We are longstanding customers of Bharat and The Lion before it and visited recently with friends, it was the first time since Raj left. Unfortunately the food was disappointing and so was the service. Gone are the friendly staff; one of the waiters didn’t even understand us let alone chat to us. Barat was always a treat because it was a bit on the pricey side but it was always very good. We probably won’t go back now after 25+ years.

I am writing this direct from the Flower pot cafe.. I don’t want to write this review but after 6 interventions trying to get 2 pots of tea, a tea cake and a scone correct I lost my appetite and patience. Here the list of issues 1. Having ordered our choices as above other clients were served before us after being seated after us. 2. I went to the desk and could see my tea cake sitting on the tray - on serving it was cold and the button was rock hard so could spread it and ripped the bread apart 3. It was a large tea cake but second visit for an additional butter. 4. My wife knifes for her scone was dirty from the tip to the top of the handle. 5. Having now rescued a new knife there was no sugars or sweetener provided - up again ! 6. All must be ok now ? - no there were no tea spoons provided Seriously this is extremely poor service and at £2 a pot and a bill for £9.90 I think it deserves a mention and I would like to see an acknowledgement from the owner. I really hope this is due to a change of management as this use to be our goto restaurant. Starting with the place itself, freezing cold, needs a paint job and a decent clean. Staff, way too busy for just 2 waiters, one of whom was no older than 15, and they need to be given aprons or something as one had food all over his shirt. Food, tasteless and the quality of the meat was awful, lamb in particular was like chewing a block of sawdust. Wife's meal was passable but not as good as before which is reason we use to go here. Bill, 70 quid for 2 mains a nann and 3 glasses of wine feels a bit steep for what is basically a run of the mill curry house. Charged nearly 6 quid for 4 poppadoms which we never asked for (lots of places they are Inc so we just assumed the same given they just appeared). 2 small glasses of house red and 1 white wine spritzer with lemonade that came in a small wine glass came to over 20 quid. Oh don't chill red wine, but then the room was that cold.... Didn't complain at the time as had already been unwell in the bathroom and just wanted to get home. The after 8 mint was OK, can't really screw that up though! Such a shame as use to be our favorite.

Disappointed.. wasn't hot, barely warm. Ordered pekingspecial as one dish, it didn't resemble the description given.. think it was the wrong dish!
