Thank you so much The Old Ship Aground. for hosting our wedding reception. Lisa-Lee did everything she could to arrange the back room to meet our needs, paying attention to every little detail. We had the carvery and, as well as being delicious, there was loads to eat. Giant Yorkshire puddings yum 😋. All staff were friendly and welcoming. It was a perfect venue for a perfect day! Highly recommend.

Great food and service couldn't ask for more !

Been in The Old Ship Aground twice this year so far. Both times then Thatchers Gold has been flat, I mentioned to the staff and they told me it was how it always is. It wasn't. Other than that pleasant enough.

We came here for my husbands 40th tonight and had a fab time. Service and food was amazing. Lisa-Lee and her staff did everything to accommodate us with us being a big group of 24. Highly recommend. Thankyou for everything

Nice food and good service and right next to the beach

Old style pub located on the harbour. Not so busy in these winter months but in the summer it gets very busy. The fish and chips were excellent.

Walked in the ship and what a lovely welcome from all the staff very good beer and the food was delicious very friendly locals to chat to josh behind the bar was very professional and friendly would definitely recommend this pub and stay there next time we're in minehead.

We went for the Sunday carvery and it was delicious. There was plenty of choice and everything seemed to be freshly prepared

It was a great find, friendly welcome and great seating layout particularly those with a dog. The pub had a very welcoming feel. We went for lunch, starter and main. Everthing came out in good time. The starters were fine and so was the main 'italian chicken' however the main 'mushroom and tarragon linguine' was not, it was described as creamy mushroom, it was far from creamy but instead swimming in oil. After the food had been eaten the plate was still full of greasy oil. This is not how creamy mushroom linguine is presented. We did highlight this to the server and they did say it would be mentioned to the chief. I hope it was as it made one of us feeling ill an hour later. To the owner, please sit down and try all your meals or get feedback from you customers to get things right. Maybe the creamy sauze was forgot. Would have loved to have given 4 or 5 stars but the dodgy meal meant 3 stars.

Stayed overnight at this pub on a Friday and it's a very nice place to look out over Minehead bay. Tucked away on the west side near the lifeboat station, a quieter end off the bay during the peak season I'm guessing, but at the time we visited, it's was all quiet (even the arcades weren't open). The room was nicely decorated and very spacious, and the bathroom was spotless. It was a pity that we didn't fully read the in-room info as it mentioned additional blankets / heaters were available if required. With two sets of wooden, single glazed french doors onto the balcony, and only a smallish radiator in the room (plus being one of the coldest nights of the winter so far) it was a bit chilly when we arrived. This wasn't an issue once in bed and under the covers. In the summer I can see the balcony being a great place to sit out on and you could certainly enjoy the sight over the front of the pub and just watch the world go by. Breakfast was good, with a wide selection of food to choose from. We didn't eat in the on the night we stayed as we went out for stroll around the town and chose to eat there. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Gone downhill Since changing hands. We reserved a table to have a meal Saturday evening. Food wasn't worth the money at all £16 for a mediocre pie hard crust, Mediterranean chicken was just tomato based sauce with cheese sprinkled on top. From starter to desserts it was disappointing overpriced microwaved pre cooked food, cake had hard bits like it had been reheated. On a plus The waitress was friendly but sadly manager wasn't, had a bit of a snarky attitude. Then to top all off after 2 hours told we had to leave as the next people wanted our table!! We was celebrating a 70th birthday, Unable to stay at our table enjoying drinks together after a meal. We will not be visiting again. We will definitely be finding a new local.

We didn't stay here but we had a lovely meal here. Staff were lovely very welcoming. Pretty old pub.

I always go here when in Minehead. The Winter's Tale ale was excellent, perfect on a winter evening.

We escaped a crazy weekend at Bulims for Sunday lunch. This place was just what we needed, cosy with a great cavery!

Very nice Sunday Roast for £14.50 2 meat and loads of veg. Ordered a large white wine and charged us £22. Went back and said she charged for a bottle so refunded the difference. Pity also the one young waitress constantly coughing but carried on serving.

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch here Yorkshire puddings were the best , . Great staff and a real fire was a bonus. Even our dog had some he loved the beef

The staff is friendly and committed throughout! 👌 The room is very spacious. Of course it's getting old, but that's part of the charm. The room is a bit too cool, the heating doesn't turn on. You could certainly ask. The food in the pub was good average. Compared to many other similar pubs, the portion is a bit too small. All in all: a good recommendation. 😄🤙

Fantastic service and really good food and everyone was really accommodating of our dogs. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely outstanding. To round off possibly the best fish and chips we've ever had (cooked perfectly, not too oily, not too dry) the very kind staff found and saved a story our son had written and left behind, then kept it safe for us until we came back. Plenty of board games, good for families and dog friendly. Great spot at the top of the harbour too.

Lovely pub right up on the harbour. Lots of character. Lovely pints. Food looked and smelt great. Definitely worth a visit. Even better in the sun.

Typically English pub facing the fishing port. A great place in good weather to admire Minehead Bay. Classic pub meal with choice of burgers and other dishes to share or not. Good choice of beers. Only problem is the service. First we pay before having lunch. This is the first time I've seen this except at MC Do. Then we go get our beer at the counter and bring it to ourselves on the terrace. Meanwhile the waitresses and waiters are going around in circles in the pub!!

Had drinks and a Sunday lunch on two visits. Excellent food and good service. Staff not perfect as they were new (for the season) landlord was training well. Best Sunday lunch I've had for longer then I can remember.

We had a drink and a meal, service was friendly, food was lovely and the atmosphere pleasant.

Missed out on the food but the beer was good my partner said. I'm on crutches so found it difficult to take drinks outside and was offered no assistance and my partner had to go in for it ( we have a dog, so he was outside with her). It started raining so the young lad did come outside to put all the table umbrellas up. Would like to go back for food at some point as the menu looked good.

My sister-in-law and I booked a room It was very clean spacious apart from the bathroom Which was very small . The TV was on the wall Straight in front of the door, but you couldn’t watch it because you couldn’t see the screen. There is a door with a unit in front of it which somebody pushed opened, frightened us both think there should be a lock put on quite frightening apart from that good stay breakfast excellent

Lovely pub great company 😊👍 BUT staff / service terrible spent most of their time on mobiles food took over 30 mins to arrive when it did chips cold fish well over done never got offered desserts after 1/2 hr sorted ourselves 👎total waste of £160.00 live local never eat or recommend again. Sorry but gone downhill since take over.

Wouldn't recommend and won't be coming back. The service was poor, verging on rude at points. When a member of staff didn't know the answer about an up coming event they couldn't be courteous enough to offer to go and find out by asking someone that did. The food was average but pricey based on the quality and quantity. The "daily" sea food special was on the printed menu but was so special it wasn't available to order. No apology just a "we ain't doing that today". The soup of the day was described as carrot with something green..... The slow roasted pork belly, was served in insipid gravy and the meat was more like salted cured bacon than pork. The puddings had been heated and then left before serving to the point they were luke warm and all the ice cream had melted.

Very nice food with vegan options for our friend. Very nice service.

You have to book a table "sorry it has been taken" so seated in a residents area. After 45 mins food arrived "sorry problems in the kitchen". My steak Stilton and mushroom pie was over baked, had 2 cubes of meat one piece of mushroom and lots of empty space. My partners comment on her meal was I have had worse. Definitely not a good end to our 4 days in Minehead.

Very warm welcome and friendly staff, great selection of real ales and lovely outdoor seating area. So much better than anything in the centre of Minehead.

Visited the pub twice. Once for food, the other for an afternoon beer after a local walk. Really nice food. Reasonably priced. Good selection of food for adults and children. Good beer selection as well and friendly staff

Lovely place to stay! We had the king room, with a great bed. The atmosphere was very nice, as well as the food and the delicious breakfast. Nice staff!

Popped in for a drink after a long walk on a warm sunny day. The location is outstanding as it overlooks the harbour area with a fabulous view of the bay. Drinks very reasonably priced and good choice. Plenty of outside seating to choose from.

Very poor customer service. Our drinks order had been forgotten by the bar staff. Food was bland and overpriced. Our feedback was passed onto the staff but I would be surprised if it reached the correct ears

Nice location for Minehead, a decent inn with good food. Rooms are decently priced with breakfast.

We booked a table for our evening meal. Three of us, myself, husband and adult son. I had the beef burger with bacon and cheese and fries and coleslaw. Very nice burger. Son had honey roasted sausages and mash and thick gravy, which he said was also very nice. For desserts, son had chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice-cream. Which he said was delicious. The young female staff were pleasant and efficient. Would recommend for a meal if you are in Minehead, but need to book in advance, as last night we couldn't get a table with short notice. Today we booked early in the day.

Sunday carvery quite tasty although some of the veg were not as enjoyable as I hoped, perhaps due to our pre booked visit being at the end of the day. Cant comment on rooms as we were there just for a meal

Absolutely brilliant. Good value, old fashioned pub food. Very refreshing. Petits pois peas were the first winner, it's the little things that count. The crumble and custard was a 10/10 . Warm and friendly service. Scrupulous clean.

Stayed 3 nights B and B what can I say , the rooms ,clean ,well maintained, facilities good , the rooms are cleaned to a high standard and quite frankly.attention to detail is faultless and from a former owner of a cleaning organisation, very professional The staff are friendly and charming. The food is nothing short of excellent. To sumerise, we had an enjoyable stay considering I was recovering from an illness and was room bound , . We will be returning next year . The staff are very helpful and genuinely care and go the extra Mike to help you . if you can get the rooms with a balcony do it so can sit and watch the world go by in this quiet ideal gem of a location OH and fairly priced HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Lovely little pub next to the harbour. Only had a drink and every table looked full with people for food so shows the food could be nice however didn't have a meal. Staff friendly and the toilets were clean. Would recommend 👍

Rude staff. 4 of us went in for a drink and some food. A few tables reserved, so picked a table of 4 that clearly wasn't. Half way through our first drink at 5:56pm, we were told the table was needed to be clear for a table of 2 food booking at 6pm! Not "sorry, would you mind moving to one of the other free tables". Needless to say, we left. Their loss, 4 meals and repeat business.

Service was very slow despite there appearing to be no one else eating. I tried the real ale but was of poor quality, I therefore had a standard lager which was flat like it was served in a dirty glass. The food was average at best when it eventually arrived.Overall a very disappointing experience.

Super location next to the harbour. Standard pub menu you might expect, but very nicely presented with very generous portion sizes.

The most delicious burgers I've had in a long, long, time. Great spot, great view, great atmosphere, great service, such welcoming staff, me and my wife were given a table even though the place was fully booked. Thank you.

Had a lovely meal here 13th April. Friendly staff. Didn't get a receipt and realised when I got home we had been charged twice for drinks, paid by cash and then charged again by card when paying for the meal. So although I would recommend check your receipt. 😊

Had a pleasant meal here with friends. For generally pretty good but mussels (in a delicious sauce) were tough and overcooked.

Booked a table as it was a Saturday night. We were seated quickly, given a choice of table location. We chose from the daily specials menu and the meals came quickly and we're delicious. A bonus was that dogs are not just "allowed" but really welcomed. Bruce loved the fusses and a supply of treats. Thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. Being local and having eaten a few times before we will definitely be back.

No idea why they dont add a few tables in the front bar which is large so folk can at least sit down and put there pint somewhere. Staff looked frazzled and overworked and it wasnt even busy. Real ale is all Badger. Minehead is really lacking a decent privately owned freehouse but i guess thats a sign of the times.

Been here a couple of times. They used to have fresh seafood, mussels, dressed crab but is now it’s generic burgers and chips. The ciabatta sandwiches are poor and for £11.50 they were overpriced. Really disappointed and won’t be back.

I stopped off here to eat in the pub whilst on a little road trip. The pub is set in a nice little Bay Area. We used the street parking behind which was reasonably priced (certainly compared to London prices!). We had the halloumi burger and 2 steak pie dishes. Both types of dish were very nicely prepared. The steak in the pie was very tender. The plates and cutlery were clean and aesthetically pleasing. The meal including 1 alcoholic drink and 2 soft drinks was £56. There was also a pile of games - we played some cards. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Would recommend!

Nice place with nice views to the sea. The staff was really friendly and nice. The atmosphere is very cozy. Burger and meat with rice was fine and the bar has a lot of history.

Just went in for drink and to decide what food to have man at bar told us to take seat. Half way through our drink lady came and told us to move. No reserved sign on table to say it was booked. Would have appreciated another table. Ut woman was t interested in finding out if there was. So left

Had fish and chips…, at the old ship a ground .. because of there reputation on a good food Guide online.. when the meal came., I did expect real homemade fried potato chips., & not 10.., Yes 10, Frozen McKays, type chips.. not nice.. I did point this out the Waiter.,, only to Say no that’s wrong..He went directly into the kitchen.., To come back and say that’s how we do it now..no apologies… I could have gone to spoons for the same meal for half the price..or a local chippy take-a-way. Very Disappointed.., oh yes the pea’s we’re sloppy too.. sorry for bad Review.. The fish 🐟 was nice.., but overall the chips and peas were half of the meal. I was left hungry after leaving.. 10 frozen chips 🍟 .. 😣 .. O,S,A. please don’t reply to my comments.. There’s no excuses.
