Portlock Weir is a heavenly little harbour in Somerset. It is captivating my beautiful and surrounded by beautiful walls. There are only a few places to eat, and this place is wonderful. Authentic, delicious food, served as street food, so take out. Lots of space to sit by the harbour. Yum yum! No wonder it is a travellers choice winner.

We passed through Porlock Weir while on a trip somewhere else, trying to find somewhere to let the dog have a swim - and we chanced upon Ziang's. All I can say is I'm delighted the fates aligned that day! That was some of the best noodle-based cuisine I've had in absolute years! Freshly made, generous portions, and great ingredients/recipes. Simply outstanding.

We were staying in Porlock Weir after a day walking and were not sure what we would be eating for dinner as it is such a tiny place. Have to say the food from Ziangs was the most wonderful end to our day. Tasty and freshly cooked. We both had laksa with rice noodles. The fruit drinks were also a taste sensation ! Eaten at the table outside with a sea view, who could ask for more.

Called in to Porlock Weir so the wife could have some fresh oysters for lunch and with Ziang's being the only other place nearby open (The Gallery Café was closed due to staff shortage) I opted for the Vodka Battered Fish and Chips Wow what a refreshing change to seaside fish and chips! The batter was so light and crisp with perfect French fries and delightful chilli dipping sauce, all cooked fresh to order and delivered to the outside table, fantastic lunch

What a find! We enjoy the food in the West Country, but there's only so many pasties and portions of fish and chips I can eat, particularly as I don't really eat that food at home. I was rather surprised, and delighted to find Ziangs in Porlock Weir. The food was completely delicious, with great service and friendly staff. I'd have been happy eating that laksa in Asia, let alone on a dorset beach. More businesses should take note and think about diversifying their food offerings as it was extremely popular!

I to have been to Ziang's on a few occasions and also had their Thai food. I would agree with Pegasus1664 that it is not quite as authentic as the street food you will find in Thailand. I would not say it is bad, in fact, to the contrary, it is very good. I personally have eaten street food in the far east for over 40 years and the food in Malaysia is very different from what you will find in Thailand. Thai's use a lot more chillies in their food. It is also the aroma of the dish not the heat of the chillies that give you the first impression of Thai food, they always use kaffir limes leaves/ rind to flavour their curries. Plus small Thai eggplant, palm sugar and Thai basil, they also use shallots, not onions. The owners of Ziangs I understand are Chinese Malay from Brunei and their idea of a Thai curry is not what I would I call authentic. I personally recommend Ziangs as they do an excellent job of producing oriental food but with a Chinese twist. The time I went their curries were just over £8 which I thought was very reasonable

The owner can could smile a bit more and the male waiter good have a bit more manners. We used to always have a china bowels to eat out of but it is now served in a cheap plastic dish. I was absolutely delighted to stumble across this charming restaurant last year. On a dingy rainy day in rural Somerset it really was a surprise to find a place that did both fish and chips and oriental/Asian fusion cuisine! I have tried the chips and several curry dishes and I cannot fault a single one. They make a huge effort to cater for all dietary and allergy requirements, the prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. For me though the best thing about this place is how great it is to have both British and Asian cuisine done so brilliantly all in one place! I would recommend this place to anyone.

I reviewed the White Horse on the 18 April 24 when it re-opened after a period of failure. It was wonderful then just to have the pub open for drinks but now Lisa and Tim have a limited menu serving meals from Thursdays to Saturdays evenings and Sunday lunches. Some friends dropped into stay the other night and treated us to a Sunday lunch at the pub, the first since re-opening, which was not just good but exceptional. The beef was first rate with five vegetables beautifully cooked. The place was booked out and all by locals enjoying great hospitality filling the room with animated conversation. We shall be going again as soon as we can! On Mondays our 1759 Guinness Club is now able to regain our home in Stogumber’s White Horse. Last night we met to enjoy Irelands greatest stout and gained a fair few members. Word is spreading!

A very good dog friendly pub with rooms. Rooms clean, food brilliant, friendly staff and dogs allowed everywhere. Only thing that could be improved is the guest entrance to the hotel, very tired and need of updating. Otherwise a brilliant stay!
