The Old School House

Rostrevor, Newry and Mourne
16/08/2017: Had one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in this lovely cafe. The menu was varied and both food and service were excellent.
10/08/2017: Nice selection of cafes and good coffee. Some people were having more substantial meals - quite a fe wlocals eating there which is a good sign. Very nice service and good value.

Sandholes, Cookstown
10/08/2017: Great cheap breakfast with great service and all the trimmings at £4.95 for a full Irish breakfast, 2 sausages, fried egg, soda bread, potato bread, beans, mushrooms, bacon as well as a pot of tea. Piping hot as well it would be hard to get anywhere as cheap. The lunch meals looked delicious as well as the desserts.
19/07/2017: Called recently for lunch and it was the usual high standard. Hot Chicken and Bacon Salad was excellent as always, the quantity is amazing I struggled to finish! Of course the dessert just finished it all off apple crumble and fresh cream!

Yankee Star

Coalisland South, Dungannon
05/07/2017: The Yankee Star Grillhouse is one of those establishments you might miss if you don't exactly know where it is? I have to confess, despite living only 4 or 5 miles away, that I only actually finally got round to eating there pretty recently on the recommendation of my brother who has enjoyed several meals there with his workmates.First impressions were that it has that authentic, cluttered, red white and blue American diner feel to it. The sort of establishment you'd imagine was family run instead of overproduced and carefully stage managed like most of the more modern chain style American restaurants. The menu was impressive (except for the thought of the Trump burger, which made me gag a little. I'm really hoping they've changed the title of that one by now). We started with a mixed platter and tacos between 4 of us, foregoing a full starter each because I had every intention, at the time, of testing the dessert menu. All notions of a third act to the meal went out the window when our mains arrived and I half expected Adam Richman to leap out from behind our stall with a camera crew to film me eating my skyscraper of a burger! Quality certainly hadn't been sacrificed for quantity though. Every element of our starters and mains was beautifully cooked and fit to satisfy the heartiest of appetites. I suppose I could have at least tried one of their American style desserts but I had fears of combusting in the process! lolThe verdict is, if you love authentic American food and quality is an important prerequisite, the Yankee Star Grillhouse is guaranteed to satisfy. One word of warning though, you'll not manage 3 courses here so choose to do starters and mains or mains and desserts. They should give anyone who manages all three a free T shirt and a place of honour on a wall of fame!
22/06/2017: Headed to Yankee Star on our way to airport as heading off on holidays. The lunch was lovely, service was great and excellent value for money. Should visit this place more often. Thanks everyone

Timoneys Ice Cream

Ballybot, Newry and Mourne
19/08/2017: I actually had to look for the person who gave 1 star!!! I actually got a laugh out of it!! This ice cream is just the last word! Whether your sick, pregnant or just fancy treating yourself this is the place to go! So clean and all the staff are always so friendly!
07/08/2017: Family favourite - homemade ice cream never disappoints. Milkshakes are delicious too - a real favourite with the kids.

4 Vicars Restaurant

Callan Bridge, Armagh
I wszystko z lokalnych produktów. Obsługa na najwyższym poziomie! Wystrój i atmosfera lokalu zachwycają.
03/08/2017: After touring St. Patrick’s Cathedral and crypt with a knowledgeable guide, we crossed the lane to view the 18th c. charming row of houses on Vicars’ Hill. Then lunch at #4. What a surprise, just a little place but bright and airy with delicious food carefully cooked and displayed--a strong attention to detail. My mixed salad was so fresh, the lentil soup and fish nicely prepared--the bread exceptional. I felt as though I was in a small French village restaurant. Give yourself time to stop next door to see another gem—a small museum of unusual artifacts with a friendly curator.

Zio Restaurant

Annagh, Craigavon
18/08/2017: Interesting and varied menu + specials-. all at reasonable prices. Staff very knowledgeable and efficient and had a good sense of humour. The food was excellent, very tasty , and well presented. The service was good, but be prepared to wait, because everything is cooked to order and they are very busy.( It is best to book for Saturday and Sunday evenings) .We enjoyed our evening , it was a little bit noisy, but this will not stop us dining here again on our next visit to the area.
16/08/2017: God average food. No bad or anything just ok. Very popular with families and always pretty noisy . Service is always very good and staff is always friendly.

The Harbour Inn

Annalong, Newry and Mourne
20/08/2017: We were in on Saturday for few drinks and just decided to have a bar snack the food was excellent, my husband had the burger and I had the chicken and the service was quick and efficient. The whole meals was cooked to perfection. The setting of this place is lovely for photographs also, and not to be missed.
16/08/2017: Visiting family in Killeel and Annalong and decided to pop in for lunch. 6 adults. Had the carvery which was lovely. Excellent portions and very friendly staff. Lovey surroundings

Tam O' Shanter

Kilkeel Central, Newry and Mourne
10/06/2017: We visited shortly after Christmas and had a lovely lunch. My partner had the biggest steak he's ever had and I had a lovely sweet chilli noodle dish . I'm always unsure about what veggie options I'll get in restaurants as i'm usually limited to pasta, but there was a lot I could choose from thankfully.
20/05/2017: We walked in unsure if this was a pub or restaurant. A few guys drinking at a small bar told us to go upstairs. Climbing a narrow steep stairway we entered a seating area with brown tartan carpet. A Scottish lady said they don't do half pints of Guinness as I fancied one. I'm not a drinker but I took a glass of wine and asked for water which never came.I ordered Cajun steak strips with half chips and rice. The steak meal was nice but just pricey as I got a coffee also. When we went to pay downstairs at the bar the guys were now drunker and ruder.I'm debating whether to return if in the area as food was nice.

Sintons at the bridge

Poyntz Pass, Armagh
20/08/2017: We came here on Friday at 6pm. The place looks great and seems good for special events. The staff are friendly and seem well experienced. The toilets are clean and modern. I ordered the chicken Thai curry and the rest of my group had salmon and fish and chips. They were all really nice apart from the cost. For instance, the salmon is £16 and it's only a small serving. We then ordered the chocolate brownie, knickerbox glory and Pavilova. They were all well presented and tasted great.Overall, the food and atmosphere is great however it's dear.
20/08/2017: once again we came, and again outstanding quality, from the lovely warm plates to the such well cooked food, we can never fault anything. plus the beautiful dining room and serving staff so polite. so here is to next year thank you.

Poppy Smith's

The Mall, Armagh, >100£
11/08/2017: Stopped here on route to a wedding . From the minute we opened the door we were greeted by a friendly smile from the staff . Service was quick and food was not only delicious but there was plenty of it ! On this occasion we all had a fry which was almost grease free. A great start to our day !
11/07/2017: All we had this day was some bruschetta and drinks. Both agreed the bruschetta was delicious. I really enjoyed my Americano too, especially as the waitress was kind enough to fetch me some cream to put in it.Inside this establishment is gorgeous and it has an attached supermarket and other facilities. A great place to stop off for food, drinks, topping up supplies and for stretching the legs. The prices were about mid-range but you do get what you pay for.

Bagel Bean

Callan Bridge, Armagh
15/08/2017: Best coffee in Armagh by a long way and the bagels are a meal on there own.Great table service from a very pleasant bunch of staff, again made this my local when visting Armagh on my annual visit,
14/08/2017: I have never been to bagel bar that caters with so many varieties. I went for the Chelsea Blue and my partner went for a Chicken BLT(I think). Anyway mine was delicious and there was plenty of chicken and bacon and the cheese satisfied my salt craving. This was a really reasonable priced place and obviously extremely popular and affordable as it was packed with youngsters. Well done.

The Galley Cafe

Annalong, Newry and Mourne
12/08/2017: Previously had takeaways from Galley, but sat in as really wanted pot of tea.Lunchtime Saturday was very busy and noisy, maybe not best time to visit I realize, however food order taken quickly and served reasonably soon after. Had lunch time special baked cod, enormous portions, but quite tasty. plenty of menu choices, something for everyone. Reasonable priced meal and service. Usual parking issues.
10/08/2017: Nice interior decor, but mostly fast food on the menu. Good place for families. Had the battered cod and chips. Tasted nice & cooked well. There looked to be a nice selection of cakes & desserts on display but was too full to sample them!

Quinns Corner

Castlecaulfield, Dungannon
16/08/2017: We dropped in to Quinns Corner on Sunday for our lunch. We were very lucky we arrived just about 1.00pm and didn't have to queue for the carvery. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the restaurant was spotlessly clean and the food was really tasty. Good wholesome home cooked food, with lots of choice of meat and great selection of vegetables which I really liked as well. Noticed from about 1.30pm the queue for the carvery got longer and longer but everyone seemed very patient. If I'd noticed that when we came in, I think I'd have just turned and left, because I wouldn't have that patience! Probably a lot of the diners are local and know what to expect. We both enjoyed our meal and I had sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream, and it was delicious as well. Reasonably priced, great food and service, but I think the length of the queue would be a wee bit offputting for me. Sorry
14/08/2017: We met up with friends who were going to Belfast on their way back to England. The restaurant was beginning to get busy but the staff were efficient and helpful. The menu was varied and very reasonable. Service was excellent as was the quality of the food. The portions were large and the food was obviously freshly home made and pipeing hot.
