YumYum Restaurant in Hackney

Just went for cocktails. Luckily Rash, the main bartender/mixologist supreme was working. Mixed up an off menu peach brandy cocktail with a dash of elderflower liqueur - like the most amazing subtle peach ice cream. Sublime. Also had a chilli Margherita. Top quality Patron tequila and all fresh ingredients made it such a clean moreish drink which heated up as it went down. Don't ever waste your time with pre-mixed cocktails, come to this bar to taste the real thing.

everything went well, only the service wasn't the best, we returned a dish saying it had no taste and the waitress was rude to us, plus we even paid for it! we will return because it is a nice place. Nice atmosphere

Ordered a takeaway. Delivered by UberEats. One of the ordered (and paid for) items was not in the delivery. Called the restaurant. Spoke to the kitchen manager who, despite the delivery bag being thoroughly sealed on arrival and the item clearly therefore not put into the delivery bag, insisted that it had been and that therefore I needed to complain to UberEats and get my refund through them. How about taking responsibility for your own product and service, Yum Yum? You cook it, you put in the bag, you seal it therefore clearly the item wasn't put in the bag, and therefore it's down to you to satisfy the customer rather than blaming it on a third party. Won't be using or going to Yum Tum again. Very disappointing.

My friends organised a dinner for my hen party at Yum Yum. I've been to this restaurants several times over the years and although I always enjoyed it, I was surprised to find out it got even better! We had shared appetisers for the vegetarians, meat and fish eaters, followed by shared mains. I've tried some of everything and I was very impressed by the quality. Everything was fresh and very well cooked, the meat was excellent. We had cocktails to begin with which were really great (my favourite was Thai Silk - check it out on their menu). Impeccable service and lovely decor made it all the better. I will definitely go back soon!

Came here last night with a friend. The staff are truly amazing, attentive and friendly. The food was lovely and full of flavour, great cocktails also. Honestly can’t fault the restaurant at all, looking forward to going back.

My partner booked this place for our date night and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great, the restaurant itself is really beautiful and the customer service was even better. The pad Thai was the best I’ve had and I can’t wait to go back again. What great gem. I will be recommending this spot to all of my friends and family. We’ll be coming down from Essex again soon.

Just awful! the worst experience of my life, chicken served instead of fish, was told it was minced fish when it obvisiously wasn't, lied to then told we were right all along! The manager was rude dealing with this situation, especially when you don't eat meat & order fish to get chicken is somewhat appauling. There was also a mouse running around the restaurant having the time of his life too! So watch your food & watch out for rodents!!

Appalling! Chinese takeaway is cheaper and tastier. Bad value for money and please do not get a sharing menu. Even though the food wasn’t terrible, I ate some out of date duck that left my bottom cheeks burning. would not recommend

We live in Bolton but have family in London so visit here regularly. Always good service and good food. Stayed for cocktails and the bar tender is always accomodating and makes great cocktails.

This is definitely the best Thai restaurant I have been to. Very nice restaurant with stylish interior and very spacious surroundings. I was not expecting Stoke Newington to have such a nice restaurant and was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this. Excellent food and service. We ordered the mixed starter for two, beef panang, and lamb massaman. Attentive service, always with a smile. Prompt and accurate delivery of food. Fresh, tasty and hot. Accommodated our doggie bag. We stayed for a cocktail afterwards and attended to by amazing mixologist Rash. Really knew his stuff. Enthusiastic and keen to please. Created beautiful spicy tequila and an original Mai Tai. Worth just going there for the cocktails.

I LOVE the food here. Everything is so delicious but I love the green and red curries in particular. I also love the pad ke mao. It’s lovely to eat in as well, with an extensive cocktail menu. It’s a bit on the expensive side but it is well worth it when you want to treat yourself to a really nice meal. I have been going here for years and it has never let me down.

Visited this restaurant on a whim after a walk in Abney Park Cemetry left us very hungry. The food was really tasty and there was a huge variety to choose from. The service was very good too! Will go back.

Stoke Newington is full of good restaurants and pubs serving all sorts of food.Thai food is a favourite of all my family and we love trying out different restaurants.We had been to Yum Yum a few times before this visit,which was a family birthday, and never been disappointed.Once again the food was fabulous and the staff very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was also great and everyone had a wonderful evening.The restaurant is always busy and booking is recommended.I look forward to my next visit and can’t wait.

Walking up the stairs and you come to the bar area and you see there are a few seating areas but you don’t get to appreciate the size and number of covers (over 300) till you walk around. This place is huge but it is all partitioned with screens so you never feel isolated or that you are in a big function type space and keeping a nice authentic experience wherever you are seated. The authenticity is further enhanced by the traditional seating section which I think is great. Here you have to take your shoes off and seat on the floor but made more comfortable with a sunken area so very pleasant and a coy pond to really make you feel you are away and transported to the Far East. I am also informed the chefs are from various areas of Thailand so allowing for regional dishes to be both truly authentic but also allowing for fusion dishes between different areas of Thailand to be created. The staff are so welcoming and warm and even on a cold day you feel warm from the moment you enter. The drinksLet’s begin our journey with the vast drinks selection. A full menu of cocktails and mock-tails that even a nightclub would struggle to make and all made in house from fresh ingredients. Including the mixers which are all hand made. I don’t think anyone would leave dissatisfied or disappointed from the offering here for sure. Always so happy to see uniqueness and variety in a drinks menu that also caters for non-drinkers. The foodThe menu is authentic and you will struggle to choose which dishes to order as you will want to try them all, so I would advise you go with friends so you can order more. The servers are really nice and so is management so down to earth and were happy to help and guide. StartersThai Prawn Cakes served with a sweet chilli sauce - Really soft and the home made chilli sauce shines through. Even the prawn crackers are served with one of the most amazing and freshly made home made pickles I have ever had. I am not a pickle person but Yum Yum has converted me. SoupTom yum goong [House special hot & sour soup with prawns, mushrooms & Thai herbs] - A nice clear soup with a kick and served with prawns and nice chunky mushrooms. Had a fresh and zesty lemon taste that really refreshes and cleansed the pallet. A great starter for these colder months. Main CoursesLamb Mussaman - Another house special similar to Beef red curry but more of a kick and more complex taste structure which is richer and creamier in taste. The lamb just melts and a dish you have to try. I can’t wait to have this again. Som Tam [Spicy grated Papaya & Carrot salad with palm sugar, Thai herbs and peanuts] - served cold but fresh with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Really refreshing salad to start and compliment the other flavours of the main dishes. Beef Red curry - Beef red curry an amazing creamy coconut and spicy taste. Not too spicy and beef perfectly cooked. If you want more spice go for the Lamb Mussaman. Thai Noodle soup with Duck [Choice of pad Thai or Ho-fun noodles in beef stock with slow cooked beef or Duck, spring onions, bean sprouts, celery, spring onions, coriander and chilli] - A more subtle dish for those who like it mild and not spicy. We had the duck and was again cooked to perfection. Stir-fried Morning Glory - Morning glory crunchy and with the right amount of fresh garlic. DessertBanana Fritter with coconut ice cream [Fresh homemade coated banana fritters served with Coconut ice cream and golden syrup] - I am no fan of coconut other than in perfumes (love the smell as I do with coffee but I don’t drink coffee) but in some cases it’s just right amount of flavour and in this case it was perfect and compliments the banana fritter so worth a try. Thai Coconut Roll [Warm coconut filled pancake served with coconut ice cream and honey] - One of Yum Yum’s signature dishes. As this is served with the same excellent coconut ice cream I prefer this dish as the pancake was freshly made. Conclusion The sign of a good place is in the memories it creates and I can still see the place and taste the food so this does go into my top 10 places and finding good Thai restaurants which are not a chain is harder to find these days so I am glad this came along. Portion sizes are all sharing portions. So be ready for a doggy bag or two.

Friday night was busy, but we booked. Booking was pleasant and easy. Cocktails were very good, but food was average at best. The worst part of the evening was the noise in the restaurant. We struggled to hold a conversation at our table. And then there was the sneaky 10% service charge automatically added to the bill, which we thought was undeserved. We’d already paid the bill before we saw this. It’s actually against the law to automatically add service charge, it has to be discretionary and separate to the bill, but we just wanted to escape the noise and couldn’t be bothered to argue it. Won’t be returning.

Definitely the best Thai restaurant in London you must try their pineapple prawn rice, we ordered it twice and both times it was amazing

We love this place - the food never disappoints and it’s really cheap for some reason. Everything is spotless, from service to cleanliness to flavours. The duck and lamb curries are excellent. Two things are puzzling:1. The bad reviews on tripadvisor (I’ve been here three times and the food has always been great)2. The immense central London property. This restaurant is HUGE, and almost always empty during lunch time!!? We will definitely come back!

This place was on my bucket list for a while as I had driven driven past it loads of times & the exterior is extremely grand. I decided to take a date there & it was the best decision I could have ever made. The interior of this place is also incredible. It’s lowly lit & decorated beautifully. The waiters were incredibly patient & friendly and the food was delicious!!!! You know this place is the spot because there were a few birthday celebrants there & literally almost everyone in there was laughing or happy enjoying their food. However I must say, drinks are over priced!

Have always driven past this restaurant for many years and never been in until this year. The food was enjoyable and drinks which I choose were ok. We came on a Saturday night to celebrate my uncle’s bday and had an amazing time. The vibe was warm, busy but friendly and the food was DEELISH! The set menu’s were cost effective for our large group and I personally appreciated the vast cocktail list especially my fav: Porn Star Martini’s.

I ordered from Deliveroo, and after waiting over an hour and a half, the driver arrived without my food and with no explanation as to what happened / where it was. The restaurant did not answer the phone and til now I have no idea where my food went or why the driver was able to come to my address without picking it up. Absolutely shocking service. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Had lunch here with some friends. Car park was full but if you drive to end of road there are no restrictions near the flats. We all went for the lunch special, 2 courses for £9.55. I had the golden bags. Very small and not as flavourful as I’ve had elsewhere. Also tried one of the fishcakes which was very rubbery. My prawn pad Thai was plentiful those the prawns were very few and noodles very bland. Love Thai food normally but found the lunch menu disappointing. Funnily enough the friends I went with love this place and had been raving about it but I didn't enjoy it at all.

I've never been so disappointed about a set menu, the portion to value range was shockingly small and lacked authenticity, the green curry was not green and did not have much taste the chicken was rubbery, overall the meat set menu was terrible ! The starter was literally one snack each all for £60! And we waited a long time between starter and main. Most dissatisfied restaurant I've been to yet and will never go back.

Attended a Birthday celebration at Yum Yum last Saturday, the decor was a pleasure to look at and the food and atmosphere even better. It was very busy , with a large number of groups celebrating birthdays etc ( l was a party of 18), hence service was slow but when the food eventually arrived it was certainly worth the wait and so much of it- l was totally stuffed, in the nicest possible way

The pictures make it look amazing, but don't be fooled food was taste less. And very over priced. Prawns tasted like water absolutely no seasoning. The fried rice was curried and bland. Wouldn't recommend or return in a hurry. There was a KFC across the road, which would of be so much better wish we went there instead.

Fui con unos amigos para una comida ligera y algunas bebidas, la comida era excelente, los cócteles eran increíbles, el Bar Tender estaba feliz de preparar cualquier cóctel que quisiéramos que no estuviera en la lista. El servicio fue fabuloso, sin duda lo recomendaría, para familias, amigos y parejas.

Yum Yum . Curry tailandés ROJO. El pollo sabía que estaba en el turno listo para salir. No hay chiles frescos o ingredientes frescos. En realidad sabía como una sopa de tomate cremosa. No es del todo tailandés. Esto era horrible y caro para una comida de tan mala calidad. No volveré. Definitivamente ido cuesta abajo. He tenido mejor calidad y degustación tailandesa en un pub por la mitad de precio. Realmente no sabía a curry tailandés y en mi tiempo comí mucha comida tailandesa. Decepcionante El fieltro estafado

THEY COULD NOT BE BOTHERED - SO DON'T BOTHER

We walked out of this restaurant after one mouthful of our meals as they were both just too salty to eat. They took our payment without asking why we were leaving with full plates in front of us. Avoid.

I visited this place 2 times. They have nice cocktails and nice Thai food. On Friday and Saturdays very busy. If you are looking nice food and nice atmosphere this is good choice.

We loved this restaurant, it exceeded expectations. Some of the negative reviews almost put us off going but so glad we did. Some people suggest that the service is slow, this certainly wasn't the case on our visit, however it's a massive restaurant so if packed out (which it was) I can see how service could be slower than your average 15 table establishment. The food was tasty, the prices very reasonable and the cocktails were amazing! Will definitely visit this place again soon :-)

Service was quick. Food was good, on the avarage I would say.

The restaurant Have ignored my emails regarding my complaint of poor quality food that I paid £27 for ( two courses set menu ) which consisted of tacky frozen starters like spring rolls / chicken or probably Pidgeon balls and then followed by duck - which I wouldn't not be surprised if it was rat. I have reported them to hackney council food standards

I have been wanting to try here for a while and I wish I never bothered coming.

Hour wait for pre-booked table was a sign of what to expect and it only went downhill from there. Ship them in and ship them out was the order of the evening with service lacking in all areas. One of our party received her meal when we had all finished ours. Food was overpriced and served at varying Temps. Majority just warm. Some of the cheaper ingredients substituted in traditional Thai dishes were comical. The set menu prices are an insult to anyone's intelligence and the complimentary glass of prosecco as an apology for wait and poor service was a sign of the poor understanding of customer expectations. Sort out the acoustics, the noise is deafening, am sure school dinner halls are not as noisy

Had a great time with my friends but was very disappointed with the food. I love Thai food and I know my taste to perfection. Tom yum was so horrible that it has put me off from my favourite soup.

Si usted sufre de síndrome de mundo perfecto - evitar! Stoke Newington tiene Yum Yum es bajado seriamente! Demasiado caro para la cena y el almuerzo - son especiales tiempo inconsistente.

What a letdown. Small portions overpriced and really not good Thai food. The dishes are presented with big pieces of lettuce and not much more on the plate, we left after the starters. There are so many better Thai restaurants around so stay clear.

This place was amazing and catered to my vegan restrictions. I ordered the Ma Po bean curd in a chilli sauce which was so flavorful and an order of Singapore vermicelli noodles. Fresh, fast service and look forward to eating here again. They are also on UberEats! :)

Ordered green curry, fried rice, papaya salad, some starters and they all tasted terrible. We ate just two three spoons and asked for the bill. It actually ruined my evening. So, first time and last time!

Great food, service and presentation. The quality of the food was good and the presentation of the food and restaurant was good too. Very good, welcoming and smiley service from all staff. It's quite a large restaurant with low lighting and low seating if you prefer that for larger parties. There is an outside area in the front to sit and chill for a small number of guests. Toilets downstairs were clean and tidy. The chocolate fondant dessert is to die for! Very much enjoyed.

Staff members were quite nice but it has definitely gone downhill from what I use to remember. Yum yum platter was dry and flavourless. Also overpriced for what it is worth.
