Went into the restaurant with my husband on 15/01/25 for late lunch. We had heard that there was a new chef in the kitchen from Chris the Leaseholder. The food and price were spot on. I had the cauliflower wings with sweet chilli sauce and they were so fresh and tasty. My husband had the jalapeño croquettes which he said had a little kick but they also made fresh to order. The chicken curry looked good but I thought a little short on chicken but when my husband stirred it there was plenty of chicken in there, served with boiled rice and prawn crackers. I had the freshly made smash burger with fries and gherkin on top. Everything tasted top notch and fresh. Would recommend this establishment for food anytime.

Great place to eat. The not just any steak pie is a must try. Food was served fast and hot.

If I could review this in minus i would. Went for Christmas dinner paid over the odds which is fine as it’s Christmas. I complained to the manager and so did a few of us which rightly so! Our full order was coming out wrong adults getting kids meals half a potato for an adult cut in two . Burnt yorkies no stuffing as advertised burnt pigs in blankets. A snow man ice cream consisted of five kids being given a bowl of whipped cream and a marshmallow . Two sundaes for kids one with some ice cream the other filled purely of whipped cream in a pint glass talk about making it a bit nicer for christmas. A lot of food left purely through the standard was to be burnt waited at the bar for nearly ten mins just to get a fork which had to be cleaned . Drinks took ages only soft drinks . The cheesecake tasted sour. When first booked was not made aware of any payment other than deposit to be paid which was paid received a message asking for rest made Emma aware she hadn’t gave me a date to pay however she was nothing but rude ! I had all messages clearly stated final balance December we paid deposit and honestly I see why they need money up front because not a single person would have paid that ! She demanded that if it wasn’t paid within that day or next she was cancelling it now given someone a days notice for 400 and people work can’t just jump however we paid it although as she was so rude to me I should cancelled then. Complained and the manager seen the food and said she understood and didn’t know what was happening! I requested the owner Emma contact me which off coarse she didn’t until I sent her a second message saying I was taken it further to what she sent a rude and utter lying text message to me ! Accuse my family of behaving inappropriately never the case yes we complained and rightly so! Stated we changed the order no your staff just didn’t have the order and since she banged on about all her cctv and how she was aware of our behaviour apparently at the time one she would see my self passing my phone up to the top of the table to pass on the order which came from the text to Emma with the order no changes she also lied and said allergy no onetold any member of staff there was allergies as they aren’t any and also while a table of 14 was that bad are the two owners Emma and her partner not going to come out and manage that !!! I think you would of that was true but it wasn’t no one done a thing wrong except you Emma! And allow that food to leave the kitchen and ask for £55 a head for that. The menus was not as stated ! And the food wasn’t edible ! We paid a lot of money £500+ weren’t offered any sort of apology and Infact the owner claimed the food was acceptable. Refused to speak to me at the venue when I asked for her . I asked to speak to a manager and the bar girl never even passed it on . Shambles of a dinner. It’s more laughable that Emma said we were the problem we wouldn’t have complained if the food was even consistent no two meals the same . Even the mashed claimed the went above and beyond and changed things absolutely not I asked for my neurodiverse child meal to have only turkey carrots and mash . She got micro mash so for the sake of two mins in a micro hardly above and beyond . Two kinds meals requested without stuff not an issue at all but yet no one had any stuffing when asked got a bowl of cold stuffing hand out. Asked for a kids dessert for my 15 year old but still paid an adult for him . Asked if by any chance all the dinner could have a Yorkshire and I would pay extra she said that was fine that didn’t happen either. But this is her going above and beyond .. and to make it that last bit they knew we had a baby yet we were squeezing in to a middle table leaving zero space for pram so he had to sit on a car seat in the floor yet we were the problem ! Never again step foot in there. Which is annoying as being before for nights out ect ! Abso joke but reached out to the owner and she feels it’s ok ! And when you look at the dessert it’s not melted icecream it’s just a shambles of whipped cream!

If I could give the place minus stars I would. We went in with a large party, they were understaffed knowing that 22 of us were coming in. Starters were coming out dribs and drabs, people were getting mains taken before rest of starters. They kept forgetting then a steak was missed and they waited nearly 2 hours before telling us there was no steak left. By this time most people had finished the mains. Would never be back. If your going with more than 3 people good luck

food was good,service extremely slow we sat for at least 20 mins before anyone came over,another gap before our order was taken,my sons order came which he finished before other 3 meals appeared.price wise a wee bit pricey,think mon-thurs 2 for 1 would be best time to visit

We came in with a big party for a family meal where food was pre ordered and it ended in disaster. Multiple missed drinks and food orders and missing items from meals. Waiting times of over an hour for some meals after everyone else has finished eating. Some meals did arrive after being asked but still lengthy wait times. After 2 and a half hours of waiting we were told they did not have any steak for the mixed grill. Ridiculous service and communication. The food that did eventually arrive was good. People arriving 45 minutes to an hour after us were receiving food before half of our party received anything.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food good value for money .

Walked in last tues.....after 2 boys that went straight to the toilets!!!! Stood and stood, the old woman behind bar must have thought we invisible....walked back out....first and last visit!

Popped in for a quick bite to eat and was not disappointed. The soup was delicious 😋

This has gone blown hill since being taken over,six of us whent in for early dinner there was only an other couple in the place at the time,yet it took ten minutes for someone to come over and ask for drinks order. We had a look at the food menu and no one came back for a further ten minutes even though the place was empty ,we left and whent elsewhere we will not be back service dreadful.

We had a family of 12 for our neice's 16th birthday lunch, service was brilliant and food was excellent, good value for money. Special thanks to vicky for arranging tables and waitress for being patient .

Visited Dr Gormans today for lunch with a group of friends and colleagues for a leaving get together. There were 13 of us. The staff were very attentive and accommodating to everyone's needs. The food was fantastic! The portion sizes are as big as a main course 😀 I was stuffed! I would recommend this lovely pub to anyone, it's also great value for money💰. Thanks David for your hospitality.

Absolutely loved it there. Food was lovely. The service was brilliant, the young man who served us was great. Definitely be going again the next time we're up this way.

First time in doctor gormans, we had a lovely meal and drinks ( nacho starter then steak pie & thai satay skewers for main ) food was excellent and a great range of drinks etc, staff were on the ball and friendly , amazing value for money also. Would highly recommend to anyone / couples / familys etc . We will be back very soon.

Terrible & Tastless, service non existant as we waited 35 minutes for starters then a further 40 minutes for main. Even though the staff were told at the start and several times after this, that we didn't have a lot of time. Food was very basic and tastless fish. It is also cold in here had to put my hubbys jacket over my legs. In addition Never got what I ordered either. Went and paid rather than wait another 35 minutes for the bill. What a shame, not as I remembered it. More staff needed.

Where to begin. Restraunt was dark. Food was burnt. Used to love this place now gone severely downhill will not be back

Used to be excellent food tonight was extremely bad chips excellent. Starter excellent main - new chef taken over freezing definitely won’t be back pity staff are lovely not enough of them . Sad to say definitely my last time , gone ther for years always great food sadly not this time . Lasagna all I could taste as tomato! Watery macaroni. Chips excellent. Salad had seen better days

Organise chaos. Paid for an event. Told it started at 6, started serving a 2 course dinner after 7. Over an hour between first and second course and food was cold.

The service is shocking!!! Waitress was quiet aggressive when asked a question about there new menu, the worst thing is the food not much better.

This USED to be a great eating place. I couldn't believe how it's went downhill. The chef was in and out constantly, having cigarettes at the door while we were still waiting for our starters. (He must have had about 4 cig breaks in the time we had 2 courses of rubbish. The tortillas were burnt to a crisp, had hard cheese on them and less than a teaspoon of salsa. I didn't eat them. Our meals were abysmal, and when we complained, the lady serving us didn't take it very well, and she went on the attack. She was at the very least, downright nasty. We paid but it was a total waste of money. We'll never be back.

Took my friend in for her birthday ordered the macaroni cheese it was offel it was like something out of cheap tin and a bit of cheese on top. This used to be a great place to go but very disappointed won't be back. I work to hard to waste my money.

Went to nip in last with father in law before train was due , whT I'm assuming was a regular standing at the door way smoking pretending to be a bouncer said not tonight banter mate , walked by him bump in to him and he turned pure aggressive and tried to fight my father in law whose nearly 70 , I'm no saying this is pubs fault but obviously no going to be back here,,

My third visit to Dr Gorman's for lunch, this time I was with my two sisters, we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices,they well cooked,well presented and really delicious I know there will be further visits.

Wee cheeky birthday dinner on a Monday nite , food in here was amazing to the point of nothing left on the plate , the place has had a facelift but they have forgotten the important things that customers notice ie the toilets (needing ripped out and replaced ) that aside brilliant for dinner

Waited about 40 mins for main meal i had the chicken enchiladas with chips and salad ! My partner ordered the steak pie with mash and veg ! Well where do i start 🤔 Enchiladas where terrible basically a wrap with the very least amount of cheese on top filled with cheap cubed frozen chicken cooked in a very poor quality Enchilada (very very acidic )sauce with uncooked peppers and chicken was overcooked ! My chips where really undercooked and solid in middle ! And if 2 slices of red onion 1 piece of lettuce and 1 very small slither of tomatoe is a salad ? You should take it off the menu !My partners steak pie was OK but the over boiled mushy veg and the plastic microwaved mash was a disgrace ! Needles to say i wont be returning here had to go for a mcdonalds afterwards as i left most of my food on the plate !

Went to a Christmas night out. Got a good deal for the meal. Food was nice and staff were friendly. Good evening had by all.

Very disappointing Used to be so much better. Main course had to be sent back TWICE as was not hot enough, server did not look happy. Eventually choose something else which was no more than okay. No large bottles of Rose wine - offered small bottles but that works out way more expensive. Food and service both a let down. Used to be a regular but could not recommend now.

The food is okay but selection of wine very poor.I could neither get Chardonnay nor Merlot.Hardly exotic wine and when I asked for beer I had to make do with a Bud,not my first choice.

First time in Dr Gormans for ages,, I ordered steak pie potatoes veg it was Delicious,, my Sister had fajitas chips she enjoyed and we both enjoyed desert chocolate fudge cake &cream, carmel apple pie custard,, Staff Excellent service, Very Welcoming Friendly. Definitely be back,, 5 ⭐️
