Probably would have been brilliant. It certainly smelled good. Walked a long way into the cold (my choice, enjoyed the walk). It’s take away only now. Nowhere, that I’m aware of, does it say this is not a restaurant. I left as by the time I had walked back it would have been frozen rather than cold. Sorry to leave a negative review without eating. I will return should you become a restaurant again. I wish you luck.

Seems like a lovely spot to go in person, good energy, great food, great portion sizes. However experience delivering online pretty awful - it's the only place I can order food within ten minutes (tonight ordered at 18:09 with delivery at 20:25) of opening and have to wait over two hours for delivery (which is a shame as it's been such great food!). Food just as good when it gets here and can only assume it's because they are very busy - but delivery service is really lacking.

I cannot recommend HugoMangos more. I regularly get a takeout from here as their duck chilli is the nicest dish (from any takeaway) I’ve ever eaten - it’s got the perfect balance of fragrant flavours and heat. I also love their chicken satay, dim sum and their noodle-based main courses. Portions are large and well worth the money. I also received outstanding customer service this weekend when I got my order mixed up and the restaurant let me order again at no extra cost. You must try this place if you haven’t already!

We ordered a ‘Saturday night takeout dinner’ for three of us. Red Prawn Curry, Green Chicken Curry and a beef dish. Not the cheapest but generous servings and quality absolutely excellent.

The food was amazing the service was quick and simple absolutely will be eating here again, as a family this is our favourite place to eat

We had a bit of a feast as a treat, chicken satay, spring rolls, prawn crackers, beef Penang, jungle curry, rice & playboy noodles. It was absolutely delicious and plentiful! Satay was to die for, spring rolls good. Always love a Thai prawn cracker, so much flavour compared to Chinese ones. The beef Penang was probably THE best curry I’ve ever eaten! It was just heavenly! Play boy noodles were absolutely delicious too! Jungle curry was good, but perhaps the only dish where I have had better before, and my only reason for not giving a full 5 star rating. Having said that I do think overall this is without a doubt the best Thai restaurant around and I absolutely would not hesitate to come back!

We eat from here on special occasions as it is very expensive for a takeaway (£17.00 for a main specials dish). Previously the delivery service was very poor which has led to a reluctance to use them more often vs their competition; we've found ourselves waiting for over an hour past the requested time with no phone number to call which was very frustrating. This issue has now been amended and their 3 orders per 15 minute slot system means that the delivery time was spot on. The food is exceptional & portion size is also generous so the price is justified as a special treat vs a standard Friday night takeaway.

We had a selection of food for a family of 4, all of which was excellent. The Pad Thai was the best I've had, here or abroad and everyone else thoroughly enjoyed what theirs.

I know Thai food should be spicy but this was beyond hot, which is a shame really because the food smelled amazing, the sides and rice were fantastic but the curry was inedible. I would return if they could mellow the spice down a little. I like heat but this was too much and felt like they were taking the p!ss.

We had a takeaway for the first time from this restaurant. As they had their own “specials” we chose two of them. We had high expectations as they were quite expensive at £17.00 each for a takeaway. One dish was roast duck paneng. The sauce was tasty and there was plenty of duck. However it was so overcooked it’s was really tough. The other dish was Confit Lamb Massaman. Whilst the meat was tender, the whole dish was very fatty and the potatoes totally overcooked. The spring rolls and chicken satay we enjoyed as starters were much better. We will not be returning as it is the worst Thai restaurant we have ever visited.

Food is delicious! We always choose the specials! They’re super filling and great portion sizes. I would recommend keeping a mane dish on the side as the dishes are saucy (in the best ways) ;) Great customer service!!

Ordered a vegan takeaway which we collected only to find when opening it was not vegan but chicken. Contacted restaurant who have not replied. Very disappointed wrong food and no contact. Will not use again.

Booked for a night out, had a fantastic meal. Great tasting food, friendly staff and great prices!The menu’s been trimmed a bit due to Covid. But the prices are very reasonable.Book in advance is recommended as they are only running the ground floor (social distancing etc). But the takeaway was very popular!

Visited with friends after quite a break. Upper level no longer available , so recommend booking. Both starters and mains were excellant. Very helpful owner so food can be spiced up to your appropriate level.

Went there last Sunday as a small family group. Rather cosy restaurant, trade mainly takeout (which is to be expected I suppose given we have only just been allowed to dine out).Service was pleasant enough, food too. Not the best, certainly not the worst. However, the menu isn't that extensive and what dishes there were rather on the expensive side.For a quick one course meal this would be adequate but it's not an eating out experience, hence why they do seem to be more popular for takeout.

Amazing food, delivered to us at time scheduled and packaged beautifully. All recyclable dishes and food stayed hot for ages. Would highly recommend.

This was without a doubt one of the best restaurant takeaways I’ve ever had. Firstly, it was extremely clean when we went to pick up the food and they’ve adhered to the new measures as a result of Covid really well. The food itself was incredible. It was really tasty, the portion sizes were so generous, and even the packaging was really impressive. This place was really good value for money and honestly one of the most satisfying meals I’ve had out in a long time. Thank you so much!

Thai food is normally a balance of sweet, sour, bitter and salty. The meals we bought from Hugomangos was a balance of monosodium glutamate in the fish dish and bland nothingness in the Pad Thai and coconut rice. We tried to soldier through the meal but had to give up and make cheese on toast instead. Disappointing as this was our first take away for 3 months.

We’ve not tried their food before, so decided to get a lockdown takeaway. Easy to order online, delivered on time and food was amazing. Well packed and arrived hot. Fantastic chicken Penang!

We got a delivery on Saturday 2nd May 2020: while the menu has been pared-back, the food offered is superb. We knew that Zabb Thai was fab (Fabb Thai!?) but HugoMango’s remains first - class. It is not really cheap, but you get what you pay for - and this food is outstanding. Rob and Claire

Lockdown takeaway -ordered online - requested delivery for 6.45 -it arrived bang on time, and lovely food-

We ordered delivery during lockdown, and the food was not very tasty with quite small portions and relatively expensive. Also, we were told that delivery would be 30 minutes, then 45 minutes and then it came in 10 minutes, so not very organised. Finally, the delivery charge was only shown after payment had been made, which is a little sneaky. Won't be repeating and won't be visiting the restaurant after the lockdown is over.

Ordered twice now since the lockdown as the food is exceptional. Food arrived promptly on a Friday night with a contactless delivery. Everything was packaged nicely, hot and so delicious. Recommend the penang curry, but every dish we have ordered has been lovely. This food is a real treat given the current circumstances, would highly recommend.

Ordered during the corona lockdown, wasn't even expecting them to be open but they arrived within 15 minutes of their expected delivery time and the food was hot and fresh! One of our favourite restaurants and hasn't disappointed us yet.

Ordered a take away Saturday night, 4th April, it was delivered on time and obviously freshly cooked, The green Thai Curry was flavorsome and delicious with coconut rice. The rest of the dishes were equally tasty and freshly cooked. This Thai restaurant never fails to please, have been a customer since they opened as Zabb Thai over 10 years ago and never had a bad experience. Friendly helpful service too.......

Very disappointed this evening. We came here because our usual Thai restaurant, Chaba Thai, was closed for a holiday. One girl serving front of house, unfortunately unable to cope with the amount of trade for takeaway and eat in. The takeaway customers have to wait standing in amongst the tables. We felt that the takeaway customers' orders took priority. Our Thai crackers took at least 20 minutes to appear! Then out spring rolls took ages after, very greasy & not very nice. We then asked how long our mains would be, both simple Thai curries, these were going to be at least another 15 minutes. We gave up and just paid. We prefer to give strong feedback directly but could not find an email to send to.

This is the second time we have been here this month, and can confirm it's a great place to eat. Very friendly service and all food cooked from fresh. Throughly enjoyed both visits and recommend this to any person loving Thai food.

We had been to Oxford for the day, arrived back in Abingdon in the pouring rain. The Restaurant opened early for the 6 of us, and what a delight it was. The food was amazing and wold certainly go again if we are in the area.

My Friends took me here telling me that was so good but they changed the mame and they do not know how was gonna be...just let all of you know that was amazing. All dishes were really tasted and awesame service. Brilliant experience. Thanks Hugomango!

The best Thai food we have ever had! Always liked Zabb Thai but this new ‘version’ of the place is just something else! Absolutely phenomenal! Cannot recommend enough!

Booked a table earlier, arrived and were shown to our seats. Nobody came to take our drinks order for about 15-20 mins, and in fact, nobody really talked to us, but when they did we gave our food order too (when we fathomed out the menu). Drinks eventually arrived. Many people came in after us for takeaways which were dealt with - and still we waited. The guys next to us said they’d been there 1 hour 10 mins and had only had a starter so far - we noticed not many in the restaurant were actually eating, and all seemed to be waiting. Still takeaway food was dealt with over the diner waiting on food. A couple came in and were told they were fully booked, so they left. Still more time went by, so we cancelled our food order and just paid for the drinks and left. We’d been there over an hour ....

We have been at Hugomango for Dinner at a sunday evening. You definitly need a reservation on weekends - the Restaurant is visited very well. We ordered a variety of four starters. If you come hungry it is our recommendation because it took a long time (+1h) before the main course. The food was very tasty and freshly made. Very hot! Portions maybe a Bit small if you come with a great appetit. All in all a nice evening. If you make a reservation and like to have it so busy ask for a table upstairs.

Had been to Zabb before and enjoyed it so we moored the boat in Abingdon and crossed the bridge. Only one other couple in when we arrived at 6.30 but the order was taken at 6.45 and Tom Yum Goong arrived at 7.00 and red curry and Mussuman curry arrived at 7.45. Service really was a bit slow! People came in to order a takeaway and told it would be 30 then 40 minutes.

The new menu is far less extensive than the old 'Zabb's' one, which initially was disappointing and is dumbed down with photos of the dishes and is matt laminated giving it a 'chain' restaurant feel.

We have been coming here for years, but don’t like the recent menu change. You can’t order mixed starters anymore which we wanted as we were a group of eight. The menu is now quite limited, difficult to understand and nothing like it was. I am not sure why they changed the branding from Zhab Thai as this was very successful. Also our waitress seemed disinterested and rude. Food still good though.

We arrived without booking on a Saturday evening and were given a table in the upstairs section (not particularly busy). Usual Thai restaurant decor in premises. The service was good but a little on the slow side, though not terrible. We ordered starters that were good followed by two mains; a red Thai curry and spicy pork belly that both tasted good and came in appropriate quantities. We would have liked to receive Thai crackers or the like to eat while waiting for courses as well as more opportunities to order drinks during the meal. All in all, a nice restaurant serving good food that we would recommend in Abingdon.

Visited Hugomango’s this evening - 08/06/19 with my partner for dinner. We were promptly gestured to our seating before having our drinks order taken. Our starters arrived in good timing though we had finished our drinks before we saw our supper and starter dishes remained on the table until the mains arrived. That aside, Great first experience for Thai cuisine- very tasty! Will certainly return.

Recently rebranded to hugomango's, I've been going to Zabb Thai for ages and the food has always been excellent. Things have recently changed. The staff are still very friendly but the food just isn't the same. The dim sum have shrunk and are now identlcal to that which you can buy frozen from any asian market. The fish cakes are rubbery and nothing like they used to be. It appears to be changing itself into high fat, high salt asian fast food which is OK if that's what you want but for anyone wanting the fabulous dishes that Zabb used to deliver, they now need to look elsewhere. And don't even get me started on the stupid new takeaway packaging or the tiny portions of rice. A great shame.

This is s great restaurant, never fails to serve great food whether it’s take out or in the restaurant. I have tried all the other Thai restaurants around and nothing compares to this, newly improved by keeping up with the times and offering street food alongside the traditional favourites. Food was great. Service was slow, but it was a busy Friday with a few large tables and we were late walk ins.

Freezing cold, no heating, sat by kitchen door which didn't help with the draught along with front door constantly opening for takeaway customers. Only background noise was ping of microwave. Service terrible waited for 10 mins to give drinks order. Claims to serve authentic Bangkok street food, everything microwaved beyond recognition and appeared to be from the Iceland £1 range not authentically made. Thai fish cakes were so rubbery and unable to cut especially as no knives provided obviously reheated served with inedible dry salad. Ordered Pad Thai noodles which were so overcooked they were just a blob of starchy mush. Partner had pork which was tough and overpoweringly salty. Rice was one solid lump. Again waited ages to order second drinks which were desperately needed to wash away taste of food and salt content. Everyone had to keep coats on because of the temperature.

This is a small and intimate restaurant in a lovely market town. Friendly and efficient staff who are very welcoming and attentive throughout the visit without being over intrusive. This small restaurant is able to accommodate up to 40 people over 2 floors in an authentic building without the trappings often seen in Asian restaurants. Offers an extensive menu with wide choices for diners. Excellent food quality and service. Car parking within a few minutes walk. Whether you are new to Thai cusine or otherwise this restaurant is worth a visit.

This is a great little Thai restaurant. The menu is very good and very reasonably priced. The food is very well cooked and presented and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Every dish we’ve ever tried from here has been fantastic, and the staff often throw in some free Changs with our order which is lovely! It’s our favourite Thai place and I’m sure it will continue to be.

We ate here last week for the first time. We really enjoyed our meal. The place was busy and only one member of staff so a bit slow to get drinks as he was busy serving others but food came quickly and was fantastic. We will definitely go again.

The actual restaurant is gorgeous, very detailed decorations and the tables are perfectly laid. We thought it was very relaxing. We were greeted when we came in and made to feel welcome. We were waited on straight away, very good service, he was very friendly.

Choochee fish is to die fir and chicken and prawn with chilli and veg tempura and squid starter. Absolutely wonderful and recommend Chenin Blanc tovwash it down

My husband and I are regular visitors to Zabb Thai, travelling from Didcot just to collect a takeaway. Aside from Oli's Thai, I would rate Zabb Thai as the best Thai in Oxfordshire so I'm surprised to hear some of the negative reviews below.

Small, intimate restaurant with pleasant service. The menu offers what you'd expect, the food was good and the prices reasonable. Nothing exceptional but perfectly adequate and I'd eat here again.

Visited with friends on a Sunday evening. Small and cosy restaurant in an old building. Very nice aray of starters, but the main courses were all excellent. Beautifully balanced dishes, from the mild to the spicy, all dull of great flavours. Menu gives a good indication of the heat levels which are warmer than the average Thai restaurant. Great evening out.

We really enjoyed our evening meal here. The service was fast and very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were really generous too. This place is seriously good value for money. There is parking close to the restaurant. Keep up the good work - we will eat here again in the future for sure!

I've been visiting this place for 4/5 years now and it has stayed my favourite thai place ever, worldwide! Left abingdon a year ago, but i still think and compare any thai place i go to, to this. It hands down wins ever time! Not to mention, amazing staff who work incredibly hard and who are very nice, you definitely feel that they appreciate their costumers more than a lot of places. Once you find your favourite dish on the menu, you'll dream/crave it forever.

This is a great little restaurant serving nice authentic Thai food. The menu is very good and the food is very good.. Friendly and helpful staff. The price is average. It is well worth another visit.

I decided to go here as I got recommended it by a friend. The food was excellent and so was the service as well. I think it is where I have had the best curry so far and I also though that it wasn’t too spicy. I would really recommend this place to everyone.

We visited the Zabb Thai restaurant on the occasion of my birthday. We used to live in Abingdon and knew this premises as a hairdressers shop. The building is over 200 years old and does not have a level floor or right angle anywhere to be seen. That, in itself, makes this a unique place.

My last review gave them a mark of 1 . Sadly after today I am struggling with that . 4...

Ok over the years been disappointed with takeaways - never live up to the quality and taste so stopped having them. But late return from Cambridge meant 3 adults to feed and too tired to sit in a restaurant or cook - led to desperate measures to venture in to takeaway land .........and first time we decided to go here and do a Thai takeaway and boy was I surprise. Service was very friendly snd efficient - food arrived exactly when they said. At home we tucked into fantastic array of flavours tastes and textures - it was definitely the best takeaway we have had on my 54 years - so tasty but light and yet filling. We will return again in force and this time for the full experience of eating at the restaurant.Thanks was amazing .

Having used this restaurant since it opened , it was fabulous . We have given it recently 3 chances and it has failed dismally. There must be a new chef .Crispy squid soggy, crispy chicken limp and cold . Rice not as described and cold . We live centrally so distanc not the issue .This is such a shame as we used to go there/ get takeaways all the time . Sadly no more .

One member of our party was Vegan and another Gluten Free and yet they couldn't have been more helpful, suggesting options and checking things with the chef. The service was spot on and when the food arrived, our eyes lit up. Everything was beautifully presented. Every single plate on our table was emptied - and amid many comments from a well travelled bunch, that this was one of the best Thai's we'd had. Delicious. We will be back. Many thanks.

The chicken green curry was delicious, couldn't fault it and it went perfect with the sticky rice (best sticky rice I've ever had) However, the chili in oil fried rice was rather dry. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend to everyone.

After reading the reviews for this place I went with high expectations, but sadly these did not come to fruition.The rise was served in a plastic bag (yes a plastic bag), the main meal was delivered and some 20 min later I had to go and ask for the items they had forgotten.Sadly there are better Thai restaurant in the town.

Of course it's hard to prepare totally authentic food with local ingredients, but, I have to say they do a great job. We booked for a Friday night meal and just as well as they were full - always a good sign. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry.The food was good, tasty and well presented.Would we go back - oh yes.

We visited Zabb by accident, but glad we did. Really authentic flavours and very pleasant staff. Pad Thai was amazing and the Red Curry was to die for. I have been to a few Thai restaurants recently and this one is my fave. We will be back :-)

As a regular visitor to Thailand, it's hard to find good authentic Thai food in Oxfordshire. In my opinion there are only 2 establishments that measure up... Oli's Thai (you'll be lucky to get a table with a 3 month waiting list) and Zabb Thai. We regularly have takeaways from Zabb Thai and often dine here for special occasions. They've never let us down so far and don't think that they will. You won't be disappointed if you order from here. Great food and great service.

It is a shame that Zabb Thai is small because I am sure with food as good as this it would be filled if twice the size. The food is fresh and vibrant, I would prefer a little more chilli than their heat ratings seems to indicate, but owing to the shortage of space I may well go for a takeaway version next time because the food is the same.

We used to eat here or get takeaways regularly when we lived in Abingdon but we visited for the first time in a while this week and were pleased to see that their standards have remained high.The food is always absolutely delicious and clearly freshly prepared, and the restaurant has a nice authentic feel without feeling too forced or fake. We usually eat in and the food is excellent, first time we have had a takeaway, it was expensive to be fair, £60 for 4 people but I have to say best takeaway food I have had in a long time, left some as there was too much but unamed family member had demolished it. Repeat visits to this establishment as long as I have breathe.

The food was fresh and nicely presented. The food was tasty and I would visit again. The service was attentive but to be fair not very busy.

An early sitting was only available choice but that suits us fine. This is a lovely compact restaurant, such pleasant service. We opted for five on a set menu A - and oh my goodness what amazing food we had. Quite new to Thai food so this was an absolute delight and I can't wait to visit again. Don't be disappointed make sure you book.

The food is wonderful just like being in Thailand in this small but lovely little Thai restaurant ,the service is quick and the gentle man that serves you is very ,very polite i have been there on several times and would highly recommend the Zab Thai to any one .

On arrival we were taken to our table upstairs, which when we got up there we were the only ones in the room. For starters we had rubbery chicken satay, with a minuscule amount of satay sauce. We also had some odd tasting dumplings together with some spare ribs, with hardly any meat on. Still the only occupants upstairs, the mains arrived which I must say were much better than the starters. By the time we'd finished a couple more tables had been taken. Upstairs lacks atmosphere, it's very dull indeed. Upon leaving the atmosphere seemed much better downstairs. Won't be in a rush to go back, I much prefer the food and restaurant at the other Thai in town.

The Thai food is incredible. The building is ancient and if you eat upstairs the floor slopes in one direction and the building has loads of atmosphere as does the entire experience of eating here. Restaurant is run by one extended Thai family and the food is fabulous. We have eaten here on 2 occasions and had a great experience both times.

Dropped in on the off chance, restaurant is quite small and nice and busy for a Tuesday night, always a good sign in my eyes. Service was relaxed but good with the usual warm Thai welcome, despite there was only one person serving. Food selection was huge. We had the mixed starter and a Tom Yam soup, followed by the Chili chicken, Duck Chili with Chicken pad Thai. we had a variance of heat just to get the measure of the heat.... Soup was a 7, main dishes were a 15 and 25.... they were fantastic... really really good. Portions sizes were not massive and the prices fairly reflected this. I'll be back again soon. I would suggest you book as this place as it must be rammed at peak times.

One of my favourite places to eat, Zabb Thai manages to serve excellent Thai food at a reasonable price. The starters are fantastic. The toilets are tiny and very large people or people who suffer claustrophobia would find this a problem, they are also upstairs. The service is friendly although I often feel at busy times they should employ more staff.Take away is also very good.

Excellent service in this tiny fronted thai in Abingdon. Arrived at opening time on a Saturday but restaurant fully up and running, no delay to food and great portion sizes for both starters (Golden Balls highly recommended) and mains. Green vegetable curry was packed full of different veggies and very very good, same with red curry. Pad Thai excellent too. Thoroughly recommend and I will be going back fairly regularly. Sad they have stopped their delivery service but take away available.

Service was prompt and friendly.I had the calamari tempura for starter which was decent, if a rather small portion.For main I had Chu Chee fish which was delicious - with a really tasty sauce, and jasmine rice as an accompaniment.Can certainly recommend, and my friends enjoyed theirs as well - one of them was particularly appreciative of the fact that the deep fried chicken wings he ordered for starter had no bones in them!
