I have been frequenting the Yungnien House for some years now after a lovely evening on the town with my comrades. Yesterday evening, the 28th, I visited the takeaway on my own. I enter the establishment, filled with hungry inebriated customers yelling, one man said I looked lost and called me a rude word. I wait in the queue of 2 people for around 8 minutes which was a long time if you ask me. I then begin to say my order but I am interrupted by the worker who for this review is known as "Joan". Joan demands that I tell a customer her food is ready. After doing so Joan asks what food I would like. So I tell her, pay the overpriced amount and sit down waiting for food. I waited 30 minutes for a chow mein and rice. I then arrive home and open my bag of food. Inside is not rice. It is curry. I did not order this. My meal was ruined even further by the poor excuse for a chow mein, filled with loads of carrot and red peppers. It may have been an off night for them as usually the food is most delightful and I find myself craving more. I will still continue to frequent this takeaway after a night out as it is the only viable option with the alternative Asain cuisine being a pathetic takeaway called Sunlight.

Tastin limpio, fresco, la carne era pura y libre de grasa / cartílago. ¡No podría pedir una mejor comida asiática que de esta comida para llevar! ¡GRACIAS! ! ! Caldera ahora y un sueño con una barriga llena de contenido! ! ¡hermoso!

This is take away only, and has a very clean and well kept waiting area. The lady at the till was lovely and polite. I had salt and pepper ribs which were very good. The crispy coating was perfect, and they were well seasoned. I had a Szechuan special, the only issue was that there wasn't enough of the sauce. It tasted great. The chips were pretty standard Chinese takeaway chips. I will be going back!

Tasty Chinese meals. A bit on the expensive side but the meals are always fresh and tasty. Espresso after a night out on the town ha ha!

Under cooked chicken and service was poor, really poor. Very abusive chef. Don't be visiting ever again.

Great food, fast service and lovely owners. Had a lovely carry out from this take away and it was hot and tasty.

Been here twice now as I always like to give a place a second chance. However the first time I went the food was good tasting, but quite cold after just picking up 10 minutes before. The second visit, I had the crispy shredded beef, one of my favorite dishes. But this was over crispy... in fact black, and burned to within an inch of its life. Completely inedible. Sorry, but I would not go here again.

Some places merely satisfy a hunger but there are also those that provide an experience you will never forget. Yungnein House is firmly in the latter category. This is the most authentic, high quality Chinese food you can get in the UK. It's worth a trip to Barrow just to sample the amazing delights served up in this modest but spectacular eaterie. Friendly staff who keep you amused whilst you wait and a huge range to choose from, this is a place you MUST visit if you want a gastronomic treat like no other.

I want to split this review into two parts: Food & Customer service. Food: Fantastic. Everything is hot and really tasty. I really like the Oriental twist on English favourites like Salt & Pepper chips. As bonus they will add 4,000,000 scovilles of PURE CAPSICUM HEAT to any meal for only 70p which at 4am on a Sunday morning is the easiest way to demonstrate to person you've pulled how manly you are. Customer Service: This is where they excel. They stay open way past closing time at the clubs. They understand their customer base and cater for them well both with tasty quality food and a spacious waiting area. The owner's son (?) is especially great with the clientele and loves nothing more than some late night top bantz. Hard to fault it really. A Barrow institution. 👍

Oscar Wilde once said 'I have the simplest of tastes. I am always satisfied by the best' well he certainly would've enjoyed the vibrant flavours supplied by Yungnien's. We've all been there past kicking out time. I left the local pub a bit too merry and craving some good old fashioned British Chinese takeaway. I walked around for 10 minutes and couldn't find anything that appealed to me. Then on the horizon of Cavendish Street, there it was. A light in the tunnel. An oasis of hope in a desert of despair. Was this a mirage? Of course not. It was Yungnien's I entered and joined the queue which was roughly 10 people long. Popular for that time of night, my expectation was raised. I was then quite anxious about ordering as I assumed they'd be frustrated with the workload and slightly boisterous atmosphere created from my fellow customers. I was wrong to assume. I was greeted with a charming, friendly attitude with patience and already apologised for the wait. I ordered and duly waited. As the wait was slightly longer he chucked in some free prawn crackers which I'm sure he'll do for a number of customers. I got home and tucked in. The first mouthful was a metropolis of different spices and vibrant flavours all fighting for my taste buds attention. I savoured every mouthful. Every forkful was tinged with a slight regret that my meal was closer to finishing. I didn't have Yungnien's takeaway that night. Yungnien's takeaway had me. So, Mr Wilde, if you're ever frequenting the streets of Barrow. Declare your greatness into Yungnien's.

I'm not one for leaving reviews in general, unless something is rather special. This is well spesh. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff working there made this worth the trip alone, they were so much fun. Even though it was 4am and the place was full, they treated me as if I was the only one in there. If you want excellent food, top bantz and somewhere warm to wait for your taxi Yungnien House is the place to be. I might skip the clubs next time and just hang out there for the evening, all they need to do is install a small bar or perhaps a vending machine with cans and I wouldn't ever leave. 10/10 for both food and atmosphere.

Absolute top place for an end of the night Chinese. Always a good crack and the foods spot on as well. Slightly over priced but that doesn't really matter when you've had a few scoops. Brilliant place.

Can't believe how consistently good the food here is.Always get hot food that tastes great. What more can you ask for?
