Such a gorgeous a place and gorgeous food :) love coming here to eat. Atmosphere is relaxed yet sophisticated. Always a pleasurable dining experience :)

Visited here for breakfast on a thursday morning. Went pretty simple with the Egg's Benedict and it was really nice. I'm not a fan of Hollandaise sauce so got it without. Muffin could've been crispier but the bacon was well cooked and the poached eggs nice. Ily coffee was also nice. Service was friendly.

Our go to for special occasion breakfasts. There’s something for everyone, reasonably priced, and really tasty. Our food came quickly and the staff were really friendly too. The scrambled eggs that came with my little girls breakfast were incredible.. totally recommend that. As well as the eggs Benedict!

We went for a breakfast treat which we would not normally do. we ordered two full english breafasts and cup of tea. Everything was stone cold and when complained about nothing was done. had to ask time and time again for condiments due to the fact that there was no tomato sauce butter salt milk or sugar and when asked for only got two packets of butter for 4 slices of toast and only two small sachets of ketchup for two people. nobody came over and asked how our meal was, very poor service and very disappointing will not be returning espicially for the price it was.

I booked a table for 3 people to have afternoon tea at 12 Harland Place , then changed this to 4 people, two days before our booking. (I received two emails confirming the booking and the change). I’m a big fan of afternoon tea and like to have it as a treat occasionally. I’ve had it in many different hotels and restaurants with friends so do have a fair scope for comparison. On this occasion I was taking my husband and two teenagers who had not had afternoon tea before, but as I’d enjoyed it at Harland Place twice before, I was confident they would enjoy it as much as I do. Unfortunately their first afternoon tea was a let down and the most disappointing I’ve ever had. After waiting 5 minutes at the door upon arrival, we were met by a lady in her 50’s who was neither welcoming nor friendly and after giving my name for the booking, were asked how many people we had booked for. I explained it was originally 3 but I’d changed it to 4 and she went off to check something. She came back and asked if I had called about the amendment, as there was a problem with the number of people on the booking, so I showed her my two emails confirming the change. Given that we were stood right next to a family eating, it felt uncomfortable and awkward to be stood there so long. After being seated, I felt that perhaps this could have been discussed at the table as there were four or five empty tables for 4 around us. It certainly could have been handled more tactfully than it was. Not the best start. The young man who served us our food was friendlier but we realised after he left that he hadn’t given us any cutlery. When we asked the same lady who greeted us on arrival, for some, she came to check our table before going to get it. I found this a little insulting as this was presumably to check that all four of us weren’t sat staring at them on the table?? All afternoon tea’s I’ve had previously have been served on a three tier cake stand or some other creative way of presenting the food, so to have the sandwiches and scones on plates and slate was a little disappointing. Only the cakes were on a cake stand. The sandwiches were cheese and pickle, ham, and egg mayonnaise. All of which were on white bread. They were nice but rather simple, unimaginative sandwiches and fillings. Something that could be easily made at home. The fruit scones were bland - we were not given cheese scones, nor were we given an option to have cheese or fruit - and the cream was whipped and not clotted, as is traditionally served with afternoon tea. The jam and cream were served in tea cups though, which was a nice touch. The cakes were; cornflake cake (this was OK, though my daughter was unimpressed and didn’t finish it) - cheesecake - ( again, ok, but fell apart when you removed it as it wasn’t set properly) and victoria sponge cake (which was delicious). Whilst eating our afternoon tea I noticed that another family were asked where they wanted to sit, as they were brought to be seated. This wasn’t something we were asked, which is a shame as I think the children would have liked to have sat in a booth rather than the table we were seated at. Overall our ‘treat’ was really disappointing. I can never understand why people who aren’t genuinely friendly, or unable to fake it at least, work in the service industry? A customer may be your 20th customer of the day, but you don’t know that their visit isn’t the family/couple/friends’ only time of eating out in 12 months, as a special treat. The only saving grace was that we had eaten out during the government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, and so thankfully we did not have to pay full price for such a disappointing meal and experience. Don't think I'll be returning.

I visited on the14th August 2020 at 12.30pm for afternoon tea and I just wanted to say thank you for such lovely service received. Hannah was amazing and very attentive. There was also a gentlemen who's name I didn't get but he was very polite and his customer service skills excelled. The afternoon tea was to die for, absolutely beautiful and all special requests were catered for. Honestly I couldn't thank you enough it was beautiful.

My friend and I attempted to go for coffee and cake. She had rung twice and left a message asking for a table at 3pm. She messaged me at 10am to say meet at 3pm unless she heard otherwise. We arrived at 3pm, waited 10 mins while no staff were to be seen. When a staff member arrived, she was rude and dismissive, there was no booking for us and they were too busy to answer the phone and check messages. We left and won't be back,not because they hadn't let us know there was no space for us, but because of the manners and attitude of the member of staff.

Don’t know where to start... We booked a table as a catch up with my friend for lunch with my 7 month old son. On arrival we where placed on a tiny table with a high chair between ourselves and another table no social distancing considered. I asked the waitress to be moved to another table as I didn’t feel comfortable and the pram was in the middle of the restaurant. She went away to check and 5 minutes later after been made to wait in the restaurant with my son we where moved to a corner table. Once moved we then waited 20 mins for our drink and food order to be taken. The restaurant was busy but not manic it’s just seemed like no organisation had been put in place for service. The food itself was lovely but nothing amazing in all honesty. Whilst waiting for our desert I moved the high chair to the window out the way and moved the pram for my son to have a nap to this I was pounced on by an older lady with brown hair in her late 40s to ask me “What exactly was I doing” when I told her she just ignored me and walked away. On leaving I popped wipes and banana that my son had been eating in a bag and placed to one side as I didn’t want the staff to have to pick it up a half eaten banana. Once left the restaurant I was chased by the lady in her late 40s to why I had left a nappy on the table!!! I explained what it was and received a tut and scowl and again ignored. I have been to 12 Harland Place many times and after this experience as a new mam already anxious taking my son out to be treated and made to feel as I was I will never return again. Disgraceful service, no regard for customers whatsoever!

Food very good but very expensive also restaurant became very hot and uncomfortable. Dessert was very expensive £2 for a small scoop of ice cream and £1 for a thimble sized mayonnaise pot Staff very nice but £53 for a parmo and cheese cake 3 small cokes and a 300ml budwisser.

My wife and I had been looking forward to getting back to HP after lockdown and it didn’t disappoint. The setting and atmosphere itself is nearly as good as the food and the staff cannot do enough for you. We even brought along our small dog as you’re allowed to eat at the front table if you book in advance and notify them.

owner was not keen to accomodate, possibly because i was using a gift voucher. waited almost 40 minutes for tea, everything was lovely apart from scone which i couldnt cut.had to put cakes in a box with my hands as there was no cutlery to use. No serviettes didnt appreciate owners attitude

Harland Place has gained an envious repuation for great food, and most of all its unique classy decor, well recommended.

Friends have told us how good this place is for coffee and cake and I was spending a voucher they gave us for a birthday gift. We had looked forward to going but unfortunately we were massively disappointed. The waitress was quick to come and ask what we would like to drink. As my husband was driving he initially asked for a coke but at £3+ for 330mls he went for orange squash instead. I had a glass of wine but the medium size I asked for came as a small. We were only charged for a small though at just over £5 We ordered 2 Parmos and they were ok but compared to other restaurants locally they were small portions. The chips were stated as chunky chips on the menu but were very scrappy. At £12.95 each we had expected better. The waitress asked if everything was ok with our meal and when we said we were disappointed and explained she seemed shocked. She did not apologise though nor say she was sorry to hear that then did not offer the dessert menu or ask if we wanted any more drinks. We then had to get another colleague to get us the bills (Whilst the dining area appears quirky the chairs have to be the most uncomfortable furniture that I have ever sat on in a restaurant) Our table was close to the door to the kitchen and during our meal one of the staff went in and out on 3 occasions with black bags of rubbish. Whilst I appreciate rubbish has to be dealt with there must be a better way to do this so staff aren’t passing so close to diners. Sadly I would not be able to recommend this restaurant .

Very disappointing experience. Latte coffee stone cold so it was reheated, sorted whilst I placed food order at bar (staff seemed too busy). I was told no problem to have normal chips instead of fries with ciabatta sandwich but then had £1 added to bill for a measly amount (sandwich already expensive). Other 4 in group had Afternoon tea @ £15.99 (licence to print money). Assortment of 3 (as we understand it bought in cakes) including cornflake cake, a scone, 2 hotel breakfast size jams and small pot of cream to share, no butter and one pot of tea which wasn’t even replenished, we had to ask for it to be topped up with hot water. I queried the £1 but it stayed on the bill. So we received little more than cafe fare (cuppa/sandwich/cake/scone) for eeeek £75.05!!! What’s more is I’d had to make a separate trip to pay a deposit for this (and then this hadn’t been taken off the bill). Very very disappointed, didn’t leave a tip

Went for evening meal.Food was good, the service let it down, very slow and unorganized. Apparently due to been short staffed. Have been for breakfast on other occaissions couldn't fault service or food. Not sure would go back for food on an evening.

Went tonight for a Christmas meal with a couple of friends, a chance to catch up and enjoy the festive season. The restaurant is lovely and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. However the service was pretty abysmal and it ruined the night. Everyone who served us was lovely enough, but it was the lack of service that was the issue. After been shown to our table, we were given one menu to share as they didn't have enough. We sat for 20 minutes with no one coking over to ask if we wanted a drink. Eventually we asked if we could order drinks, there was no apology and someone came over and took our drinks and food order. The food came no issues. Then we sat and sat and sat and no one came back over. No one asked if we wanted any more drinks or if we wanted dessert. We kept looking around to see if we could get someone's attention to get the bill with no luck. It was only when we stood up and put on our coats, that someone shouted over from the staircase if we were OK and I was then able to ask if we could have the bill so that we could leave. I was really disappointed, as I said the food was delicious, the gin was great, the atmosphere was just right, but the service was just so bad that it has completely put me off visiting again

Myself and a group of friends had afternoon tea here on the 30th of Nov for my 30th birthday. I picked here as I have been for the afternoon tea before (granted a year or so ago) and it was amazing. However, on the occassion it was terrible. The sandwiches were stale, we had to send them back and ask for fresh. And the amount of sandwiches provided was poor. I think we got two or three tiny sandwiches each. The fillings of the sandwiches were also really bland (ham, cheese and egg) The cake selection was also poor. The cakes were like something you would get at a school dinner which is such a shame as the fresh cake selection at the front of the restaurant looks amazing, however, these were not what were provided, instead it was cheap tray bake style cakes with no flavour and mince pies (none of us liked mince pies so they didn't get touched). When I have previously had afternoon tea here, the sandwiches were delicious with lots of different fillings and lots of sandwiches and the cakes were from the counter and really impressive. It just seemed like a much cheaper version of what we previously had but for the same price?The service was also terrible. We were totally ignored and had to hound down staff for drinks. And even then when we got the attention of a waitress she would listen to one drink order and run off instead of taking the full tables order. We would understand if the staffing seemed short and the restaurant was really busy but neither of these appeared to be the case? We ordered 2 or 3 cocktails in total, they took so long to come, atleast 20 mins each. And they were poorly presented, no garnishes or anything (looked like glasses of juice) which considering the price of them was not good enough. It's such a shame because over the years I have been here a lot and would have highly recommended it..But now, it just seems like everything has gone down in quality - food, drinks and services yet the prices are the same? So it seems totally over priced and terrible value for money for what you get. Such a shame 12 Harland Place, I definately won't be back.

Had a fantastic evening upstairs, lovely food and very helpful staff. The service delivered by Sophia was outstanding, she worked hard all evening and provided exceptional service.

The place itself is just beautiful and the staff are so friendly! The owner is so helpful and can’t do enough to help. It has a lovely homely feel can’t wait to visit again over Christmas 🎄💕🎉🥂🎁

Attended Spudding Club tonight with friends for a friends birthday gift! What a wonderful evening it was. Excellent food and service! Great idea to have 4 starters and then 4 desserts to try and then judge out of 10 and add your comments! It felt like I was part of Master chef. Brilliant idea and would definitely recommend! Well done to all staff. X

Three of us met up after 17 years apart. Went to Harland on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy but there were seats available so not at maximum capacity. Food wasn’t the best. Edible but didn’t taste fresh. Salad tasted more like yesterday and the freshness of the steak in the steak and halloumi wrap was questionable.

My auntie had booked afternoon tea for my 30th birthday as a present. There were 4 adults and a child. When she booked and paid a deposit she requested a booth the lady on the phone said that is fine it's all booked in. When we arrived we were told there wasn't a table ready and we're asked to be seated to the sofa area. This was fine as we thought our booth would be getting sorted. A few minutes later our table was sorted only to be sat at a normal table a couple of tables away from the door which was not what we requested. I was going to say something but other people were sat in booths and had just received food which meant we would of probably had to wait about half an hour for a booth. I just feel when your booked in and have paid a deposit for afternoon tea and you know your going to spend the full afternoon there you want to feel cosy and comfy especially when we spent a lot of money on the afternoon. Over all the staff were friendly and helpful their were great with my little girl and I couldn't of asked for better service. The afternoon tea was lovely and the cakes were gorgeous very well presented. Although the child's afternoon tea could be a little more child friendly could do done with a slice of pizza or some child sort of desert instead of the same cakes we got with the adults. Even though she fully enjoyed I just felt a bit of colour needed to be added to make it more child friendly.

Don't book this restaurant for any group bookings as they don't honour it (even though deposits taken) if they get a larger party booking in.

I visit this place quite often as it is on my door step. The decor is fabulous and the wines are lovely. Unfortunately the service can be poor and the food is limited and only of average standard. I find the service depends on who is working. There is clearly some good senior staff but also, unfortunately some inexperienced staff who lack basic knowledge. It is still worth a visit if you’re in Norton. It has a nice atmosphere and decent drinks.

As you walk in the place looks and feels great. The cakes at the counter looked amazing. We went through the back to the restaurant area, not quite as atmospheric but ok. The black pudding starters were fabulous the best black pudding we had ever had. The halloumi fries were nice. We all had Parmo’s which were good but nothing special. Drinks a little expensive but not too bad, mocktails £4:95 was too steep for a soft drink. Staff were good. Overall it was a very good meal and I will go back.

We eat here a few times a year and we have never had anything but truly gorgeous food here. This time we were amazed to discover a new addition to the menu, only a PARMO IN A BURGER!!! The Teesside parmo is not really to be played about with but The chefs here have nailed it, it was flipping divine and both my wife and I agreed that it was up there, if not THE best Chicken Parmesan we have ever eaten, and we’ve had a few in our time.

Booked a table on line for 3 on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived we were seated and given a very limited menu, we were then told that the kitchen was shut and we would have to wait till 4 till order from the menu or we could have Coffee and cake not what we expected and no mention of this when we booked so we left and went elsewhere.

My husband and I took my daughter out for dinner. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who genuinely seemed happy to be at work!? Staff very friendly, which is weird as the reviews I've seen have said the opposite, maybe there's been a change in management?

Hi myself and a colleague were on a visit to another business in the Stockton area and were asked if we round like to pop out for some lunch before setting of on our return journey.

My wife and I popped into harland place on Saturday and were lucky enough to get a table as we hadn’t pre booked. The place was busy but not too busy, and we were seated right away. I had a coffee, which was great, and ordered from a menu that was new to me since my last visit a few months back.

We've been to 12 Harland Place a few times and have enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and drinks. A visit for brunch at the weekend however was beyond disappointing. Food on both dishes was inedible - soggy, uncooked, French toast and rock hard muffin with split hollandaise on the eggs Benedict. When asked at the till if we had enjoyed our meals, we said that the food was terrible. The server told that us that our comments would be passed on to the chef - and charged us for the meals we had left uneaten. We won't be back.

Went in Saturday afternoon, asked for a table but it seemed to much bother for the staff, the place was virtually empty maybe 5 tables with people on. They eventually sat us down and gave us menus. Then 3 staff stood around the diary talking. After 15 minutes and not even a drinks order took we got up to leave and will never go back.

Food was decent but service was very poor. Shouldn't be too difficult to get breakfasts out together - if half of us had waited, the rest would have been cold. Really disappointing. Gave it this second chance after my first disappointing visit a year or so ago but wouldn't go back a third time.

Private dinner in upstairs room, very hot atmosphere just two small fans and no window. Stairs are very steep, luckily toilets and terrace on same level. Our meal was very good some of the other guests not so lucky. Burnt offerings, one missing starter, another no main course, only saw staff when delivering or clearing table. Desserts were chosen when pre-ordering meal but none were served or offered. Need to pull up their socks up lots of other eateries and wine bars opening up in the area. The terrace gave us respite from stifling heat in room. Need some sort of air conditioning in there.

This was our first meal out for 16 years I've had nothing but good reports about it

I have visited Harland Place on a number of occasions and is my go-to place when friends come to stay. There is a good selection of wines, gins and beers and the food is also really good too. In the summer the sun terrace is a great place to relax in the sunshine. Keep up the good work!

The early bird tea time menu whllst small, is excellent value and the food was delicious. Well recommended and we had no need to book even though it was a Saturday.

I’ll start by saying I do love the food here and I frequent Harland Place on average about once a month, however, the Service is at a point now where I won’t bother going back.

Nice place reasonable prices. Good choice on the menu. Food ok. Close to Norton so shops and bus routes easy. All in all would go back again.

Called in Saturday 10th, mid day, fairly empty, which surprised me. Stood waiting to be seated, three members of staff, one behind sweet counter, one at bar and one at till ignored us, man behind bar walked away, I was just about to leave when he came back and showed us to our seats. While waiting to be seated I noticed how tired and shabby the place looked, and not in a chic way, once seated looked like it needed a good clean. Saving grace was the coffees were piping hot and delicious and the small breakfasts were mountainous and really good quality, food and drink saved the day, but staff, customer service, and venue, furnishing and cleaning need an overhaul, too many other places now in Norton to visit, Sorry Harland Place but you have lost your top spot in Norton.

Decided to give Harland Place another go after having been so disappointed on previous occasions,but unfortunately nothing has changed for the better.The service is nothing short of dire,our orders once again forgotten,and after reminders finally appeared,but the drinks order not what we had wanted,however we were past caring at this point as we were on the verge of walking out.On the last 3 visits some aspect of the order was wrong,cold coffee,no sides,wrong drinks,and the list goes on.There are too many dining choices in Norton now snapping at the heels of Harland Place for it to afford to slide in this way and imagine they are good enough in a discerning market place.

Visited mid July with friends. We found the menu significantly reduced, only a few pasta / pizza options but maybe focus is better. The food was average all round. The service was slow, we waited ages for everything. The issue that would stop me going back was desserts. We all got deserts and we were simply asked “cream or ice cream?”. We assumed it was part of the dessert and made our choices. When the bill arrived we were all charged £1 extra for the cream making a dessert nearly £7. Apparently this was obvious on the chalkboard but none of us can recall seeing it all. Regardless, it wasn’t explained when asked “cream or ice cream?”. It was asked as if it was a choice not an added extra and I’ve noticed other reviews comment on this or issues with overcharging.

Went for lunch 3 weeks ago, service very poor...food average...apologies apologies but why when place is only half full. Tried again today, Friday, 2 o clock, place less than half full.....took half an hour to get a coffee....apologies again, knocked coffee off bill.....food late...average food. Won't bother in future. Shame really as it's local to us but plenty of others in Norton.

Overall appearance not great with all the mismatched chairs. Service quite slow (it wasn't busy). Food very average, not particularly tasty. We expected a more varied 'restauranty' menu, it's mainly burgers, wraps, pizza. Staff friendly.

Decided to stop for tea & cake today. As we sat down we were immediately asked what we would like without even a chance of looking at menu. We then waited 20 mins for the lady to come back and take order despite asking if someone would take our order. When someone finally took our order we waited another 10 mins for the cakes and it took another 10 mins after that for the tea which by this time we had almost finished the cakes. At the time of ordering we'd also ordered a diet coke, which had been forgotten about despite us asking twice for diet coke.

I complained of poor service here many years ago, but it was a welcome surprise to go back last week and find that the food, as before, was excellent, and the service was now also excellent, prompt and professional. A very enjoyable experience.

Due to the nice weather, my partner and i decided to have a drink round the village.

Only called in for cake and coffee. Great choice of cakes that both look and taste great. Efficient service. Looked at main menu for a return visit and whilst there were some interesting dishes, pricing did seem rather top end for style and ambience of place.

My Wife and I recently had our wedding reception here. It was a small intimate occasion. We were most impressed by the staff being both efficient and attentive. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend calling in if for nothing else but to try the fab cakes.

Our experience on Saturday afternoon was very disappointing and very over priced. We ordered a tea & a coffee and a Harland Club sandwich then waited 40 minutes for the sandwich to be served, by which time we had finished our tea & coffee. We then ordered a piece of cheese cake each which was extremely overpriced @£5.95 We were asked if we wanted cream or ice cream with the cake. One of the pieces of cake tasted as though it was just going sour so I discretely took it to the counter to tell the waitress who offered a replacement of another cake. I waited so long that I returned to the counter to cancel the replacement. When I settled the bill I noticed that the ice cream/cream was an additional £1 on top of the exorbitant £5.95 for each cake. I questioned this but was told that this was stated on the blackboard. I pointed out that I ordered from the cake display and not the blackboard and it was not mentioned there. What was meant to be a pleasant afternoon turned out to be an expensive disappointment. Separately please be aware that the step at the front entrance door is narrow & wobbly.

Had a great dinner and there was a lovely atmosphere here in 12 Harland place. Mother and I felt right at home and even though we had not booked we arrived at 9pm to get a table and enjoyed the good music good cocktails and really good time.

Chicken was greasy and the atmosphere was like a school canteen. It was pretty expensive for what you got. I hear others like it at lunch time but we were disappointed when we went for dinner.

I have eaten here once before on an evening and was pleased with the meal. Dropped in on off chance to have a treat lunch. One Halloumi Burger which was nice, Fish and Chips which was very nice great light batter and lovely chips, and wild mushroom and Stilton tagliatelle which was disappointing. Picked the mushrooms out and left the rest seemed to be a lot of olive oil. Did mention when asked if everything okay and can get something else but would have taking too long so left it.

We were late, it should have been brekkie, but they serve till 12 and past for brunch too, which is very civilised.

Food was very poor two fresh scones 18 were rock hard sandwiches very basic no butter on bread no savoury’s ,only thing that was nice was the carrot cake ,nothing at like the picture only one up of tea or coffee very disappointing very poor service

My daughter booked us in for afternoon tea. We had a lovely time as my granddaughter was with us too. Everything was simply perfect 👌🏼

Wife and I had not eaten here for a few weeks, very pleased to see a new menu just released. We both had the sardines to start followed by the duck for myself and the chicken for my wife, all from the specials. The food was nothing short of superb. I was wary of the sardines as usually disappointed when I have them in the UK, always seem to fall well short of those served in Portugal ,but not this time.

This is one of our favourite places in Norton. However this evening the service was awful. Staff skills poor, lack of care about taking orders, tables left uncleared for long period of time. Staff seem very unhappy and not bothered about customers . Such a shame as the food as ever was very good.

Met with friends today. I had my 10 y/o bit with me and friend had her granddaughter with her who has an egg allergy. Seated at table which was dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Asked if allergy could be catered for and waitress not in the slightest bit helpful or interested. Asked if she could have pizza ( ordering at 11.30) and told not possible as all dough is frozen and wasn’t defrosted yet... she then got drinks order wrong. Long wait for correct drink to arrive, and only after enquiring. Food was ok, and when bill was requested, waitress didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge request which was just odd. We all agreed we doubted we would go back after this experience.

I have to start by saying I do love this place. The cake section is perfection, and so is the food. However only let down is service can be slow

Thank you - we visited for a family birthday meal having been badly let down by a nearby restaurant. They were welcoming, staff were first class and the food was terrific. The earlier disappoinment from nearby restaurant turned out to be a great move in the end. Service was great, food was especially good and the ambience was relaxing and pleasant. Would absolutely recommend Harland Place and looking forward to returning soon.

I visited 12 Harland place on a recent visit to the north east and found the food to be of an exceptional standard . It was beautifully presented with portions that were extremely large . The service was very good and the young waitress very attentive. The desserts were scrummy and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this restaurant to any other professional buisiness folks as well as friends . Well worth the trip . I will be back

We had amazing food, staff were fantastic and the desserts were to die for! I highly recommend Harland Place for families, couples or parties.... we will be back soon ❤️

Third visit to 12 Harland place , Sunday dinner Mother’s Day experience utterly fantastic . Some restaurants pass off bisto gravy , boiled over cooked veg , oily roasties and try to charge a top end price . However , this was the complete opposite couldn’t fault any aspect . Pink beef (sirloin ?) lovely small carrots , flavoursome broccoli , roasties packed so full of flavour I asked for another bowl . The Yorkshire’s ...... massive . Finally the gravy was something else , I’ve never experienced such a rich powerful taste . Haven’t had a bad experience yet !

Visited Friday for lunch with my husband as we go there fairly regularly as I love their eggs benedict and coffee but on this occasion it was more than terrible the eggs where edible but the bacon was like chewing hard rubber the muffin was stale and the hollandaise sauce well wasn’t hollandaise sauce at all it was like butter and melted cheese, the other halves omelette was more like scrambled egg too .... very disappointed.... service level was awful too as part eaten plates stayed in our table for 25 minutes after the meal and not a soul asked why we had left the majority of the food .....☹️

Went for coffee and cake. Did not dissapoint. Great selection of delicious cakes in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Booked a table at Harland place for a lovely lunch with 5 friends today (Sunday 24th) after reading previous reviews about the breakfast and lunch menu , we all decided to try different items from the menu and were not disappointed, after reading the excellent review recently from the local teeside foodie report I decided to opt for the smashed avacardo with crispy bacon , AMAZING, others had omelette, eggs benidict, full English and the chicken pasta dish , and both the flavours and presentation where second to none . Service a little slow but quite attentive from the young waitress . We managed to leave with a cake takeaway for a little treat on the way out . Keep up the good work lovely cosy friendly restaurant, will be back soon .

Group of us celebrating a birthday, all ordered different starters and mains. Overall we had a nice time, food was good in the main but two of us had the mushroom risotto and it was overly cloying with not many mushrooms to be fair and both of us left half of our meal. Hits were the sirloin and rump. Just ok.

Fancied a decent lunch and so came here as reviews were generally quite positive.

Popped in yesterday for the first time on a recommendation from a family member.

Visited on Saturday with my partner . First time we have ventured to norton for a meal out ! Ambience in the restaurant was superb and food delicious . My lamb was cooked to perfection and the scallops starter was out of this world !

Visited today after reading glowing reviews & recommendations from friends & it lived up to expectations! Popped in with my finance and we had the burger, french toast and cake takeaway, everything was amazing and we’ll definitely be coming back!

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve visited 12 Harland Place, I’ve loved it every time. I’m a huge fan of the No. 12 Beef Burger and always ask for blue cheese, which they’re always happy to accommodate, it has to be my favourite burger in the North East. I’ve also had a few different Pizza’s which were lovely. They have a nice selection of wines too.

Came here for a girly catch up, liked the diversity of the menu which was able to please everyone. Staff very attentive, food delicious and price average for the type of food. Really enjoyed the meal, would come again

Went today for Sunday dinner, or what was meant to be Sunday dinner as it says it is served12-4 on the website and when sat we were given brunch menus and when I asked a member of stuff if they had a Sunday dinner menu I was notified that they don’t do it even though I’ve had it there many of times. We left and ended up buying food to make our own dinner. Very disappointed and poorly noticed that they no longer serve Sunday dinners.

Very expensive for what can only be described as "average cake". Theres no price displayed anywhere for the cake, had i of known i would of went elsewhere.

Visited here on new years eve with my partner for a meal. We both ordered steaks and they were delicious but when asking the waitress if they did onion rings like they did last time she informed us they no longer did it on the menu. I was a little disappointed by this as they were amazing last time I visited but will still be back as food is always lovely everytime we visit.

Booked parmo pop up night as we love a good parmo and all visits to this place have been great.

We called in for coffee and cheesecake and were not disappointed - superb service, pleasant staff and cheesecake of dreams!!! We will definitely be back!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️

Completely stunned how nice this was. If i am honest i was talked into going in for food and i was so happy i was. I had vegetable soup to start and it was gorgeous taste wise and appearance. Perfect blend as well. She had the mussels and also said they were cooked to perfection and couldnt believe how many she got. For my main i had a burger topped with crispy bacon and crispy onions. Again it was cooked perfect. Nice and juicy with plenty of flavour and presented really well. My only regret is not taking any pics so well done 12 harland place. Not the best place to order drinks but that was only because the staff were so busy. So full stars and we will deffo be going back.

Few friends popped in today for a get together , lovely quirky little place , stunning decor and great atmosphere. Staff lovely and can’t do enough . Lovey cocktails while waiting for the food to arrive , salmon dish was amazing , partner had the pie and our company had a steak and looked amazing smothered in that pepper sauce . This is now our number one eatery and will tell all our friends , certainly is the best little find in the whole of teeside , wel be back for breakfast tomorrow . Thank you

Ordered a sirloin medium-rare as it's meant to be. Upon its arrival however, it unfortunately appeared to have been cooked in a tumble dryer by goblins.

Lovely 3 course meal for work, nicely timed so you're not rushed between courses. Would recommend, lovely attentive staff.

Would have given a five for this bit for four minor things firstly the there was no drinks on draught available secondly the guy poured my wine spilt it let me mop it up then didn't even replace my serviette and lastly we felt rushed into ordering then at the end of our meal I ordered a Tia Maria coffee which was Luke warm and was told this was because of the cream on top ,I don't think so ! Now for the good stuff lovely place nice and airy with good space between tables great food helpful polite staff scallops and black pudding starter was amazing I so wanted to give five stars I'm sure they can iron out the creases and be better than great definitely a favourite place to eat

Amazing little bistro / trendy cafe , food out of this world I had the new salmon dish OMG was the best tastiest fish I’ve eaten , partner had the pie and was also amazing individually made and stunning sauce . The food has certainly made its mark on a few people in there lately after listening to all the good comments . Amazing work and will be back with lots of friends .

My friend and I popped into 12 Harland place for a catch up the Turkish delight cake was to die for you can tell it’s all homemade will definitely be coming back next month

Me and the wife had a rare day off together so we had a shopping trip and fancied a cake and coffee and instantly thaught of harland, I must say the cakes do not look as good as they did a few months ago on our last trip, the display was half empty. We both had a red velvet cake which was ok, but hearing the staff talk about baught in cakes and macaroons made me wonder if any of it is home made, if I want a very average and warm coffee and a baught in cake I'll do it myself at home for a fraction of the price, will not visit again, sorry harland you need to step it up.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat when coming for a meeting in Billingham. We saw this restaurant from the road and it looked intriguing.

My friend and I visited here today for a early evening meal. The place was busy when we arrived and staff showed us to a table. All staff that served us from drinks to ordering our meal to paying our bill where friendly, amicable and really helpful.

We went to Harland Place for a prosecco afternoon tea and certainly weren't disappointed. The sandwiches were lovely and varied and the portions generous. The cream scones were perfect and the cakes delicious! You do need to book if you want afternoon tea, but I highly recommend it.

Had a lovely afternoon tea treat from my daughter - with sandwiches, scones & Cream, eton mess and muffins and as much tea/coffee as required. Too much really for one sitting but highly delicious. Price was expensive at £15pp so will not be an everyday occurrence but as a special treat or occasion highly recommended.

Went for breakfast with my daughter. Food was excellent as always. Will definitely be going again. We both had the breakfast bun 👌🏼

Two of our party are vegan so this is why they chose this restaurant close to work . I ordered garlic king prawns for a starter it was really tasty the vegan starter was a sharing board the girls said it was amazing.

Came here for a 50th birthday party and hired the room upstairs. You can also hire the outside terrace as an exclusive but it’s an extra £120 and we didn’t bother. Room was nicely decorated but a bit warm with no air moving through. We had pre ordered food to save time as there were 14 of us including seven kids.

I'd already eaten so chose this place so my friend could have a meal whilst I had cake.

My youngest daughter and her partner have dined here on several occasions and decided to include us on this visit. We were not disappointed. I had to drag my husband past the dessert cabinet on the way to our table. From our seats we could see into the open kitchen and watch the food being prepared and cooked. I opted for a delicious cheese and onion omelette. My husband had fish and chips which he declared to be one of the best he'd ever had. My daughter had salmon with scrambled eggs and her partner had a steak and cheese baguette. We had sides of skinny fries to share. Following our delicious food we decided to go for desserts too. Lemon meringue tart, Bakewell tart with fresh raspberries and strawberries. Passion fruit cheesecake and then a large fruit filled meringue. We managed to waddle out of the restaurant to find our car which was parked nearby. The food was divine and the service and speed of the food exemplary. We will return soon.

No 12 Harland Place is such a great place with something for everyone and every mood. During the day it’s more like a cool coffee place and in the evening it’s mood changes completely with its awesome dinner menu including many healthy, vegan & vegetarian dishes.
