Really good breakfast, bonus having gluten free available

As expected crowded and popular and for a good reason. Good and friendly service and good quality of drinks and snacks. My only concern is that the coffee area is at the front and doesn't look at its best.

Stopped by for a late breakfast. I had the BEST EVER pancake stack with crispy bacon and maple syrup. The ratio of pancake:bacon:syrup was perfect. It was very busy and there was a 40 min wait on food but everything is freshly prepared and is absolutely worth the wait. I counted 9 staff on duty who were working non-stop. Wonderful place, we shall definitely go back! Husband had the full English style breakfast and he loved that too. Great tea and coffee. 5 stars! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Requested a kids pancakes with just fruit as was simple for my diet requiements and chef declined to make it. Would only make adult big portion with sugary cream or nutella

Had the frappe which was amazing! They didn't have vanilla ice cream so we went with coconut and trust me it was delicious! Lovely smiley service, can't go wrong! Thank you so much!

I really like the food here but the pancakes are quite expensive for the size. For comparison moose's coffee that's further down for similar price you get more. It is accessible from Liverpool one though and the staff is great and helpful! I would revisit it.

Have been to Rubens on several occasions previously for a coffee and not had an issue, coffee is well prepared & served promptly, however, we went this morning (Saturday) for breakfast and ordered 2 breakfast bagels, we were told this would be a 45 minute wait, understandable as it is a Saturday morning, and the price is reasonable. It got to the 45 minute mark and we could see that other customers had approached the staff to request when they would be receiving their food, as they had already been waiting longer than expdcted and were understandably confused as their orders were for breakfast sandwiches that should only take around 10-15 minutes to make. We got our food at around the hour mark. The bagels weren’t cut which was strange as it made it difficult to eat. The quality and taste was of a good standard, but not worth the time it took to get to us. The staff were not very attentive. Mostly standing around waiting for food orders instead of asking customers who were waiting if they would like any other drinks etc. We had empty coffee cups on our table for around 45 minutes before asking for them to be taken away, when staff had walked past our table at least a dozen times. The toilet (singular) was quite dark and dingy, anything above eye level or below knee height was quite dirty. It could do with a bit of TLC. TLDR; Good takeout coffee, reasonably priced. If you’re looking for a quick bite on a weekend, go somewhere else.

We stopped here for a coffee while on a cold and windy walk along the water. The cappuccino was hot and delicious. Perfect escape from the cold (and free wifi!).

Awful place manager constantly sneezing not one time did he wash his hands ,staff were awful would not recommend this place to anyone. Take a few further steps to Costa. Needs a deep clean.

Dropped in here for a much needed coffee and cake while out shopping and wasn't disappointed. Good coffee, some lovely cakes and all at a reasonable price. Staff were helpful and friendly so would definitely stop again!

We went here for breakfast on Saturday morning. We were told food would be half an hour wait which was not an issue. Waited for an hour, had to ask them for food again before they served a very sub standard looking English breakfast and a breakfast wrap. Cheap quality and service is shocking. The only thing that was decent was the waitress who exchanged my chai tea latte cos it was cold for a nice coffee. Would definitely not recommend this place

Saw they closed at 5pm so called at 4.20 purchased tea and scones and sat in the seating outside only to be told rudely by a staff member we can’t sit outside there cafe on there seating ??? Obviously the staff wanted to leave early or some other strange reason. Customer service alive and kicking at Rubén’s cafe

Stopped for coffee next to Albert Dock. The taste was a bit too sweet. It might make you dislike it. But watching the view and drinking coffee is good. The weather is cool. Delicious Mocha coffee. Served in a beautiful cup. It was obvious that everyone who works there was happy, the waiters were constantly laughing and talking a lot with customers.

Beautiful cafe, lots of choices for me as a fussy eater. We loved it so much we came back each day of our holiday to try other food.

My favourite place to get coffee and/or brunch in Liverpool. I've been here several times now. The pancake stack and mocha combination is beautiful.

Nice cafe on the docks. Unfortunately breakfast took a very long time. When asked, the manager apologized and there was a free drink for all 3 people. Very great gesture. Food was very good, cappuccino was excellent. Atmosphere in the café is very pleasant

We were there for breakfast. The coffee was the best so far on our trip to England. Unfortunately our order was forgotten. In response to our complaint, we were served free drinks of our choice and then our breakfast shortly afterwards. Mistakes happen in life. We all really enjoyed the breakfast. The prices are typically England, you have to accept that when you visit the country. But we recommend it. The staff were friendly.

Incredibly bad service. Waited for food for over 1 hour after requesting it 3 times. Not recommended if you are hungry 👎

Nice coffee, cake could have been a bit tastier but as fine. Good atmosphere but we were sitting outside and not inside which felt so warm and uncomfortable. Good setting within the Albert Dock. Customer service lacking a bit, definitely not service with a smile. Was asked if I wanted milk with MY coffee but then they forgot to provide it, had to ask again and it felt like they were doing me a favour. My husbands coffee all fine. Not too bad re prices but a smile wouldn’t go amiss.

Great cafe by the docks. Friendly staff, plenty of seating inside and outside. Good range of breakfast served until 12, sandwiches, pancakes until 2.30. Reasonable prices, excellent food. The pancake stack is generous, all cooked fresh.

Bigger than it looks from the outside - plenty of seating round the back. Food and service were excellent.

Came across by accident this morning. It was busy but found a table and ordered breakfast. Was told it would be over 20 minute wait for food however it wasn't that long at all really lovely food. The place is clean and tidy well worth a visit.

Would of expected better for dock side. Not baby friendly as no changing facilities have to do on the floor. Had to ask for 2 of our drinks twice as they forgot. £3.25 for a bottle of 250ml diet coke is disgusting but so hot in there while eating no breeze cool air anywhere so either that or just dehydrate. Staff real don't give a crap attitude about them as well. One of those places for me and my wife would never walk back into butter in the toast smack in the middle and smallest amount I've ever seen. So first time visit and will definitely be last visit as well

If you’re a tourist and need your morning coffee, RUBENS is the earliest opportunity at the Liverpool Albert Dock. It opens at 830 and serves a multitude of delicious pastries. I particularly enjoyed a rich carrot cake and a double espresso. Good prices, comfy chairs, smiling sellers. What else would one need? As a European, I can never get used to separate cold and hot water in the toilet. But it is part of the experience. No complaint there.

Disappointing 👎. After reading the reviews was expecting better than we got! Tomato hard, mushrooms cold and eggs a bit strange. No condiments brought to the table. The food just looked as if it had been slopped on the plate. Won’t be be returning ☹️

Came here for an early brunch before going to the Beatles museum. Nice little cafe tucked away along the dock. Got the eggs Benedict and my partner got the bacon and maple pancakes. Very good fresh food. Got a cappuccino that was lukewarm though which was slightly disappointing but the food made up for it! My partner got the strawberry and banana smoothie which she said was super fresh and refreshing!! Would recommend going here if your in the area

Breakfast was lovely, sat outside and the view was great. They're dog friendly which is an added bonus. My partner had the full english pancakes and i had the maple bacon pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed it. The coffee was really nice aswell couldn't fault it.

Stopped in here for a quick drink..wish we hadn’t…..sat in the back…. Owner (?) decided to load dishwasher…didn’t have the decency to close the door so made horrendous clashing. Ordered toaster took longer than I expected to arrive…….looked/tasted awful….and came with dirty cutler 🤢

Perfect for a coffee break with a sweet treat (in our case scons). The coffee is excellent, the place is pleasantly large and characterized. A place with a lot of character, with a perfect location.

Food was passable but absolutely terrible service. Waited 35 minutes for 2 toasties and 2 halloumi wraps... 35 minutes! And one of the halloumi wraps didn't even come. They refunded it but we were in a rush and it was a terrible experience. Would not recommend.

Awful experience 😔 We ordered breakfast and it took so long, it became lunch We were told it will be 20 mins before we can Oder food, no problem so ordered drinks while waiting. Then told when ordering the food, 20 mins, no problem I expect that at least. 25-30 plus mins later I enquired, and was told another 10 mins, hmmmm ok Then one dish, 2 mins later another dish then we reminded them about the last It came, cold or Luke warm at most I was done, 😔 Manager came and stated my problem was not possible ???????? He was kind enough to give a refund, and I left hungry

Lovely cafe right on the docks with lots of tables. Delicious Victoria Sponge cake with a cup of tea and my hubby enjoyed his cooked breakfast. Good selection of cakes on the counter too.

This is the best place to have your breakfast and start your day exploring Liverpool. The staff are very friendly. They have a live kitchen where you can watch the Chefs cooking some excellent breakfast for you. I ordered a hot chocolate and croissant. The croissant was really nice, but the hot chocolate arrived warm. However the taste and quality was good. Would definitely visit again to try their English breakfast during the Summer so that I can sit outside and enjoy watching the docks 😊

Called in for a coffee. 2 adults 2 kids. Was told there a twenty minute wait for food. No problems. Ordered 3 hot chocolates and food. When the hot chocolates arrived they were nearly warm! , not hot. The food was a hour! Not 20 mins, and there were at least 4 tables who came in after us that were served and left before we had our food brought out, which was brought out at different times, so I was just starting as my son was sat waiting. The food did take an hour to arrive but to be honest was really nice. Shame about the service.

Great place for breakfast and coffee to start your day in Liverpool.

This was the 2nd time we have eaten at Ruben's and both times were the same, The staff are not over friendly, we asked for the table to be cleaned and both me and my husband thanked the girl, she never even looked at us or said anything. I used the 1 toilet they had and it was filthy no toilet paper available, hand tissues all over the floor wasn't a nice experience. They weren't that busy so no excuse, so we are definitely not going back and would recommend the staff had training on how to treat customers and give them the feeling they are welcomed and make them want to return, something we won't be doing again.

Friendly staff with good food, fairly priced. The service was extremely rapid, we'd barely settled and the food arrived! Excellent. Really nice location in the brickwork docks right by the main museums. Main dining room is warm and welcoming. Quality and quantity of food was very good, would recommend over the competition in the area.

The food is great. Clean place. There are plenty of staff all around doing jobs and cleaning. Only 1 toilet, though, but it's relatively clean. Cheap too.

Superb vegetarian English breakfast prepared by talented chefs served with a smile. The manager went over and above to make sure everything is perfect. In fact, Rubén’s was so welcoming our dog loved it there too. I will definitely be coming back with my senior club. Wonderful place.

Please ensure your diners are not cold while you are bringing in the delivery. The back door was left open way too long. It made my breakfast cold also.

Unfortunately, their main bagel which is the New York Bagel used cheap meat. They say spicy beef but it was the same quality that you buy in a packet. No urgency with staff and slow to make the food. If this is their best item then I would look elsewhere. I cannot recommend.

Very poor, waited 25 minutes for a very small bland pathetic baguette and they couldn’t even be bothered to put cheese on it! Young staff who I feel need to be supervised. Music far too loud, not an enjoyable experience! Stay clear!!!

At the till SLOW Waiting for food SLOW. Food good thou but when you get it, you're in a rush to eat. As they have just stole 1hr of your day.

Lovely early morning breakfast, in the sun by the water. Great value for money, excellent quality ingredients used. Service was quick, warm and friendly. Lovely little cafe we stumbled across. Will definitely be back when we come back to Liverpool.

Had the most delicious breakfast wraps on Sunday. Wow, they were absolutely wonderful and not too expensive £6.95 each. Tea and coffee nice too. Definitely recommend. 😀

I get places near the docks are on the expensive side but honestly for the price the food and drinks could be a LOT better. There are much better cafes in Liverpool. This cafe was rather average. Also the wait time was long!

Very reasonably priced and friendly and attentive staff. Ordered a coffee and a croissant which was £5, unfortunately while sat outside a seagull swooped my croissant away from me. The staff offered to replace it for free and insisted when I said there’s no need. Great service and the atmosphere inside was lovely.
