Great steakhouse close to the river in Durham City centre.Fab food .Great atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

First time me and my partner have been to Durham, if we ever do return we will make sure to come back here. The burgers were out of this world. So tasty with chips and mozzarella sticks. Service was top notch also. Definitely worth a visit

Waited 45 minutes for a bottle of wine we ordered when we arrived and starters came before drinks. Seemed OK with allergies and food was cooked very well, but just such a shame that they were so short staffed. We were upstairs, with really quiet music and you could go 20 minutes without seeing a waiter/waitress. Was a battle to get finished plates removed. Seemed much better atmosphere downstairs. Really disappointed with the service. To put the cherry on top, the manager left to go home before we did!

Very slow service, the order was taken wrong twice, and the cocktails were different each time served. Also playing rave music at one point which spoiled the atmosphere!

Thank you so much for hosting our large choir group and being so accommodating for our late arrival. Lovely dinner, fabulous service and great value. Recommend highly and would come back if next in Durham.

I can not say enough about this place. The manager was fantastic and kept the kitchen open as our large party was running late, having driven 6 hours for our weekend in Durham. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Even though they didn't have baby changing facilities, the manager found a quiet area for me to change my baby and could not have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend 19Twenty and if we lived close we would come again.

First visit to Durham and I must say that this was the best meal I have had in a loonnnggg time! I had the sea bass and my husband had the burger and it was all delicious. Good music, relaxing atmosphere - just perfect for our anniversary and very reasonably priced for the portion and the quality of food you get. I would come back to Durham just for this meal!! Great busy restaurant in the middle of Durham situated on the Old Elvert Bridge. Very friendly welcoming staff. Comfortable seating at intimate tables. They do cater to groups which are easily accommodated. Good varied menu as well as an interesting drinks list. Lovely ambiance for any occasion. A definite place to dine on our next visit.

What a find in Furham, lovely bar/restaurant by the river. Nice wine bar with good food. Upstairs seating with views. Great staff, especially Daniel who was front of house. All staff were great. Visited 2 nights running. Great food & good prices. Lovely atmosphere. Good for all groups of people. Will definitely visit again.

Called in here for a drink at lunchtime, saw other people’s food and decided to have a hanging kebab (shared as a light bite to eat). Really tasty and good service. Treated like we were regulars. Called back in for a drink in the evening, and evening staff were nice too. Thank you

Wow - we were so impressed! Beautiful decor and very friendly welcome. We’d been fancying trying this place and so glad we did. Went for an early lunch, we were treat like friends and the lady serving us was so, so lovely. Best cocktail I’ve ever had, the English Country Garden, was my perfect drink. Food great, I had The Greek God (or Goddess 😉) it was amazing, fries lush with a really nice seasoning. The starters of olives and hummus were excellent! Couldn’t fault the place and was a perfect ‘date’ lunch as we had babysitters for a couple of hours. We will be back 💖 I’d love to see some a couple of extra veggie choices so we could come back for an evening meal xx

Visiting from Edinburgh, food was exceptional, we kept talking about how good it was for hours. I’d recommend this place to anyone. Pretty reasonably priced too. 10/10

Amazing service. We were welcomed with a smile and genial conversation. The ambience was lively but not excessive, and our server, Hannah, kept us entertained and our glasses full the whole evening. The burgers were both excellent quality, with my own - a burger with pepperoni, bacon, chorizo and cheese - given a 'Dayum', because it was mind blowing. The desserts were sinfully good, a chocolate brownie and chocolate fudge cake. We are fairly picky when it comes to places to go to eat. 19Twenty is spot on. We will be back.

Beautiful sea bream with gratin dauphinois, absolute treat👌hubby had the flat iron steak which he said was cooked just the way he likes it. Lovely lasses serving us. I was a bit cold here tho.

We visited Durham and saw this place in passing, after chatting to a few locals we decided to give it a go. It had a great atmosphere, chilled music that wasn’t over the top or too loud. We were served by Courtney and Erin, both servers were extremely attentive, friendly and a pleasure to be served by, I can say solely based off the pictures online we wouldn’t have gone, but the pictures themselves do not do the food justice! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic, served with a great range of cocktails, wines and beers I would definitely recommend this place to families, couples date nights and meet up with friends. The owner was extremely friendly too and also has a fabulous mixology bar down the road we were offered a free Prosecco each which was very kind of him!

Amazing experience, spent new years at this restaurant, everybody was closing for the night but manager/staff were so kind to cook something for us very last minute. Food was delicious, even served us shots on the house and celebrated new years. My 2nd time here with my beloved partner Jade and our newborn, Alfié. Our waitress Hannah was an absolute star and so welcoming to us. I went to 19Twenty for a meal on my own and I could not possibly fault anything about it. I had an excellent Burger and Fries, a pint of Moretti and a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for a very reasonable price.it was perfect and completely exceeded my expectations. Finally, the service by Hannah especially was absolutely outstanding by being very accommodating and helpful at all times which perfectly met the atmosphere of the restaurant. I will definitely be coming back and letting everyone I know how great 19Twenty is for food and drinks.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming,it was nice and clean, we ordered our meals and it took hour and a half to get them. The hanging kebabs were very tasty everyone enjoyed their meals too.

We had lunch - it was my son’s 21st. The staff were so accommodating and the food was exceptional - I wish we had discovered this place before when visiting my son at Uni ! 10 out of 10

Popped here for drinks. Drinks were alright. Staff seemed pleasant enough. Left us to it and popped across when needed. People watching was tremendous as we were right by a window looking onto a busy street.

The restaurant was absolutely freezing - unbearable to sit and eat without wearing a coat. Food ok, service friendly, but the lack of care from the owner (sitting next to a radiator working on a laptop) was the main issue.

We always come here for the cocktails, excellent service and feel very specially looked after, very personal service. We always sit outside and the boss, when it's cold, provides a heater. We feel like VIPs 😀

Great food and atmosphere, service lacking. After finishing our meals, we asked for water for the table. The waitress said she'd bring it right over, and then proceeded to go into a corner and glaze over. We'd been planning to also ask for the dessert menu, but after ten minutes decided to just leave. Edit: Changing to one star as I've since learnt that later in the evenings the owner uses Elvet Bridge as their own free carpark. This is a beautiful, historic bridge, where parking is obviously banned.

We stopped in for lunch. We split a burger that was very good. Beer options were limited so he had gins.

The actual food and drink here is fine. However, the service is awful. We waited an hour and a half for our food and then not all the mains came until we reminded them of what the last one was, which then came 20 minutes later. Starters then arrived 20 minutes after the mains. We also weren't offered any additional drinks from our first order 2 hours earlier. We asked for the bill which didn't arrive for 20 minutes until we got our coats on and found them again. We asked for the service charge to be removed and were told we had to speak to a manager to do so.

Awesome food, loved the triple cooked chips and humus. Friendly staff and good view for people watching. Will return in the summer.

Nice restaurant in the center of Durham. Nice ambience and the service was very good. Food was top quality. I was impressed with this restaurant. Chicken Kebob was excellent and the Sea Bass was fresh and cooked to order. A fabulous meal!!!

Looking for a place for a late-ish lunch we opted for somewhere that didn't appear too crowded. Calamari starter was nice, but the burgers selected from the good range on the menu were a bit average. Chips were not piping hot.

Called in last weekend for a drink on Sunday afternoon. Its a good vantage point to people watch so ideal.on a cold autumn day. Have eaten here when it first opened and had a nice steak. When I went to pay the bill I was astonished to be charged 7.5 pounds for a pint of Moretti ! That's quite ridiculous even in this age. So won't be rushing back !

Had to give it one star as I never got in. I saw empty tables downstairs but was told by one of the hostess girl that she didn't think they had table or seat free upstairs or downstairs. She didn't check and actually suggested I go to Tin of Sardines instead which was exactly as the name implies. I won't be going here as I was treated like I I didn't deserve to be there. Dressed nicely and only needed a bar seat to have a glass of nice glass of wine while my son and grandad had tickets to Cathedral light show. This was on 14th October and I won't be going back.

Fabulous to sit outside and people watch. Staff are great and always accomodating. Owner is super friendly and can't do enough for the customers comfort. Yet to try the food but will do soon as it smells divine!

Came in once again for steak with my loved ones and cannot praise the service and food enough! My steak was cooked rare perfectly and the sides were to die for. The same can be said for both of my parents (one of which is a picky eater and was catered to wonderfully). Highly recommend and will be back again!!

Great evening with our steaks cooked to perfection. Our server Dan who later turned out he had cooked our steaks for us was extremely freindly along with the other ladies working that day. We will be back for next week.

Went here 3rd August for a 50th birthday celebration meal and honestly this place is amazing. It's the first time we've visited, but certainly won't be the last. There was 7 in our party, the restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night, but that didn't affect the quality of the service or the food. The starters all arrived at the same time, we had a mix of hot and cold between us, and everyone was pleased with their choices. Mains ranged from burgers, salmon and steak. I ordered the flat iron medium rare, and it's got to be the best steak I've ever had. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection and just melted in the mouth. The service from the waiting staff was exceptional, always clearing glasses and plates immediately after everyone had finished, always asking if anyone wanted another drink as soon as their glass was empty. I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough.

If gourmet burgers are your thing, you could do a lot worse than a visit to this centrally located restaurant. Starter, main & a drink will set you back about £25 a head, which is about right. We didn't need to book and would likely call again.

Was incredibly impressed by this little restaurant. My wife and I both had the 10oz signature steak and it was spot on. The chips tasted fantastic and even the salad had a lovely French dressing on it. Prices were very reasonable and the waiter was very attentive. Can't fault it and will definitely be visiting again the next time we're in the area.

The service was very slow waited about 15 minutes to order drinks and it wasn't that busy. While we were there 3 other couples left , obviously didn't want to wait like us . Won't be returning plenty of other places in the area , with better service.
