Garvey's Bar & Restaurant in Newry and Mourne

We celebrated our annual Family Reunion last weekend at Garveys. The Restaurant is in a lovely location outside Crossmaglen. The restaurant was organised in a way to ensure all 30 of us, including 5 children, were able to chat and catch up without impacting on other restaurant customers. The food was very good, the service was excellent and it was all overseen by Eamonn who deserves praise for managing a seamless evening, even taking time to arrange a surprise celebration cake for Jemma and Nick who were also celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary. Eamonn as well as organising two other parties in the restaurant took time to arrange and take a group photo for us. This shows the effort made to ensure our family not only had a wonderful evening but also had a lovely memento of the evening. Stayed for 3 nights here and place was brilliant. Central to Galway city centre and all the bars restaurants and entertainment. Loved all the girls who served the service was second to none and the food and drink absolutely spot on. They also have an old whiskey 🥃 selection which is clearly priced. Also the selection of food (which I served all day) is very reasonably priced and scrumptious. We are planning to come back here to stay next year.

Just called in on a recommendation Service good ! Food exceptional I had the sizzling beef my friends had ribs and chicken curry all very pleased. Friendly attentive staff on a busy Saturday evening. I will definitely return an overall very pleasant experience. Oh and if you like country music your in for a treat as it on in the background just adds to atmosphere.

a real diamond of a place to eat with loads of choice for all tastes. Was here again after a few years away and will be back again much sooner.

We were recommended this restaurant by friends. Passed by on a Saturday afternoon. The place was deserted. Went in and they served us. The food was excellent, good quality food and great portions. Very friendly and attentive staff. The price was very reasonable too. Will definitely be back. Friday nights 2 for 1 menus. Wine is great value too. Possible to pay in Euro.

Party of six with different experiences, steak meals very good.. Seafood chowder not like any I've tasted before more like tomatoe soup with some fish added. Sharing platter a tad greasy. Staff very good though and service fast. Good atmosphere

Staff are just fantastic and great craic. The chicken in black bean is delicious and the Sunday dinners are great too.

Quite simply one of the best meals out I’ve had in some time. Hot Plenty of it Tasty Well cooked Good quality ingredients I had soup followed by pepper chicken and then the chocolate brownie and literally ate every last morsel. Quite often with chicken it is over cooked (better than under cooked I suppose) but this was perfect. More peppercorn sauce available without asking. Friendly staff and reasonable prices £14.99 for 3 courses on their Sunday lunch menu!

Compliments to Eamonn and his staff for providing my large family gathering with excellent food and service. I held my sons Holy Communion meal here and from the minute I booked Garveys, they where nothing but outstanding. Eamonn kept in touch with menus and special dietary requests before our big day. Our 8 year old son was given the best of the best attention on his arrival, including presents. He was amazed at the dining room and how it was decorated for him. Our menu was excellent and catered for everyone's needs. The food was of a high standard and we all (36 of us) enjoyed the full 4 courses served up, with no complaints. Once again I would like to thank the staff and highly recommend Garveys.

Called in on Sunday for food. They had 2 menus to offer which both had a brilliant selection on. 2 of us went for the steak. It was delicious the best I have had in a long time. The service was brilliant. I will definitely be back again.

Called in on a Saturday lunchtime when the restaurant had just opened. It was quiet but the restaurant has a beautiful interior and I would imagine that when more people are in there would be a nice atmos. I had the Asian veggie stir fry which came with a sweet soy sauce that was just right and over the years I have experienced many places which didn't match up. Other family members took fish and chips, veg pasta, chicken etc and all agreed the taste and preparation was excellent. Well worth a visit. Service friendly and efficient.

Lovely friendly bar/restaurant with a good selection of reasonably priced food to suit all palates. A fail-safe place to have a tasty meal, and the staff are very friendly & accommodating.

Went for family birthday, food was amazing and beyond reasonable. Cocktails are gorg!! Little under staffed that night but these things happen n the staff are fab so so nice. Will be back

I returned to Garvey's for a family meal and was delighted with every aspect of the evening. The good was hearty and wholesome, quite simply faultless. The staff were very pleasant and helpful the ambience was warm snd relaxed. It is full of local hospitality and well worth a visit.

Not to be missed if visiting the Newry area. Delicious food, nightly entertainment, friendly staff, fun cocktails, there is a separate bar area to visit after your delicious meal!

Fuimos a Garveys en los padres día con 8 miembros de mi familia, incluyendo 3 niños. El lugar estaba muy lleno, pero nos sentaron muy rápidamente, y en menos de 20 minutos de llegar nos sirvieron los entrantes. los platos principales seguido muy rápidamente por el personal es muy simpático y agradable. La comida era excelente y bien presentada . Una velada muy agradable todo el año y que sin duda volveremos!! Un auténtico lujo.

We visited Garveys on a Sunday afternoon for a casual dinner. The place has recently reopened under new management with a new kitchen team and they seem to have brought the place back to its original standards-good quality food without fuss. The menu is fairly standard with steaks, burgers, stir frys, chicken, fish and pasta dishes. They also do kids portions/meals. In addition they had 3 specials including the traditional Sunday roast. The waitresses were relaxed and confident and the orders arrived promptly. Good portion size and very tasty. We also had the apple pie dessert (which was an addition to the dessert menu) which was clearly home made and again very good. In all good casual dining option which we will definitely visit again. The only suggestion I would make is that the plates should be heated slightly more-they weren't cold but could have done with an increase of another few degrees in the warming cupboard.

Absolutely One of the finest meals that I had while visiting Ireland. If you are visiting the Beautiful South Armagh area, this is a must stop. This new restaurant is new with limited hours. I believe the current operating days are Thursday thru Sunday starting at noon. The food is delicious, beautiful presentation and plenty! Cheerful place that feels like "home"! I hope you enjoy!
