Went to see darren lee singing who was amazing. Can't say that for the food. Tiny portions and charged £5 extra for 5 prawns. Eight of us went and we was all very very disappointed.

Booked a family meal.. felt no atmosphere, slow and poor service.. just disappointing. It was a bland totally underwhelming experience.. no music.. no attentive service.. food edible but not exciting

we came here early, first time, obviously coming early the food was fresh. Nice waiter, food was delicious although not cheap. Plenty to choose from on the menu

Used to go to this lovely restaurant regularly before the covid pandemic, but have not been for over 4 years, before yesterday evening. Had an excellent meal- me being vegan and my friend being gluten free were no issue at all. Same excellent food, wonderful atmosphere and lovely helpful staff. Thank you! Will be back very soon.

A very nice Italian restaurant that serves quality food with ample portions. Staff weee friendly and attentive but not overbearing. We had antipasto for 2 that was ample. Followed by risotto and spaghetti with meatballs and tiramisu to share. With wine and a morretti the bill was £83. Not expensive but not cheap. Only gripe was the restaurant was too full and they kept churning customers to get people served quickly and out so they could get more customers in. I would go there again but would book later so that I kept table till end.

We recently organised a birthday gathering with friends at this restaurant. I just cannot express how helpful the staff were in the organisation of the event, in the afternoon helping to decorate the room and then to serve the food so professionally and politely to all our guests. Particular thanks go to Bill, the general manager, and also to Georga for being so absolutely delightful and accomodating. The food was amazing! Everyone attending expressed how excellent the food was and even though there were 26 of us all food was hot on arrival at the table. I truly cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough for its excellent food, service and professionalism. Thank you to all.

Asked for one thing to be changed on a dish - no chillies - response from waiter was "can't you just chose something else it be easier" I don't see this as a big problem when food is made to order. (I've worked in restaurants and it was never a big deal) It soured that start of the celebratory meal we had gone for. Fortunately food was good even though it was nearly thrown all over me, but can get same else where for cheaper it's nothing special. We asked for shoe string fries and got normal fries. They stated that they are shoe string but nothing like the shoe string ones had before anywhere else. Image included of what arrived and what was expected.

Last minute decision for date night.. the restaurant was quiet but the noise from the staff and the Kitchen was just too much. We couldn’t hear each other. Starter was good, main was terrible. I ordered my £28 Filet steak medium/rare and it was dry and chewy.. a very average wine for a premium price. Not the best experience

Great food and great staff. Very friendly generally. Only thing I would change is to sought out the terrible acoustics of the restaurant. I struggled to have a conversation with my friends as everything was amplified and very loud. Shame but I sure it could be improved.

We visited for a family meal with our son who is allergic to dairy, eggs & peanuts. I rang ahead the week before & after consulting the head chef they reassured me they could cater for our needs. On arrival we had the opportunity to speak to the chef, who informed us of my son’s options. There were several items from the menu, including pizza made with dairy free cheese or they could adapt some of the other items to make them safe. Our son enjoyed a three course meal with vegan ice-cream for dessert. I wish it was this easy everywhere, as they made a safe meal, reassuringly without any fuss. To top it off the food was delicious & all 15 people in our party enjoyed everything we had…. just exceptional ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have just visited 22 The Square and tried the Special for 2 people, 2 courses for £22, Wow Absolutely Delicious 🤤, we both had the Garlic Mushrooms to start with this was so tasty and creamy. I then followed on with the Pollo a la Crema, again a very tasty sauce with a very tender Chicken too and my nephew had the Pollo Millanaise which again he said was very tasty too, we didn’t have room for dessert, but we had with our food the Madri beer, couldn’t fault anything, the staff here are so friendly and nothing seemed like a bother to them, it was perfect for a get together before Christmas, but we both said we shall definitely return in the new year, keep up the good work, 22 👍

Our family has visited here over twenty different occasions. Every time we have visited we have received 1st class and friendly service. We also use the take out option sometimes and find the food is prepared on time and well packed. We will keep coming again and again, keep up the fantastic work.

First visit to a restaurant since lockdown and well worth the wait. Local restaurant we have visited many times but although restrictions were in place everything was done professionally and didn't impact our enjoyment. Thoroughly enjoyable pizza and pasta, i've been a few times and really want to try more things on the menu, but can't go past the Spaghetti Gambero Diavola which I end up picking every time and am never disappointed.There is a bar located underneath as well, which is a nice addition to the centre of Cross HIlls. It can be a little loud, but that's a sign of a popular location.

This was our first visit to 22, spacious, modern restaurant with open kitchen, good ambiance, very clean. We had calamari, beautifully cooked with a light tempura batter; soup of the day,celery & leek, smooth & very tasty, served with the most amazing home made bread.For the mains we had sea bass with prawns & mussels, chestnuts & sprouts, generous portion, unusual combination that worked well, very tasty; Kiev calzone which was crammed full of chicken, mushrooms & cheese in a beautiful garlic sauce, served with Napoli sauce in the side ( was asked whether I wanted the Napoli sauce served on the plate or separately in a jug) this was delicious but could only eat half of it, the remainder was boxed up for me to take home; the third main was rib eye steak, great size, not over fatty, tasty & cooked to perfection, served with large fresh mushrooms & tomato, ordered a side of chips ( enough for 2 people) and peppercorn sauce, fabulous. None of us could manage a dessert but shared a trio of home made ice cream ( 1 portion, 3 spoons) we had salted caramel ( very delicate not over salty) hazelnut (would go back for this alone it was amazing) & strawberry ( fruity & delicious) served with a chocolate wafer roll & half a large strawberry. Finally finished off with a cup of tea (good strength just how we like it) & a complimentary mini mince pie each. The service was very good, great knowledge of the dishes, friendly without fuss. Would we come back? You bet we would, contemplated buying the house opposite that is for sale it was that good! A treasure of a find that will see us returning often.

We visited last night for my daughter's 21st with family. We don't live in the area so booked this based on reviews. It did not disappoint. My very elderly grandad wanted tomato soup which was not on the menu but without hesitation they made him tomato soup. I am vegan they had several options and were very helpful. I had vegan arrancini balls which were gorgeous and a lovely pizza pictures attached. The portions are nice you won't go hungry and the food is very good. The steak eaters said it was very good steak, the lasagne risotto and carbonara all went down extremely well. The service was also very good nice staff and a good laugh while being attentive. Had a lovely meal here last night to celebrate my birthday (today). I had the goats cheese starter which was divine and my partner had the breaded mozzarella. I had the mushroom rizzo for main and she had the meat calzone, perfect choices just too much of it! Our waitress Charlotte was attentive, chatty and warming and a credit to the restaurant, as we both work in hospitality ourselves we can appreciate the good service! Also the gent who appeared to be the general manager? (I could be wrong) brought out a little candle in our ice cream as I’d mentioned it was an upcoming birthday meal, what a generous touch. Visited a few times and always enjoy the food especially the 2 for £22 offer. All the meals I've had have been lovely and the atmosphere and location are great. Service is great apart from paying - everytime it's been a wait to pay which I find frustrating (minor thing in grand scheme of things)

Came on a little getaway and we were wanting some food on the Saturday, we booked in on the Saturday and was treated with smiles. We weren’t rushed at all and the food was lovely, Charlotte who was one of our waitresses was lovely and so chatty and made us feel so welcome as well as the gent who looked to be the general manager. Went here last night for a meal with my partner and sat upstairs for a change. However the service was still at the high standard it always is. Food was great as always. Our waitress Alex and the waiter were attentive and both are all round great members of the team. We will definitely be coming back sometime soon.

The food, atmosphere and staff were all excellent. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in the restaurant. Promptly shown to our table and looked after excellently by our waitress Charlotte (a credit to the restaurant). We were a party of 8 placed on the top floor. This is not a problem to us as we are all fit and well. It was a Friday evening, loud and very busy. They have a great menu with a specials list with unusual dishes on which we're a lot more money. We all had a starter and main with wine and other alcoholic drinks. Having seen the reviews and hearing good things about this restaurant we decided to give it a try and booked online for a Friday night.

A lovely restaurant serving good quality Italian / English food. The starters slightly pricey but if honest the food and service are good so worth it. The bonus of a bar serving rather good cocktails on site too. A treat before of after your meal. 3rd visit so guess will be back.

I am gluten free and really struggle to find anywhere that does a good gluten free pizza, so was dubious about ordering one here. I ordered the steak pizza and it was absolutely AMAZING the best gluten free pizza ever and it tasted just like a normal one! My partner had the normal calzone and he really enjoyed that too. Will return even more than we did before!
