One of the reasons we selected this B&B was because of previous reviews praising the quality of the dinner that was offered. Unfortunately when I tried to book dinner I was advised, very apologetically, that Kerensa's husband was now the chef at the Royal Golf Hotel and he was no longer doing meals in-house. We should not have worried because the B&B experience was second to none and probably the best we experienced on our trip around the north of Scotland. 2 Quail is a large period terraced house on the main street. Traffic noise was not a problem. The decor throughout the house is sympathetic to the age of the house, probably not our taste, but it is super in this particular house. The room was spacious, as was the en-suite and we felt extremely comfortable. The cooked breakfast was as good as it gets!

Visited this B & B with another couple last month. One of our party had stayed before so we had been told how good it was. The building was so welcoming, tastefully refurbished and the hosts were so friendly it was like visiting old friends. Our 3 course evening meal, cooked by Michael, was excellent, high end restaurant quality. We would recommend requesting haggis fritters starter. Breakfast was also delicious. We would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Michael is not only a host but also a accomplished chef and is preparing some incredible gourmet evening meals for the guests. A epicurean treat that should not be missed. You need to look no further than downstairs for an outstanding dinner!

Three of us visited Dornoch and stayed at2 Quail Lodge. The Dornach area is lovely, and the town itself is very cute as well as very interesting. We choose 2 Quail Lodge as our place to stay and were here for two nights. The accommodations are quite comfortable and our hostess was charming and pleasant. She suggested we dine with them one night as her husband was an accomplished chef. We were unsure, but decided to do so. Oh my, we were all so happy we did. Michael, the chef, spoke with us in the morning as we all planned our menu. He suggested a cheddar soufflé, we agreed on salmon, and dessert was chocolate. The soufflé arrived and we gasped. It was perfect .....tasty, beautiful, hot and perfectly shaped. Did I say it was tasty? We next had perfectly cooked salmon served along side broccoli, asparagus and boiled potatoes. Both the hostess and chef know a lot about wines and choose a good Shiraz for us. The meal was the best we had had in Scotland. The chef is engaging and has cooked in London, at the golf club, and has been at it for 30 years. We spent time chatting with him at the end of the meal, and truly enjoyed every minute. The guest house has a new grocery store that has opened next door that is wonderful. And their location is perfectly situated to explore the town and the region. It was a magical evening, and we highly recommend 2 Quail.

Michael is a spectacular chef and only plies his trade for those who stay at 2Quail; I admire his talent and spirit which are impeccable. You should only hope to have a dinner that he prepares with his bride Kerensa choosing your wine. It is the only place I dine at where someone else chooses the wine and you will never be disappointed.

What can we say.....2 Quail is a Delightful and first class B&B that we were lucky enough to find on our trip all around Scotland. Kerensa is a fabulous host, received us very nicely and showed us to a beautiful bedroom. Very tastefully decorated with a beautiful bathroom, full of nice and very beautiful small and classy details with wonderful scents, getting to it through an incredible house with awesome furniture and fireplace, just stunning. We had booked initially for a night, but because of the warm feeling of the place, the peaceful atmosphere and the way Kerensa treated us, decided to spend one more night, and we were lucky enough as there was availability that next day!!! Breakfast was just....perfect, and exactly what we needed for our days adventure. She was kind enought to get Gluten free bread for my wife when we asked for without any hesitation, even giving it to us for the rest of the trip. She gave us a few hints on places to eat and visit, which we tried and enjoyed, as she knows very well about that....Beautiful place, friendly host and lovely breakfasts. Value for money without a doubt!!! We will be back there when we return to Scotland for sure!!! All the Best for you Kerensa and for Michael. Take care and Thank you. Joaquin and Leticia

2 Quail is now a Bed & Breakfast, they done away with restaurant a couple of years ago and concentrated on being a superb B&B. Kerensa is a fabulous host, we telephoned on spur of moment and was told fully booked yet one person had to confirm so within half hour Kerensa called back to say room was ours if we still wanted it. On arrival, we were shown to a beautiful bedroom with ensuite. Room was tastefully decorated as was the rest of house, furniture was stunning. Breakfast was great, I explained I was vegetarian and on my second morning was presented with warm croissants....great surprise. Beautiful place, friendly host and lovely breakfasts. Value for money and felt spoiled. Will be back Kerensa. Jackie & Colin

To reply to Trevor S, of course you can hear the traffic - the rooms overlook the street! Terrific B&B with bags of individuality, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Great to find somewhere away from the norm. Terrific breakfast, great value and delightful hosts.

There can be no doubting the warmth of Kerensa's welcome and her ongoing attention. Michael's food at the Golf Club was also good. However, we felt that this B & B did not match the comments made by other reviewers and indeed the article we read in the Telegraph. Our room was on the first floor directly overlooking the pavement and the main road through Dornoch. Despite sash window double glazing and internal shutters you could hear passing traffic until quite late. We also found the room itself somewhat cramped and the en- suite shower room dated. The bed linen was clean but we prefer white pillow cases at least. A pity because Kerensa was so helpful but 2 Quail needs to have some updating.

After reading a review in New York Times, just had to try it – on arrival, taken to the small library room with the comfy couches for an aperitif & to meet fellow diners [mostly in-the-know golfers]. The host goes through the menu/wine options with you – not extensive, but 3 mains +vegetarian. You move through to the dining room which has 4 tables [~12-14 people] to enjoy your selections [which I am sure you will].A very relaxed atmosphere, dress is smart casual. My wife and I found the prices reasonable for this multi-course meal, however it's all relative as we are coming from London!Bearing in mind the small seating numbers, booking is mandatory. They also have rooms, but we stayed at Dornoch castle [5-mins walk]

Popped in today and managed to get a table as they were very busy so enjoyed our usual wonderful lunch. Always cooked to perfection and the famous "Richard's chips" were fantastic. They are dog friendly too so our wee pooch Alvah had a great time being petted by other visitors.

We have a delicious afternoon tea at The Snug today. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. Lots of thought is put into the afternoon tea with a great choices of sandwiches, yummy homemade sausage roll, scone and lots of delicious sweet treats. I would highly recommend this just make sure to book in advance because obviously this needs to be prepared. Excellent value for money. Great atmosphere too.

On our holiday in Glenelg we popped into this cafe, which is popular with both locals and visitors. We only had coffee, but the food on offer looked very tasty. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There is ample parking nearby. Overall a nice place for a snack. Highly recommend.

We didn’t have a booking but the restaurant fitted us in which we really appreciated. We were not disappointed the food was exceptional and so was the service. The menu is small, but perfect. We all ordered a different main course and none of us were disappointed. I have a starter again, beautiful and the rest of the party a dessert again fantastic. The complimentary soup was a nice touch too. It was the first evening of our stay and it could not have been any better. A really great restaurant. Thank you.
