Service was mediocre. No friendly welcome. No ambience whatsoever. Had to ask for the candle on the table to be lit (I mean, why put it there?) Big wait between starters and mains. Watery over-cooked chicken tikka masala. No taste of tikka, more like a beef stock mixed with cream and no hint of coconut. Very disappointing. Tiniest prawns ever seen in the Balti. Charged £27 for an £8 bottle of Pinot but hey ho we sucked it up. Rices and garlic naan were nice. Told them we were celebrating a birthday but no extra attention or special treatment was made. Overall a generous 5/10. Won’t be back. Indigo in Saffron Walden is much nicer, for service, decor, ambience and quality of the food.

My husband and I ordered take away from Yuva to celebrate our anniversary. I ordered prawn passanda curry but was given a very plain, watery korma curry, nothing like what I was expecting! The peshwari naan's were burnt. My husband's dish was ok and they gave us free mushroom rice (that we didn't ordered). However, I would much rather have preferred to have the curry that I had ordered. I think there is room for improvement.

We came here for a Saturday night curry and had been here before a few years ago so did not think to check the menu and prices beforehand. We were so shocked when we saw the prices- £18.75 for a king prawn tikka masala! This just seems ridiculous for a curry house in Debden. That’s London prices. The building is so run down and we were sat outside on tables and chairs which had nails coming out, split wood and wonky legs. I wouldn’t mind paying the price if it was a beautiful restaurant but sadly it isn’t. The food was good but not worth the very expensive bill. Safe to say we won’t be returning, what a shame.

We went for spontaneous indian, for our first visit to yuva, I have to say the food was amazing but unfortunately the service was off it seems the owner had gone away but the staff had dropped the ball. We waited over an hour for our starters and then the mains turned up straight after. However I must stress the food was amazing and the boss was away according to the locals so going to have to go back in a few weeks when the boss was back.

Not been here for 2-3 years but so glad we returned. A cautionary word - service here can be a little slow so may not suit customers who are in a rush. That said, patient visitors will be rewarded by a lovely dining experience in a nice setting. I chose the Kamilau from the Nepalese selection - it was delicious and went very well with a mushroom pilau. The drinks are fairly priced and I can recommend their salt lassi. The service was gentle but effective. Overall, a delightful meal

Since the start of the first lockdown in March we’ve had 3 takeaways from Yuva and each one has been delicious - really flavoursome and the portion sizes very generous. All of the typical dishes are present on the menu BUT there are a great many others that are less commonly seen elsewhere - we usually select dishes from their Nepalese Collection for something different. The guys at Yuva are always the nicest, friendliest people and although we live in Saffron Walden we choose to go to Yuva in Debden for the great service and quality of the food for either a takeaway or an eat-in meal (when that is allowed) even though there are restaurants offering the same cuisine which are closer. We’ve been to Yuva a great many times over the years and the food and service have been consistently good (and well above average). We highly recommend a visit (for eat-in or takeaway).

I’ve never experienced such awful customer service in my life! The food was average but the reason that people go out to eat is to receive good service and to have a pleasant experience, which we definitely didn’t have! Rude waiter swore and shouted at us before storming off, amongst other issues. Others had warned me about this restaurant before but my partner and I wanted to give it a chance. What a big mistake! :( So disappointed.

I'd been going to yuva on and off for many many years. The food is divine. Last year I got diagnosed with T1D lada diabetes and started a low carb keto journey to manage it whilst honeymoon period kept me away from insulin usage. That journey ended in February and I started miniscule amounts of insulin and also decided to venture back to allowing myself a treat night once a week. These guys have been absolutely fantastic and changed/tweaked every meal I've ordered without hesitation unlike most restaurants I've encountered to be able to enjoy a meal with little impact on my blood glucose levels. Every dish is cooked fresh and OMG eye wateringly delicious. The chef is a magician and the staff are awesome. I can't wait till this pandemic is over and I can once again enjoy a nice evening out dining here again. If you've not tried it, your really missing out!!! It is the best Indian restaurant/takeaway I have ever had and I've buried lots. I'd never go anywhere else now. It's a gem

Despite the nice food we stopped coming here a couple of years ago due to slow service. We decide to try again. It was a mistake. We tried to book for 7:30 and were asked if we could manage 8pm instead, to which we agreed. We turned up on time, were sat down and brought poppadoms and our drinks quite soon. But then we sat and waited for 20 minutes before they took our order. We then waited and waited for the food. Dishes were coming out of the kitchen but not to us. By 9pm we were really hungry and asked when we would be served. We were told "soon".20 minutes later, still no food, no offer of something to keep us going. So we asked again and were told we were next after the current table had been seen to. By 9:30 we had about had enough. Others who had ordered around us had eaten, paid and left.Just as we were about to walk out, half of the order appeared. The other half followed a couple of minutes later and a belated offer of a free drink to make up for the wait. The food was good, as ever, but at it was now well over an hour and a half after we'd arrived (and that at a later time to suit them) and we were too tired to really appreciate it.We won't go back, there are better options in the area.

I am going to Nepal in the not too distant future, and I thought stopping into Yuva might afford me a foretaste of Nepalese cuisine. Perhaps it did, but if so then it's not much different from Bangladeshi cuisine. One thing I feel fairly confident about: true Nepalese cuisine, when I finally encounter it, is going to be significantly spicier than what I tasted at Yuva. That caveat aside, Yuva was fine. We sat outside at first, but the wind picked up and we moved in to a table by a window. Service was friendly, cheerful, and efficient. He helped us with our choices, but neglected to ask us how spicy we'd like things. In the end everything was very pleasant, but the food itself was not memorable.

The service was swift and the food was extremely tasty although I may ask for a little hotter next time as the madras was quite mild for my liking. Set in an old public house it doesn't quite offer the normal Indian ambience you would find in other establishments but it did add to the character of the place. We all enjoyed our meals. We had looked at the menu online before our visit, so I was surprised to find that the prices were probably 15% more than the online menu. This is quite a smallish ex pub converted into a 2 room restaurant. It is both intimate and open at the same time (if that makes sense) with plenty of room between tables so you can talk without being overheard.I have eaten here quite often and the waiting staff soon get to know you and are easy to get on with. Service is as quick or slow as you want it and if you want a leisurely meal they will stretch the courses. Now the food - be careful the portions are quite large and sharing is recommended unless you have a hearty appetite. I tend to stick with my tried and tested dishes - chicken tikka starter and meat madras but do stray into the specials or Chef Signature dishes they are very different and delicious.I have tried and can recommend:_Jenju which is strips of chicken breast in a terrific sauce a little spicy but interesting.Sabzee chicken and vegetables. A totally different dish.Dipali chicken with chick peas or Chana in Indian, mild creamy and quite a ginger under taste. The classic dishes are all here as well and to Yuva's high standard and they can make them to any heat "setting" you like. The other things you should know they have a week day 2 course lunch deal at £5.95 for 2 courses and a 3 course Sunday lunch for £10.95 (I think). All in all a very good restaurant and well worth the visit but please book as it is often busy.

To be fair when I pointed this out to the waiter I was given a new batch. However, these too were hard and overcooked. My main meal was brought to me about 7 minutes after the other three in our group had received theirs. This meant my rice was cold and there were only four pieces of chicken in my dish. Overall not a good experience although the others in our group enjoyed their meals. I was compensated for the poor Onion Bhaji's and was not charged for them. I will not be hurrying back.

A lovely warm late summer evening sitting under the trees sipping a beer and talking to our smiling and helpful waiter bodes an excellent start to the evening. We ate a jalfrezi and tandoori mixed grill with palak, rice, naans, and a sag. The food was up to its usual excellent standard, tasty, colourful and very authentic. We eat here fairly often because the food is consistently excellent and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We ate early and it was pretty quiet, though it got busier as we left. If you fancy an excellent range of curries and house specialities cooked freshly to order and served by smiling staff, give Yuva a go. It's a little gem in Debden.

We have not visited Yuva for several months. We were warmly received and offered the a la carte, and Sunday lunch menu. We choose the Sunday menu as it offered several choices of stater and main course. All four of us had different choices and all were tasted fantastic. We had a bottle of wine that was good value. All in all good food at good prices with great service Thank you

Oh my what a treat in the middle of this unassuming village! Originally the village pub, now serves gorgeous Asian Indian food reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great.

We've not been to Yuva for a couple of years now and not sure what's happened in the intervening years. The menus's changed and the food seems to have gone from very good to average / ok at best. Service friendly enough but a bit slow although in fairness it was very busy the night we visited.

I was really looking forward to my dinner at Yuva as the reputation it had from Stansted was sound, making it worth the journey and passing some favourite curry houses on the way to Debden.Yes we had authentic food and with great flavour from a menu that was varied from then norm. I do believe they try to make a difference, and it is noticeable. We had a pleasant dinner with friends in the old pub surroundings and, whilst being a little more expensive that other more run of the mill curry houses, was all top class to that point. Furthermore the place and the settings were clean and the service was good. There were two parts of pieces of chicken in my dish that had very odd texture, not over cooked but very tough and rubbery. I advised the waiter who said he'd take in back to the chef which he did. We heard no more. I thought no more of it, however in the morning I was particularly unwell and even the trusty Imodium wouldn't stop the issue for a few hours. I'm pretty certain that there was no other reason for this.I'd advise anyone worried about their personal safety to visit during the daylight hours as, whilst Debden is probably a very safe village, the car park and part of the path there is in total, darkness at night.Given that this is a destination restaurant there are safer offerings closer to home. I was really hoping that this account would have been stunning as I know they do try to provide a quality of food beyond what one normally expects, but the net outcome of this particular evening was disappointing and further missed business appointments for me the next day.

When ever we want to sit down for a curry (rather than have in on a tray in front of Friday night's telly) this is the place we go. Fresh ingredients, some novel dishes and great service in an old wood-beamed Essex pub means we have never been disappointed. It really is worth exploring the menu as these guys can cook. I like my food spicy and can recommend the Jenju Chicken. If you want to stick to Onion Bhajis and a Chicken Madras, though, don't worry. You won't be disappointed. The quality of the food is second to none.

The restaurant offers a quiet intimate experience. Tables are spaced so that you can enjoy your own meal but are close enough to converse with those around you. The staff were super friendly, service was attentive and quick and the food arrived quickly. I needed to have a low fat option and discussed the kind of food I liked with the waiter. He made a suitable recommendation and also informed the kitchen of the need to use as little oil as possible. The food arrived piping hot (garlic naan, pilau rice, jalfrezi and saag aloo), all at the same time and was all delicious.

With foresight we had reserved a table, which was good as the restaurant was really busy, most, if not all, tables were taken. We had last visited three years previously, and the service is still very good. Our table was by the kitchen door, and every time a 'sizzling' dish came out we were surrounded by smoke, which caught the back of the throat and caused our eyes to water! The menu is extensive, and varied, with Indian and Nepalese choices; but the dishes we had were fine, but not exceptional.Good use of a former country pub, but needs to up it's game.

This has been a go-to option for a number of years when we wanted a more upmarket curry than normal. Prices are a bit more as a result but it has pretty much always been worth it. A good mix of the classics and some more unusual dishes. There is a prawn starter which is both different and excellent. They have certainly managed to keep the character of the old pub building and it is now informally smart. The only slightly negative thing was the cost of the alcohol free cobras which worked out at over GBP7 a pint - quite a bit more than the normal version. Other than that all good.

We often eat at Yuva. It's local and friendly as well as being great value. We ordered paratha, naan, rice and a jalfrezi and a Palak. The portions are very generous and the food was tasty, hot and freshly cooked. The waiters are very helpful and friendly and always welcome diners like old friends. I'd recommend paying a visit. The food is authentic and really good value. You should book if you can - this place is very popular, deservedly so. You'll always leave replete and smiling. We'll be back again soon!

After hearing many amazing reviews, we thought we would order a takeaway from Yuva. We were told it would take 45 mins which wasn't great but thought it would be worth the wait, it wasn't. The filo prawns were raw (still grey, had to cook them in the oven in order to eat, sort of defeats the point of ordering a takeaway, I didn't want to cook!) the korma was okay but a bit bland, hubby's tikka masala just tasted smokey which overpowered the other flavours. Best part of the meal was the poppadoms!I hope it was just a bad night but we wont try again in order to find out, will stick to the indian takeaways in Saffron Walden.

We had a lovely meal at Yuva. Especially enjoyed the mixed starter- it was enough for us to share. The Chicken tikka masala was really nice and made with good quality ingredients. We also ordered chicken korma but in my opinion it was more like butter chicken but again still enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

What an overused expression "hidden gem" is. This really is a "hidden gem". Had absolutely no idea this place existed, and so close to us. Great warm welcome from the front of house staff, they could not have been more helpful. Great seat by the window overlooking the village of Debden. The menu is Indian/Nepalise and very extensive. The starter, lamb chops, were amazing. I wish I had ordered them for the main course as well. The main course portions were huge. Doggy bags were needed . At the end of the meal it looked as though there was just as much food as when we started. A great evening with great food and service. We shall be returning.

Our waiter Ali made us feel welcome from the second we walked in to the restaurant tonight!!... He made a fuss over the kiddies by showing them origami, joking with them & at the end giving them free mini cocktails!!... Food was gorgeous and for very reasonable prices. Didn't even have to wait too long in between courses and it is a Friday night!.... Even when they were getting rly busy their 5* service did not alter in the slightest!!... Will DEFINITELY be returning again!!.... Thanks for a lovely dining experience!!

Yuva is always a good stopping place for us and for a takeaway as well. The staff are extremely helpful and efficient. The menu is very varied with many different types of curry i.e. Nepalese and the specialty dishes too, in fact it is difficult to choose when ordering because there is so much choice! The last time we visited we were a little late because we had been to a lecture in Cambridge, but they were extremely accommodating even though it was late. Definitely worth a visit or a takeaway.

I had a terrible experience at this shop, mainly due to the behavior of one staff member named Imz. His attitude was rude, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Instead of being helpful, he made the situation worse with his dismissive and disrespectful behavior. To make matters worse, there were clear signs of discrimination, which is shocking and disgraceful. Despite raising my concerns, nothing was done to address the issue or offer any resolution. This shop seriously needs to improve its service and train its staff on proper customer care. I would never recommend this place to anyone
