Cockburn's Tea Rooms

Midhurst, Chichester
05/10/2018: Top service in a wonderful atmosphere. Afternoon tea was amazing, Great selection of sandwiches and cakes. By far my favourite tearoom.
26/09/2018: My wife and I have just had the most delicious afternoon tea at the Arundel tearooms. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty while the sweet selection was an absolute delight. Too much to eat at one sitting but they were more than happy to box up the remaining pastries. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Won't be long before we return. 5*****

The Fox Goes Free

Boxgrove, Chichester, <20£
12/11/2018: Visited for Sunday lunch, very busy, which reflects on quality of food. Huge, tasteless, yorkshire puddings, hard roast potatoes and tough rib of beef. Had to request gravy.
07/11/2018: Great little pub, very traditional, has traditional values, value for money, great service, great food and large portions, could have done with a better choice of desserts, otherwise could not fault the service, food or atmosphere

Cote Brasserie - Chichester

Chichester South, Chichester
12/11/2018: Really nice afternoon lunch. The atmosphere was good as were te staff. The food was delicious and arrived in good time. I would recommend this place.
12/11/2018: We stopped here for some breakfast, the atmosphere is very relaxed and not it anyway rushed. The selection is plentiful and very good value.

The Hollist Arms

Easebourne, Chichester, 30-45£
09/11/2018: We received a friendly welcome from the barmaid/waitress at this charming village pub, recently upgraded under new ownership (also own Noah's Ark); it strikes the right balance between pub and restaurant. Farrow and Ball type decor with old pine tables, pictures and succulents in small vases. An attractive, tempting menu delivered tasty enjoyable plates of food and the peppercorn sauce which accompanied the chicken Milanaise (in panko crumbs) was the best sauce I have ever had. Well done, Chef! The black bean, chorizo and jalapeno croquettes' first course was a large portion and for my taste should have been spicier as they lacked any punch. Also a fresh salsa might have been better than mayonnaise to accompany the rich croquettes. However, it was a good starter for a hungry walker. Crispy shredded beef salad was well presented, attractive and tasty. Good selection of wines and beers, and draught cider excellent. Nice, relaxed atmosphere with daily newspapers to read and there are several areas in which to sit. There are various deals on different days ie Tues: pie and pint £14 and one Weds a month: 2 course lunch with 125cl glass wine £15. We shall certainly go again; next time I'd love to see a couple of more slimming options on the menu which doesn't include any deep fat frying. Do pop into the well-stocked Lodsworth Larder, the village shop run by volunteers next door too and have a walk at nearby Black Down.
27/10/2018: A magical find, and worth the drive. Simply one of the best hidden gems around. Warm welcome from all the staff, beautiful yet cosy interior, especially with the welcoming log fires! Exceptional food and service. If you like the Noah’s Ark in Lurgashall, then its sister pub you will absolutely love.

Midhurst, Chichester
16/10/2018: Really nice deli/cafe with lovely staff and an interesting array of foods for sale. Quite small and seating a little hard but overall a nice experience. Small menu with very nice sandwiches. We will return.
16/10/2018: Found Comestibles purely by accident while wandering along the streets of Midhurst. Stopped for coffee and a sandwich and so glad we did. Sandwiches with generous fillings served with crisps and salad and a cafetière of the most delicious coffee. Clean and comfortable with excellent service.

The Elsted Inn

Harting, Chichester, <20£
31/10/2018: We visited this lovely pub at 2pm on a Sunday for my husband’s birthday. We were a party of 6, comprising 4 adults, two teenagers and a two year old.
26/10/2018: Only stayed for a quick pit stop on the way to Portsmouth, but everything there was great. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and the surrounding area was perfect for an after meal walk!

Gartons Coffee House

Midhurst, Chichester, <20£
29/10/2018: We'd been staying in the pub across the road and wanted to grab a quick coffee/cake before driving home. Polite and friendly service from the young staff, clean and tidy, great cappucino!
24/10/2018: A lovely location in the village on a warm afternoon. Good food. Nice spot for cyclists as plenty of room for your bikes.

Meghdoots Mystique Masala

Petworth, Chichester
05/11/2018: After reading other reviews and being told by locals how good it was we were quite disappointed, the lamb was quite tough, nothing out of the ordinary, been to many better.
04/11/2018: The general consensus of reviews capture what you need to know about this place and why you need to make time to dine here. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Be careful not to overface yourself by ordering too much. We found this lot too much for us - 1 special starter, 3 papadums w/ pickle tray, 2 mains, 2 breads, 1 side. 1 rice. We should have ditched 1 of the mains or been prepared to take the leftovers home, as they are happy to accommodate. Their Gerwürztraminer is decent version of this wine which traditionally partners well with spicy food. It’s all well priced, good value, good service too. The donut dessert is on point but may be a little oily for some palates. If you’re at all uncomfortable with aniseed, don’t be tempted with the closing, and beautiful looking, bowl you’re presented with.

The White Horse

Bury, Chichester
26/08/2018: Had to post to say THANK YOU. Chris, Will and all the staff that we encountered on our stay (that due to family illness was 'cut short' by one night) were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The room was exquisite as was the fabulous bath. The food was divine and the wine chilled to perfection. We were 'robbed' of our full stay by circumstance but be sure when life calms down a tad we will be returning to 'conclude' our White Horse adventure <3
17/08/2018: This is a delightful country inn with a terrific menu, especially if you like seafood. Good value for money and a lovely ambiance. Staff are friendly and attentive without being in any way intrusive and the food is simply delicious. Highly recommended

The Stag Inn

Petworth, Chichester, >100£
09/11/2018: We have been intending visiting the Stag Inn for some time (about two years!) following various recommendations from friends. Finally we did so on Thursday only to find that the pub had changed hands...but we need not have worried!!
06/11/2018: Very friendly pub, welcomed our golden retriever with dog biscuits and water. The food was good and lovely friendly service - all in front of a log fire.

The Richmond Arms

Funtington, Chichester
07/11/2018: Had another lovely lunch here on Sunday once we were able to gain access. One door had a “Please use other door” sign and the other door was locked. Sat outside patiently waiting but got cold so returned to our car. Another couple turned up and they couldn’t get in either. Finally a waitress opened up and said that they didn’t realise the door was locked – funny that as the clue was that you had no customers!
06/11/2018: This restaurant has definitely improved its game. The choice was very interesting and lots of choice.

The Three Horseshoes

Harting, Chichester
30/09/2018: A 21st birthday celebration for 7 on a very busy Sunday lunch time; lots of families and groups all enjoying a great pub in a great location. Delicious food, served just right; friendly efficient staff coping well on a busy day. Memorable 21st birthday - many thanks.
02/09/2018: Recommended this pub while staying in the area and we were not disappointed.

Seven Fish

Midhurst, Chichester, >100£
28/10/2018: Went in with group of girlfriends, we thought we’d have a few drinks and some food and a girly catch up
16/10/2018: We have eaten at The Seven Fish many times over recent years. However, it has been some time since we have had their take away fish and chips! However, we put this right recently and are happy to report that they are as good as ever. Lovely crispy battered cod and great chips. They really are amazing value - and served very quickly. (Although a cocktail or drink is nice whilst waiting - and the staff will keep your order warm for you!).

Cassons Restaurant

Tangmere, Chichester, >100£
07/11/2018: Unfortunately not the “wow” factor dinner we were expecting - particularly after reading previous reviews & dining guides. I noted with interest the owner's comments on these guides in the restaurant’s “autumn newsletter“ - which seemed to suggest that the guides under rate Cassons - maybe not in our opinion…
04/11/2018: My partner decided to take me for a nice meal without the children ,We have been to cassons twice now and both times the food has been full of flavour and well worth the money. The owner greeted us with a welcoming smile and took us to our booked table. I decided on the quail start and roe dear main both were full of flavour I highly recommend,my partner decided on the scallops start and suckling pig main my partner described both as beautifully cooked (huge compliment from him being a chef), we both had the quartet of desserts which was amazing because we just couldn’t decide.

Crab & Lobster

Sidlesham, Chichester
12/11/2018: Used to visit when it was a pub selling fresh crab sandwiches. How it has changed. Now a top quality restaurant mainly fish, but well prsented by attentive staff. Wish the wine was not so expensive but that is the general rule in this area. A very gentle birthday lunch
10/11/2018: We celebrated our 6th month anniversary at crabs and lobster and were quite disappointed with the food. I had octopus and Selsey crab and they were both plain and didn’t taste anything. Wouldn’t say that was a Michelin star restaurant experience though it was expensive (£150 for 2 included tips). Definitely won’t come back here again
