really fancied a traditional curry! We ordered a mix of lamb and Chiken curry and a Chiken balti along with some kathlamas. Food was absolutely lush!!! We even got some pakoras on the house and overall the food took me back home! So so delicious! 4 stars purely because we rang ahead to double check if they was open, got told they was, drove from nottingham to Abdul's, excluding the traffic got there in good time and they was closed, chef allowed us in and we waited over an hour till 2 members of staff came for us to then be served, overall over an hour and half to be served due to them doing the school run. I did find that a bit unusual and unprofessional as according to google they was open so realistically we shouldn't have waited around but we was left with no choice as this was the only restaurant open and with the best reviews. I would deffo go back and 100% recommend it.

We as a family used to eat at Saleems on Ladypool road until they closed and re located. We like the people. Their souls are of pure gold and the food is of a good price. It was a little cold when we went last time. That would be our only criticism.

So glad to discover Saleems has reopened in this guise. The same value for money tasty food that we used to get in Ladypool Road. Abdul's menu and cooking is totally replicated here by Ref is and his small team. My chicken Balti was just like it used to be (haven't had one as good for years) and roti and naan as good as you get.

Fantastic and friendly, the owner is one of the originals from the balti triangle. Saleem’s on the lady pool road, I was a customer of theirs for at least 25 years. The naans are to die for not to mention his catlamas. If you want an authentic balti there is nowhere better.

Having read rave reviews and having heard an article on Radio 4 we came to Abdul's with high hopes....and were seriously disappointed. It was nothing like the balti houses we used to visit 30 years ago. Spotlessly clean, friendly service, but very poor food. For starters we had pakora and chicken tikka. The pakora was stodgy, the chicken tikka dry. For mains we had two different chicken baltis. One was very dry, the other in what looked (and tasted) like curry flavoured Bisto gravy. To cap it all, the naan was the worst that I have ever had - undercooked, flabby and tasteless. Extremely poor food, extremely poor value - the baltis are £7.75 each. There are plenty of far better places to go.

Pure Pakistani heavenly food. Rich, succulent meat balti, packed with soft chunks of meat, fluffy naan to mop it up with. This is probably the last truly authentic balti house left in Birmingham, they used to run Saleem's on Ladypool Road, and we all know the rest of the restaurants on Ladypool Road are a shadow of what they were years ago. Support Abdul's, use it or lose it.

Very disappointing experience. The salad was completely soaked, clearly having sat in a fridge for several days, and tasted off. The naan bread wasn’t fresh either, dry from being pre-cooked. As for the tikka sauce, it was the worst I’ve ever tasted—and I’ve had countless over the years. It’s frustrating to write this after paying good money for a meal, but I won’t be returning.
