It is quite clear that the place is under new ownership as it is not the same cafe as the photos and reviews present it to be. Made a detour here as the photos of the food looked incredible, however when I walked in and saw the menu had very limited breakfast options (small or large full English, eggs on toast and toast with jam) I was immediately disappointed. The interior has changed from previous photos from a nice looking cafe to a more kitchen diner vibe. We ordered a small and large full English- the sausage, beans and eggs were okay, hash browns were greasy and did not taste nice and bacon was overcooked. The staff were pleasant and the service was okay. Just please don’t be deceived by the former photos and reviews, they should really be removed as it isn’t actually the food the place is serving.

I assume this place is under new owners because the breakfast we received was not like the photos. We made a long detour to this place in hope of getting a decent coffee.. that hope was immediately dashed when a mug of milky water arrived purporting to be my Flat White (you know the kind). Breakfast was an average greasy spoon. No Eggs Benedict in sight. Nice location and shop nevertheless.

Great little breakfast place. Perfectly cooked, nice big mug of tea, fresh eggs you can taste! Life-safer on the road - didn't bother with over-priced bland hotels. Friendly family-run.

Nothing like the photos posted. Food was extremely basic, nothing special. Water for tea was lukewarm. Chips burned. Bread: cheap tasteless. They don’t sell pizza, or anything fancy.

Solid breakfast. Had the full English! Decent coffee and hard standing parking for motorbikes! Little gem!

As a restaurant I'm sure it's fine but as a farm shop very limited indeed. Came up as a farm shop on Google but really doesn't fit that description. People lovely though.

Friendly staff and interesting place. My partner was attracted by prospect of good coffee and whilst she enjoyed it, felt it was too hot (I’m told a perfect latte should be warm but not too hot to drink straight away).

Great veggie breakfast here, shame we were told we couldn’t change the poached egg to a fried egg as the chef was too busy. Might I add that another party member had a fried egg in their bacon bap so we couldn’t see how it would have taken any more time to fry another egg rather than poach it. Egg therefor didn’t get eaten unfortunately. Also sausage on the meaty breakfast was mostly raw but we didn’t want to cause any further hassle for the busy chef. Would return and try lunch/ dinner, maybe breakfast isn’t a strong point….

On a short break in the region and having read the reviews we popped in here for breakfast! Not the cheapest around but went for the large fried breakfast and paid £1 extra for black pudding. The food served was cold and poorly cooked! The sausages were fine to look at but almost raw when cut. Poached eggs were solid and hard and the hash brown was completely soggy on the underside! As for the single portion of black pudding it was overcooked and tasteless! On a plus side the Coffees was lovely and surprisingly compared to the food was hot! To add a further insult the couple next to us ordered the same and we almost had a steam facial from the heat coming off their plates.(this wouldn’t have made any difference to the bland and flavour less food we were given! Sadly never to return or recommend!

I enjoyed delicious vegan pizza and garlic bread here on a rainy Thursday evening. The bases are authentic and delicious, with plenty of topping.

It was ok, i’d heard great reviews but it was only ok, i probably wouldn’t return. Breakfast didn’t taste like good quality produce, coffee was pretty poor, the flat white/latte’s consistency was out they therefore were unable to produce any latte art. £6 for takeaway tiramisu is extortionate.

Tiny sandwiches that are overpriced compared to most places. Leaves you hungry. Lovely quality though and lovely people too.

Had the most delicious gluten free pizza and aperol spritz after a very long day! The place has a great vibe to it.

Quaint, cozy and charming local café-bar with a strong community connection and bohemian atmosphere that is open and welcoming to everyone. Food is simple but utterly spectacular, the staff are the friendliest most welcoming people you'd hope to meet. Highly recommended.

Used to be the best breakfast around, but the quality of the ingredients has really changed. Not what it used to be, now it's just like anywhere else, dishing out a consistently average breakfast.

I wanted something besides pizzas but the choice was limited. For 25 quid we got two tasty pizzas. Would recommend this place.

Didn’t really enjoy pizza there. Way too much cheese, I had to remove most of it as it felt like eating baked mozzarella not pizza margarita. Staff were very nice though and they found a table for us on a very busy evening.

Hidden gem! Beautiful little cafe/restaurant in a quiet village. Only popped in for a quick breakfast while staying in the area but will be returning for more. Good coffee too!

It's more of a café than a farm shop, which was our main reason for visiting, however managed to pick up a few items for the fridge and store cupboard. There was a chilled vibe in the establishment though, and that's a big plus for me.

I went hear on Tuesday I won't be going here again not very polite staff and a sausage and egg bap £6.50 and sausage bacon and egg bap £8.50 and it wasn't even nice sausage where burnt🔥. I work in this area quite often and will go to a garage I Am going to review in a minute in porthmadog half the price and nice well worth the 10 minute drive

Absolute find! In a small village tucked away in a beautiful valley, Y Garreg is turning out delicious plates that have been created with a knowledge and a love of food. Fantastic to find somewhere that also caters to allergies and intolerances so well. Make it a stop - a leisurely one on your way - or travel specifically. It's worth it. The shop is well-stocked with the makings of simple and exotic meals, local produce including fresh eggs and crafts. We didn't try any of the offerings at the bar but will be back!

Called into this cafe today, ordered a coffee asked about the cakes on the counter, were told they were reserved, asked about the soup on the board was told we dont serve food on a Monday. Are we talking about a cafe yes ! The coffee was £3.50 a cup so not cheap. Shame it was too bitter and too strong to drink. So that was a waste of time. Wont be going again. Sadly I was told the same thing by someone else.

We called in on Pizza night. They are very good and well worth the money. It was quite packed there so lots of the locals share my view of the quality.

Lovely place! We visit the area regularly and always go for our breakfast. They sell lovely items in their shop and the food is lovely! Friendly staff! Must go if you're nearby or passing.

The breakfast was so nice and so filling, highly recommend the full breakfast, all locally sourced and the poached egg was the best Ive ever had. Everything was just cooked to perfection and the staff were really lovely as well.

Cosy little light filled café with a cute farm shop supplying a varied selection of goods. We came for breakfast while we stayed in Beddgelert. (Great drive) The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Well presented, good size and most importantly really tasty produce! Staff were really friendly. Only downside, I live too far away to make it my regular 😉😉

Very small cafe and shop. Drinks were nice but a little pricey. Some nice little pictures to buy and a few small gifts, but again, a bit pricey.

Bought freshly made Halloumi Lettuce & Tomato (HLT) sourdough sandwiches to eat at the top of a mountain. They were beautifully made and tasted delicious!

Small little café but is a bit of let down by not fully open on Monday, only shop side are open and café is close.

I have eaten here on a couple of occasions and never been disappointed. The pizzas are exceptional, the passion for food and flavour is unmistakable. Pickles and pesto and prepared from scratch, the pizza bases are among the best i have ever had. The home made tiramisu is a thing of wonder, the texture alone makes the act of eating it a pleasure, the flavour is divine. The warm welcome and atmosphere of the staff and venue makes for a very pleasant experience all aided by the excellent wild horse beer on tap. Do not miss the opportunity to dine here.

Every time we’re in North Wales, we make sure we pay this cafe a visit. Interesting menu, great atmosphere and service and the food is of exceptional quality which you can tell chefs are passionate about. Best pizza we’ve ever tasted, no joke.

Yummy pizza and the side salad was so much more than it sounds… pomegranate seeds, cumin etc. very friendly and efficient staff, nice atmosphere, bit hippy Chique. Had run out of the highly praised Tiramisu so will have to return soon to try! Really enjoyed our meal, highly recommend it for a casual laid back occasion.

Wanted to stop here on our trip as it was one of the nicest looking farm/natural cafe shop, in the area that we wanted to explore. Spontaneously passed and really glad we did, beautiful selection of natural foods, produce and handmade crafts and tinctures. Bought some Owen Essence products and was told that they were handmade with the essence of natural plants not far from the shop! Lovely lovely place, highly recommend a visit for the best coffee (oat available) we've tried on our many visits to Wales. Also for the wonderful produce and banging sourdough loaves!

Best pizza I've had in a long while.

Great place for lunch, interesting menu well executed, have been a few times now & will definitely be going again.

I was walking in the area a few years ago and got chatting to a guy in the car park at nearby Croesor. He told me he was taking over the village shop at Llanfrothen, and the plans sounded interesting. I popped in once before CV19 hit, and was impressed - not just with the coffee and cake, but the fact that Love’s “Forever Changes” album was playing! I finally made it back yesterday and was massively impressed - great coffee and cake and the pizza was truly excellent. There’s lots of folks making really good pizza in Wales, but I reckon this was the best. Furthermore, this time Miriam Makeba was playing, which placed Y Garreg and its staff even more in my good books! What really makes this place though, is its clearly got a community/sustainable ethos. It was busy at 5pm, with friendly locals popping in for food and beer. Being in a part of Wales where the Welsh language has always been at the heart of the community, but is now under pressure, it was also good to hear the language spoken extensively. I really enjoyed visiting, and look forward to going again. Diolch yn fawr Y Garreg :).

What a great find! Searching for a decent coffee and a menu that was a little more veggie friendly… we found it. We ordered the veggie and vegan full breakfasts… Both were excellent. As well as serving great food and coffee, the store sells a range of locally/ethically sourced essentials, along with a few other items of interest. I think I also spotted a draught beer tap?? A great reason to go back. I will
