1269 Restaurant at Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross in South Bucks

Drinks: We ordered 3 drinks in total, all cocktails. They were well presented and had reasonable flavour, they were however expensive in comparison to quality. They also took a long time to make, we had already been served and finished our starters before getting our first drinks. Starters: we had the Hand Picked Crab and the Ham Hock, again very well presented, unfortunatly the crab was tasteless and the bread dry, the pink grapefruit with garlic? oil on it was unusual and frankly not to my taste. Mains: We wanted to order the Beef Cahteaubriand, unfortunatly this wasn't available today and we're advised it wouldn't be tomorrow either, we went for the beef bourguignon instead. Again, the dish was well presented. Unfortunatly it was significantly over seasoned with salt, the single carrot was hard and the mash, although not smash, tasted like smash. The beef itself fell apart but was so oily and greasy that it costed your mouth. A large portion of food was left on both our plates despite being a small portion served. The server asked if we would like anything else, which we declined. Dessert: Sticky Toffee Pudding, nothing to write home about, a reasonable desert although it looked like it was probably out of a box as opposed to home made. Service: Polite but slow, noone checked on how we were doing during either the starter or the main so we didn't really bother complaining other than making a comment about the salt and oil, by the time we made this comment we were already damp (see below) frustrated and ready to leave so didn't prolong any further by ordering more mains. They did take notice of allergen requests and ensured this was adhered to. Environment: The bar felt a bit like a Weatherspoons, the dining area initially looked nice, however on being seated we were moved table by the server as he noticed that there was water leaking onto the table. The second table we were sat at subsequently had the same problem with drops coming through the roof and into our drinks and food. When the heavy downpour started outside the weather streamed down the light fitting and I ended up quite soddon. Overall: 1/5, presentation was nice but everything else was lacking, the final bill came to ~£130 for 3 drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains and a dessert. We are in the hotel for a second night and are looking at local restaurant options as we won't be eating at the hotel again. Weatherspoons quality, inner London price tags. Room 303 - 12/9/2024

We ate here because we were staying at the hotel and were booked in for half board. Some confusion over our food allowance, which was announced to us and the remaining people at the restaurant. This made it incredibly awkward for us, bringing down our moods and the lovely atmosphere became very uncomfortable. Food was tasty, but service and professionalism has gone down the drain. This was our 4th time at the restaurant but it would be fair to say I don’t think we’ll be returning.

I must say EMILIA WAS AMAZING. Her personality was contagious and positive. I would come back because of her and how she was so in tuned; checking up on us. She changed the dessert to a better option.

We thought we'd pop in for some late lunch whilst staying at the hotel. Having seen the reviews I thought it might be quite nice. Service was good, cocktails were amazing but the food was absolutely awful. Me and my partner ordered egg mayo sandwiches which are described as 'Egg, mayo, watercress and Fries' in the menu. We got dry bread with a generous lather of mayo, barely any egg and no watercress in sight. Were it not for the fact that I'm insulin dependent and had to eat something in that moment, I would've sent this back. Very much regretted not driving two mins down the road and grabbing a sandwich from M&S.

The food was of reasonable quality and the set menu was good value for a 4Star hotel. It included a glass of house wine which was probably 200 to 250 ml. Service was very friendly. The restaurant is rather bleak and not suitable for a romantic meal.

Absolutely loved it here am returning in January for a stay and meal highly recommend, the breakfast buffet wzs also fantastic staff were very friendly and attentive would just like to see a burger option on the kids menu, as my kids wanted a burger for dinner

An extensive breakfast and really great service, even given a tour of the breakfast buffet counters upon arrival! Great coffee and bread too and there are fresh juices and smoothies available. Only thing I'd say could be improved is the mushrooms should be sauteed maybe, as they were bland boiled/steamed mushrooms, and the bacon and pancakes were a bit underdone.

I never went to this place but Google thinks I should review it. How ridiculous!!!

A diverse menu, with some very tempting options. We had salmon mouse and chicken Pâté to start, both came out quickly and were very tasty. The fish and chips and seafood linguine was also very good. Great service too, and on Fridays they have live music from 7:30pm too. Would recommend.

Lovely experience, had lunch in Beaconsfield. Lovely decor, food and service. Very reasonable prices! The staff is also very attentive, quick service. Our compliments to George, who has excellent skills and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. He made sure that our food was on point and that the service is excellent. Thank you! Highly recommend!

The food, just simple dishes, is awful. Made the mistake of eating here twice ....big mistake. I doubt there is a single competent cook in the kitchen. Absolutely dreadful The floor staff do their best but there's not enough of them. It's not their fault. Expensive and attricious.

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea at this restaurant. Reach, filling dishes all made from/with high quality ingredients/items. Generous size portions. Nice decor. Spot on cleanliness. Excellent customer service.

I had high hopes as it was the 1st family outing since lockdown and my first time there (my family are locals and have been eating there regularly years). My brother always spoke very highly of this place since he discovered it. Most staff was very sweet and polite but the kitchen absolutely ruined our evening. 6 steaks took 50 minutes to be served and 2 arrived cold (1 sent back). Granted, they discounted the bill substantially but this was ridiculous for a restaurant that was not even half full. Being told that "mains are always served 30 minutes after a starter" was equally hilarious and insulting specially as I trained in hotel management in Switzerland and I doubt anything so drastic has happened in these 30 years. I suppose this kind of misinformed excuse (hot air) usually works in these kinds of places though. Being told by the manager that "this is the first time I'm seeing you here" felt as if he was calling my brother a liar for claiming to be a regular. I suggest someone has a word the kitchen staff as this kind of service can lead to nothing but bad reviews. (See the one below as an example with a similar problem as we faced). Good points was the flavour and front of house service. Will definitely give them a 2nd chance but probably not any time soon so the kitchen staff have enough time to get their act together. Beware of crooked cutlery and watery sauces.

Food was okay, not a huge variety. Gnocchi wasn't great but the mac&cheese was amazing! Service was amazing :)

Came here with a groupon to have sparkling afternoon tea. You get one of these per person and unlimited tea/coffee! Very nice atmosphere and I would definitely come back

Had dinner with work colleagues on Thursday night. The squid is really tasty but I was blown away by the amazing Rump steak I ate. Really tasty. Service was excellent both in the restaurant and the bar.

Really nice continental breakfast spread but didn’t expect any less at a Crown Plaza hotel. However was a little gutted of a few things usually at Crown Plaza hotel breakfast like smoothies, salmon and muffins but overall good. The staff were excellent and treated us very well !! Especially the restaurant manager Mohan, super friendly and welcoming.

2 fillet steaks were ordered at £32 each, one rare, one medium rare. Quite a while later the steaks arrived and were put on the table in no particular order. Both were well done. We complained, and another 30 mins later they arrived again, still overcooked, without the sauces we ordered and minus the chips. The beer I had also ordered never arrived and the complimentary bottle of wine with the meal still hadn't either. Dissapointing service. Was only offered 20 percent off the meal and it felt like an insult as I had taken my girlfriend there as a treat and recieved harvester standard food. The couple next to us also waited a long time for their food to arrive and were not happy with the service

Service was ok but food wasn't up to scratch. The steak was average, a good weatherspoons level, risotto was atrocious - tasted like jambulaya made badly.

Great place for a modern grill experience!
