Great food and service from the Bistro, went there for dinner and breakfast (twice). Food is well cooked and reasonably priced. Portions are great and they are so accommodating (dairy allergy).

We recently stayed nearby and the Abbey farm bistro was recommended to us by the landlord of our holiday cottage. The staff were warm and welcoming and the food was excellent. We booked for 5 Sunday lunch. It's our fifth visit over a span of a few years. We visit the area and booked there as we are close. I have enjoyed it in the past and left good reviews. The last two times were not good. The Sunday lunch was served with a choice of Chicken, Beef, or Lamb. The Chicken was fine and my husband enjoyed the Lamb. My son and I don't eat lamb so ordered the Beef. It was so tough. I couldn't cut it with my knife and asked for a steak knife but really struggled. I cut up my sons beef to remove the choking hazards leaving very little. Despite that, we hardly ate any it was like the sole of an old boot. The roasties were a warmed up and dense and the Yorkshire puds were burnt black around the edges. The server was plesant but kept taking food away before my son had finished. It wasn't busy there at all. We were the biggest table and most were empty. The desserts were nice. I was prepared to pay for everything, even the extra £3 for terrible roasties, but felt that she shouldn't charge for the Beef dinners. When my husband went to pay she said she offered lamb so she won't refund. Frankly this was bad customer care. She could see us struggle with cutting and we left 90% of the food on the plate. We tried to get her attention early but she was in the back. Eventually a meal replacement was too late. She knew that because my husband had finished his meal already by this time. I ordered beef but got leather. She eventually gave my husband £6 off the bill. It was £24 for the dinners we couldn't eat. Better places in the area -The Corn Mill - Gales/Sams - The Three Eagles

The food was excellent it was by far the best meal we had experienced during our holiday at the nearby Penvale Lakes. The menu was varied and quite reasonably priced. We were a party of six and had a starter, main course a sweet and drinks for a very good price of £145.00. I had the meat box as a main not realising it was a sharing platter and boy was I stuffed, but it was delicious.

My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat, but unfortunately didn’t have a good experience. This is mainly down to the amount of coughing by the staff and loose attitude to wearing masks. One member of staff wasn’t wearing a mask but coughing continuously in and and out of the kitchen. The service was ok, but due to the above we can only grade a one star as we didn’t feel comfortable inside of here. We chose to pay but didn’t eat the food just in case. Sorry to leave this review but given this time we are living in, we couldn’t let it go unnoticed.

As we still had some time before the six of us met up, we visited Valle Crucis Abbey which is adjacent and is free at that time of year. We arrived in Llangollen on Saturday afternoon, we stayed at a cottage nearby, so strolled down to Abbey Farm for a drink and bite to eat. It was a lovely welcoming place and the coffee, drinks and food were delicious ... a big shout out for the sticky flapjacks served with the hot drinks!! Loved them. After a 6.5km walk on Sunday we finished it here and had a lovely late lunch ... my friend said it was the best steak she'd ever had, my one friend said her tomato and red pepper soup was a taste sensation, my two friends had a curry and judging by their empty bowls, they had no complaints ... and my lasagne, well compared to my own, it was right up there. The staff were lovely, really helpful and welcoming. Great pitstop, thank you.

Just had late lunch there and it's just as fabulous as it was last year when we visited. I had the steak again and it was one of the best I've ever tasted, so tender and so so tasty. I then had the apple and blackberry crumble with custard which was also amazing. My friend had the ham eggs and chips and another had lasagne which were both beautiful. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Up till 5pm there is a large choice of meals for 2 for £13.There is a different menu for after 5pm You really must try it here.

So disappointed after being here previously, dinner was luke warm, didn't expect fine dining, but there was no care or pride in laying the table, we had two roast beef dinners, one lamb and one chicken, the lamb was cooked nice, beef overcooked and the chicken was a frozen overcooked breast with a slice of stuffing roll. Off putting to see the chef plating it up with bare hands, then chucking in overcooked cauliflower and savoy cabbage in a tiny bowl to share between 4 adults. Veg on plate was undercooked new potatoes, roasted carrots and hard chunky parsnip, gravy was bisto special including lumps, sweets were microwaved specials, don't bother wasting your money! Overpriced sub standard food!

My wife and I, together with son and his family (total7 adults plus a dog) ate in the conservatory section of this restaurant on Wednesday 31st July 2019. When we were given the menu were told that some dishes we unavailable due to staff shortages. One of our party wanted a vegetarian meal but this was not available so the waitress offered to ask chef if a vegetarian dish could be prepared after all. A quick and positive answer was received, drinks were served, and after a reasonably short time, seven piping hot and beautifully presented meals were served up. The food was delicious - all agreed, and the same was said of the deserts. all members of staff were very customer centred and friendly, the atmosphere was excellent and we would not hesitate to eat here again, should we be in the Llangollen area in the future.

Well what can I say! Was by far the best meal we had out on our weeks holiday. The restaurant was warmed by a lovely log fire, the staff were friendly and very accommodating and the food was just the best and more than reasonable too. We had 4 different meals. They were steak which was cooked to perfection and large for the cost of £8.95. The steak and ale pie was homemade and to die for. The toad in the hole was amazing and the Ciabatta was fabulous too. I thanked the Chef Mark personally and he tells me everything is home cooked. The desserts were fantastic too. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough you must visit I can guarantee you will not be disapointed. We had gone in Langollen a couple of times earlier in the week to eat but how we now wished we had eaten here instead of the mega expensive restaurant in town the previous night. Please take note that this review is based on a comparison of the Bistro from a previous visit. The Bistro was at its best when it felt like a rustic Welsh place to eat. During our visit last weekend I noticed many changes that took away some of it's previous charm. Some of the furniture like the piano and other things have gone to make way for more seating and the people who used to run the Bistro have sadly gone and being replaced. The mixed grill which was for us the major draw to the Bistro has changed, gone are the onion rings, the wooden boards and the great chips. Also the quality of the Sirloin Steak wasn't great either. Sadly the price has increased and it is now knocking on the door of £20 which is a little pricey (in the past you felt too full now a little less so).It was a distinctly average experience for us knowing how great the Bistro used to be.I wouldn't let this put you off if you are going for a first time though, hopefully you will fall in love with the place as much as we did and love it for what it is now.

Beautiful location, plenty of space, camp site wrapped around an old abbey and surrounded by beautiful hills. Ideally located for Llangollen/River Dee. However terrible facilities. Toilet block could do with a spring clean. Washing up facilities filthy but with no bin it's hardly surprising how people left it. Fortunately the rubbish disposal was in the next field as it was a huge open skip spilling over with rubbish - a lot of it on the floor. Rat heaven!! Pity the poor people camping opposite it despite the fact they had amazing views!! Security barrier seemed out of use which isn't good for safety. Didn't attempt to eat/drink there. We were camping onsite over the august bank holiday and visited the bistro twice..1st visit - BreakfastThey have changed how they used to serve the breakfasts, it was carvery style when we visited on the saturday morning, the food was cold under the lamps and although portion size was huge the cold food really let it down. The toast machine was really really slow and they no longer have water on the table. For over £16 for 2 for breakfast I really think they could do better as we saw in march when we had absoltuely no complaints.2nd visit - DrinksWe came in on Saturday night to have a few wrexham lagers and although it was busy we were kept waiting over 20 minutes standing at the bar to be served. Every time our turn came the staff would serve someone else who had not been waiting as long as us. Some loud mouth of a woman walked right in and got served because she seemed to know the staff. We decided to spend our money elsewhere but it was only when I said this to my fiance out loud that the staff took any notice and offered to serve us. We told them to forget it and went into town spent over £100 (which could easily have been spent in the bistro) and had a fab night in places that value their customers. All the staff were different to those who were working easter weekend - I hope they were just on holiday and haven't left as the sooner they get back the better, the new staff just seemed clueless.

Tasteless floury potato fishcakes. Ciabattas were ok. The beer was good, as usual in this quasi pub setting. It's a pity sites like this list these sorts of places as "licensed restaurants" and you plan your day around that idea only to arrive to find a tea room or a little cafe.

we did not participate in a meal because the whole of the tea room and bistro didn't appear too clean and inviting, outside appeared dirty with litter all around and dirty pots littered the tables.

The farm and tea rooms are located about a mile outside Llangollen on the Horseshoe pass road. It's a really big complex consisting of cottages, caravan park, camping pods, farm shop and tea rooms. At the end of the farm is Valle Crusis Abbey . There's plenty of room to sit, inside and out. We opted for the conservatory, which is dog friendly. We had a lovely meal of Gammon with a spicy pineapple salsa and the Moroccan meatballs. The tea rooms are also licenced. There are also homemade desserts. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely go back.

We visited here while camping for dinner. The staff were very friendly and tentative. The food was lovely and freshly cooked. Good value no nonsense food that is convenient when your staying on site.

After a visit to Valle Crucis Abbey, we popped into the Tea Rooms with what seemed like an extensive and interesting menu. We asked at the bar for a gluten-free menu to a pair of head-scratching waiters who would have to check with the chef. We had a tea and a Wrexham Lager (very nice) while we waited however after 20 minutes no one had still got back to us despite us checking in on if they had found anything, to no avail. Shame as the decor of the tea room was inviting and looked very nice - would be nicer if you had a gluten free menu ready for some of your visitors. The Abbey Tea Rooms are connected to the farm building at the top of the drive adjacent to the camp site and are not connected to the Cadw site. There are also no refreshments available on the Cadw site so here is your only option for a cuppa and a cake.Quite disappointed with the lack of service for gluten free customers.

We've visited this tea room and bistro on a number of occasions and the service has always been friendly and helpful. The home made cakes are often imaginative and always delicious. As a vegetarian I appreciate, too, the selection of meals on offer, while the remainder of my family, who are all meat eaters, also have plenty of choice. Nicely presented meals.

Unfortunately when we visited the menu was rather limited with only breakfast baps being offered. It was a bit of a let down in that sense. The sausage bacon and egg bap was nice though and the customer service was good

Visited once on a Wedenesday evening whilst staying nearby. A small but pleasant restaurant. Seating is a little cramped but comfortable. A nice menu with traditional food. Service was slick and the food was well cooked and hot. This place gave us the best meal we had on our recent short trip to the area. ::Neil::

We called here in the hope of getting a late breakfast (11.45) which was no problem as everything is cooked fresh. The portions of freshly cooked local food are huge and cooked perfectly. The sausage is beautiful. Couldn't have asked for anything more really!

We visited the bistro for dinner on a Saturday evening, we weren't expecting to get a table as we hadn't book but we were swiftly seated which was fab! The menu looked lovely, a great variety from burgers to chicken supreme, mixed grill, ham hock pie and much more. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the food arrives quickly. I had pate which was delicious and my partner had a lovely looking baked Camembert services with lots of bread! For mains I had the chicken supreme served with dauphinois potatoes and tender stem broccoli... Very nice although it should also have come with spinach which was missing. My partner choose the burger served in a homemade roll with chips, onion rings and coleslaw... All fab and lots of food!! Prices were reasonable, average pub type prices really.Great and we'd happily visit again if in the area :)

As the day was wet it was rather crowded but we were well looked after; food was good, there's a great selection of drinks, and a farm shop next door. Toilet facilities (in a separate building) seemed a little inadequate for this volume of trade but presumably on a nicer day with a more normal number of diners this wouldn't be a problem.

Went here for lunch with friends and 4 of us had the paninis, all different fillings and they were served with coleslaw and fries. We then had cakes which was very piggy but they looked too good to resist. Everything seemed to be homemade and the choice of menu was amazing. Light bites, jacket potatoes as well as full meals. The server was lovely, we had to wait a bit but well worth it. Brilliant value and great fresh food. Will definitely go again. Muddy boots are welcomed!!

What can I say except WOW!!!! We had our wedding reception here on 21 st November 2015 and it was amazing. A bitterly cold day, but the wood burner and heating greeted us. The food was nothing short of amazing. All our guests are still talking about it. Steve the chef and his wife Fi, are such professionals and the restaurant looked amazing. Anyone who wants a cosy, happy venue with brilliant food, this is the place. So thank you a thousand times over . Keep up the good work and see you soon. Anne and Tony X

We were in the Llangollen area, and having camped at Abbey Farm previously, took the opportunity to dine in the Bistro. It was a late Sunday afternoon, when my wife, 9 year old son and myself arrived. We were greeted warmly and asked if we wanted ti sit in the conservatory area of inside. As the fire was keeping the conservatory nice and warm on a cold October afternoon we chose a table there. A quick scan of the handwritten menus identified a number of dishes that seemed excellent. We chose the chicken tikka panini (£5.95), the leek and potato soup (£5) and the mushroom stroganoff (£9.50).Simply, all three were excellent and a good sized portion and well presented. My only gripe, was that the crusty bread with the soup was a little on the small side. However, the freshly cooked croutons with the soup were superb.Would we return - Yes, most definitely. I would even contemplate the breakfast next time we camp here.

First time visiting and we had a fantastic afternoon tea - absolutely delicious! The service was absolutely excellent and the staff were brilliant with catering for children. Nothing was too much trouble! We were so impressed with our experience and will be back. I didn’t get her name unfortunately, but the blonde waitress who served us the most was absolutely lovely and we can’t thank her enough for making us feel so welcome and looking after us. Thank you!!

This is now called Boba Geeks Cafe. We went in expecting the usually greasy cafe food with frozen chips . We were pleasantly surprised. Home made chips with sausage, egg and beans all cooked to perfection. The chef uses all fresh ingredients in all his food and does a traditional roast on a Sunday. We paid £21 for 3 meals and 3 drinks which I thought was a real bargain.
