Sunday dinner. Couldn't fault the starters and all the trimmings on the mains...but the pork was a tad tough. That said, we will definitely return. Had the beef second time, and it was really good.

Been before everything fine...just had it all ruined in the space of 20 seconds by the obnoxious manager who thinks he can talk down to people and expect them to enjoy the visit. Not goin back due to this rudeness

Have been twice now for lunch in the last month as it has been so good! The food is delicious, this month they have added little plates as a menu option, I had bao buns, chicken satay and tempura broccoli. They were all really tasty and well presented. The tempura was a little stodgy on the thicker parts but it was all delicious. My husband had the chicken and chorizo pie which was amazing! The cocktails were so good too, all a bit different than the usual choices. They change the menu every 3 months so it’s great having a some more options. The kids loved the decor as there was so much to see, and there is also a little kids area with a few toys etc. Personally we feel that the overall experience is better than the typical Paragon group offerings, and at a similar price point. So if you normally go to the orange tree etc, try this for a change!

Came here today for a family lunch. We were early. Plenty of parking. Friendly, attentive staff. Good food. Loved the powder room

Me and my partner visited here for the first time today and it was nothing short of incredible. The food was cooked to perfection & our server lauren was attentive and so lovely. A true credit to the resturant. We will absolutely be back for more of their delicious pudding!

We went for my daughter's belated birthday meal. There were 11 of us. Had a brill time. The place looks amazing! Great atmosphere, the staff were friendly & attentive. The food was great as were the cocktails. Cant recommend this place enough if you want lovely food in a cosy, fantastical place. On a footnote I would like to thank all the staff who were great in exceptional circumstances at the end of the evening. Hope everything works out ok for you & will definately return soon.

Visited the Secret Garden last night for a family Easter dinner. The food was amazing, the cocktails delicious and the service was superb. DJ Trevor was playing, which made it a night of great music. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for fine dining and entertainment. Thank you.

First time visit. Decor unbelievable, loved it. False start with battered fish, batter not cooked but meal replaced no problem. Would go again and give it one more try xx

A surprise gem found out of the blue. The environment is warm but (good)weird; encapsulating and expressive. Service absolute top notch, can’t name anywhere in the world I’ve had better. All of the plates were exceptionally presented and the quality lived up to the presentation. Small menu with focus on quality which thoroughly showed throughout. Don’t worry about parking; it’s round the back 👍

A great little gem in newcastle. It offers something different than the usual dining experiences in the area and has top quality food at reasonable prices. Every dish we had was exceptional and the drinks matched. Service was amazing and the staff were very polite, having a great chat to us and getting to know us. Considering how busy it was, we were very well accomodated and nothing felt rushed. Our waiter Dan was very professional adding to the whole experience. It felt like something you would expect from an upmarket venue in london. Great food, great prices, would highly recommend.

This was our second visit but this time it was December so we ordered off the festive menu which was such a good offer at 2 courses for £30! Incredible food & generous portions. The restaurant is fairly small so book in advance, this does mean the service is great and feels like they take care over every single plate of food! Cocktails are also delicious, I recommend the garden of roses 🌹We are happy to drive the 50 min drive for this restaurant!!

Having sampled the festive menu on 15th Dec we were really impressed.The quality and presentation of each dish was superb, and the range of flavours excellent .Service was polite and efficient and we weren't rushed to vacate our tables as is the case in some establishments.Can thoroughly recommend the atmosphere and festive menu.Thank you for a super evening!

Went for lunch on a Saturday with my sisters. The food, service and decor were all 5* We will absolutely be returning. I had the best cheesecake I have ever tasted!

Had the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time .beef was pink (but could have had well done) just as I like it , veg piping hot and own jug of gravy .really lovely . Staff were very welcoming and professional also no rush to finish up and go so all in all a great experience . The secret garden is well hidden from the road so have to go down side drive to car park and walk round from back .decor inside is AMAZING so quirky and individual .great place for a private party..

This is an experience rather than a meal out, and a very pleasant one at that. Took my daughter for a belated birthday meal and it was fantastic. Service was outstanding and I have never been to such a quirky / nice place before. I slightly marked down the food , but if I could I would mark it 4.95 stars as the main course was not 100% for me (the other 3 with me would say 5 stars). Will be going back to this place, and recommend it wholeheartedly.

No faults to be had. Went for Sunday lunch with a friend. Great atmosphere, attentive staff. Food was spot on We both had the pan fried rainbow trout as the main, then 1 chocolate orange torte and 1 multi layered cheesecake. 10/10.

This will probably be the most thorough review I've written so far but 85 Secret Garden deserves it. Initially made aware on Instagram of this restaurants launch a few years back I've always been intrigued and wanted to visit. It is a hidden gem in an unusual location and likely survives on its online presence and word of mouth so it deserves a big shout out. We were welcomed as soon as we walked through the door and led straight to the table. Every member of staff we encountered throughout our visit smiled at us, that leaves an impression. Intrigued by shots of the decor (Deco maximilist) online I had wondered if it was all going to be too much but no, the lighting was low and subtle and along with the ambient music it all worked to create an amazing atmosphere. No expense has been spared creating this interior and the attention to detail is incredible. Our waitress Holly was fabulous from start to finish, explaining how the small plates worked portion wise and what to expect. She thoroughly explained the dishes I asked about when I came to choose. The food was stunning I had the Tuna and Brocolli dishes and my partner the Lamb Koftas, Chilli Beef and loaded fries (amazing - I tried them all!). One comment I have seen is that it would be good to be able to upgrade to a larger plate and I agree. The menu is small and perfectly formed, I wonder if larger plates or more options may be needed to keep people coming back? Several check backs made throughout the meal by different staff members. The Bill at the end was delivered in a quirky little box, I love these touches. If I could give 6 stars I would. Thank you for our experience, I think you have it nailed and appreciate your obvious investment in what you have created here! Another fabulous meal here in March 23 (photos added) served the lovely Ella. Large plates now available which are great. The Staff are so happy and attentive in their work which creates a great ambience. Blown away yet again by the attention to detail in food, service and surroundings.

Like you're in another world. Usually I'm not one for this type of decor but they've struck the balance really nicely here and it's so tastefully done. Add that to the excellent service, incredibly food and remade atmosphere and what more could you ask for.

Visited The secret garden on a works evening out with Tile Mountain, very impressed with the attentive staff and service, also the food was to die for and very well presented. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone who hasn't been before , you wont be disappointed.

This is a great place, we booked in for a Saturday night at 7pm. The staff are great the food is great and the atmosphere is really good. The styling of the place is really good, with the secret garden/Alice in wonderland type decor. It's not an extensive menu, but the food is lovely. The drinks menu is a little more varied and a reasonable selection of cocktails. Parking is available, and access is easy enough for all I would think. Music is played at the right volume to allow for conversation, without any concern of others listening in. I would definitely recommend that you try this place if you haven't already. The food we had was chicken wings and mushroom patè. Chicken with spinach and ricotta, smoked lamb rump. Rhubarb and cherry crumble and key lime mousse. (Sorry about the photos of the chicken wings. They were delicious) My wife had mojito, and I was drinking pints of knock oil. Nice little touch of bringing your bill in a little box, a couple of chocolate mounts inside

My 1st time visit has been a very pleasant experience. The staff were lovely and polite. The decor is absolutely fab - from blue carousel horse 🎠 on the ceiling to a pink ladies powder room. The Menu has plenty of gluten-free options (apart from the desserts, sadly). I had the sea bass and glazed chicken wings. I don't drink alcohol but my dining companion enjoyed the nice selection of cocktails 🍸🍹

Nice quirky place but after a first visit, most locals nearby don’t go there as it seems to attract a young image conscious crowd, drinks are expensive and the food is a bit overpriced for small plates. It’s a shame as people were initially excited to hear about something different opening locally but most haven’t revisited. Three stars for the quirkiness of the place. The booking and time limits are a bit of a pain. Maybe I should revisit just to see if anything has changed. Nobody I know goes there. It’s not really a blokey place.

Wonderful meal, probably the best Sunday roast I’ve had for years - the chicken wings starter was another level, gorgeous, great service and atmosphere, I’ll definitely be returning.

Hands down the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had! I had the cod for Sunday lunch! It was amazing m! My hubby had the beef and it was cooked to perfection! They have the cutest little play corner for the kiddos so we were able to enjoy a glass of wine and the staff are so accommodating to both us and the children. Desert was delicious too!

This place is a little gem, very different decor (in a great way) but at a very good standard , big shout out to the staff who really make this place and credit to Mr Trowers. Will be back

It was my birthday and I went here without looking at the menu. I got there and realised it was a selection of starters and Sunday dinners only.. First of all I can honestly say, it was the best Sunday dinner I've ever had in my life and I was not one bit disappointed at all.. I chose the chicken dinner and my partner chose the beef. Presented in a perfect manner and very appealing way.. I will be looking forward to going in the week now, to sample the other menus for sure 👍 Highly recommended, Staff were amazing and very professional 👏 All round great experience and looking forward to future visits.

What a shame , booked a table for 14 and waiting for the new menu , when I clearly specified if there’s a choice of vegan dishes and they proudly said yes .. finally I received the new menu and ready to confirm the table and put the deposit… on the menu there’s no one vegan choice at all!!!!!!!! Very unprofessional service . How a restaurant like this and nowadays doesn’t offer vegan choices… shame!!!

Really poor service on Saturday evening. Declined a cocktail tree that was advertised on instagram, served to the table RIGHT next to us and given the menu for to then be told by the manager he wouldnt do one but we were welcome to order othet cocktails at full price. The cocktail tree we were trying to buy wad £105. The manager didnt like the fact i told him it was really bad and poor service and welcomed me to leave a review... so here we are. We took our £200 spend (we were there for food and drinks as a party of 3) to Milehouse and had a great evening with excellent staff. Dont advertise and supply to the neighbouring table if you arent prepared to serve it and handle the situation better. Left without spending a penny but had to pay for an additional taxi because of the dire service and defo wont be returning.

Very different quirky place, beautiful decor. The food was amazing I'm veggie and had the aubergine curry it was incredible. The drink menu is extensive and had lots of cocktails to choose from. The service was fantastic everyone was helpful and friendly. Great to have a DJ in the room that's what made it different so you could get up and have a dance if you wanted.... And we did! I'd say slightly pricey but worth it for everything you get. Definitely recommend a visit

Popped in on a quiet night, staff were attentive without being overwhelming. Drinks were great, especially the surprisingly good 0.5% grapefruit beer. A must if you're driving and other confined to fizzy sugar water We shared a couple of small plates with the sticky beef being the winner. Looking forward to going again - and this time we will walk to enjoy the full delights of the cocktail menu

Worth a visit for it's amazing decor. Expensive but lovely food. Not much choice for vegans and vegetarians on the lunchtime menu. Soup was fabulous. We will have to go back for the dessert because we were too full. Staff very friendly and helpful.

What an amazing place! My wife suggested we pop in for a drink and a look and I'm so glad we did! What a quirky and modern little restaurant and bar! I love the decor and I loved the gentle jazzy contemporary music. The place felt opulent and sophisticated, massively at odds with where it is situated but you can completely forget this and just be immersed in the amazing ambiance. Good selection of drinks with reasonably priced cocktails. We decided on a couple of small plates and had the chicken satay and lamb kofta, absolutely fantastic! Flavours and presentation were just beautiful, I can't rave about this little place enough and can't wait to go back on an evening when I am sure it gets lovely and busy. Well worth a look at any time of the day and heartily recommended.
