Over rated. Food mediocre. Service slow. Nice views from restaurant.

Would recommend this place, not just for accommodation but also for weddings. Myself and my partner attended a wedding here and it was just stunning, with the backdrop of the hills and it seeming so peaceful it’s a perfect place for a wedding. The outside area was very nice and a great sun trap and we had the weather with us so was a perfect extension to the function room. The turnaround was quick from the 3 course to the reception which was good but I did feel they removed too many chairs to make room for the dance floor. The decor was nice and everything just flowed throughout the building. Staff were very helpful and friendly, I would love to able to comment on the Spa but I guess il have to just go back again to try it.

I booked a table via the website, arrived at the restaurant and was informed there was no table booked in my name but they could squeeze us in, I showed the young man my email which had the reservation and he still just said we can squeeze you in, no apology! We planned our day around coming here so would have been very disappointed had we had to find somewhere else to eat. We were told to go through but he didn't tell us where we were going! Sat down we were given food menus, after a while we were asked if we wanted drinks but we'd been given no drinks menu! We seemed to be served by everyone in the restaurant I think, we were almost like a nuisance to them, no smile or warm greeting apart from a young girl with long dark hair and the man who took payment. If we hadn't been starving we would probably have left. On the plus side the food was very good and was served in a timely manner. The restaurant was clean, well presented and had a beautiful view. Sadly because of this experience I have cancelled a future booking.

Needed somewhere to stay for two nights in the area for work. Booked 315 and was very pleasantly surprised. Comfortable room, hot and powerful shower in a spacious bathroom, decent bed and pillows, spacious desk to work at and a good amount of wardrobe space. Tea and coffee making facilities were fine as well. Staff friendly. Only regret is that I didn't get the chance to use the restaurant due to workload, so can't comment on the food. Be aware that if you are in rooms 9 or 10, you have a flight of stairs to contend with, which could be an issue if you have multiple heavy bags. Recommended.

I thought the afternoon tea was very poor and not good value

Christmas Dinner Arrived on christmas day, I am disabled and was a little put out that there were only 2 disabled spaces. We had to park at the far end of the car park and walk the rest of the way, not an ideal start! Service was efficient and waitresses very pleasant and smiley, however we were completely unimpressed with the food. I wont labour this but we both had duck terrine and as per the review below, had the smallest piece of toast known to man, so the majority of my pate was left and wasted. Our meats (turkey and venison) were acceptable, but the yorkshire pudding was chewy and tasteless, and as per the below, vegetables were tiny as were the tiniest new potatoes I have ever seen, chopped in half and thrown on the plate with the veg. No mashed potato and no roast potatoes. I even wondered if these had been microwaved. The christmas pudding was enjoyable but would have been better served with rum or brandy sauce and not bland custard. At £110 a pop it did not represent good value for money and we will not be joining them for christmas dinner next year, sorry.

Booked this local bar/restaurant for a family gathering pre Christmas. We have been to this venue several times for various functions including weddings, evening meals, wine tasting nights and others. We have always found the food and service very good however this was not the case this time. Firstly for us the location is good, fairly rural with adequate parking. The venue is nicely presented and clean and bar service though pricey has always been fairly quick. The Christmas function was described as Christmas fayre with disco. There were 3 tables for this night including ours which was a table for eight family members plus what appeared to be two larger groups on "work nights out". The dining room was very cold on arrival and I had to ask for the heating to be put on, which I think happened. There was no real Christmas atmosphere though we each got a very cheap cracker with no gift! No festive music played quietly throughout the meal which is probably basic to generate a Christmas festive feel. We were directed to arrive for 7pm for a 7:30pm serving though the service didn't start till 8ish, though we didn't take issue with this. We had to decide what we were eating from the menu some weeks earlier and the meals came pre- plated. We were each offered 1small round piece of the thinnest sliced bread with butter. When the food came the prawn cocktail was received well but the soup was poor and the duck pate was ok but served only with two tiny dried bread rounds which were totally inadequate to fully enjoy the pate. The turkey dinners were awful quality, in the tables opinion, with the meat resembling an offering from Bernard Matthews from the 70's/80s. The vegetables appeared to be straight from the freezer and the sprout size potatoes were hidden beneath the meat, almost hiding in shame with the sprouts cut in half for some reason. There was a pale pig in blanket with something which didn't really resemble bacon or a sausage. This meal fell short of a Witherspoon's Christmas dinner (in the tables opinion) yet that comes at £11 with a decent pint or glass of wine. Those who chose the pie said the meat was nice but it wasn't a pie as it was presented simply with a square of pastry on top. This in the the opinion of any pie eater isn't a pie it's a very pretentious and lazy way to present stew. The puddings were then presented. Awful cheese cake appeared which tasted of nothing anyone on the table could identify with a thick claggy jelly on top. A lady clearing plates was challenged on the flavour of the cheese cake which she also couldn't explain. She did try to state the cheesecake was homemade which is doubted by those who tried to eat. Two were sent back uneaten . The chocolate truffle was an indescribable texture and didn't taste of chocolate or anything else. The food was truly awful and certainly not anywhere near £45 a head quality . Shame on 315 and shame on whoever made and presented it. Some of my family travelled a long distance to join us for this, even staying over with you, yet we're embarrassed having invited them. When you then had the cheek to offer a guy playing records who never spoke once and the music was so random. Pathetic. We will not return and can never recommend you to anyone. Let's hope this was a bad night for you and you accept you let yourself down but if you carry on like this you'll lose lots of customers. --------------------------- Passive aggressive response from owner is shown below. They didn't counter my complaints so they must know and acknowledge I'm correct. Totally unprofessional egotistical and pathetic. The 4 X's simply enforces their childish amateur position on this.I have emailed them twice in relation to this visit without response. Seriously think twice about going here.👍

I had lunch here today with two friends . I can honestly say that it was one of the best lunch experiences I've ever had . Everything was so good . Service, ambiance , warmth , discretion, food ( gorgeous ) views, menu choice . All excellent in my opinion . To add to the great experience my friend had a voucher allowing us a discount on mains which was such a welcome surprise .

Visited 315 as a party of 8 for lunch on Monday 18th November 2024. Of the 8 main courses 3 were sent back as they were cold. Two meals had onion bajis which were burnt to a cinder and on the third the chips were black. One of our party declined a replacement meal. We had to ask for salt and pepper( only a small point but the waiter/manager brought two salts). We had to ask for gravy/sauce for the pheasant. The food was mediocre but to maintain the reputation of the head chef I would point out that it was his day off. As I had organised the lunch I went to speak to our waiter/ manager to ask if our poor experience could be reflected in the bill. He gave a firm no but when pressed said he would reduce the bill by £2 ( a £1 each for the onion bajis). I pointed out that one guest had not eaten at all as had sent his meal back but the reply was that he had been offered another meal and therefore was charged for it. I was not happy with his response and told him I would be contacting the General Manager. I rang the General Manager, and introduced myself. Before I had the opportunity to tell him about our experience he said he had spoken to his member of staff and also the owners and we would not be getting a refund. This is without him or the owners hearing the customer’s version of events. He did say it is 315’s policy not to put salt and pepper on the tables as the food leaves the kitchen perfectly seasoned. I note that management occasionally respond to these reviews so I invite you to do so and repudiate any of the above facts.

My wife booked us in for the morning spa session and a full body massage on the 26/10. I didn’t get the two ladies names who were serving and did the massage but it was a great experience all round. As I have been suffering with panic attacks and not been out of the house for a month it was a great relaxing environment. Will defo go again

Restaurant is all a bit average. Perfunctory service passable food. Places like this are really struggling mabye they should try a little bit harder? Owner has worked in places where things are done well has he just lost his mojo?

This was my second time dining at 315 bar, my first time was an anniversary meal, and recently for my mums 60th birthday. This is such a nice venue for special occasions and date night. The food and staff are lovely, and not overpriced. I will definitely be back.

Attended a private function. Expensive. I wouldn't want to have to go again.

A little over priced for the standard of food

Staying away working can always be a little hit and miss but this place was definitely a hit. Great service, delicious breakfast and a lovely comfortable room. I would definitely use this place again when working up this way.

Food was amazing but staff were rude and made us feel uncomfortable. We were made to feel like an imposition for not making a booking (we were happy to leave if the restaurant was full) before finally being seated in a practically empty dining room. Staff were all very dismissive and rude, I saw our table being specially pointed at and whispered about. Myself and my partner have both worked restaurant jobs and know how some customers can be, we always make an effort to be understanding and kind - that effort was wasted here. We aren’t sure if it’s because we’re two young women and potentially looked out of place (though we weren’t exactly wearing joggers) but we definitely won’t be returning. The food was lovely though so it’s a shame we can’t go back and try more of it.

I've visited 315 on two totally different occasions and both were 1st class experiences. The 1st visit was an overnight stay, the room was well presented, clean and comfortable. The 2nd, dinner for two, excellent table service, the food was delicious, well presented and timeous. The staff were efficient, pleasant and polite. Definitely a place I would recommend and return to.

Unfortunately the service was shocking, had to ask for each course or more drinks. Moaned at by waiter when THEY brought the wrong drinks, Swordfish was undercooked, butter on the table but no bread, ice cream was melting as it arrived. No more than a pub with food nowadays unfortunately

We had an amazing day here for my sisters wedding. The staff were great, super helpful! The pull out beds weren't great, with the dip in the middle it was definitely the closest I've been to my mum in a long time 😂 Breakfast was a little on the small side tbh. But the food at the wedding was fab! Very nice! The hotel was lovely. Done up fab for the big day! Thank you!

The food was lovey but the room and setting wasn't particularly in line with fine dining. The carpet was lifting in the restaurant and the bedroom was basic. The remote control for the TV didn't work and we only had one set of towels for the two of us.

Very disappointing meal today. Pasta dry and nothing special. Burger bun was soggy and service average, not very attentive.

Lovely place, fab food and staff are accommodating. Spa is amazing and I’m definitely coming back for it and a steak! Thank you so much.

Went for a Sunday afternoon lunch with friends and had a fantastic experience. Great ambiance, polite and friendly staff and a fantastic 3 course meal. Will definitely return 👍

Lunch was really good and excellent service.

We battled the elements to get to this place and were not disappointed. Service was friendly from the outset, fine dining, quality of the beef, potatoes and even the cheese was on an absolute other level. It is not too expensive, but the desserts are a tad limited and the ice cream, in particular, is too expensive, in my opinion. However, It is fine dining, so while you don't get a lot, it is the type of food that fills you, and doesn't leave you feeling bloated, because it is cooked to perfect, with premium ingredients. I would attend again on a heartbeat. We gave our compilments to the chef and team on the way out. Immaculate!

Booked Sunday lunch for 4 but 2 couldn't make it. Accommodated on a table for 2 which was fine. Food was great, we opted for the Roast Turkey Sunday lunch. Plenty of variety of vegetables although half a sprout was of Scrooge proportions 😢. My partner actually only had a sprout leaf. Is there a sprout shortage we wondered 🤔 2 plates were placed Infront of us by young waiter. We weren't asked if there was anything we wanted so had to ask for: salt, pepper, cranberry sauce, water for the table and, replenishment of drinks. Empty glasses were not cleared away. I would have thought the standard of staffing at this establishment would have been much higher. It's not like it was heaving with customers that they could have used as an excuse of being busy. First time here, would go again but hope what should be normal standards of service improve

Good lunch venue. Great service, good food, sensible portions. Enjoyed everything but the steak pie was far too salty for my taste.

The singer this evening is amazing! However the wine at £35 for a bottle of wine is of the scale 😡

Traditional Roast beef dinner excellent 👌

We stayed for one night dinner bed and breakfast. We arrived early afternoon and we're met with a warm friendly atmosphere from all the staff. We were given our room keys and were taken through our stay . Our table booking and time. We're breakfast will be served and start and finishing time for serving. In all extremely friendly but very professional at all times. Our room was of an high standard and extremely clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very spacious. We booked our evening meal for 7.30 and we we're both looking forward to the evening ahead. We were met at the bar by the same gentleman who booked us in earlier on that day and asked us to take a seat and he would be straight over. We we're served with a complimentary drink witch started the evening off well. We were then shown to our table. That is we're the magic really started the exquisite cuisine was outstanding from the service the presentation and the taste. Thankyou to all our main waiter for the evening again was the gentleman that met us on our arrival. We both felt we received very personal service even though they were plenty other staff serving and all very professional and efficient in there service. We had a great evening. We woke in the morning after a very comfortable night's sleep. We went down for breakfast and was shown to our table. And guess wot the same gentleman again who met us on arrival served us breakfast. We can not recommend this hotel and restaurant inuff. From us arriving to leaving we had fantastic service, and cuisine. On us leaving we asked about the gentleman who helped making our stay so comfortable. Thankyou Andrew for helping make our stay so enjoyable and the exquisite food.
