Food amazing facilities top notch unfortunately I can’t say the same about the service our waiter just ignorant when taking our order overall not a friendly service

We entered the ice cream parlour in a good mood 🙂 but left in an unhappy one 😤 due to the abrupt and cheeky attitude of the blonde assistant on the ice cream counter ! Otherwise nice Ice cream 🍨

This place used to have the reputation for great fish, but I fear that has long gone. Ordered a fish and chip and was presented with what they said was haddock but was about the same thickness as a flat fish. The fillet was redicously small, and it lacked any flavour. To b fair the chips were good, but with a price tag of 16 pounds, it was a dear plate of chips. Will I return.... definitely not.

Have never came across such an uninteresting rude and lazy staff member in Genoa cafe. The people beside us were going to leave but their kids were hungry. Bleach blonde hair and she's in the wrong job. It's certainly not cheap either. We spent almost £40. Qued for ages for ice cream but decided we wouldn't give this place another penny!!!!

Greeted by a friendly girl on the counter and shown to a table. Pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. I ordered scampi and my partner ordered fish and chips. Both arrived fairly quickly and nicely presented. The scampi was delicious with a good sized portion of chips and my hubby was equally happy with his dish. Good value for money.

Very inconsistent product, long waiting times, no proper queuing system. Last time I was there I waited an inordinate amount of time and I ended up with hard end cuts for my portion of chips.

Visiting Warrenpoint this week and had two lovely meals here staff were so nice friendly and welcoming

Eating area at times can be grubby around seating/floor/tables More attention needs to be made to this by service staff as decor of restaurant is lovely and this spoils the experience.

The staff aren’t terribly welcoming. No please, no thank yous. There was a big queue for ice cream but my mission was to buy a bag of chips for an 8 year old. It cost £3.50 for the equivalent of one decent sized potato. I was the only one who wanted hot food so I didn’t have to wait very long. I tasted a chip and it wasn’t very good. A few nights later I got chips for this same 8 year old from a Chinese restaurant in Belfast for £2.50. The portion was bigger and the chips tastier and in fact they offered to make them salted chilli if I wished. Not for an 8 year old. It’s been very many years since I’ve bought anything from the Genoa and it’ll be very many years before I return but if I do it won’t be my choice.

Been to a few similar carry out places locally and this was the worst fish and chips takeaway ever and certainly not cheap at £10.80 , save your money and get a far better takeaway at the Galley, The Pitstop, and my favourite Fiships in Camlough

Good food however, sent my disabled brother in to collect an order to which he was somewhat greeted by a young female with dark hair saying “phone order”. She had then packed the bag leaving a chip behind to which he stated, where she then tutted and said “you could have told me before I had packed the bag”. This is no way to speak to any paying customer, showing an extreme lack of customer service!

Great, provided another icecream when child dropped, even know they didnt need to. Fast, friendiy staff

Really friendly helpful staff despite the place being jam packed busy. Food was delicious and great portions.

Food was good but it was expensive, 2 large Coke Zeros where served in the standard 330ml tins and where £5.80 which is whopping £2.80 per tin. We will use the takeaway from now on as the cost for sitting in is just to expensive.

The Genoa is an all-time classic restaurant, takeaway, and ice cream parlour. I just had 3 fish suppers for takeaway. They were delicious and satisfying. The fish tasted juicy and fresh and was fried to perfection. (They have a dedicated fish-fryer!) The chips were so traditional that nobody left even a crumb behind. The front line staff were cheerful and chatty, and the customer area was warm. Loved it...

A family run proper Fish and Chips place where everyone has a smile for you. Best chips around this area. Great selection of burgers, fish, sausages, sandwiches, wraps available and a large selection of ice cream sold within this chippy.

Food is always good and service always speedy.

Went here in Friday have been on differant times, and food always good. But hubby got chicken fillet burger and which he thiught was skinny fries, but they they were chips done in skins. Hus burger was very hard. Oil must have been to hot. He didn't tell me, until we were on our way out. I would have complained, but he wouldn't day to me. I got fish supper n it was very tasty. Prbly should have complained. But i said he didn't tell me until we were out

This is a lovely little cafe just off the nail Street. We'll worth a visit nice and clean staff all very helpful. Fish and chips are lovely and do try the hot Irish apple pie and geleto.

Really really excellent haddock and chips.

As a regular customer in this chip shop, I was gobsmacked to learn that a "classic burger" on its own is £11. No offence but I'd be wanting Gordon Ramsay to be cooking it for that price... Even with chips that would be expensive. It's a shame because the food from the Genoa is usually nice enough, but I can't justify the prices, especially when the portion sizes aren't the best either.

This is such an interesting place. It looks like a chipper from the outside but it has a beautiful seating area at the back. It feels like being in a high end restaurant. The food has to be the best chipper food imaginable. It is not greasy at all and there are wonderful options. The milkshakes are also amazing. Can't wait to go back for the gelato!

We went here as an extended family of 5 as it was a favourite place from my dad. The food was average and what was more disappointing was the £75+ bill for 5 people which included 2 from our party having only cheesy chips. What made it worse is when we were told the coke machines were not working and that they only had bottles as an option, we were happy with this as a replacement until we were faced with the bill of £4 per bottle, I asked why these where this price as the bottles were on the take away menu at £2 and I was told it was a service charge (£2 service charge for carrying a bottle to a table is disgusting). Lovely place however this is shocking and we won’t go back.

Staff were lovely and service was great. Fish and chips are OK but a bit overpriced. My Daughter had the "hot dog" which was just a long, rather tasteless sausage in a slightly stale seeming hot dog roll. Just a bit disappointing.

Horrendous was with a friend and we were charged 8 pounds to sit in..for 2 burgers 2 chips 2 drinks 32 pound..robbed nowhere on the menu does it say extra price to sit in.will not be back

Worst experience I’ve ever had in a chippy, only ordered 2 plain chips, was left waiting for 15 minutes, when I asked for a refund the server was rude, dismissive and told me “that’s how long it takes chips to cook” when I have worked in many takeaways and never have I taken 15 minutes to cook one portion of chips, half the staff standing around talking eating ice cream not doing anything when the resteraunt was half full. Anybody could’ve been preparing or half cooking another batch of chips but it seemed like they were cooking each order one at a time, the cashier then slammed my bag of chips down on the counter with a dirty look, I’ll not be back it was the worst experience I’ve ever gone through just for two sub-par chips, I’d have been better off making my own in the house, it’d be less hassle and nicer too.

Fish and chip takeaway and restaurant with ice-cream parlour too. Food was reasonable with good portions. Really nice, juicy burger with all the trimmings well worth ordering. Service functional. Regret not ordering the fish and chip dinner so will have to go back

Oh how the mighty have fallen! Unlike my previous visit (review below) this one was a major let down. Charging £9 for a fish supper I was expecting something good. The fish was tiny! Overcooked and more batter than fish. I've had more cod in a jumbo fish finger! Looking at recent reviews it seems I am not alone. Chips were good but I won't be wasting my money buying fish from here again. Mighty fine fish and chips. Lots of staff so very efficient service and everyone taking Covid precautions.

I got the cod goujons and chips, which I really enjoyed and perfect size portion. My partner got the cod and chip supper and was disappointed with the portion size. Food was definitely enjoyable but didn't feel value for money. Staff were lovely and nice sit-in area.

So disappointed with my experience of the food from Genoa. I bought a fish & chips which is definitely one of the most expensive around (£9.00). Their quality has clearly dropped in standard and the portion size (of the fish especially), was extremely small and disappointing. Won’t be back in a hurry!

What happened here? The chips used to be really really good but all the food seems to come straight from the freezer now, fish and chips were both awful and full of grease.

Probably the worst fish and chips I've every had, the chips were so dry and hard, the fish was tiny and hardly any fish inside the batter. Whats happened to your food I always loved your fish and chips.

I always get fish suppers from this chippy every time I’m up at warnpoint, I would always praise this chippy on there fish but. Got 3 fish supper yesterday and I was shocked at how small the fish was , the food was top class but the fish portion was ridiculously small that I don’t think I will go the again

This is a long standing institution in Warrenpoint, opened in 1910. The food was lovely, and very generous, and it's famous for its ice cream. I would definitely go back.

Good ice cream. But overwhelming smell of the chip shop that shares its space. Very pretty lady serving the ice cream could learn how to smile especially as she's serving children.

Not good fish batter was very hard and the fish looked more like Whiting come back mc canns chip van

Great lovely food, had a taco chicken and cheese wrap from there today, my only problem with the restaurant is the waiting times, I waited over forty minutes for a casadilla with chicken cheese and a bit of taco sauce

Friendly staff, nice chips but burger was overcooked also used cheap tomato ketchup which tasted awful. Ice cream however was yum.

The Fish and Chips are fantastic! Stopped here while looking for some fish and chips to take out. Well set up during COVID: a very genial staff member greeted us at the front door and enquired whether we wanted to carry out food, buy from the ice cream bar or sit in. After stating that we were after carry out food, she ensured I was wearing a mask and directed me to one of the ordering hatches inside. Another efficient staff member then took my order. Effective plexiglass screen at the ordering area that was easy to communicate through. We then waited outside while our order appeared to be cooked fresh. Plenty of complimentary condiments, cutlery and napkins offered and a robust bag to carry it out. Ate it at the harbour, which is very beautiful and only a 2 minute walk. Quality of the fish and chips were above average. Not too greasy or fatty. Batter was just right and fish seemed to be of high quality. Chips were great. Not too expensive; I've definitely paid more for inferior fish suppers. Recommended if you're in Warrenpoint!

Visited quite a few times both on the motorbike and while on a family holiday and must say the food is absolutely fantastic! Definitely worth a visit. The ice cream looks brilliant too although I haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet.
