The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Italian food

Visited on a Saturday night with a group of 11 friends. Firstly we were asked to pre-order as a large group which we did but I don't think this works for tapas. The food was tasty, well cooked & presented nicely, cannot fault the food. However, the service was terrible, despite there being a lot of Staff on duty, we felt ignored by them. The restaurant was not busy but the staff were pretty much not there. We were ignored when arriving, one friend waited 20 minutes for a gin & tonic on arrival, when chased, response was rude not apologetic at all. We were not asked if anything was alright until we had finished, nor if we needed anything else and did not have the opportunity to order any more drinks than what we ordered on arrival as no staff came near the table. We would have had a lot more drinks if able to order so the restaurant missed out here. Turns out the young inexperienced staff felt no need to be present in the restaurant to respond to our needs but were more concerned with what appeared to be socialising and eating around the bar. There is a lack of supervision of the waiting on staff, hence we purposefully left no tip. I'm Italian and quite fussy and often feel underwhelmed when eating in Italian restaurants. Not this time. I visited with my partner, we had a nice whitebait starter and then two plates of pasta, both were delicious. I had the linguine mussels, prawns and chillies and my partner had the linguine with cream of courgettes and prawns. The pasta was cooked to perfection and both sauces were to die for. We even asked for some bread to mop up the sauces (la scarpetta) as they were just too delicious to leave. We had a lovely Campari spritz as an aperitif and a very nice glass of house white. Angela who served us was very welcoming. A really nice experience and I'll definitely return when I'm in the Thorpe Bay area. I highly recommend.

Avoid at all costs. Placed an order in August and never received it. Tried on multiple times to contact but to date no reply

Came last Saturday with my family and my girlfriend. The five of us really enjoyed the food. I had the gamberoni which was brilliant and the linguine alla pescatora which I found amazing aswell. The staff were very warm and welcoming, service was brilliant even considering how many people were in the resteraunt. I will definately be coming again soon.

First visit for a birthday celebration. Great location on the river front at Newburn We went Thursday evening and it was very busy so would definitely recommend booking The food was very good, service decent

We are lucky enough to live close to Fan Fan Pizza so visit fairly regularly. Fab pizza, fab desserts and love the authentic Italian atmosphere. Well done Fan Fan owners. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Quite honestly this is the best pizza I’ve had in years! Our first visit and so glad we live locally as will be back many times I’m sure. Can’t fault the pizza - lovely thin crispy base, very generous toppings, perfectly seasoned and quite simply delicious. And very reasonably priced too. Only a few tables if you want to eat in so probably best to book, especially for larger groups.

He estado aquí un par de veces antes de mi visita más reciente, esto fue de lejos el más memorable. Tenía unos calamares frescos preciosos para empezar, mi amigo tiene las mejillas de cerdos estofados, ambos estaban deliciosos. Para el principal tuve pulpo cornish bebé guisado en vino tinto con garbanzos, estaba de nuevo delicioso, terroso, el pulpo todavía tenía un poco de bocado. Mi amigo tenía el poussin, que también era muy bueno. El único plato corriente era el pastel de almendra y ricota (bastante aburrido) , que se salvó con una mermelada de naranja fresca, y un poco de helado de pistacho que estaba fenomenal. Ambos tuvimos cerveza sin alcohol (muy agradable). El servicio fue maravilloso, el personal me cantó feliz cumpleaños!

Have been a few times when in the city. Superb Pizza, and tremendous Pasta. Great authentic Italian Food. Small and informal dining.

The food was exceptional, excellent drinks and outstanding service. The tapas were the best we've had in a long time. I highly recommend it.

We visited here for a family birthday as it had been highly recommended to us. It did not disappoint, the small, friendly restaurant had a cosy atmosphere, the service was perfect and well what can I say about the food, a fantastic menu also with a wide range of options for vegetarians and vegans as well. Every meal was delicious. We will definitely return and recommend to anyone that knows us.
