Excellent community pub. Great beer, friendly atmosphere and very dog friendly.

Got a couple of pints here, the staff were lovely. Can't wait to go back. Didn't get food so can't speak for that

A very lively pub. Owned by the community. Lots of interesting beers on tap. No food served. Recomend if you want a place chat and enjoy a drink. No TV or piped music.

It must be at least 15 year since my last visit, but I can say that the Ye olde Cross which is now a community run pub is 10× better & welcoming to families with their bairns & walkers.. even better you can fetch ya derg in. Beer selection is most excellent with a good choice of Cask, Keg, cans & bottles.. there's also a canny selection of bottles & can in the fridges with a choice to take out. As for the food.. the Ye Olde Cross offers some very, very good bar snacks from crisps & samosas to some tremendous gourmet locally sourced Scotch eggs. Will I return for another visit? Oh yes! And it won't take 15 year for it to happen

Incredible pub, run amazingly by Mick and the team. This is our local, and we hope, like everyone else I'm sure, that the team who run it, stay, or at least what they offer the community, is kept and unspoiled. Great selection of drinks, which is refreshed regularly, with plenty of activities throughout the week, both night and day. We had a party here recently too, after coming here for the past few years, and it was faultless.

Ye Olde Cross is by far the best pub in our local area. Having been in many years ago before it closed, and seeing what it's now become, you wouldn't think it was the same place! It doesn't matter what day you go, it's always buzzing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of community events and activities to keep everyone entertained. The drinks selection is second to none also, there's something for everyone. Numerous food pop up events and takeaway opportunities too. A must visit bar if you're in the area.

What a fantastic pub! There's an outstanding selection of beers (AF too), some wonderfully friendly staff, they're dog friendly (kid friendly too) and have outdoor spaces for those sunny days. They regularly host open mic nights, comedy nights and have a selection of food vendors most weekends. I'm certain you would struggle to find a better establishment!

I think this is my new favourite pub. Looks amazing, friendly staff behind the bar, a great selection of beers and to top it off the music taste is exquisite. To go from Spandeau Ballet to Max Richter - Spring. Keep it up guys!

Lovely, super welcoming community run pub. From the greeting you get from the bar staff, through the amazing selection of drinks available to the decor, everything is friendly, accessible, and cool. We often get into chats with other people in the pub because its one of those rare places where everyone feels at home. Great atmosphere, best selection of beers anywhere in the North East and a really interesting programme of events in their lovely upstairs space plus pop up food vans most weekends. Also fully wheelchair accessible.

Only had a pint very busy for a Friday but allways is , great atmosphere.

First time here. Atmosphere very chilled. Familiies and couples. Huge selection of drinks, and they had a pizza van outside, doing a roaring trade. Dog friendly and lots of them, so quite a bit of noise from them. Lovely location.

Didn't eat here so no comment on that. Facilities a little dated. But clean. Popped in after a date night. Wonderful people. Friendly staff. Great selection of beers. Including a fridge with weird and wonderful brews. Highly suggest anything by Kernel Brew The church down the hill is definitely worth a look around too if you like old stuff

Brilliant community pub with a great range of exciting beers. We spent a Sunday afternoon in the beer garden and enjoyed lobster and chips from the food van. Service was slow, but it was worth the wait.

Great pub run & supported by the local community in Ryton. Outdoor seating to the front and rear. Very good selection of real ales & craft beer. Friendly staff. Regular pop-up varied Street food available. All in all this pub is well worth a visit!

Called in for a glass of wine after a dog walk along the river. The bar staff was very friendly, recommended the house white which was very nice. Good selection of craft beers too. Overall pleasant community pub. Dog friendly.

Just a fantastic pub with great staff. Patrons are superb, friendly and this is one of those pubs where you just feel at home and can have good times. No loud music, no tv (that I can see), just a great selection of drinks, good food, great atmosphere and the occasional comedy or music night. Highly recommend. Oh aye, it’s dog friendly to boot! Love it!

Great Pub with a good selection of ales and wine. Brilliant staff too, friendly and helpful. Lovely setting in the centre of old Ryton village.

Always a great atmosphere and huge selection of beers. The staff are friendly and you are made to feel welcome. Very often local food vans will be on site and you can eat the food within the pub. Either a quiet drink with your partner or a few beers with friend, you can’t go wrong.

Extra special place. The vibe and atmosphere makes perfect sense when you learn that about 500 people of the local community own it. The only community-owned pub in the Tyne Valley; and run by the fantastic Mick and Hannah. Plus great cask and keg beer and lager!!!! Plus a massive range of canned beer and lager! Plus great whisky!! Ask for Whisky of the Month or better still come to the Whisky Club, 7.30, second Wednesday of the month. £15, blind tasting four whiskies. Brilliant!

I'm slightly biased as I'm one of the hundreds of community shareholders who own the pub. The ever rotating beer selection is excellent, always something for cask and keg drinkers. The options for everyone else seem popular too. Regular pop up food vendors at the weekends but always reliable for a packet of crisps or two to wash down the pints. Great place, family friendly, really canny.

Lovely local with great selections. Only downside is that it always seems to be full of kids (no matter what time we go) which dampens the pub experience for us.

Fab comedy night on 17th March 2022. Comedians were excellent, friendly atmosphere and great range of drinks available.

Absolutely amazing pub , what a gem to have in Ryton offering a truly unique sense of community. The drinks offer is outstanding, with many ales being updated to freshen selection's, quite often (mainly over the week end) there's a street food outlet in the outdoor section, which is lovely when you've had a few beers! Overall 10/10

Stopped off on a lovely autumnal walk for a swift half 🍻. Very warm welcome, outside seating at the front under canopies with fleece blankets on chairs for those chilly evenings. Lovely indoor seating as well as beer garden to the rear. Pop up food from MasterChef professional semi- finalist, not tried yet but highly acclaimed.
