Zippola in Enfield

Been a regular whenever I visit my son and family. Food always great, comfy surroundings and an extremely warm welcome from the new proprietor’s - thank you so much 😊

Really pained to write this as Zippola has become a much loved fixture of Enfield life. However, since Massimo handed over the propriertorship to Marco the place has gone downhill. It looks neglected, battered and untidy. Today it was cold with little evidence of heating (maybe this was a one-off?). It needs a makeover, which need not cost much. No complaints about the food and drink but the place needs to be more welcoming.

Love this place for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Amazing staff and beautiful food, have enjoyed everything we have eaten there!!

Slow service staff not very interested food took45minsfor poached eggs on sourdough bacon and beans stone cold bacon looked like it had been sat in a cold pan when I complained the member of staff really could not care less oh ok reluctant ly gave me refund but no apologize where given. If this is the best in enfield and it is not gawd help us very poor for Italian no respect for customer service

Had a lovely trip to Zippola today. I haven't been for ages but had a fantastic latte and chat there today. Lovely atmosphere, fab service and just wanted to let people know it's a really great eatery.

We have regularly visited this summer for brunch - loads of choices including veggie, vegan and gluten free. The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious.

Extraordinarily welcoming Italian cafe that is very welcoming and great value. Best coffee and lattes and really nice atmosphere. Will definitely recommend and go back Rachel

We go to Zippola every Saturday for breakfast after a morning run and really missed it when we were in lockdown. We were so impressed with the level of Covid compliance put in place. We sanitised our hands, we were asked to sign in and wear our masks to and from the table. The service was the usual level of politeness and friendliness. They never mind little changes to the menu and are happy to bring whatever you need. Thank you to the Zippola team for letting our Saturday morning tradition continue safely.

Brilliant place went with a friend to catch up over the holidays, divine selection of desserts and majority gluten and dairy free, lovely choice of healthy foods, and an excellent cappuccino. Will definitely recommend and return for me.

I must have been past this place 100s of times over the years but never really noticed them. But the last few months, I have been in a number of times since Dec and there is always a good selection of snacks, cakes and coffees/teas. I should have discovered it sooner! It's been pretty crowded most times, so they must be doing something right. Good range of Italian options, including ice cream.

Zippola ticks all the boxes: great service, delicious food and coffee and a friendly atmosphere. I recommend anything from the breakfast menu but they also have other good dishes such as lasagna and sandwiches.

Staff are very friendly and nice, food is tasty and they serve great coffees! Love the retro/vintage style

Hipster breakfast and real coffee is amazing! Rivals any Shoreditch high street! Consistently high standards. We have used their catering service on weddings, birthdays and anniversaries and anyways have guest complimenting us on the original choices. With the now added bonus of regular entertainment they have really enhanced the area. If you haven’t been to a show there go immediately!

Can’t believe the review below as we had 100% the opposite experience. It’s a quirky, charming experience that livens up this area. The aracini balls are as good as the ones we ate in Sicily! It’s clear how much love is put into the cafe by its owners. A must for cafe culture aficionados.

Just been to Zippola for the first after meaning to for a long time, as so many people have recommended it. I ordered a Melanzane Parmigiana qhichich is usually one of my favourite dishes. I waited a considerable time for it, most people who came in after me had been served in the meantime. They tried to bring coffee before the main course, but hadn't bothered to adk when I wanted it.The fact sh when it came was watery in parts and grossly overcooked and rubbery in others. It was the worst Version of a aubergine parmigiana I've ever had the misfortune to eat. They weren't exactly full or busy, but they were extremely slow. And it definitely wasn't, worth the wait.I will b sticking to my usual favourites in Enfield Town in future, Malones and The Artstown could show this place a few tips to improve their food and service 150%.Thats what it would take for me to even consider returning there again. A very disappointing experience I hope neitherInor anybody else has to ensure the likes of that any time soon. Jack R.

Really liked our visit here. Didn’t have any staff issues (as mentioned in some other reviews) - perhaps it depends on what day of the week and therefore who’s working? It was a Sunday and the staff were very friendly. I agree, it’s not the cleanest place - our table was rather sticky and menus a bit grubby, but we happily overlooked that as it’s such a cute cozy little place and busy too! We stayed some time and never felt rushed, which is great when you’re catching up with old friends and got lots to talk about!Good and varied menu to suit any tastes. I love and far prefer to support an eclectic, privately owned place over a chain any time. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

popped in here for snack and coffee. The food was good but the service wasn't. The girls were not friendly in fact quite off hand. The tables weren't as clean as they could have been, they seem to clear the table but not wipe it. I would eat there again as the food was good with a good choice but I would be happier to go back if the staff were happier

This place is a real treasure that has been let down by always being dirty. Crumbs over the seats, dirty tables, but wonderful food and drink. The two men that run it are wonderful, really nice people and it’s worth visiting for the food and drink. The blond lady working there seems helpful, but the other staff seem unmotivated to do anything proactive between customers and are not very friendly. It’s a shame because with some more cleaning and gusto this place would be amazing!

lots of goodies on offer to eat, and also gluten free. Eclectic mix of furniture, makes me feel I'm at my Gran's house! relaxing and informal and a firm favourite with the locals

I come here a lot with friends and family because for a lunch venue it's so much better than a generic chain. Their hipster eggs are always fabulous and they home bake the best banana bread I've ever tasted!

I came here this morning to treat my wife to breakfast, as part of her Birthday Celebration. We stayed for at least an hour and a half, enjoying quality food (eggs benedict, scrambled eggs on sourbread with pancetta) and drinks (2 lattes, 2 cappuccinos) in a relaxing atmosphere.

If you want a quirky place to eat lunch thats got a great vibe and delicious food then look no further.

I have visited Zippola on several occasions now whilst out with my newborn baby.

Met an old friend for lunch in Zippola today. The food was lovely and the tea came in a cute little teapot with teacups. The decor is very charming- fitting for somewhere much cooler than Enfield :). We spoke for hours and weren't rushed along or made to feel inconvenient. I think we're really lucky to have such a great little place on our doorstep

I have been going to Zippola on and off since it opened. It’s not a favourite because the service is generally extremely slow even when it’s quiet. However, after my last visit I won’t be returning. The usual slow service even though it was empty. Rock hard panini that was over done and unpleasant to eat. Very stale and dry cake. All very expensive, not good quality and not good customer service. Having read other reviews it seems that the food and service is very inconsistent. It’s a pity because it looks like a nice place and the owner seems lovely. A few small changes is all it would take!

I’ve been meaning to visit for ages. Lovely eclectic furnishings, charming hosts, great food and wonderful coffee. A cut above the rest. Well worth a visit

Visited with the family for breakfast on a Saturday. We went for the hipster (poached eggs on avocado and seeded toast with crispy pancetta & chilli), eggs royale and toasted croissant with ham and cheese. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection with gooey orange centres. The eggs royale was really generous with huge hunks of seeded toast. The croissant looked a bit flat from being toasted but tasted great. Accompanying hot chocolates and flat white were also good. Service was fast and the decor was comfy and quirky. We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve no idea why I haven’t been in here before! We only popped in for an afternoon snack, but so glad we did. It’s like stepping back into the 50’s. An eclectic mix of furniture, felt like we were sitting in someone’s living room on a sofa and the TV in its lovely old cabinet. Staff were friendly and polite, great coffee (which I do not say lightly), loved my toasted panattone and my husband seemed quite enamoured by his mismatched teapot and crockery.

If I could give a 4.5 this would be more reflective of my experience.

Firstly, this is a lovely cafe. The food is amazing, always served quickly, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. However, sadly, it is often taken over by mothers who seem to have mistaken it for a playgroup. Being a mum myself I am entirely sympathetic towards the need for somewhere to go, just to get out of the house, and often come here myself with my baby. The problem arises when people let their kids shriek, climb on the furniture, drag out all the toys and leave them on the floor, and play board games that involve screaming, shouting and cheering. First and foremost this is a cafe and should be treated as such. When I bring my baby here I am respectful of others and leave if he won't stop crying. I recognise that others come here to relax and, whilst a certain level of noise is to be expected, I am aware that the cafe isn't there purely to meet the needs of me and my baby. I only wish others would take the same approach.

He visitado este encantador café un par de veces con mis hijos (sí, son muy bienvenidos aquí es un café pequeño, así que tiene sentido que el uso de las familias) y tengo que decir que el servicio es estupendo, y la comida es fabulosa. Algunos auténticos platos sabrosos muy bien hecho! He visto que la noche abierta de mic con mi marido (sin niños) y nos lo pasamos genial, la comida era buenísima, el servicio era amable y los propietarios eran como divertido, acogedor y agradable como siempre! Perfecto para un pequeño negocio local independiente y original! Como un sentimiento de comunidad! Bien, el talento es una mezcla de cosas, pero lo principal es todo el mundo estaba dando, y la pequeña multitud de apoyo.

Eaten there several times. Food is of a high standard and some interesting choice of dishes. Service always reasonably quick and the staff very pleasant. very unusual decor and style, with a mix of colours that are relaxing. Recommend any of the Egg based breakfasts.

Decided to give this place a go today as I was in the area and had read and heard such good things about it. Unfortunately I have to say I was very disappointed. Service was friendly enough, if a little reserved. I had a latte and my companion chose a breakfast tea. These were OK, but not exceptional. We looked at the cakes in the sideboard, and I decided on a piece of the orange cake, whilst he went for a blueberry muffin. The muffin was fine, if a little mass-produced (I go to these places to get things that I can't readily get on the high street). Sadly, the orange cake was extremely dry, almost inedible really. So, overall, it most definitely did not live up to my expectations.

I have read reviews and was surprised that people moan about the number of childrenThere, it is not there fault, also the decor and mix n match of crockery...ummmm that is the whole idea.We loved it the atmosphere the coffee the food and the quirkiness is what makes it special mot the clinical nature of the huge chains. LOVE IT

This place does lovely coffee, great panini's and a nice selection of pastries etc. Everything they do is of a good standard but the interior is a bit miss matchy for my taste and the customer service is distinctly average.Great for a friend meet up for coffee and it's very popular with the locals!

This is a great place to have brunch, lunch or just tea and cakes. The good food and "granny chic" vintage styling makes a real change from the usual dull cafes in the Gordon Hill/Enfield Town area. Eggs Florentine were superb and the Eggs Hipster were a nice change

Lovely place for brunch and coffees! Great selection of food, well-presented and reasonably priced, lovely authentic sweets and proper coffee. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the place is child-friendly. Love how the cafe has been decorated, the quirkiness really stands out from all the uninspiring chain coffee shops. We have just had a wonderful afternoon tea with fabulous atmosphere fantastic food and attentive staff. Zippola is a fantastic cafe a great addition to Lancaster Road.

What an unusual cafe... with a victorian theme. The counter, the music deck, the drink cabinet, the sofas and table and chairs. Lovely atmosphere with great service. Everything is explained if you have never been there, which we hadn't. Quick lunch time visit. But very much worth it. Ate, talked and laughed and still made it back to work in time. Regards recommended.

I'm so lucky to live round the corner from zippola and I've watched it blossom and thrive since it opened. My favourite are the arancini which are the best arancini I've ever had. Their cappuccino are also the best.

Amazing poached eggs; decent coffee (a bit pricey?); friend was disappointed with his panini; cold; lovely decor; friendly staff; amazing banana bread (I'm biased ;) ).

Have eaten brunch here as well as just popping in for coffee. The food is fresh and there is a variety. Hot and cold drinks served. Comfy atmosphere. Staff are friendly. Not sure if reasonable prices of food but certainly is nice. Go regularly

We hired the venue for a private birthday party. Zippola provided a really nice buffet and birthday cake. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, making the evening a success. I'd definitely use the venue again and would happily recommend Zippola. Thank youJames

Met friends here for Sunday brunch and it is a lovely place . The staff are pleasant and helpful. The menu is different which is a nice change . Lots of hot and cold beverages to chose from . Stayed a couple of hours and will definitely be going back .

I have been here many times. I've introduced family and friends who have all loved it. Food and drinks, although a little expensive are well worth it and the service is both friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere and well furnished. Nothing more to say really!

I had heard many complimentary things about this place so i went with a friend for Sunday breakfast. Zippola is a lovely quirky coffee shop,very friendly staff,relaxed atmosphere and welcoming.The food is really good especially the rustic,seeded bread we had with our poached eggs.I am definitely going back there,highly recommended this place. It's also Independent which I am passionate about!!

Nice place! To many kids it's like walking into a kids play group! With some Mothers and fathers obvious to other people in there! Just remember it's not just for you and your kids!!

Met a friend here for lunch today, I live local but had never been here until today, it's very inviting , good food, nice service and I would definitely recommend, I will be returning.

Went to Zippola with my sister and her two grandsons ( my great nephews) for evening food and coffee. Lovely atmosphere and family friendly. Have been here before this visit but wanted to return as it is so comfortable and inviting. Staff are exceptional and professional whilst being very friendly. My great nephews had food which they thoroughly enjoyed and my sister and I had coffee. Had a fun time playing hangman after the food. Will return.

To celebrate a special birthday, I organised Afternoon Tea for 27 family and friends at Zippola. The owner could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and we met twice to plan the party. On the day, the cafe was beautifully set up, with a wonderful atmosphere. Tea, with scones, jam and cream, was delightful. Cakes and savouries were delicious. Everyone loved it. The atmosphere is retro and cosy, and the food is delicious.

Afternoon lunch, scattered trinkets around, an unexpected place in Enfield.. Easily sat for a couple of hours ending with some southern Sicilian sweets. Awesome staff, cool little space and food for the tummy and eyes. Little Italy in Enfield!

We visited Zippola for lunch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Stepping into Zippola is like stepping into a lovely old-world sitting room that envelopes you with warmth and makes you smile. The cafe is cosy, furnished with lovely pieces of classical furniture put together really elegantly, beautiful lampshades and knick-knacks scattered around the place. We sat at one of the bigger tables for 5 next to the large bay-window which trapped the warmth of the sun - but there are also little nooks and crannies in different places where you could curl up on a sofa with a book and something delicious and scrumptious off the menu. The coffees are amazing and the hot chocolate (I took the orange flavoured one) was to die for! And the food is simply delicious and unashamedly Sicilian - beautiful panini, pasta dishes, veg lasagne, and the breakfast menu - wow! I had the new-entry "Trinacria" and I should say it was more than I expected! The selection of sweets is amazing - we shared a variety of Sicilian almond paste biscuits...to me the pistacchio one is tops! Loved the lemon-filled pastry too! Prices are very reasonable, considering the genuineness of the products offered and the dedication and work put into them. This is without a doubt a place to return to over and over again! Well done to the whole team! How I wish I lived just round the corner...

This coffee shop is fantastic. Oldy worldy type of chairs. Nice and comfortable. The owner and staff are all lovely and very helpful. I have been in here a couple of times with my grandchildren and they love it. Would visit here more often but I don't live in Enfield and not always in the area.

I went to zippola on Halloween for a coffee and was delighted to see such a lovely atmosphere very friendly staff.I tried there freshly made biscuit and a Illy espresso .Definitely going again.

At the moment this is definitely the best cafe in Enfield. The atmosphere is cost, staff are friendly and it is not too expensive. I go regularly for the coffee, which is hands down the best in Enfield. Worth travelling to Lancaster Road for! On occasion I've had their food, which is freshly prepared each day. Authentically Italian. I recommend their vegetable lasagne with a salad. Great pastries too. Only regret is that they have stopped serving their Italian version of an English breakfast, which was lovely! However, do try their eggs florentine.

Visited Zippola with my great nephew who is 4 years old on 10/09/2015. This is a lovely little coffee shop. Very nice ambience and staff were excellent. Very child friendly with a few games, toys and books. The coffee was very good if a little warm. I mentioned this to the staff and hope that next visit I will ask for it to be hot. My nephew had a cold drink pear juice which was delicious, he also had a croissant. We spent about an hour there and it was very peaceful. Although Zippola is on a main road it is still relatively quiet. Will return.

You are sitting in your parents front room supping a coffee, having a bite to eat, relaxing music in the background, you may even want to sit in the lovely garden. You can have all this at Zippola, it has the same feel.Worth every penny, with excellent service as well

Love this place. A really good addition to Lancaster Road. I've been several times with my family and on my own. The coffee is fantastic and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly. The breakfast is particularly good. Long live Zippola!

Really delicious aubergine dish for lunch followed by pistachio croissant and really nice coffee. Place has lot of vintage furniture & mirror items. Service excellent.

I looked at a review that was placed by Maria M, the other day and was quite surprised as I have nothing but praise for the wonderful food, staff, decor and atmosphere.I guess at times we have to be a bit patient if there they are busy, which too me is a good sign, we wouldn't go into a place that was empty, as is empty for a reason.I love the coffee, and everything is so fresh that it is like eating Italian food in an Italians family home. Love it, Love it and will be back there as much as possible

As you enter this quirky cafe you are immediately felt welcome. Happy staff and true authentic food. Great coffee served and a good choice of food. They have some great entertainment evenings as well. This has become a favourite of mine from the start. Definitely worth a visit.

A couple of us had lunch here, food was a group decision of 7/10 , service at counter painfully slow. No assistance offered on our arrival to work out menu which was written on the paper bag , so we were wondering around for a while till another customer explained the system. Not cheap for what it was( sandwich and rice ball with salad, 1 coffee £13 ) but food good enough. Glass of milk came in a sherry glass, quirky but not useful. Dirty plates not cleared and e sat chatting for nearly an hour with them in front of us. Owner does not seem to be experienced front of house , cleaned empty tables but ignored us. We'd have had another drink had it been offered, shop was empty. Won't rush back , other great cafes around like the arts cafe in the town .

We loved them so much we have teamed up with for Children's Brithday Parties. Lovely friendly feeling, cakes to die for and lunches full of flavour - made from the good stuff.

Nice cafe on Lancaster Rd which makes a nice change to greasy spoons/chicken shops. I had a lovely panini which was made with a lovely seeded bread. Coffee was delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming to me and my son - who loved the Italian gelato! Will be back.

This has rapidly become my favourite drop-in place for breakfast or lunch. The coffee is fabulous - try a Franco, with cinnamon on the top. Some gorgeous pastries, and hot fresh wraps, paninis and lots of interesting salads. It's a place for all ages - nice to see yummy mummies getting together with their tinies in tow, or grannies taking grandchildren out for a treat. Some delicious ice-creams to try. Usually there's a great soundtrack, often jazz. The staff are both friendly and highly efficient. I love the mid-century modern feel to the furnishings - curling up in a comfy wing chair with a newspaper is something you can do there for hours!

Dropped into this lovely new cafe the other day: jolly Italian music, super friendly staff going out of their way to please and good coffee. Was most impressed with my delicious chicken, mozzarella, rocket and tomato sandwich - made on a hot granary baguette that had been baked to order. Will be back soon to try the cakes and pastries. They looked great. A giant leap forward for Lancaster Road. Go and support it!

Zippola is my new favourite place for coffee and food. The staff are lovely and really helpful. There's a ramp for my double buggy (not that we needed it as it's only a small step) and my twins are always made to feel welcome. I particularly love their breakfasts and the new Illy Crema which is delicious! Thank you Zippola!

I visit many Coffee Shops and I have never been to one like this, a great atmospheric arena to relax in, the most welcoming of staff. I had a Capucinno to die for and then was asked if I wanted something to eat, so Decided on the Chocolate Brownie, again I was not disappointed.You are not rushed or keep being asked if all is okay. the Fresh Food that is made daily looks so appetising, took some away with me and have now done so on a number of occasions and have had a great culinary experience.Thankyou Zippola and will see you again very very soon.

My friend and I visited this new coffee shops and love the atmosphere. It's like being in a 1930's American/Sicilian theme. Coffee is good and food is fresh. Don't mind having lunch every Saturday at this place.

Zippola is a brand new Italian coffee shop on Lancaster Road Enfield. They serve excellent coffee, not scalding hot like your average Starbucks so you get the proper flavour of the coffee and a great crema on top. I have only tried the decaf but you wouldn't know that it was decaf and I'm sure the regular coffee is as good - its the real deal. They also do amazing and very tempting pastries in all sizes. They would probably break the bank if you tried them all but they do give you the option of having a sweet treat if you are dieting but just can't resist. Those I remember -all the usual, plain croissant, pecan maple danish, pain au chocolat, almond croissant. Then they have more unusual stuff like pistachio cream croissant, nutella croissant, small chocolate twists, tiny little biscuits crammed with various delicious fillings. They also do savoury and breakfast items like porridge but I didn't try these so you will have to sample those for yourself. So, the draw back. Even though its brand new the decor is a little dated. It looks like they have gone for shabby chic and missed slightly, hitting 'retirement home' instead. And both times I have been there there has only been one other person there, admittedly this has been mid morning so not lunch time rush but it did mean it lacked a bit of atmosphere. This will come in time as more people find out about it though so its no biggie. Staff are friendly and seem to know what they are doing. There is no kids area (some might see as a plus!) so you would need to take your own entertainment for the children. I don't think you would get a side by side double buggy through the door but once in it is roomy so a good place for mums to meet for coffee.

Lovely new addition to Lancaster Rd. Serves good coffees, homemade cakes and light lunches in cosy retro surroundings. They have sofas and board games to play too. We need more like this in the area!

Newly opened, Zippola is a gem of a find, if you are looking for a nice cafe, which is warm and comfortable, interesting and welcoming.
