Yates Sheffield in Sheffield

Visited 2 weeks ago on a Sunday evening, had giant yorkshire, more like a pancake, dry potatoes and peas dry, had to spoon the gravy out it was that thick and sausages were very pale, my friend had curry, the nann bread was more like a very small American pancake, also not very hot, wondered if they've changed suppliers as food has been ok on previous visits

It's a Yates, it's what you would expect

Food was awful, and mash was solid like bell metal Even instant mash tastes better sausages was cooked 3 days ago and you couldn't even get extra Yorkshire pudding if you wanted one even though there clearly frozen gravy was also rank we did leave it couldn't eat it at all daughter had something else and hers was worst than ours dry rubber chicken cheap cranberry over all would NOT recommend EVER eating here again disgusting we even had to ask for knifes n folks cos there forgot to give them to us

Staff very miserable and unfriendly atmosphere

Food was lovely really hot the only thing that let the place down it was freezing inside the pub so we sat eating with our coats on

We chose this pub as it looked clean and inviting and had plenty of free tables. After our experience we now know why the two nearby Wetherspoons were so full. We ordered the food which in itself took a while. After half an hour of waiting for our meals we asked how much longer the food would be and were told a further 5 to 10 minutes. We waited another 20 minutes but two of us had to leave soon as we had a show to watch so we asked how long. We were again advised it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. The staff didn’t seem too concerned. We decided to ask for a refund for two of the meals as we needed to leave. The girl didn’t quibble and gave a refund although I had to query that as it didn’t add up to the amount of the two meals being refunded. We went back to the table and as me & my daughter were putting our coats on to leave the waitress bought our two meals to the table. She said it would have been thrown away so we may as well have it. The rest of the meals followed. My daughter rushed her jacket potato which was small and hardly any topping. I took my burger with me but when I have checked the menu today to compare, it wasn’t the burger I ordered at all! The all day breakfast my husband had was burnt and had a sausage and tomato missing, it was dry and unappetising. My grandchildren had a meal and the mash was cold and hard. My son in laws dinner was tepid. It was a total disaster. The waitress said the delay was due to the Christmas market but I’m sure it is the same every year so surely they should be prepared. We should have asked for the rest of the meals to be refunded. It did get busier in there but not many seemed to be ordering food and now we know why. We will never use this bar again. I hate giving bad reviews but on this occasion it is justified. On a positive note the waitressing staff were apologetic at the end.

Average food, didn't wait long for food to arrive, staff are all polite and friendly... However allergen training for front of house needs doing. Asking for an allergen sheet for the children's menu to just be told, we'll it's same as adults, is not acceptable unfortunately. (It wasn't the same, it was a completely different menu, yes they may use the same base line ingredients, but the actual components of adults dishes and children's dishes were different. Ie adults burger was topped with various ingredients with allergens in, yet he could have the children's burger as the allergens weren't in the actual burger) This was rectified in the end by another server getting the chef to come and show her the allergen guide on the till system so we could actually order, who were both very pleasant, polite and helpful.

Ordered 2 miniature prosecco & one was full & other wasn't I took it back to bar & showed manager &; he refused to change it When we poured it .one was flat But because of the attitude of bar manager we didn't want to challenge it any further Also we ordered food & it was cold

I like very much this place, maybe because I am over 30. This pub has nice oura, music is good, tasty food. Staff is nice and helpful. Place is friendly for disabled people. Before evening it's nice place to sit and chat. Eat something, drink beer. At the evening is more loud and it turns to more party place

Visited with my granddaughter and her two girls .food was delicious and good value . Asked if they had any thing for the girls to colour on . Member of staff owner ? apologised as they hadn't but he went to the supermarket next door and bought them a magazine which they could colour in with the crayons he gave them unexpected and really thoughtful

It was all about the atmosphere pub come club good music good people just a bit slow at the bar staff really good

Asked specifically what time kitchen closed at 8pm. 20h30pm was the answer. When ordering 10min before last order (20h20) was told that the chef had decided to close the kitchen early. Absolutely ridiculous service/standards.

Only ever been here for drinks but decided to come in for some food as it was the only place open nearby (other than spoons). I got the Thai curry and waffle fries and wow it was so yummy 😍 would definitely recommend.

The steak was over peppered, but cooked satisfactorily. The service was a bit perfunctory. Several years ago I rated it 4☆, it's now declined to a 3☆. I hope the standard doesn't keep on sliding downhill.

We went at 7pm. The music was so loud we couldn't talk to each other. We expected some music but it was ridiculously loud. We had booked a table, but when we turned up we didn't know where to go. There was no one around, so we went to the bar. Stood there for 5 mins before anyone came to us. I finally went up to 3 people standing in the kitchen area and said we have a table booked. They seemed rude and like I was inconveniencing them. When we got to the table it had no table number so we couldn't order on the app. I eventually asked someone what table it was. There was a young gent there that was very polite and apologised for any wait but the wait time wasn't too bad. But the women there were very hostile, rude, and walked around like they hated their job. On the plus, the 241 cocktails were lovely, however, we won't be going back there.

Nice bar with plenty of seating and lovely drinks at reasonable prices!

Great bar staff, really friendly. The small plates were good value and very nice. A good pre-match pub showing games on the big screen.

Nice food, obviously a busy place, lucky to get a table. Tables were sticky and in need of clean but yo be fair as I said it was busy and a Saturday

Good music, bit loud tho.... Couldn't have a conversation with friends so we left and went to another lively bar top of fargate where still great atmosphere, busier and music but we could actually speak to each other.... Probably why Yates wasn't busy no one could hear each other.... We loved the music but we couldn't actually speak to each other which defeats the point of going out.

Definitely avoid this tent. Doormen at the door already radiate aggression towards large groups in advance, even though a reservation has been neatly made. The manager has absolutely no say in the matter.

An Australian guy served us and he was very nice and friendly. Had a few jokes with him. Vegan food was lovely deffo recommend we go ofter for drinks and food

We were served by an Australian man named Nick, he was absolutely amazing. He catered to our needs regarding drink pretences and our song preferences. He ensured we were comfortable regarding music preferences and advised us of the best places to go around Sheffield. He was extremely enthusiastic and kind, whilst maintaining professionalism. Nick is an outstanding bartender and he ensured we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Yates in Sheffield. We will attend again, particularly just to receive the service from him.

Place to be on a Saturday night! Whether your someone who likes to have a dance or want somewhere to sit down with some atmosphere. Amazing friendly staff always feeling welcome. Best DJ in town playing songs for everyone. Been going there regularly and will carry on. If you’re looking for somewhere to have a dance before you hit the nightclubs in the early hours or even if your a someone who goes home early but would love a boogie before this is the place to go. Opened till 1am. Never fails this place 10/10 each week.

Visited Yates before going to see leigh Francis "Keith 🍋 Lemon. Had a few drinks and ordered a burger and chips my misses had chicken sub. Can't say there was a thing wrong with any of it at all. Was better than i thought it was going to be and good prices. Nice 1

Decent enough service and a nice, clean, space. But honestly an -awful- pint of Guinness. Hoping it was just a bad day to pop in and I'm looking forward to coming back soon to change my review to a 5.

Food was average and drink prices ott £10 for a cocktail which was served in a normal half pint glass ..not good enough and too expensive. Food was below par burger was dry and fell apart ..few chips nope never again sorry

Last time I went, this happened: I went to Yates a couple of weeks ago - it took about 15 minutes to place an order as the price was showing as different to what was on the menu, so the manager had to come and try to sort it. The food then took over half an hour to arrive; when it did finally arrive, I had to call the member of staff back over as the food order was wrong (they’d given me the wrong burger!) so they made me a fresh one - this arrived about 40 minutes after ordering, having been in there for an hour by this point. Then after finishing my dinner a mouse ran across the floor not 4 foot away from where I had just eaten… Not much was given by way of apology either, just a “oh sorry about that!”. 100% wish I’d gone elsewhere that night. This time I went: had a voucher for some free drinks. They tried the voucher and it didn’t work; the barman said “we’ll do them anyway” so proceeded to make them. The voucher then didn’t work still so another barmaid came and said “oh actually we have to charge you for them.” And tried to change me £31 off the back of it. Despite me having a perfectly valid birthday voucher. I asked to speak to the manager, explained the situation, and was met with bluntness and rudeness, disregarding previous experiences and disregarding the issue I was now faced with. Why email an offer if the offer doesn’t work? Especially after my past experience. 1* review, will avoid like the plague (oh the irony given the vermin problem) and will be writing to the general/area manager as this experience is utterly unacceptable. 0* customer service. Having worked in hospitality for many years I could not imagine putting the customers through what they do here. Will also be reporting to council for mouse problem.

Don't use the app to order - they wouldn't give me the free drink I was supposed to get with my meal because I ordered on their app.

The music was SO LOUD, it hurt my ears. I sat with my fingers in my ears and could still hear every lyric of each song, everything being said to me and around me. We cam in so my partner could watch the darts. I had an awful time because the music was so loud. No complaints about the service or the products. Very nice staff and my drink was nice. But the volume of the music dominated my visit

Not too bad pub food. Some were great others not so good. Will definitely recommend the katsu chicken. Didn't have any alcohol so can't say much about the bar.

Never got to try the food as the table we booked was occupied. People were standing shoulder to shoulder altogether an unpleasant experience

Wouldn't even give them a one if I could. Booked a table for 7. I understand 7pm will be busy but it was ridiculous. No organization at all, was told to go upstairs to tell them I was here , queued 10 minutes after telling the bar staff I was next after several push in's to be told to go back down stairs and battle the crowd. Then was told to go back up stairs!!! No one had a clue! They should not be allowed to do food booking when they have a disco on . It's ridiculous!! Never experienced anything like it.

Really good food at exceptionally good price

Atmosphere was okay, nothing too special just your generic pub ( no issue there). However, I ordered a pub classic, sausage and mash with peas. Peas were frozen rock solid and sausage evidently barely cooked. I have just gotten home to have my stomach not agree with the food paid for and thrown up majority of my plate. Of course I had no expectations for the food as it was only £10 although for the place to actually be open and licensed to sell food you would hope it would be cooked. This alongside with having to pay an aiddtional £2 for a small pot of gravy! If I could have a refund I’d ask however the staff there appeared as the saying one would say “the lights are on but nobody is in” therefore, I won’t be wasting anymore of my time requesting a refund for the rest of my table. If you are to book or take a chance in ordering food don’t bother, stick to Wetherspoons for a cheap alternative ;)

Went in to watch Blades v man City.. was OK ish not great service at bar, bit on slow side and they wasn't that many waiting to get served,god help them later on when party crowd come to town..yeah it's Okay..

Bouncers assaulted a woman and threw her out of the pub for taking her shoes off while dancing. Shocking that they think this is acceptable in any way. Hopefully the police were informed of this and all the bouncers involved are fired.
