We dined here as a family of 4 with our dog and we found it hard to leave as it was so perfect. A warm welcome awaited us despite this being unplanned and having no booking and having our dog with us. We were asked if we preferred inside or outside so we opted for outside given the magnificent views. We were promptly led to a lovely table with such a beautiful view of Louden Hill. It is absolutely breath-taking. Our menu's were given to us and the waitress told us about the specials they had available and was able to clearly explain a couple of the items on the menu that we were unsure of. I opted for the Haggis Bon Bon's, Sirloin Steak and Sticky Toffee Pudding. My wife also opted for the Haggis Bon Bon's but didn't want the sauce so they offered an alternative which was a great touch as we would never have thought to ask. The Haggis was amazing. A great combination of the haggis with the a perfect whisky sauce and potato. Every bite just absolutely lush. Next the steak which I simply could not resist given it was an absolute bargain at just £17.95 Cooked to perfection and well presented and again, a selection of sauces available. Finally the best bit... Pudding! No matter what you think, you NEED to order the sticky toffee pudding. Even as I write now, I wish I had some of this. They have absolutely nailed it. Perfectly baked. Soft, moist sponge with an amazing sauce to match. All home made on the premises by the staff. My wife and daughters had other food including the Carbonara, Pizza and Chicken Balmoral and all equally reported to be fantastic, especially the pizza! As for the other puddings, there was the dough sticks which I pinched one from my daughter and have to say they were very impressive, in fact, so impressive, another order of them was sent for! The chocolate fudge cake was a hit with my oldest daughter and my wife opted for the cheesecake which was a strawberry and lime one this particular day. My wife said it was beautiful, a thick biscuit base perfectly baked with a generous, light and fluffy strawberry and lime topping that was amazing. Food was quickly served and it was just simply perfect. The whole experience just made this lovely sunny evening better. The whole setting is just astounding and the service is very attentive without being intrusive. It is always the little extras that are simple but yet make for such a pleasant visit when you go out anywhere and the Louden Hill Restaurant have certainly pushed out all the stops in my book including offering a bowl of fresh water and some food for our dog and then later when we we were enjoying coffees the staff asked if we would like to move to a table inside as it was getting a little cold as the sun had started to fade. This was very kind indeed considering it meant more cleaning for them. If you get the chance, visit this place and enjoy a great atmosphere, stunning views all around and magnificent food all bundled up with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We have vowed to revisit in the summer when we have a trip to Edinburgh planned with the kids. It's only about an hour's drive from Edinburgh so well worth it.

Stopped on spec and they were not actually open for another half hour but we were invited in anyway. We had intended just to have a quick coffee but the menu looked so good we decided to order. We actually ordered a selection of starters and they were delicious, reasonably priced and well presented. If you add to that the friendly welcome and good service all I can say is it's a gem well worth visiting

Week night birthday tea. Greeted warmly by staff made welcome and comfortably seated next to wood burner. We had booked ahead so they knew about reason for vist. Lovely starter, food prompt and main great portion, pizza and steak . Chef then took our son into the kitchen and showed him how he makes the pizza giving him a chance to make one for one of the staff. All in a lovely experience. Would definitely recommend.

Visited for the first time with a large party of friends 10 in total 2starters never appeared even although staff advised but didn't seem to care. Same with 2mains. Others in the party split theirs to feed the ones missing food again staff not interested. Asked for manager who turned out to be one of the owners her attitude was highly unprofessional and reluctant to resolve the issues to our satisfaction. We were given a free round of lemoncello Yuck! Eventually after much discussion bill was discounted and rightly so. Our dining experience was ruined, not customers fault that they had staffing issues. Our friends are local and have already had 2 bad experiences with food here but thought third time lucky - how wrong can you be! Our advise to the owners if you can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen or get on a customer services course ASAP and seriously work on your attitude towards customers with valid complaints! This is definitely one kitchen we will Never visit again especially as there are so many fabulous restaurants run by true professionals offering amazing food and exemplary customer service all around this area. Definitely one to avoid!

Visited tonight with family. Didn't book as last minute decision & hadn't realised it was Italian now. On arriving we were advised by the chef that we may have a wait as they were understaffed however our food came very quickly. We had olives, drinks & arancini balls to share. The wine was lovely. Three different pizzas & a calzone. Large portions, delicious authentic pizza. Only problem we had was we ordered focaccia that didn't arrive but we didn't mention as enough food & not charged for it. One of the pizza orders was wrong but rectified straight away. Considering they have just opened & short staffed this was minor. Overall amazing food, fair prices, beautiful location & good atmosphere. Will be back.

Popped in for a takeaway pizza after work. Was absolutely fantastic. While I wasn't having a sit down meal, I will do next time, as it looked lovely inside, I love Italian food, and I really hope that this business does well as it is right on our door step.

After tagging along with another couple on Saturday, we were back again on Thursday! Staff very friendly, food delicious and really pleasant atmosphere all round. Delighted to see it was as busy tonight as it was at the weekend and so nice to finally have somewhere decent to go for a good meal in the local area. I wish this place every success as it thoroughly deserves it.

It's a busy place. For a couple, it might be too noisy. You feel you need to shout to talk to each other. Might be a good place to have a gathering . Staff are friendly and the food is decent. Cocktai
