Aagrah - Chapel Allerton in Leeds

The food is amazing the staff are brilliant, the best, if you are new to Indian food and what you ordered might be too hot don’t leave disappointed tell the staff they will bend over to make you happy, I love the Aagrah restaurant but not all the Aagrah’s are equal I’ve had the pleasure of trying them all and in my humble opinion of over 30 years of eating Indian food at number one spot for food and the staff has got to be Aagrah chapel alerton branch at number 2 id have to give it too the branch that is in Leeds city centre 3rd is a bit hard because I’ve not been to the tadcaster branch for over 8 months but the last time I was there it was good , a lot of people say the pudsey branch should be up there but no it’s very much a ship them in and ship them out experience so if you want the best food and the best experience from staff it’s got to be chapel alerton they win by a mile, I’ve had to drop from a 5 star to a 4 guys you already charge enough for the buffet why and again why take the popadoms of and charge extra no you can’t do that

We had a meal here with family whilst visiting them. Gluten-free is catered for but not very well in the buffet, better to order separately. Everyone else enjoyed their buffet meals. It was very quiet.

Called in here on an off chance and was not disappointed. The food is lovely, even the rice was extra tasty, took me by surprise. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Prices aren't bad either.

Not what it used to be was quiet for saturday night food not good used to go most weekends but wont be returning and not cheap over £50

Arrived at around 7pm , Saturday evening, the restaurant was half full and alarm bells triggered been a few years back and was good now very poor , there’s no atmosphere , lamb chops nothing like they used to be , wife ordered a chicken korma which was tikka meat with a sauce nothing like how it should be I had a lamb rogan , tough pieces of meat in a bland curry , the whole place needs a update , the menus are like what you get in a burger joint , pickle tray even looks anemic at what used to be a great place

Shammi kabab which comes with a Aagrah special sauce was awesome.

Terrible food, totally bland. We always go to Rasoi stories but it was closed on this particular day, Aagrah was the only Indian restaurant in chapel allerton we had not visited, so thought to give it a try. What a total waste of money! The food was terrible and completely tasteless, honestly I am shocked that they are serving that! Go to any other Indian in chapel allerton but not this one!

Food was no doubt good. Being Indian, they provided few popadams and a indian type chutney (hot and sour) at the beginning free of cost. But after that, all of us became sick and loose motion started. As we were a group of veg and non veg people, so the chutney was common. There was surely a problem with the chutney.

Seriously don't know how to make or serve a traditional curry, extreme hotness no taste or flavour, complete cowboys, really should be ashamed

Brilliant - mainly use this for takeaway food, which is always delicious. Staff also friendly. Last takeaway was marginally below standard, but not worth complaining about.

Staffs are friendly and polite. One star just for staffs .Salon was cold , lamb chops half was nearly burnt and half was uncooked I couldn’t finish it and killed my appetite told the staff he said I will let manager know that’s it they didn’t do anything after that

We didn't eat in, we ordered a takeaway using the online scheduling system to pick up in 90 minutes. When I got there, they hadn't checked their system and so the food wasn't ready. To be fair, they were very apologetic and pulled out all the stops and somehow came up with our order in 10 mins while I supped a complimentary drink. Everyone makes a mistake and I always say what really counts is how that mistake is rectified. The quality of the food more than made up for the unfortunate error.

First time here Service was good Conservatory was nice, chairs uncomfortable, menu's all four of ours had food stuck inside, menu's were sticky and smelly. Poppadoms were stale and dips had fermented taste. Family naan was nice but rice was not fresh. The curry dishes were plentiful, large portions but quality of ingredients was poor. Customers expect fresh food as the bill is often the cost of a weekly food shop for four meals. Expected Better, won't go again.

Aagrah was a fantastic dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, offering recommendations and answering any questions we had about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. What can I say about the Aagrah. How about superb. The staff are attentive and sociable, the food is great and full of flavour. There really is no downside.

Starters and service was nice but main course was totally tasteless. So disappointing. We’d give them benefit of the doubt last 2 visits but I won’t be going ever again.

3 of us decided to get a takeaway from Aagrah Chapel Allerton. I called in advance to pre-order and to check that they could provide gluten free for one of us. The ordering side of things was simple and quick. We selected 6.15pm to collect the order. On arrival, we were 10 minutes early so decided to order drinks from the bar whilst we waited for the food. It was busy and bustling and a nice atmosphere. We waited until 6.30pm for the order to be ready and set off with our two bags packed full of what we hoped would be a feast and for £91.50, why wouldn’t we. On arriving at our friends house, we eagerly unpacked and began to decipher what was what. The first thing I commented on was how salty the little mint yogurt sauce was that accompanied the poppadoms. Imagine how very disappointed we were to find the entire meal was extremely salty and hardly any differentiation between dishes. Mine was a Tikka Masala, my husband’s was a Vindaloo, our friend had a Biryani. We added Bombay Aloo, mushroom bhajis, rice and onion bhajis to the order (which was probably why it was an expensive takeaway) but we didn’t mind as we never normally indulge in them. After literally one mouthful of my food, I asked if theirs was salty?? I tried a small amount of each dish and salt was the overwhelming taste and each dish tasted exactly the same, even the rice was salty. What on earth has gone wrong in the kitchen there. In 40 years of enjoying curries, it was the worst experience I’ve ever encountered. Hence, we threw the entire meal away. There was nothing we wanted to keep. Never ever again will we return.

4 people… food wasnt as orderd and 2 dishes had to be sent back cold. Issue with bill as £25 over charge had to be sorted. All been before over 4 years ago and was good back then…Aargrah chain.might have got too big and lost the love for it

Saturday night birthday celebrations. Only one waiter and service was slow. Ordered our food it was OK but nothing special. In fact rather disappointing. Two meals sent back as clap cold. Our bill requested which seemed rather high. Guess what £25.50 over charged!!! Will not be returning.

We ordered a takeaway from Aagrah tonight and it was banging!! Waaaay better than we’ve had from there in the past. The food was fresh, tasty and clean. It was good, like really good. Went last year and pretty much wrote it off as average but they redeemed themselves with this last meal. I had Chicken Lahsen and it was lovely, just enough heat and tons of flavour, it was rich, aromatic and very tasty! My wife had Saag Paneer and, this is rare, she wished she’d ordered more so she could have it the following day! Don’t know if it’s new recipes or new chefs but it’s definitely worth trying, it’s excellent and it’s on my doorstep!

Went for the Sunday buffet; loads of options which were all very tasty and constantly topped up. Khan served us and was lovely, would recommend it’s a great chance to try new dishes too!

Had come down with friends for a meal yesterday night and was amazed by the service especially by Sully who was brilliant and extremely polite and well mannered. Looked after our table brilliantly.

Restaurant was cold & disappointed with the food no real spice or flavour despite ordering a jalfrezi. Tables too close together for my liking £80 for 3 people including 2 beers was given 3 bills attached together which confused me... Just give one final bill

What a fantastic night we had on New year's eve. The food is always lovely , the service is always very good and the new year party made it extra special. Overall a brilliant place , fantastic food and lovely staff , even on a normal night .

Very poor take out experience. The food was completely different from what we ordered and the food we actually received was bland and poor quality. When we called them to notify them of the issues the person proceeded to argue with us and was unapologetic about our concerns.

Went for the first time tried different curries and mock tails everything was 10/10 hamad served great guy.

Absolutely freezing, asked waiter to turn up heater twice!!Food wasn't amazing. Service was a negative too. Pedro was the only one that smiled.

Disappointing takeaway experience. Food was bland and was cold by the time it arrived, and the saag paneer tasted burnt. The peshwari naan had hair in it (pictures). The order arrived 20 minutes late. I would choose somewhere else next time - I spent £36 on this.

Value for money is essential at the moment. This place has failed in this regard. The Meat Dish priced at £16.50 contained liIttle meat but a lot of masala. Tasted ok, but was it worth £16.50? No way. This is not Gourmet food, and prices should reflect that. On a positive note, service was very good and lots of parking.

The food was very good, it was just the rise that it could be better as it was like from Tesco and microwaved. Decent portion, but a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Service was very poor, the wife had a chicken jalfrezi basically chicken floating in oil, ordered pilau rice which was just bland & had never seen a strand of saffron ever, the chicken balti was just about passable but again just a basic curry sauce with chicken. One of the best in Leeds I must say... Food, ambience and last but not the least.. The Staff... Are nothing but excellent. These three are the prime factors when talking about any restaurant... Aagrah Chapel Allerton meets the expectations bit to byte in each of these. Be it a family dinner, or a romantic date with your partner or a hangout with buddies... One with a true sense of food would never get disappointed. I highly recommend. Much love❤

Came here 14 April 2023. £18.95 a person for seven course buffet. Superb service. Great choice. Clean and fast service. Good family restaurant. But I have come for a romantic meal and I wasn't let down. This has become my new no1.. Hope you agree

Bought a takeaway of chicken madras and in all honesty I've bought better from Lidl down the road. Worst curry I've ever had, bland sauce and hard lumps of chicken that seemsd to have been thrown in at the last minute.

My review is not about the food, the food is nothing short of outstanding and eating in is a very pleasant experience but this is a company who trust their delivery service in Deliveroo who fail to deliver and fail to meet the standards that this restaurant stands for and any follow up needs to be with Deliveroo as they are responsible after it leaves the restaurant. A restaurant that has such high quality food should be brave enough to not follow the trend and actually hire its own delivery drivers as the inadequate service of Deliveroo is failing them. To be clear, our delivery never arrived, we were not contacted and we have had to do all of the chasing. New curry house sourced and delivery on its way.

Great buffet meal plenty to choose from and it’s unlimited cost around £20 per person

A rare trip out with Nanny looking after the nipper. Love a curry and this didnt let me down. Have eaten here many times before, but there were new things on the menu which we chose. Throw in a few bottles of wine and it was a nice post pub meal. We did book for a late setting and were the last to leave, but the staff were great and didnt apply any pressure - they also didnt offer any desserts....! Didnt need them as was stuffed anyways. Went yesterday with a friend for a catch up. Was surprised they'd updated the decor somewhat, which was a nice welcome. As previous visits it looked a bit drab and outdated. Another surprise was the drinks selection (non-alcholic), was more varied and a welcomed change for me, especially with me not drinking alcohol. All I can say is WOW. The drink my friend and I had, was AMAZING. Looked pleasing to the eye and so scrumptious to drink. We decided to go with the buffet for a change, and wasn't disappointed. I didn't try every dish, but what I did try was delicious. I particularly loved the meatball/khofta starter, which was nicely spiced and saucy. Desser selection was OK and nicely laid out, but felt could've been a better selection. Only gripe is, for the starters, there was alot of chicken, but no kebabs. I feel having meat kebabs as a selection in the starter would give a variation to just having chicken, hence 4 rating. Over all positive visit and Kamaran was very hands on, polite and attentive throughout as well as the rest of the staff.

We live locally but hadn't been before and visited a couple of months back. The decor isn't anything overly special, but the food took us by surprise - we loved the food and great value too. We'vehad takeaways since and have enjoyed them too!

I would not recommend the A le carte menu. It seem the "as much as you can eat" is the priority for service. I ordered a well done/burnt nan, and I was very specific at the point of order. However, it arrive drip white, with not a waiter in sight. So I took back to the kitchen explained what I wanted. It came back light brown and had been grilled and not cooked in the oven. At this stage I cancelled the nan and ordered chapati. By the time they arrived my meal was cold and again no waiter, in sight. No apology. I only wish I could give the place a zero star.

In my opinion the best curry house in Leeds. There's something about the flavours these guys use which are distinctive. Great curries and a great atmosphere when you eat in.

The worst Aagrah i have every visited. They get 2 stars as the front of house were really nice, friendly and accommodating and what a lovely waiting area too! However when you sit down this changes, i asked a waiter 3 times for my yoghurt...

2 x Lamb tikka karahi - poor. Big chunks of pretty tough mutton, not lamb. No issues with mutton as long as it is cooked to be tender. It was also extremely salty so we couldn't finish it. Had to drink 3.5 pints of water afterwards. 1x Lamb tikka masala - not a usual choice but not bad. Tasted quite fragrant. Disappointed with the pilau rice. Delivery was well within the 45 minutes. Not the same level of quality we used to experience with Aagrah and it's a lot more expensive.

Absolutely dreadful take away. I have had food before and it was lovely so thought I'd treat myself. Chicken was so tough I could barely get a knife through it I asked for mild and it was very hot. Sauce was horrie. The only nice thing we're the cahpatix. Will never be ordering again

It was a brilliant experience visiting Aagrah resturant. Food is very tasty and fresh plus their tandoori roti is tge best From hospitality to food I would give 5☆ to Agrah.

I have eaten here once and it was very average, however I gave the benefit of the doubt to them and ordered takeaway. Needless to say I won't be patronising them again! Not only did I have to wait for an age for the food. I ordered naan bread that was not fully cooked and raw in the middle. When I complained I was informed that I should have asked for it to be well done... This is naan bread, not a steak? Eaten naan bread in many places in my life including India and have never had to ask for it to be well done.. not only were they unable to take responsibility for a blatant mistake, they tried to make out that I didn't know what I was saying, they then tried bs their way out of it. Very poor customer service and mediocre food. Wouldn't eat there again if it was free!

Great food. However ever since they started Deliveroo food takes an absolute age. Been a few times on quiet nights (Tuesday, Wednesday) and wait over 90+ minutes for food.

I hardly ever leave reviews unless they are good. And I did email your customer services about the poor food standards we experienced, but had no response at all after a month. So I guess I can only express my disappointment publicy if you guys aren't really that bothered about feedback. We had a takeaway in July that was really poor quality. Two chicken curries and both contained chicken that were dry with bland sauces. They basically seemed like they were pre-cooked, taken out of a fridge and heated up. And I would risk a guess that thats exactly what they were. These 'were not' freshly prepared! Have you adopted a policy of fresh for customers dining in and reheated for takeaways?? I cant tell you how disappointed we were. We ALL noticed the poor quality. I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years with Aagrah in general and yours used to be the high standard to which I measured 'any other curry'. I would like to hope this is a one-off, but to be honest your lack of response makes me think not. Looks like I'll have to find another Indian restaurant as my 'goto' high standard.

My first time ordering here, and will be my last...Chips were raw and soaked in oil! And the two curries I ordered were no better than a packaged curry from a supermarket!
