Excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Good service and great staff. UPDATE, May 2019 new menu, I tried Asian Salmon fillet, albeit with Parmentier rather than sweet potato, and it was excellent. Update 2024 Only breakfast in morning and burgers to eat in and takeaway later nowadays. Check opening times for more detail on web and social media. Still very good with great staff.

We stopped at the crown on our way back from Colchester for a drink asked on the off chance if there was a table for two available which there was sat outside in the sun and had a drink until service started the staff and waitresses were all very helpful and friendly. We both had the chicken livers in masala cream sauce to start followed by the Dover sole and a trio of lamb which were all excellent and not expensive well worth a visit.

If you are an Aunt Bessie fan, then this is spot on! The food was edible but I am certain that everything came straight from the freezer and none (or very little) was home made/cooked.

Rubino Kitchen On Saturday we made a long overdue return to Rubino Kitchen. I’m delighted to say it was our best visit to date as we enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu created by chef / owner Rob. We were also looked after superbly by Sophie. The restaurant is on the Inworth Road just a ten minute drive from junction 23 on the A12. When we arrived Sophie was there to greet us warmly before seating us at our table. At this point Rob came out for a chat and to welcome us back. For the menu which is designed so you can either have A la Carte or create your own tasting menu. This gives you the opportunity to have as many dishes as you like as well as this there also the choice of a set three course lunch menu. We decided to opt for the offer from Rob to have a surprise tasting menu. We started with a Chicken and Leek Terrine which was followed by Rabbit Agnolotti , Baked Scallops , Braised Beef with Horseradish Risotto and Haddock. Then it was time for desserts. Here we enjoyed the delicious Lemon Tart , Custard Tart and the Biscoff Cheesecake. We finished with a coffee before heading into the kitchen where we could personally thank Rob and the team for a great afternoon. There is no doubt in my mind when I say I would recommend a visit to Rubino Kitchen which is one of the best restaurants in Essex. Recently Had a lovely family meal there. Staff were friendly . Food arrived promptly . Thoroughly recommend the fish and chips.

Visiting nearby with our dogs. Staff and locals friendly. Beer very good so we booked following day for lunch. Back again before we go back home.

Had a lovely late lunch here with my mum . Tasty Turkey ciabatta roll and a portion of chips . With a pint a cider Lovely friendly and helpful staff and a cozy relaxing pub. Will definitely return soon.
