Go there a few times a week food is always perfect for me and for the money your carnt complain

Lovely food, great service. It is always an indication of a good chippy when there is a queue out of the door. Will be back!

This used to be one of my favourite places for fish chips and their scallops . When we opened them they were swimming in grease the chips were dark and full of black fat bits , one very small fish mostly batter the other one bigger, the scallop was the same warmed up and only one in the bag we ordered 3 . I'm not sure what's happened to this place but never again

Tried here for the first time recently. The food actually tasted pretty good despite not being very warm, however it's 2 days later and I'm still very sick from this food. I unfortunately won't be returning.

Unfortunately some of the reviews are correct- ignore at your peril. I had curry and chips from jere 2 days ago, noticed it wasnt too warm- i ate it open/straight away. Yesterday not felt great and wanted to just go to bed felt terrible wife had to drive me to hospital with blood pressure 97/68 stayed there for 7.5hours while did tests - felt terrible. Not slept all last night- sickness and diarrhoea. Never again im afraid. I used to have a chip shop and the env health always said virtually impossible to get food poisoning off fish and chips as cooked at 180deg c. Sauce however is a different matter- temperature and going by the colour- it looked like it had been there a while- was v dark- compared to portrack which used a similar recipe. AVOID i will be reporting

Menu and food been the same since the 70s. Best curry sauce around and brilliant chips. Special curry is a masterpiece. Fish and chips with a portion of curry to dip your fish in mmmmmmmmm.

Best fish and chips in Teesside for my money. We moved to Hartlepool from Boro about 25 years ago but I still prefer Chow's to anything in Seaton Carew so regularly go back for a chippy lunch. Only 'downside' is experiencing the delights of Parliament Road when picking it up.

This IMHO is the best Fish and chip shop in Yorkshire, and I've tried most of them. Fried in traditional beef dripping, no half cooked white chips here, nicely golden brown, the only down side is it's location, Parliament Road is full of filthy, criminal, aggressive, illegal migrants that obviously hate British people, they've littered and fly tipped everywhere.

Probably the best Chinese takeaway in Middlesbrough. Been around for years, and never failed to impress. Also do fish and chips that are lovely also.

Chows back at it's best, beautiful double fried chips, large fish and tasty curry sauce. Regularly visiting from Hartlepool, worth the drive over.

Absolutely disgusting .. taste like nothing

I use this Chineses all the time but now portions smaller and less meat in the dishes and a price increase dissapointing

Worst chinese in the whole of the UK l, everyone in my family that ate from there has got food poisoning and 1 family member is actually in hospital , they can't even cook a proper curry souce it taste disgusting they serv half bag of chips half bag of rice they put boiled egg in a house special curry but hardly no meat these people should be closed down ,if you want to open a chinese takeaway then first Lear to cook and stop positing people , iv asked around and this has happened to many people before. Your takeaway is filthy your food is rotten and your hygiene is the worst iv ever seen , I hope for the publics safety and people's well being that they shut this he'll hole down

Was alright not as good as it used to be but it was busy.

Very friendly, reasonably priced, I went here as the curry is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous but I don't recommend not sure if I just got it on a bad day or whatever but it wasn't to my taste but everyone's different, food was a bit greasy but was decent

Curry sauce gone right down hill ,been going here for 30 years and it's a no for me ,what have you done to the curry its vile now.

Parliament road chows is poor chips are black poor warm ups where as Oliver street is like 100 times better

Called in today as just opening,got our usual order and all delicious though must say chips are different now,socially distancing ok apart from son and mother bag heads in what a disgrace could hardly speak and stand up but should expect it here as this is the worst road in Middlesbrough for trouble but don’t let that put you off just be careful and observant ,good menu and great prices as usual.

Top nosh every time, I have been going to there shop for 45+ years. It all ways has a que outside but they are so quick to take and serve you you order your on the way home before you no it.

This was the Parliament Road shop which I have used since 1972 when it was on Union Street. The standard has always been good and always the same. I was served by a young chap, while two other staff were on standby. I was given a ticket and went to wait outside. Numerous people went in after me and all received shipping orders but no sign of my Egg Fu Yung. Eventually i was called in and given my meal. I mentioned that it had been a long time, as it was usually a lot quicker, chips in a tray, out the back, wok filled and fried, job done. The lad behind the counter said that it cant have been that long as he remembered my Teeshirt, I said I couldnt remember such bad service, thanked the other staff and left. Imagine when I got home and found they had done me a Spanish Omelete, the cocky little get probably didnt think I would notice. Well thats me and Y KChow finished after 48 years. I dont expect an apology and dont want one. They can stick it, none of the staff were recognisable, if this is the new order, god help them.

Best Chinese takeaway in the country I live in Darlington and I’d rather drive here than use the ones in the town food is always consistent and the curry sauce is to die for well done the chow family keep up the good work and beautiful food 👌

Not been here for a long time so got a takeaway on a Saturday night it was surprisingly quiet now I know why it has gone down hill the chips were very very greasy and like warm my portion of mushrooms were raw the curry sauce was bland and my special chow mein was oily and bland with only 3 prawns in I’m afraid it’s a no from me

I've been coming here for 37 years and I've known the couple who run this place longer than some of my best friends!!! Brilliant place and I travel from far to get their unique curry sauce.

The background: my wife has been a patron of "Olly Street" since she was 7. Me? Since 18.At that time we'd never met. Now married for 37 yrs (been together much longer).YK CHOW is, probably, the best & most original "Chinese Chippy" anywhere. The family started it. The family continue to own it. Long may that continue.No Michelin stars here (though some star givers might be gobsmacked by what's on offer here - if they dared to lower themselves to street level).Tonight I readily tucked into Special Chop Suey with a pot of extra curry. I bought scallop & another pot of curry for tomorrow's breakfast.Wendy chose Prawn Curry (she's never had anything but that from here in 50odd years!).Everything on the menu is properly prepped & cooked. 5 star hygiene rating. Quality does not vary. Always tastes as it should. Time after decade after generation.The best thing? Everything is very affordable & portion sizes are huge.Anyone visiting anywhere near Middlesbrough really must visit this takeaway. You'll meet a fine section of humanity in the queue (usually out the door). But don't let that put you off cos like so many back street secrets in Bahamas, Jamaica or Thailand - the locals have been enjoying it for years.

Really nice. Would like a few more things on the menu. It's a bit of a Middlesbrough institution, try the curry. Absolutely superb with the fried rice and chips. The chips are cooked properly and browned to perfection. If you want a quick snack. Get the potatoe scallops. And a carton of curry.

YK Chow is As synonymous as the Boro parmo. Their curry n chips with scraps are like a Boro lads n lasses gourmet delight. Not only that their fish n chips are as good as any from Whitby been using this reverend little chippy since 1980 and the food has never changed.always top of the pops

Not sure I would call it genuine Chinese food, but I love this place. The curry sauce, chips, and potato scallops are amazing! I live in London nowadays but always love returning here...

The best special egg foo yung, fried rice I've tasted in Middlesbrough. Sausage special isn't one to miss either. No complaints, food has always been delicious.

This is a proper old school English style Chinese the menu is tiny it’s basically chow mein , rice , curry’s and omelettes but what I will say is the chow mein and chips and curry sauce are proper nice ! Tasty as they come the chips are real home cooked chips like your Nan used to make ! Overall even though the menu is small what they do they do well and it’s clean and cheap so you can’t complain

Haven’t been here for a while so thought id call in as was passing.as usual food great and reasonable prices and decent service.don’t be fooled by appearance of shop inside and out and be wary of some odd characters in and around shop but reputation speaks for itself.

Curry sauce is lovely, but got about 10 chips swimming in grease and all mushed up stuck together portions are pathetic wouldn’t return unless I just wanted to pick a carton of curry up and get fish and chips from elsewhere seriously one to avoid

I visited this takeaway today and just to echo an earlier reviewer: the customer service provided by the man behind the counter is awful. He hates you asking him to cook something that isn't cooked already. He turns away, grunts and refuses to make any form or conversation. Just mutters that you have to come back then refuses to make conversation, telling you that "he's not bothered about that...I've got to get through the end of the day". Avoid this place like the plague.

Best place going can’t trust anywhere else now rather come ere instead!
