Changing trains at Highbury, we chose this restaurant after reading Google reviews and were not disappointed. One of the best Indian meals we’ve had, staff were friendly and efficient - a great find!

I read great reviews about this place so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, my experience didn't match the expectations, which is a shame because I could have gone elsewhere to have a great meal. I don't go out to eat very often and really love Indian food so I picked green curry which was quite expensive but I thought 'I'll treat myself once in a while'. And the waiter said it was their signature dish so I expected a delicious meal and a decent portion as well as it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. To my surprise, the curry sauce was barely covering the chicken...I had to ask for more as I wouldn't have been able to eat the rice. Also, the chicken was cooked separately and the sauce was poured over the chicken which is really strange. I've never seen that before: you would always get chicken which was cooked together with curry and would soak up all the spices..but maybe that's how they make it. Another thing was the curry sauce was nothing special. Honestly, I could do it myself at home: the only thing there was yoghurt, mint and some coriander and lots of salt. I ate it but was really disappointed. This was a special day and it kind of got ruined. Maybe other dishes are better but mine was definitely not a good choice. And for the price I paid, definitely not worth it... I also ordered flatbread (I think roti) which came rolled and wrapped in a cling film (weird) and was cold and very chewy... I asked if they could take it off my bill because I just tried and left the rest, which they kindly did. The service was quite good hence 5 stars for it but the rest disappointment. I have to say that this was my worst Indian meal served in a restaurant and I actually wouldn't pay even £5 for that curry...not sure why they're charging so much for it. Wanted to like it but won't be going back there.

Popped into Zaffrani with a friend with no booking and it was a great experience. The staff are lovely and helpful in their recommendations. Service is efficient and the food is delicious; pleasant experience overall, thanks guys x

Quite simply our favourite curry house of all time. We live very close which helps, however the food is really great here - we’ve been coming for years and never had a bad meal (to the contrary the food is superb) and everyone you speak to locally loves the place. The team that run it are really great and the level of service is always superb. The vegetable samosas are a must. Cannot recommend the place highly enough.

Food and reviews looked great and this was my first time ordering from here but unfortunately I will not be ordering again. I know curry’s can be oily but this amount of oil is not acceptable and the food was not even edible for me .

One of the hidden gems near Angel Station and I regret not coming here earlier despite living nearby. Excellent food, friendly staffs and overall astounding experience. Recommend anyone who’s nearby and also worth a visit if you’re not!

Since we wanted to have a nice Indian Dinner our friends recommended to stop by at Zaffrani. What we got there was so good, that we returned the very next day again. The food was superb, so was the service! Strong recommondation and many thanks to the team for 2 lovely evenings!

A hidden gem just off of the main Upper Street in London. We stayed at an Airbnb just 2 doors down from this place, and at 4:00PM when the kitchen really starts to get busy, awesome smells wafted onto our terrace and into our cottage. Although the decor is minimalistic, the service and food is awesome. A must try!

Family run, very attentive, advised against over-ordering, looked after a larger group of us really well, accommodated us outside on a beautiful summer’s evening and left us feeling full and amused after. Amazing food, and genuinely engaged staff. Staff were great with my children (10 and 12) and made sure they has a good a meal as my wife and I. Lovely quiet environment just off the beaten track in an otherwise very busy but exciting area. We will be back!

We had a reservation at 5pm but were asked to come back in 20 minutes since they were just opening....No idea, why they would let you make a reservation in the first place.

On a recent trip to London, staying in Islington, we had researched possible Indian restaurants for a meal. We called in the Zaffrani late at night and enjoyed our meal cooked fresh even though the place was very close to shutting up shop and we were last ones in. We thought a bit more flexibility on possible starters would have been good but the choices we made were very tasty. We thought that the menu prices, for London, were quite fair and will happily visit again when we're in Islington. We live in the Peak District and the food compared well with our local award winning restaurant.

I went here with my friends and we all loved it. We had a spectacular evening. The service was 10/10 and the food was amazing. We got given recommendations of dishes from a waiter who’s name I forgot and we all loved our food uncle Jack was also great he made sure we were well looked after. The atmosphere is so relaxing and had good vibes. I’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious food. The menu is a break from the norm, with a range of new and interesting dishes as well as some classics too. So tasty, and a good range of vegetarian as well as meat dishes. The waiters were very polite, efficient and friendly and the restaurant itself had a great atmosphere. This was our first visit but we are looking forward to returning soon!

Our best indian food experience in London so far ! For the outside, it looks like a plain restaurant, but their dishes are delicious! We started with fried onions (can't remember the actual name sorry), and they tasted great, not too greasy and lovely spiced. The main courses were taken from their regionals (I think I ordered the Maghwa) and again, perfect : fresh ingredients and spices, mild but tasty, rice was as good too. Have walked by this place many times, looked very inviting, and thought I would stop. Today was the day. Good service from a friendly staff. Had suitcases with me and they were very accomodating. Food was very good (shared two mains, rice and a vegetable dish between two), price was quite reasonable. The place has a nice elegant feel to it. Would definitely go back.

The place is quite nice for proper Indian place. Nun is nice, others I have are OK, chicken tandoori can be more soft and more spice. Spicy rice is OK.

Excellent food and great service

We ate here twice, once for a sit down, once again to feed my kids who loved the food so much they demanded takeaway the night after. We are VERY satisfied customers wishing this hard working business all the very best!!

A lovely restaurant, comfortably laid out inside and positioned well, slightly away from the busy main road, in a quiet side street. The atmosphere was relaxed and the main chef made a real effort to come out of the kitchen and talk with guests. Both courses I had were very good indeed and different to what is usually on offer in every other Indian restaurant. I can particularly recommend the plate of mixed bhajis. Of course, the familiar favourites were also available on the menu. Prices were very reasonable - I would definitely come back again.

Excellent Indian restaurant. All dishes I've tried have had rich distinctive flavours. I went once with my (curry appreciating) Dad, who now wants to go to this restaurant every time he's in Angel. Looking forward to trying more of the dishes, particularly their epic specials.

This place used to be amazing, 15 years ago. however, it's steadily gone downhill. What is worse is that the attitude of the staff isn't particularly good.

They brought me the wrong (less expensive) dish and charged me the higher price. When I asked for the check, one of the waiters practically threw the plastic with the check on the table. The waitstaff is all smiles, but they don't seem reliable or trustworthy.

Firstly, it's not an Indian restaurant. It's a Bangaladeshi restaurant. The staff were polite Mains Portions of Punjabi matar paneer and Punjabi Daal were insufficient. The daal was good. The fenugreek naan was good. Portions of Bhindi do pyaza( literally two okra sticks 😂) was tooo small

Best Indian in London! No questions asked. I visit at least twice a month and recently discovered the Simla Mirchi Murgh… INCREDIBLE! All natural flavour and spices. Make sure you try it.

Went here for a birthday party of 11. Everyone of the staff couldn't do enough for you. Despite the place being fall, they never put any pressure in you to hurry up. The food, every plate from starter's to main course was wiped clean. The menu is so varied and caters for everyone. Would recommend this place to anyone, if you want an indian with some class, excellent food and amazing staff, this is the place

Nice food - attentive although slightly pushy service - odd access to the toilets which may need a re-think.

We ordered from Uber eats just now, they forgot the poppadoms and dips. They gave us the wrong naan, we ordered the tandoori naan but got a regular. The Rogan Josh is a small portion and the korma is oily. Im really not satisfied with the food. The Rogan Josh is tasty and meat is tender. Edit* korma is inedible

Lovely meal at Zaffrani. The proprietor Jack and his team were extremely welcoming and attentive and did their utmost to ensure we were well looked after and well-satisfied. It was plain to see that they genuinely cared for their guests and their dining experience. Food was fresh, authentic and flavoursome. Karahi lamb was cooked to perfection - tender lamb with real depth to the sauce. Saag paneer was another stand out dish - creamy spinach with soft tasty paneer and a gentle aromatic sweetness permeating through the dish. Portions were generous and pricing reasonable. Will be back for sure.

Amazing food and lovely service

Ordered delivery, food came piping hot. Exceptional curries, very good depth of flavour and fresh spices. Vegetable side dishes weren't mind-blowing but solidly executed. The various meat dishes were incredible - flavourful, tender and high quality. Worth ordering again.

Visited here this week when staying in Islington for a theatre break. The food was good but sadly let down by the distainful service. We felt very unwelcome our food was slammed down in silence while the waiters were fussing around the regulars. Quite an unpleasant experience and would not return
