Was really looking forward to trying the restaurant as the hotel is majestic as called. Wonderful location, too. They were not that busy but only had two people working. When I arrived at the hostess stand there was no one there and no one in the dining area. I had to wait at least five minutes for someone to seat me. And, with an almost empty restaurant I was seated right next to a table of five. I asked to move and she said the other tables were not set. I asked several questions about the specials and the menu but she only came back with one answer. I ordered anyway as it was getting late (8 pm). The soup was okay but for a seasonal flavored soup I expected more. It was a celery base soup and was quite bland. The main issue was the mussels. I immediately saw that two were not opened so I put them to the side. I then proceeded to find over 8 mussels that had very broken shells. A restaurant should never serve broken mussel shells as you could get sick. They could be dead before cooking. I ate the ones that were okay which was about 60% of the dish. They were a bit dry so I question how fresh they were. No one came back to check on me otherwise I would have said something. They seemed more intent on closing up. I am a business traveler, and it was getting late. I just wanted to have a quick meal and go to my room after a long day. When I was finally able to flag someone down to get the bill I showed them the problem. When asked why I waited to tell them I said I just wanted to finish up quickly, no one was around, and I am also always leery about sending food back as I have heard stories about the chef getting mad and tampering with the food. He apologized and said he would tell the chef. If I wanted to come back tomorrow, he would give me concierge service. Not ever sure what that meant but was not eager to come back. He did not even discount my meal one $1. After sleeping on it I raised it with the hotel manager the next day and got a letter that said we removed your dinner and basically, we are "sorry you felt". Not fully acknowledging that they should not have served so many mussels with broken shells. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
