Yamas in Cardiff

An ideal place for a romantic dinner.

Normalmente nunca escribo reseñas, pero la terrible experiencia en Yamas esta noche me ha obligado a hacerlo... Pedimos un plato de mezze vegetariano para dos, la parte central de este mezze era un pimiento horneado relleno de arroz. Cuando llegó informamos al personal que todavía estaba congelado en el interior. Después de una espera de 20 minutos reemplazaron el pimiento y dijeron que ofrecerían un descuento en la comida. Esperábamos que esto fuera al mínimo 50% de descuento en la comida desde que salió CONGELADO! Cuando llegó la factura habían descontado 3 libras. 40 … . . También agregaron un 12. Cargo por servicio del 5 %. Simplemente un servicio increíblemente decepcionante, comida y una falta total de decencia.

Muchas opciones en el menú. Buena comida. Generosas porciones. Buena relación calidad-precio. Buen servicio. Sencillo pero buen lugar. Todo junto muy buena experiencia. ¡Simples!

As soon as we entered, we could see the tables were full and people looked happy. Some customers left after finishing their meals, but it took a while for the staff to clear the tables. There was just one person taking orders, seating guests, serving food and drinks, and clearing tables whenever he could. It was clearly very busy. Two staff members were in the kitchen cooking food. There were also takeaway orders, and people waited at the bar to be seated. Despite everything, the all-in-one staff member always had a smile and was very polite. We ordered Chicken grill gyros and lamb kufe which was really delicious and so softy and juicy, but we were full at the end of meal. Will surely visit again

After waiting 45minutes from the time we ordered our food, we left cancelling our food. The wait was very poor

Found this place by chance when we were doing a city break in Cardiff last week. Would definitely go back if we're in Cardiff again.

We got the moussaka, the pastitsio, the saganaki with honey, and the lamb skewer and it was all brilliant! The saganaki and lamb skewer I'd say we're particular standouts but it was all quite good.

What a lovely place! Friendly staff, clean, warm, great food, great price … highly recommend!! The food was wonderful, very authentic. I cannot explain how amazing this little place is. You will not be disappointed.

First time eating here and we were warmly greeted by Tyla (hope I’ve spelled this correctly). Food was delicious and arrived quickly, very generous portions and nice cocktails. Tyla was attentive and efficient throughout. We will come here again :)

Whilst the food was lovely and the young waitresses were polite and accommodating the owner was sat behind the bar on her phone most of the time, presumably on face time, and watching us, making us feel uncomfortable. This was my second time visiting and i experienced similar things. This created a tense atmosphere as we felt quite uncomfortable.

Mi marido y yo vinimos aquí el fin de semana pasado y ambos pensamos que era delicioso! El personal era amable y asertivo. El restaurante tiene una decoración encantadora que lo hace acogedor. Pedimos el plato de compartir Yiasou que pensamos que era muy buena relación calidad-precio. La carne era sabrosa y la presentación general de la comida era muy atractivo. Sin duda recomendaría venir aquí si te gusta la comida griega. Sin duda volveríamos de nuevo!

So yummy and generous quantities!!

Have ordered before through Delivoo and it was excellent. Ordered today again, waited 40 minutes for it to arrive, then got a phonecall from Deliveroo saying the restaurant was closed and they were unable to contact them. Am waiting for refund but until I googled, there was no indication that it was closed

Really gutted! We had booked for a family members birthday today (as it was his favourite place to eat!) had email confirmation of the booking. We all met up today excited to go to and eat the lovely Greek cuisine. We all turned up to the restaurant to see the shutters down and absolutely no one there at all. We had brought the birthday cake ready for after the meal! Very disappointed that the booking was accepted and had all of the family meet (who don’t live in Cardiff either) and we weren’t informed whatsoever that the restaurant would’ve been closed!!! Really was unprofessional and upsetting as this was something that all of us were looking forward to, to celebrate a birthday!!

Best greek food in Cardiff! Pork gyros is superb!

El lugar era una buena representación de un restaurante típico griego, fácil de llevar y colorido. Los entrantes eran razonables y agradables, pero faltaban los complementos normales que más se asocian con las tradiciones griegas. Plato principal Giros o pinchos, estándar no especial de ninguna manera por el precio! Tenía la kleftiko que tenía un costo, pero como había disfrutado de esto antes por su ternura y sabor, no me importó pagar más, apareció pálida y tan sin sabor que podría haberse cocinado en un lavavajillas. No gastar mi dinero allí de nuevo. La cerveza era más cara de lo que tenía que ser a £ 4 la botella pequeña en absoluto en espíritu griego. No le doy a este restaurante mucho tiempo en el negocio ya que la gente no es tonta.

El servicio era muy pobre y no parecían saber sobre el menú. ¿No hay alcohol disponible? La comida llegó y era grasienta. No volveremos.

Mi abogado nos reservó y tuvimos nuestra mesa esperando en un buen lugar cuando llegamos allí. Le habían llamado en las semanas o le dijeron que tenía que proporcionar su propio alcohol, lo que era raro ya que nos dieron una lista de bebidas, pero luego nos dijeron que no había alcohol disponible cuando lo comprobamos. El lugar bullía un sábado por la noche, pero parecía estar luchando, ya que el personal consistía en una señora que le decía a un montón de niños adolescentes lo que debían hacer. Tardó un buen rato en ser servido, pero cuando el juego de comida era agradable y abundante. Solo tienes la impresión de que este lugar, que cerró por una semana o más temprano en el año por alguna razón, podría tener algunos problemas.

The food was lovely, we had a mixed pork and chicken gyros, the meat was really yummy and so was the veg and sauce. The bread was also really nice. Definitely recommend this place. The interior was also very lovely and the staff were nice. Very nice place.

Food was OK but nothing special. Service was friendly but the staff are inexperienced. Food was brought to table & when we asked what it was, the server replied “I don’t know”. Atmosphere is poor, the place is loud, very echoey.

The service was friendly and quick, there was plenty of options on the menu, really decent prices for the amount and quality of food you receive. The food we had was very very tasty, and my pina colada was lovely! I would definitely recommend this place.

We ate here last night the food is amazing it’s definitely vale for money & you get huge portion sizes it’s a fantastic place The only criticism I have is there was only one waiter working if he was taking our order and other customers csme in to the restaurant, he would leave our table and go and sit them down which I thought was a bit rude but wasn’t his fault as he was on his own so maybe they could have another waiter working

Ideal place close to The Globe for a concert we were attending. We both had the chicken gyros and for £14 i had expected more chicken. It is scattered on chips to make it look a decent amount but really wasnt that much. Looking at other peoples orders maybe we just went with the wrong thing. I did also order the greek salad. Hard to go wrong on that and it was very nice. One thing I did think was a micky take was charging 80p for a small pot of tomato sauce my son wanted for his chips!

Amazing!!!! The food, the staff, the atmosphere Amazing. Sylvie& her Papa offered authentic Greek cuisine and culture experience highly recommended the staff were 5 star highly recommended.

The food is delicious but it was an hour later than requested and needed re-heating. Ordered at 640 and requested 730 delivery time but arrived at 825.

Favourite of ours always top class food and service

First visit here after being recommended by a friend and wow didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend booking a table as it was full and a wait for walk ins. It's not a massive place but very quaint and Greek. We went specifically to try the yiasou platter for 2 which for £30 was amazing, loads of hot pitas and crispy fries topped with chicken and pork kebab meat and 4 skewers on top chicken, beef pork and some kind of Sausage. You get to pick 2 sauces and the feta sauce was stunning and we wish we had ordered 2. All staff were busy but super friendly and polite. Wine was nice and a steal and £5 for a small glass. Overall would definitely recommend and will be back, great food, great service another one to add to our favourites 😊

The food was delicious, and the drinks were cold, authentic decor overall a lovely place.

Put in a bog order of 8 meals (takeaway) which yamas handled well, no missing food and everything was labelled. The food quality and portions were excellent, standard value for money in the city, better value than going to a burger place these days. Will definitely use them again, everyone else was happy with their food too, lots of compliments to yamas. Can't recommend enough

They have just re-opened and is already better than any of the restaurants in the area food and service is amazing and it is a very beautiful place very picturesque highly recommended

Good food and service but me and my work colleague was the only two in the place so was a very dead atmosphere but apart from that was decent.

No delays in getting the food which were very large portions.

Food was cold when it showed up. Also ordered a side of grilled halloumi for £5 and all we got was two tiny strips. This is the second time we've tried to order from you, the first time it never even showed up. Will not be ordering again.

Woweee!! Some of the best Greek food we have had! Service with lots of smiles- every single member of staff was so hospitable and attentive. We’re actually sad that we don’t live in Wales & can’t just pop here on a regular basis because it is excellent. The platters were amazing & such good value for money… so big that we couldn’t finish it despite our best efforts!! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Cardiff. Thanks guys!

I had the lamb skewers with pitta, fries and salad. The lamb was tender and delicious and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Ordered food to the tune of nearly £100 this evening - not arrived and exceptionally rude when questioned about where it is was told ‘take it up with Deliveroo’ 6 people waiting to eat.

We ordered and it never arrived we phoned and the women was so rude not her problem!!!

Came here tonight with my partner, mother in law and daughter for my birthday, staff were amazing food amazing and just made to feel so welcome, they even sang happy birthday with a slice of cake!! Even tho everything was great big shout out to the 2 girls waitressing took time to talk and laugh... thank you.

Concept: After attending the Sunday worship at Urban Crofters church, i and my friend Matt were both hungry. After scanning various menus from pubs and Italian restaurants, we both agreed to enjoy a Greek lunch. Order: A pastitsio. Price: £15.00. Quality of food: Top (7*). Behaviour of staff: Helpful/Polite (6). Service: Relatively slow (3). Well, let's be honest. For me, it was entirely ok. But if I would like a restaurant to have a quick lunch break (applicable to people working from home), I wouldn't come here. Atmosphere: Relaxing with traditional Greek music (7*).

We booked Yamas for our company afternoon garden party and they were absolutely excellent. Everything was seamless - food was outstanding and plenty available for everyone. They had a nice set up that looked Instagram worthy too and just lovely warm service that put everyone at ease. Would definitely book them again or recommend to family and friends for an event!

It was the biggest rip-off I've ever had. Would rather saw off my fingers than return there.

Ate here yesterday 4 adults two children. Tsatsiki was just yoghurt no cucumber or garlic. Pork souvlaki was fatty and very salty, chicken was the same. My daughter in laws chicken dish was appalling. I have never had anything less Greek. Over priced would not reccomend. Our visit was for a special occasion which was spoilt.

Came in late with a very large group. We had called ahead and arranged it and the staff were very accommodating. The food was fantastic and staff were very friendly when serving us. A definite recommendation!

First visit to Yamas, last night and it won't be long before we go back. We had the mixed meat platter for 4 and it was superb. Plenty of choice chicken, beef and pork plus loads of bread, fries and dips. I'm still full this morning!

This is probably one of my favourite restaurants in the city. I've eaten in a few times - including with kids - and its been fantastic. The food always looks and tastes great. Its equally as good as a takeaway and has become my go-to place. The portion sizes are very generous and the quality is high.

Food is good but does take ages to come out. I think we waited nearly an hour for 2person sharing platter. When we chased them, they just said they were plating it right now but food still didn’t arrive until 15min after that. Food arrived luke warm not hot. Not sure if it was a one time thing/mistake but everyone who came before us had food before us.
