Yr Hen Printworks in Ceredigion

Lovely place for dinner, great cocktail menu and delicious taster plates, we tried a lot of different things and they were all exquisite. Friendly service too.

Always amazing! So wish we could afford to go every week! Menu is always interesting with regular changes. Staff are excellent and good is gorgeous

I enjoyed our visit, very clean and prompt service with happy friendly staff. My favourite dishes were the gnocchi, the crab and the rhubarb panna cotta. My only criticism would be the size of table we were seated at. Yes there was only the two of us but we were seated to the left of the doors at the side of the stairs. With the menu holder, two glasses of wine, two glasses for water along with the water bottle, the side order of bread and butter along with the side plates and side order of chips, three or four orders of food all arriving at the same time there was not a square centimetre of table top available. Yes we felt very cramped. As it was only 5pm there was only one other table in use, we should have asked for a larger table but it was our first visit so did not know how our food would arrive.

The food here, lovingly prepared by top chef, Chris Walker, is truly exceptional. The meal was absolutely delicious and exquisitely presented. The old print works /chapel building has been renovated with care, the atmosphere is relaxed and staff were friendly.

What a wonderful place in every way. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff, taken to our table. Dan, the waiter, was so informative, helpful and chatty. The food was absolutely delicious. We eat small plates regularly, but these small plates were some of the best we have eaten. It was a brilliant experience all round. If you want a special time, you must go eat here.

The food was excellent. We love the concept of "small plates" and all of the dishes we ordered were imaginative, beautifully presented, and incredibly tasty. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The building is stunning. We will definitely return on our next visit to Cardigan.

Recently visited this restaurant, there was a lovely atmosphere, busy but the tables were well spaced. The small plates menu had plenty of choice and the quality and flavours were fantastic and enough for two to share. Definitely recommend a visit. I would like to thank the staff who helped us, my wife cut her finger and the staff were immediately on hand to provide support and a first aid kit....

We chose Ty Hen for a rare meal out by ourselves, and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent and good value. Our favourite dishes were the haddock and the gnocchi. The home made bread was so so good! The service was perfect, staff very friendly, chatty and in good humour. All-in-all, strongly recommended.

I’ve been here for meals twice so far but many more on the cards I hope. Delicious small plates of imaginative, varied and tasty food. The staff are great, well informed, friendly and attentive. The decor and atmosphere is lovely. The cocktails are also gorgeous. On the two occasions I have visited the menu has been different, and I really appreciate the variety.

Really lovely dining experience, some of the dishes aren't balanced and certain elements were completely overpowering. (Whole table felt the same and we sampled multiple of nearly every dish on the menu) Staff & chef were really friendly and accommodating of SDR's. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend as with anything personal taste & I would return because the quality of food is excellent.

Where to start. Firstly it's a beautifully renovated building, it's stunning. The staff were outstanding, friendly, attentive and they knew the menu and were excellent on recommendations. The food is something else, the quality of the ingredients was excellent and the chief did some amazing things with it. Flavours, portion size was all just right. I really can't fault anything I had and I'm quite fussy when eating out. The owner of the business is hands on, right in the thick of it. All produce is local which is fabulous to see and to know that by eating there, your supporting a whole range of local businesses. I really can't recommend Y Hen Printworks enough. It was a lovely night out.

Our first experience of the latest menu at Yr Hen Printworks last night, and even our high expectations of this place were surpassed. We both thought the food was quite sensational. Add in the welcoming, friendly service and pleasant ambience and it's really hard to beat. Strongly recommended.

Went here New Year's Eve although it was busy service was quick and friendly, food was great, especially the sea bream and the treacle tart (yum). Cocktails were also good, would definitely recommend this place.

I can’t fault the setting, food and service which were all brilliant. We did feel the restaurant was slightly overpriced - and we live just outside of London so are used to pretty high prices! Mark-ups on bottles of wine are particularly high - for example, £42 for some Welsh wine which is <£15 a bottle at Waitrose. I’m all for supporting local but the quality of the wine didn’t justify the mark-up. We also felt a couple of the dishes were overpriced considering portion size. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit but it’s definitely more of a special occasion place.

Delighted to find this place on our doorstep. They fit us in on my wife's birthday after another restaurant cancelled our booking (made months ago) at short notice. Staff were wonderfully attentive without being intrusive. Food was delicious. We found 3 small plates and a side each plus dessert was a perfect sized meal. Good range of drinks and reasonably priced. We'll be back soon.

Very disappointing. Pre-ordered our meals; food arrived before some of us had even taken our coats off. Wine arrived after we had started eating. Whilst some guests were still eating, we were told we'd have to vacate the table by a ceratyin time (30 minutes) and then they proceeded to clear our table! Not relaxing and extremely rushed. When you pay Michelin star prices, you expect Michelin star service.

Absolutely fabulous meal at the Printworks this evening. From the amazing atmosphere with the wood burner and the tastefully decorated tree to the sensational and delicious food to the warm welcome and the great service. The menu is absolutely wonderful and we will need to visit a few more times to take full advantage. One of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time and we are real foodies. Highly recommended and thank you for making our evening. Amazing.

Printworks is an incredible place! The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere is spot on and the food is just soooo blooming tasty (let's not forget the mega options on the drinks front too,from tasty cocktails to local beers, they've got it all!). Love the small plates so you can have all sorts of tasty things on the table for everyone to share (or just get your own selection just for you!), they are really great at accommodating allergies too...I find it really hard to eat out anywhere these days but coming here is just amazing...they really know what they are doing! I will return as much as I can, mind blown once again and a perfect evening out,places like this make me smile...thankyou for being so awesome ❤️

Amazing night at the old printworks. Every course we had was perfect, even down to the bread and butter! All the staff were lovely too, very good value for money considering the quality of food. For a "small plates" restaurant I was disappointed to only have a choice of 7 dishes including one dish Chorizo & pickles that is more of an assembly than a worked dish. The bread side dish was the highlight for me and the shepherd pie...

Absolutely brilliant restaurant. My wife and I ordered and shared all of the small plates on the menu along with bread and an amazing potato terrine side. It was all delightful. Service was efficient and friendly. Every single dish was tasty and extremely well presented. If you are anywhere within 20 miles of this place, then make a booking and go. We paid around £100 plus tip for the food, a cocktail, a cider and two lovely desserts. A steal for the quality on offer.

As soon as we walked in the door - we knew we were in for a treat.. From the sinfully "more-ish" Passionfruit martinis to the last spoonfull of dessert - it didnt disappoint. Everything was so delicious we kept sharing mouthfuls - not wanting anyone to miss out. So good we booked again for 2 nights later!!

Had the most delicious food this evening at Yr Hen Printworks. Each dish was exceptional. Creative use of flavours and textures. Out party of three enjoyed a variety of dishes. The stand out dish for me was the Roast Hake - Shellfish Bisque - Fennel - Rouille. We finished our meal off with tonka bean pana cotta which was delicious. I’ve visited before but the food just gets better and better. It really is unmissable if you visit Cardigan. Big thank you to the team for such a great job!

This is probably 'the' place to eat and be seen eating in Cardigan at the moment. Yr Hen Printworks is a charming restaurant serving small dishes that are skilfully crafted and a delight to behold (even if they are teeny weeny). A friend and I chose Yr Hen Printworks to enjoy a crafted cocktail and a bite to eat. Service was friendly - a lot of establishments these days seem to have forgotten the value of a smile and a friendly face. After enjoying a cocktail we meandered onto the small plates menu. As is the trend these days it just list ingredients, so you have to use your imagination to guess what will turn up. After selecting salmon (a tiny chunk of perfectly cured pink salmon), kedgeree arancini (small but perfectly formed spheres ideal for sharing), potato terrine (a rectangle of crunchy potato with some dark gunk) and carrots (in contrast to all the other tiny portions a mountain of spiced carrots appeared), we could pick through the delicately presented plates. It is a feast for the eyes, if not the tastebuds. This was accompanied by a delicious Romanian pinot noir from the extensive wine list. I didn't have my camera with me on this occasion, so definitely a reason to return and choose more dishes for a photo-shoot...The building is a lovely restoration of the former newspaper print works, with lots of light wood. The only downside was the acoustics and (background noise) and being sat on the galley felt a little bit out of the action - it's usually a pleasure to observe other people enjoying their meals too.

Exceptional quality food coupled with exceptional service. We had a mixture of vegetarian dishes and one fish dish with two deserts between us both. I really cannot recommend this restaurant enough. First night in Cardigan and we came across this place early one evening. Hadn't booked but managed to get a table in the patio outside. Very friendly service and conversation from young, enthusiastic team and the manager/owner. We took all the vegan options and they were really delicious - small plates, big flavour (and decent sized portions too). Only regret - we didn't get to enjoy the interior - which looks lovely.

Was looking forward to going to the printworks but was a little disappointed. For the money we spend (and it's definitely at the more expensive end) the food was no better than average. The building is very nice and the service was excellent. No complaints at all. However, the food was a bit inconsistent. Some was definitely overseasoned and, considering the size of the menu, many of the items just didn't warrant the price. I'm sorry to be negative as I really wanted to enjoy the night but it just didn't live up to my expectations.

Chris is clearly talented, the team around him are fervent disciples, the restaurant is charming, the food is delicious. This place will excel - once the wine list is nailed. A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine. Ditch Tesco and embrace international, great value wines that match international, great value, small plates. Found this gem on a rainy Monday evening...hadn't booked and thankfully was now opened on Mondays. What a find -exceptional experience! Service , cocktails (especially pineapple chilli margarita) food and atmosphere superb...well deserving of many more awards. Will return!

Popular restaurant movement - English tapas seems apparently hard to nailed. This place though have The best English tapas I’ve had. Creative presentation and modern flavour combination of 🇬🇧 classics, all time Mediterranean favourites, very welcoming service who kept us warm and welcomed with our dog. My favourites were fish Thai curry and roasted carrots. I’m not a fan of the seafood based Asian curries as it’s hard to overpower fish with strong flavours. But in this curry everything was perfect. Oh and a home made bread is a must! Very lovely touch to have not a regular sourdough but a fluffy brown soda rolls yum!!!
