Zeenat Kebabish Restaurant in Coventry

Loved this - I was out with the lads in Coventry after a film shoot for the day and my friend Shaid suggested this excellent place. I had mattar paneer with tandoori roti. It tasted so good and the customer service too was excellent. I will be returning here to eat again soon.

Went with family all the way from Birmingham was very disappointing with the cod masala fish it smelled bad. Had the afghani balti which taste or flavour to it. The service was so bad had to wait so long for food to come. Had to go back couple times to find out what had happened to the nan we had ordered. Only for it to turn up after we finished eating. Also the waiter was not intrested when we had asked where our food was. Definitely will not be going there again. Just a shame can't give it a zero feedback..

They don’t provide tap water and forcing people of buy tap water . Saying government asked them to serve only bottled water . What a disappointing level of greediness .

This is a authentic Pakistani restaurant in my opinion and I found the staff friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and well made, especially the kebab which was authentic as you could get. The mains were also spot on. We sat upstairs and I’m not quite sure if there is seating downstairs. This is somewhere I would visit again if I was in the area.

One of the worst food I have ever tried in my life. I politely mentioned to the guy that the food was having funny smell and was disgusting. I was embarrassed in front of my guests when I served these. The man in charge whatsoever, he said it is perfectly fine to consume and he put in the bin. There should be a minimum decency to at-least hear out the customer and apologise and try to sort the complaint. Very very disappointed and unacceptable behaviour. Avoid at all costs.

This place is disgusting. The resatraunt is dirty like it hadnt been cleaned all week. Asked for a table for 2 and got told to go upstairs, find one and take a seat. No social distancing no face masks by staff. Food was awful and sickening. Popadoms were dripping oil. Seekh kebabs were not cooked. Tikka was burnt and the curry was tastless. The chapatti was so hard you could confuse it for a popadom.

As always food cooked to perfection! Would recommend the lamb chops, chicken wings and chapli kebab. Just as good when you takeaway!

Easily the worst place I've been, the customer service was shocking and the food was terrible. I went their with my missus and before going I had a table reserved a few days ago, upon arrival there wasn't any tables ready for us, the table that was given was in the middle of a lot of people, so they don't even follow social distancing guidelines. I then ordered some food and I then called the waiter over because I wanted to add somosas to my meal but the waiter said that they were out of somosas, I though that was strange so I asked another waiter and he said, stay with me here, "The somosas are frozen so they'll take a long time to make, order something else" I was incredible surprised by that response, regardless I carried on because I didn't want to ruin my night out with my wife. When the food arrived the chips were showered in salt, my steak was dry and flavorless, my wifes steak was incredibly salty which I told the waiter and he said theres nothing they can do about it, he then appeared irritated that I was telling him that the steak was salty? He was responded in a harsh tone and kept saying "Can't do anything bro" the chicken shish kebabs we ordered tasted microwaved and all in all the food was TERRIBLE. Best thing I had was the Rubicon Guava I ordered but even that was kinda warm. SAVE YOUR MONEY, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, I RECOMMEND 351 AND TAKSIMS

Was in Coventry for work an a colleague recommended Zeenat. It’s not a posh restaurant. Who cares! It is a takeaway that you can eat in at, which may be off putting BUT.... The guys were very kind, got us a table at the back of the restaurant, and they were very pleasant, gave recommendations off the menu, food was lovely, a mixture of meats, curries, rices and breads. We were very happily filled and we felt very good value for money.

Food is average and over priced for what it is. Curries are mediocre and chicken Karahi was very bony with minimal meat. However the mix grill platters are very nice on a positive note.

Delicious kebabs which are seasoned very well. The lamb biryani is amazing. Always craving for it. The portion seems bigger when you eat in compared to take away but still good quality. Higher price compared to other takeaways but makes up for it for the quality.

Chabli kebabs and Kadahi is nice and place is clean! We travel from Birmingham for food which says a lot about the restaurant as there are quite a few locally.

We hadn’t been to Zeenat for a couple of years, but arrived without booking (nobody does) at about 7pm. The restaurant was already busy, with bbq meat aromas and smoke making you feel hungry. The decor is very basic (cafe), the food unfussy and authentic Afghanistan / Pakistan. The grilled and bbq meats are fantastic, and curries & naans very good. Note that alcohol is not allowed or sold. Also, this is cash only, and no cards accepted. The cost of the meal is very reasonable.

More like a fast food place than a restaurant but the food is good and very reasonable. Recommend trying at least once

if you are willing to wait , than its fine but if you are in rush than this is not the place for you . Service is slow but food is hot and nice

Quite expensive dishes when compared to decent restaurants in london .In this age of technology and making customers feel at ease with their orders instead they have cash only service no cards allowed.Hence nor will I visit it again neither will I recommend this restaurant to anyone.Thanks.

Great food as always. Been here several.times food is always on par. The peri peri half chicken is always a must for me and the kababs. Overall the lamb kharai is also nice. Would visit again

I usually go there with my family and friends. The food is amazing I always get the half peri peri chicken. However it would take a while for the food to come. No too long about 20/ 30 minutes. Overall it a good place to go eat with your family and friends.

Heard so much about the place so decided to visit all the way from Birmingham. To be honest wasn't entirely satisfied we have much better options in Brum. The starters were good mains nothing special. Service was good and quick. Prices ok.

Today me n my wife went to have dinner and boy we weren't disappointed at all....the lamb kebabs and karahi was upto the mark and was very delectable .....would definately recommend

We've been buying from Zeenat for years and they used to do the most delicious biryani. They have now changed the recipe by substituting the afghani rice for cheap basmati and now it tastes like the cheaper tasteless 'Friend's Corner Biryani'.

This place hits the spot everytime we visit it. Today we discovered that the chicken rice was amazing. The service is excellent and food is good quality and clean. And very very tasty.

Always try and check out this place when back in Coventry. Fresh food with great barbecued meat and huge naan. Not too expensive and authentic.

Food is excellent very tasty worth the drive all the way from Walsall. Interior could have been improved better. Plates need a proper clean before serving. Overall very tasty food especially lamb chops and lamb biryani.

I only visit Zeenat for their starters BUT that is all you need. The best Chicken Kebabs I have had. Lamb Chops and Lamb Sheekh Kebabs are also lovely.

I have been to this place numerous time this is The resturant which never fails you on taste. I love love love their biryani, its the best biryani i have tasted in UK. Every thing here taste so good kebabs, karhais, bhindi, daal you name pakistani food items and they give you a perfectly cooked dish with warmest naan bread.

Would recommend for take away than sit down restaurant. Order over phone & go & collect. Parking can be difficult. But the food is great. Cheap Afghani grill with lovely roast chicken, lamb chops & biriyani.

Zeenats one of the most visited restaurant’s in my life.

The food was delicous. But Rubbish Service. We waited for 2 portion of chips for over an hour we had to cancel our order for chips and we asked for 2 cans of drinks 3 times until we got it as soon as we asked for the bill.

Used to be a regular in this establishment until the service dipped, however a few years on and the service has improved.Goes without saying they have the best grilled food and nan breads in the city!Sheesh kebabs, lamps chops and chicken tikka are amazing!!

Great food. Great value. Great service. This is not a pretentious, 'posh' restaurant. Just great food at a good price. Seekh kebab, meat karahi, chops are lovely. Consistently great food. Your wasting your money anywhere else in Coventry.

the biryani was awfull, it was just rice mixed with dry meat, what a joke, the rest of the food was standard.

It may not look like the poshest of all places, but once you enter Zeenat, you feel welcome. We come here every 2 - 3 weeks to eat our regular menu and we never had a bad meal in this place. We usually go for the fabulous mixed grill, served on a sizzler, accompanied by the huge Keema Nan, a freshly prepared Saag Paneer and Chicken Biryani. Not too expensive at all, fresh food, fast service and very friendly. I would recommend this one to anyone who likes a good grill in Coventry. Oh, and don't forget to order some coconut ice cream.

Worst possible food. Ordered kebabs handi and mix grill tasteless food. Biryani was bland and tasteless. And apparently their star item chapli kebabs are always short and never available. About 15 times ive tried to get the chapli kebabs but they never have it. Pretty useless to go to and expensivr too. Chatkhara much better than this restuarant.

Ordered grilled seekh kebabs, came dry and chewy, the meat in the lamb kerahi and chicken tikka curry was also chewy. Food, deserts, ice cream are not fresh at all. Never seen a depressing family seating area upstairs like this before.

Ordered food for a family gathering of 40.The food was exceptional and due to the nature of event they added extra food for 10 people. Chicken biryani boneless, lamb curry boneless and chic pea curry. I not sure if the owner Abdullah is still around but a good manger. I have always done takeaway from his place and the food has always been exceptional.They use the meat which comes from the next door shop and is of good quality.

I have been using this restaurant for about 4 years now and every time the service & food has been great. The type of food includes various Indian & Afghanistan dishes cooked with halal meat. I have the spicy lamb chops every time which are my favourite.If you haven't tried this restaurant then give it ago.

The issues with Zeenat's have been around a long time; greasy, poor service, shoddy toilets etc. They have altered their kebab over the years, they are smaller now and you get two in a portion instead of one and finally they have toned down the heat. Overall though it does feel like these have improved. Most of their grilled food is excellent such as burgers and lamb chops. Still a fine go to place for good quality food.

I was once a regular here, been coming here for past 3/4 years, spending more than £50 a time here. Service was bang on. Food was awesome never complained. Recently the standards have dropped. They just treat you like a number in here. Small portions prices are going up. Service is terrible. Avoided this place now for good 5 months.

For a restaurant in Coventry it's not bad as we don't have much variety but the food is very nice and I really like how they have seating upstairs with curtains which is great for families and you can actually get privacy and enjoy a nice meal. Even if you go with friends it's always nice to hide so you don't see anyone lol. BBQ chicken steak is my favourite thing to get on the menu aswell as mixed grills which are very tasty too. Need to stock up on ice creams though the past few times I have been there has not been any and the bubble ice cream they used to provide was the best bubblegum ice cream I've tasted

I have been here few times, as my friends live very close to this place. Though I do think their chicken Biryani isn't too bad, everything else is just horrible. Every time I had their Chili or Garlic sauce with my food, I got sick!!The worst was the last time when we went there and had the mixed grill to share. It was by far the worst food I have had in years, the meats were chewy burnt, and didn't taste nice at all. We have informed one of the staff, who didn't care at all. Definitely never going back and would not recommend to anyone!!

I used to rave on about how good this place was for years.... then they changed hands.... was told it had gone downhill... had to find out the hard way... my curry had 40% oil content and tasted like sh1t. I went in the next day and pulled the owner to one side to complain and he started arguing back (I was in no mood to argue on a sacred friday) so I simply told him to keep his food and left... never again. thumbs down all the way

It doesn't look nice from the outside or inside but don't count on that, the food is perfect.We both had lamb and it was just amazing, it was so tender and delicious. The naans were so soft and the portions were all very big. We'll definitely go there again.And everything very cheap, £30 for two all in.

A friend kindly invited me to his city and took me to this place.He told me it is run by an Afghani, and all the food is Afghani cuisine.It was my first bite of such cuisine.As you enter you see the decor is nice, modern, appealing, with the chefs all busy cooking.We went upstairs where one may dine in peace with curtains around each table. This was nice.The food was amazing - huge portions, so hot temperature wise. The food was amazing.I had no qualms with the food at all. We had grilled food, curries and roti and rice. Good service. I recommend anyone who is passing by to pit-stop here. You will not be dissatisfied.

We've been here before. It's not the sort of fancy place. But since the last visit few years ago I can see they've made an effort with the interior. Looks nicer and cleaner now. Food was pretty good. Service was quick and polite. As mentioned it's not fancy but you will be satisfied with the food. It's fresh and it hits the spot. Must have ...the cheese burger. It was still as good as it was few years ago. Would I go again...yes.

wow.. have eaten there for quite sometime now... and every time the quality is getting worse and worse.. ordered mixed grill last evening.. came out burnt.. the staff wouldnt even acknowledge it .. the arrogance is quite appalling .. wouldnt recommend it at all

I have been going there for years and the food is always prepared to a high standard, I have introduced my friends to the place and they love it too, particularly the flame grilled items.

Have been there a few times as I do like food cooked on the fire but wasnt welcomed warmly and the food was not always fresh and sometimes too salty - perhaps to hide something? Our last visit in March sent us to bed with stomach pains and so we found somewhere safer to eat. Later I realised I should have looked at their cleanliness rating...

Good places, pretty cheap meals but very very tasty with a large selection of dishes. Place is opened till to night, what is good for late night food ... or just when you are in the evening in the bar and you get hungry :)))

No frills here great home cooked food ans simply served nothing grand but very original food and many choices. More afghani style cooking, great value for money, enjoy the lamb chops, lentils, Kohima And kulfi..... Can see all the cooking in progress and lots of hustle and bustle, a great place to eat out will return again for sure...

Food is excellent, fresh and served piping hot. Must try includes Naan Bread, chicken Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka Biryani, and Lamb Biryani. Location is not great for on street parking. At 5 minutes walk, I usually find a on street parking place at Leicester causeway.

You must visit here .... we chose our meal from the Afghan section and enjoyed the food so much .... freshly cooked. I am definitely visiting again

Small group though we'd try zeenats and we weren't disappointed. The service was good l, the food was excellent cooked very well and great taste. We had a selections of dishes including rice, curries and sweets. The down sides were the cold in the restaurant if you could call it that and the hygiene! Likely to visit again

Visited this restaurant. After waiting 20 minutes for takeaway chicken tikka. They only forgot to put it in the bag with the rest of the order. Genius or incompetence either way was short in pocket and hungry as a consequence.

I have been to zeenats several times. There lamb chops, chicken, mixes grill, biryani are amazing and reasonably priced. Parking is bit of an issue but jus try and find some side street parking. The decor needs improving but don't let that put you off! Bon appetit :-)

Went here the other night with a friend. We ordered the sizzling mixed grill and it lived up to its name. It looked exactly like the picture. A mountain of meat. We also had the lamb Biryani and some naan bread. The rice in the Biryani was long grain Basmati and not some cheaper short grain rice used in some establishments. We also had some accompaniments to go along with the food, yoghurt and some chilli sauce / chutney. The food had a good flavour to it and the only niggle was the lamb chops were a bit chewy and could have been more tender. The food served was good wholesome food. The décor and ambience is not high class or 5 star. Formica tables are the order of the day. But the food was good so the décor is not that important. Recommended and will be visiting again soon.

Have been to this restaurant a few times now and the grilled food is amazing ! go for the baby chcken and the lamb chops ! The Lamb Biryani and the Lamb Karahi are also recommended. The place is basic but has adequate seating both upstairs and downstairs. They have a seperate section for families upstairs and also a larger room for functions. The best thing though is all the food is HMC Certified (at the time of writing). If you go there without too many high expectation then you wont leave dissapointed.

Me and my wife like to try out new places for date night and we came across Turmeric Gold and decided to check it out. First impressions while walking in is that the atmosphere is just splendid. The lighting is perfect and sets the mood for a great date. Contrary to my experience with most indian food restaurants, our order came out quite quickly. The taste and quality of the 3 course meal we ordered matched the initial impressions we got. Overall a great experience with fantastic service, will definitely frequent the place. Highly recommended..!

I’ve just enjoyed some lovely food with excellent service. The food was very prepared in front of me and was well prepared. I really enjoyed the mixed starters. I ordered chicken pasanda and a plain naan, both the pasanda and the naan tasted fresh. Couldn't fault the service which was excellent. Would have no hesitation in returning again.

I have been going to zeenat for the last few years now, no wonder it has the best food around,the food is fresh and mouth watering and the good thing is, it is HMC. I am not sure if you have noticed, Zeenat Restaurant has recently changed, the chandeliers, table foot, counter front and windows are much cleaner then it used to be, the restaurant is more cleaner now then it was before, even outside the restaurant looks clean. I think a new management has taken over. The customer service has improved, there is a new guy at the counter with the beard who is very friendly and who looks like the new manager as he is wearing a different shirt from the rest of the staff, the salad is better than it was. inside staff are wearing maroon polo shirts and the outside staff are wearing black shirt and black paint. things has improved a lot.menu has changed as well reflecting each dish in it is own section. good work zeenat, keep up the good work.

went with my family to Zeenat Restaurant once again ,we always like it but this time we seen lots of improvement ,the service is much improved the food was on time.there was my brother in law with us ,he was very impressed and shocked when we get the mix grill in the sizzler ,he took few photos.I really recommend it to every one to go and try once again you will love it .

HI every one; I just want to share some interesting story with you, me,my family and friends are mostly go out for food to eat and we go to many Restaurant in london, Birmingham ,leicester and some time even to Manchester .But mostly we go to a Restaurant called ZEENAT KEBABISH in coventry ,and we went there last week, the food is always excellent but this time was very quick ,nice and cleaned the chairs and tables .all staff were wearing nice and cleaned uniforms,very friendly staff.we ordered mix grill ,lamb kebabs,lamb biryani chicken karahi and Afghani nan everything are very good but the mix grill is the best.

it was five of us went there from london, heard a lot of it so we thought lets give it a try..Order their Zeenat Mix Gril Lamb curry, Chicken curry as well as afghani speical curry..Staff very extremly friendly, smiling all the time from the moment you walk in the resturant until you leave the place. Food was amazing, I think everyone who is the area should try it, you wont be disappointed with everything. Highly recomemanded to everyone.

Have been here several times. The Grill kebab here is the best I have had in many restaurants around london, nothing can beat these ones. Service has been amazing since the recently managegment change over, having looked at the reviews other people have put on. Staff are amazing their are very welcoming from the very moment you walk in to the place. Parking is reasonable in local streets.I was extremtly surpirse with the price... like some say it worth every penny of it!!I would strongly recomemand to eveyone. You wont be Disappointed!

If you go Zeenat kebabish you won't be disappointed with there grill food it's awesome. try the lamp chops or baby chicken, you won't be disappointed.

If anyone has to taste biryani, lamp balti and mango lassi... there is no other place that Zeenat. I have been to lots of different states... but never tasted biryani like theirs.. especially the lamp biryani... though the service is not good... but the food is awesome... thats why I always visit to Zeenath at least once with my friends whenever I visit to Coventry. I cant event explain to you how good the biryani and mango lassi is.. until you visit that place...

Been there with 3 friends , all of us heard very high about this. But got the food on the table after almost 1 hour of ordering. Was very busy time though. Still wouldn't be a problem if the food wasn't too oily, and the dal we ordered had gone off, my friend spoke to the manager and he came didn't even say sorry , took the dish and when came back to say that's how their dal is, then took the dish without saying anything, after 20-25 minutes another guy just left another dish on the table without saying anything, 2 of my friend felt like insulting, can't express how bad experience was that...just decided not to visit again.

We've been going there for over a year. Good food but terrible management. Not the way to treat customers. Late order taking. And what happened yesterday is that we asked the waiter to pack our remaining food which we often do and went home. Following day we came back from work and did not make any food only to discover half the food was missing. Extremely angry and called zeenat and the guy kept saying why did you not call yesterday. Blaming us. We don't keep left over food. Fine. What can you do for us as we did not make anything today and all we want is half the lamb as we left that much yesterday. Sorry you will have to pay for the full portion. I'm not saying you are lying but we will have to charge you. I don't know who's made this mistake. You have to come and identify him so that we deduct from his wages. Shame on such kind of management. You have lost a loyal customer. Only for £3-4.

I have only had chicken and lamb kebabs from this place and i loved it. On a few occasions the service has been below par, but this hasn't put me off from coming back.

Puts cafe khans to Shame with there quality !I am a Pakistani man and have left cafe khans cuisine because on a number of occasions got sick from there !Zeenats services has improved And the food quality is amazing only downfall can be waiting around sometimes , they are busy but overall it's worth It!

Hi i said something about kababish restaurant in coventry. Me and my friends we are going every 15 days somewher to eat different restaurant in different test. We spend lot of money for a good test. Last night we was zeenet Kababish restaurant in coventry. When we ordered the food we waited 3 hours .We found few long hair in our food . Un helpful staff is nothing to say sorry. And food was rubbish. We never ever going back on that place . Staff uneducated and nonsense going to fight with customer if you complain about food. Food is absolutely poisoning. I think should be local council take a action like these dirty restaurant .Bill is triple time high compare with other restaurants. I recommend best restaurant in birmingham or london.

i was not so sure before i went due to other bad reviews but once i arrived i was really impressedThis place takes you back, sit back close your eyes and relax, take in the atmosphere the smell of food and the foreign languages being spoken around you with the foreign music in the background. Having tried their kebabs at an event a couple of years ago, I'd been meaning to go there for a while - now I'm wondering why I left it so long. We arrived a little after noon and were served within about thirty minutes; no hardship, given that we could see and smell our food being prepared.My baby lamb chop karahi was delicious, with the meat falling off the bone and the sauce really nicely spiced. My other half, meanwhile, had the kofte kebabs, which I tried and which were the nicest either of us had ever had. It was all fresh and all delicious - the naan was also exceptionally good and not overly-sweetened as many seem to be.Service was friendly but not overly attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. I've never had koftas as tasty as the ones made by the Zeenat. As everyone says, waiting times are longer than average, but that's made worthwhile the moment that a fragrantly spiced kofta arrives at your table, sizzling on a bed of partially caramelised onions. But eating it is better still. Food is absolutely loaded with flavour, portions are generous, prices are low. The decor is basic and the service low key, but definitely worth going out of your way to visit.

I have been to this place many times. If you avoid busy times such as weekends, you can generally guarantee good service. If the places looks extremely busy, it is best to just go somewhere else as it can take 45 minutes before you are served. It appears they struggle during peak times. However, during quieter times such as during the day, you can have a completely different experience with attentive and prompt service.I went on a Friday afternoon with my friends, we managed to find a parking space nearby because the prayer time was over and it was quiet. We opted to sit upstairs because you can have a curtain drawn around your table for privacy. Guys tend to sit downstairs which is fine as families/females can go upstairs.The waiter who served us spoke English - contrary to a lot of reviews I have read I have always been served by an English speaking waiter. He did return several times to check if the food was okay or if we needed anything else so no issues with the service. When it came to getting the bill we just went downstairs and paid at the counter rather than wait for the waiter to return upstairs.The food was delicious as expected with fluffy naan breads and I love the mango lassi. I think the main reason people go here is for the quality food - not the service or decor. Remember, they only accept cash for payment so be sure to stop at an ATM before you arrive.
