Abdolutely superb meal at 19twenty. Everything was perfect. Service was exemplary, food was just spot on. I asked for GF and it was perfect - got exactly what i asked for. I was so happy! Thank you. And the server was just brilliant. A great eat out experience. Been before and standard is first class - well done. My favourite eatery.

We had arranged to go to this restaurant just because it had hanging kebabs and have to say it didn't disappoint we were welcomed in and shown to our table the staff were all welcoming and happy to help but the hanging kebabs were tremendous not to big and full of flavour we have recommended this to another couple and they went and said the same will definitely be going back again when in Durham

This was our 3rd visit for lunch. Every time our food was delicious, staff were attentive and pleasant. We would definitely recommend as dining destination and will be back.

Our waitress was phenomenal with her service. Food was absolutely beautiful and I would definitely recommend to others. I asked her name and she was called Grace so big up Grace for her amazing customer service.

19Twenty is a centrally located restaurant, just a short walk from the river, making it a convenient spot to dine in. We booked for 4.30 on a Sunday so it was quite quiet when we arrived. It is quite small so I can imagine it feeling a big of a tight fit when busty. We were greeted and sat at our table by our server, Erin very quickly. Though our table was slightly wobbly at first, Erin swiftly resolved the issue without us even needing to ask. While there was a small wait for our food, it was absolutely worth it—the quality of the dishes more than made up for the time. Our group ordered a variety of mains: the flat iron steak, belly buster burger, rib-eye steak, and the hanging lamb kebab. We also added a side of sweet potatofries and a side of "proper" chips, which were impressively large and perfectly cooked. Every single dish was beautifully prepared, and all of us were thoroughly impressed by how well everything was cooked. One minor hiccup was the garlic butter for the hanging kebab—it didn’t quite "drip" as expected, but that was a very small detail in an otherwise exceptional meal. The total bill, which included the food, sides, peppercorn sauce one Coke, two beers, and a cocktail, (cherry mist Manhattan (beautiful!!) came to £127. Given the high quality of the food and service, we felt it was excellent value for money. Overall, 19Twenty offers fantastic food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The hanging kebab here has to be the best I have ever had the staff were excellent and answered any questions we had will definitely be going back

Sadly evening was ruined by the (hostess) manager coming over to the table to be very condescending and rude, asking over the table about how much of the food was eaten. The rest of staff were great and food was the same so just down to one member of staff not knowing when to stop pushing.

Matador burger: very good Triple cooked chips: had a kind of synthetic taste to them. Wouldn’t recommend. Ketchup and Mayo: very low quality

I booked a table here after a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. Service was brilliant on a busy Saturday night. The food was outstanding. My husband had a burger and I had a hanging kebab..both were beautiful. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely be back. I also really enjoyed the background music!

Super cosy decor, service was quick and servers were lovely. Cocktails were good and very nice to be able to see them being made from our seats. Starters were delicious and made us excited for our mains. Presentation of steaks was excellent with steaks being cooked exactly to our specifications. The Parmesan and truffle chips were incredible and the onion rings may be the best I’ve ever had! Overall a really excellent little restaurant with well priced and delicious food.

Good atmosphere and service but was disappointed with the food. The breaded truffle mushrooms were wet, rubbery and tasteless and there was certainly no truffle on them or in the mayo. The hanging skewers were okay but nothing special. Small wine list for a wine bar...

Loved 1920. Been in durham 3 years and always been a great stop off on a Friday evening for a drink. Tonight a bouncer started on our party for the insinuation it was a bar? They insisted it was always a restaurant (pointing to those in there at 11pm) and started on my entire party including some girls. These were not the usual 1920s people we recognised. Many in my party knew them to be Jimmie’s staff. They got incredibly agressive in the face of some students trying to give good business to a bar. Classic case of power going to the head. I hope the owners (who have always been good to us) consider again hiring these people who turn away good business and good people who have always supported them.

Burger was nice but took a while to recieve and the triple cooked chips were soggy wedges

First we came late at night and the kitchen was still open! Then the dishes were super well presented and fantastically cooked! The waitresses were super nice and kind and always smiling! Also the owner of the place that came to check if everything was ok! The place and the atmosphere were super cozy and the music, bachata and salsa very relax to talk and laugh! A place to visit again!

Delicious food ( love their Caesar salad and seabass ) we often get it take away but we went for lunch today abd they accept dog. 5/5 recommend.

Very nice meal on a quiet day. The meatballs were not just delicious, but very filling for an entree. My husband had the mussels in garlic/white sauce and really enjoyed them. Staff and owner very friendly and helpful.

Service excellent from the two ladies out front. Ordered the Flat Iron steak at £14 which comes with a salad. The fries are £4 extra. The steak was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. We also had the two for £10 cocktails which is a good deal but the oddest rule was that both cocktails had to be the same one which restricts the customer somewhat and would probably mean I would choose somewhere else next time. Also be aware that there is a service charge on top of your bill but that doesn't go to waitresses. Ask them to take it off and tip with cash.

Really good quality food definitely somewhere to visit while in Durham. Only thing to watch out for are the prices, quite expensive but the food is worth the price. 10/10

It has to be the worst fish and chips that l have had, we were very close to refusing to eat it , and our friend had steak and chips, which looked very nice. The batter was well overcooked on the outside of the fish and raw batter inside. The chips were disgusting

Food was lovely; service was awful. We booked a table for our anniversary. When we arrived the greeting was not very friendly and we were just waved vaguely towards a table. We then sat for a while before anyone came to take our order (people who arrived after us were seen to before we were). When someone did come to take our order and we dared hesitate for (literally 2 seconds), the waitress walked off saying she'd come back later. Very unfriendly, bordering on rude. The food was lovely (lack of options though, only one veggie dish and no vegan). As soon as we were finished the bill appeared on our table without us even asking. The whole time it just felt like they really did not want us there and couldn't wait for us to leave! Wasn't particularly busy, but few other tables in. Couple on table next to us seemed to fair slightly better with the service (same waitress). They were even offered desserts, which is more can be said for us. Overall very, very unwelcoming and unfriendly. Would recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Went into the bar and was placed in a seat next to the wall, which was fine, but a customer behind the table was taking a little bit more space then needed, but as the place was empty, we moved the table out from the wall. The long table next to us was reserved but empty and weren't due in for another 20 minutes... I pulled the table out a little so my partner could sit and we didn't disturb the guy behind to be faced with questions to me (as a bigger lady) asking if if like to move somewhere more comfortable, after the 'waiter' spoke to his colleague for a few minutes pointing an looking over... he eventually had the balls to come over to which I called him out... canny bar, but this guy clearly needs some customer service training... its not good 'fat shaming' people. I won't be going again any time soon

This is a fantastic restaurant with some of the best food and service I've experienced. The location was delightful, the manager a delight and the overall approach to making a customer feel welcomed and taken care of first rate. Highly recommended.

19twenty actively promote the fact that they are lgbtq friendly… which would make one assume that they are not prejudic. However I was refused to eat here with my partner simply because I was wearing a tracksuit. Seems like discrimination to me.

Ordered a classic burger, truffle fries and ceasar salad. The burger was hot but a little overdone. The (I think) BBQ sauce was way too sweet and made it taste like a desert, unfortunately. The salad had way too much dressing. it was like they put a whole bottle on, which ruined it. On the plus side, the fries were great. I've ordered numerous times before but likely won't again.

We ordered food at 18:20 and from the various times offered selected the time of 19:20 for it to be delivered. Food arrived at 20:29, over and hour later than what was suggested when ordered (we watched the time increase on the app, at one point is was going to be 90 minutes late!). The food is now in my oven as it is cold!!! I’m starving AND furious!

First time me and my partner have been to Durham, if we ever do return we will make sure to come back here. The burgers were out of this world. So tasty with chips and mozzarella sticks. Service was top notch also. Definitely worth a visit

Waited 45 minutes for a bottle of wine we ordered when we arrived and starters came before drinks. Seemed OK with allergies and food was cooked very well, but just such a shame that they were so short staffed. We were upstairs, with really quiet music and you could go 20 minutes without seeing a waiter/waitress. Was a battle to get finished plates removed. Seemed much better atmosphere downstairs. Really disappointed with the service. To put the cherry on top, the manager left to go home before we did!

Very slow service, the order was taken wrong twice, and the cocktails were different each time served. Also playing rave music at one point which spoiled the atmosphere!

I can not say enough about this place. The manager was fantastic and kept the kitchen open as our large party was running late, having driven 6 hours for our weekend in Durham. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Even though they didn't have baby changing facilities, the manager found a quiet area for me to change my baby and could not have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend 19Twenty and if we lived close we would come again.

First visit to Durham and I must say that this was the best meal I have had in a loonnnggg time! I had the sea bass and my husband had the burger and it was all delicious. Good music, relaxing atmosphere - just perfect for our anniversary and very reasonably priced for the portion and the quality of food you get. I would come back to Durham just for this meal!! Great busy restaurant in the middle of Durham situated on the Old Elvert Bridge. Very friendly welcoming staff. Comfortable seating at intimate tables. They do cater to groups which are easily accommodated. Good varied menu as well as an interesting drinks list. Lovely ambiance for any occasion. A definite place to dine on our next visit.

What a find in Furham, lovely bar/restaurant by the river. Nice wine bar with good food. Upstairs seating with views. Great staff, especially Daniel who was front of house. All staff were great. Visited 2 nights running. Great food & good prices. Lovely atmosphere. Good for all groups of people. Will definitely visit again.

Wow - we were so impressed! Beautiful decor and very friendly welcome. We’d been fancying trying this place and so glad we did. Went for an early lunch, we were treat like friends and the lady serving us was so, so lovely. Best cocktail I’ve ever had, the English Country Garden, was my perfect drink. Food great, I had The Greek God (or Goddess 😉) it was amazing, fries lush with a really nice seasoning. The starters of olives and hummus were excellent! Couldn’t fault the place and was a perfect ‘date’ lunch as we had babysitters for a couple of hours. We will be back 💖 I’d love to see some a couple of extra veggie choices so we could come back for an evening meal xx

Amazing service. We were welcomed with a smile and genial conversation. The ambience was lively but not excessive, and our server, Hannah, kept us entertained and our glasses full the whole evening. The burgers were both excellent quality, with my own - a burger with pepperoni, bacon, chorizo and cheese - given a 'Dayum', because it was mind blowing. The desserts were sinfully good, a chocolate brownie and chocolate fudge cake. We are fairly picky when it comes to places to go to eat. 19Twenty is spot on. We will be back.

We visited Durham and saw this place in passing, after chatting to a few locals we decided to give it a go. It had a great atmosphere, chilled music that wasn’t over the top or too loud. We were served by Courtney and Erin, both servers were extremely attentive, friendly and a pleasure to be served by, I can say solely based off the pictures online we wouldn’t have gone, but the pictures themselves do not do the food justice! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic, served with a great range of cocktails, wines and beers I would definitely recommend this place to families, couples date nights and meet up with friends. The owner was extremely friendly too and also has a fabulous mixology bar down the road we were offered a free Prosecco each which was very kind of him!

Amazing experience, spent new years at this restaurant, everybody was closing for the night but manager/staff were so kind to cook something for us very last minute. Food was delicious, even served us shots on the house and celebrated new years.
