1881 Restaurant & Bar in South Lakeland

Stayed here and ate in the restaurant one evening. The service was very good, the portions very generous and the food of a very good standard.

Went for a couple of days firstly lift was out of order secondly wrong food delivered at dinner time third no rooms done on 2nd day

Este es el único restaurante que he comido que no tiene un menú de inicio. algunos de nuestros calamares todavía estaban medio congelados, pero los cocidos estaban deliciosos Nuestros platos principales y postres también eran excelentes

De vacaciones en Bowness, decidimos tener una comida en 1881, ya que era parte de la oferta de 2 por 1 a través de comparar las suricatas, envié un mensaje 3 días antes y me informaron que tendríamos un boom al menos 24 horas antes, llamamos a todos el sábado y el domingo no obtuve respuesta, volví a enviar un mensaje pero no contesté, así que en la mañana del día queríamos comer a dos de nuestro grupo que se acercó al hotel y reservó una mesa para las 6 pm, llegamos justo antes de las 6 y no pudimos No encontramos a nadie para sentarnos o servir bebidas, después de 10 minutos encontramos a una recepcionista para que nos dijeran que la cocina estaba cerrada, así que no hay comidas, la recepcionista dice que llamaron para cancelar a mi amigo, pero esto simplemente nunca sucedió, rechazamos la oferta de volver a reservar como el nivel de servicio y comunicación para un hotel de clase supuestamente alta fue impactante y no consideraría regresar, calificó el puntaje 1 como no tenía otra opción

We ordered Fish and chips to share as not massive appetites, which was no problem. They were plentiful and very tasty.

Delicious food,good choice on the menu, lovely staff. Great cosy atmosphere Nice decor. A very pleasant evening celebrating our anniversary

Stayed for two nights and enjoyed very good food and friendly service. Only one complaint is that they had run out of Cabernate Sauvinon, Merlot and Shiraz wine and made no attempt to get it in.

The food in this restaurant was very good. The lamb rump was excellent, & the steak was perfectly cooked & very nice. The self service breakfast was one of the best of this type we have had. Staff friendly

Friendly service with menu that has a nice selection recently refurbished and is bright and airy . food is good and reasonably priced

Lovely afternoon Tea with presecco sandwiches great choice of cakes and warm scones and coffee lovely setting in a refurbished hotel 🥂😀

Ate here on a Saturday night as two couples, starters between us were Stilton soufflé, not bad but tasted bought and not much lift to it, over coloured and would have been better served in its ramequin, smoked trout, which was fine but not enough for the price and Squid rings, very disappointing, tasteless, cold, tough, and a very thin batter. Mains were grilled trout with smashed potatoes etc with a beetroot and apple dressing, all ok but two very small half fillets, I luckily ordered two side of mixed greens, undercooked and not seasoning and roasted root vegetable, excellent. Fresh Salmon, minute and way overcooked, lamb Rump, too small a portion, well cooked but not very tasty nor seasoned. With a bottle of wine for £17, the bill came to £114 which was about £25 a head for a two course meal, which at first doesn't seem to bad, but we all left the table hungry and felt a bit cheated, we then had a snack in the local town as we didn't want to risk being further disappointed by the dessert menu. Our waitress was very polite an efficient though, but would still feel we could get more and better for our money elsewhere.

We are in the 1881 restaurant and bar and the menu was very good and very reasonably priced. On my next trip I will not hesitate and I will eat here
