We went for lunch and we had for starters smoked salmon with apples, radish and cabbage coleslaw the corn fed chicken, mashed potatoes, picked onions and cherries tomatoes in a delicious jus , fish with potatoes, vegetable goulash for mains and for pudding: creme brule with coconut biscuit and raspberries and almond tart with cream and berries. Good service and excellent value for money too. £ 8.50 for 2 courses or £10 for a 3 course 👍

We had lunch today and the quality of the service from the students was excellent. The meal was superb, smoked haddock tart with horseradish cream, presented beautifully. Main course was braised Welsh beef with a mushroom sauce and vegetables, the beef was so tender and delicious. We really enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend this place. Already booked for the Christmas meal.

Excellent service, pleasant and helpful (student) staff. Very reasonable prices, taste and well presented food. I would recommend this place for lunch.

The restaurant itself is modern and spacious and the students pay every attention to detail. The lunchtime menu is a wonderful 3 course meal and there’s always plenty of choice, plus there’s a licensed bar. Our special thanks to all the students who served us and especially to Cameron who was a delight.

Fortunate enough I'm able to drop in and take advantage of dinner time specials that are always very tasty. A real treat coming here, friendly staff and such good value, always a pleasure.

The kitchen is divided from the restaurant by a glass wall so it’s great to watch the kitchen team at work. The lunchtime menu is a wonderful 3 course meal and there’s always plenty of choice, plus there’s a licensed bar. Our special thanks to Matt, our waiter today for a seamless service.

We’ve been to Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria, Deeside (Kelsterston College as was) many times for a great weekday meal and we’ve never been disappointed. Therefore when we were looking for a venue to host an afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon for 70 people to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary I asked the restaurant if they would consider doing such an event. I’m glad to say they said yes and they’ve worked with me over the months to ‘fine tune’ our requirements. I cannot shout the restaurant’s praises loud enough. We had an amazing afternoon, every single detail was taken care of. The students were all so lovely to our guests (who ranged in age from 2- 100 yrs). They’d set up a really nice little area for children to play/colour. The tables were beautifully laid out and the food was just exceptional – so well presented, and tasted out of this world. We had a selection of sandwiches and rolls followed by afternoon tea pastries: Coronation chicken on sun-dried tomato and olive bread Smoked salmon with infused crème fraiche, watercress on malted brown bread Classic egg salad with mustard on white bread Cucumber, minted crème cheese on spinach bread Boned ham with whole grain mustard, apple chutney on carrot and coriander bread Freshly baked sultana and plain scones with clotted cream, home-made lemon curd and strawberry preserve Selection of pastries and cakes. Everyone we’ve spoken to since the party has commented on the ‘top notch’ food and what a lovely venue it is for a celebration. The restaurant is licensed and has a large car park (which is always full during the week) but we had the whole car park on Saturday afternoon. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF AND STUDENTS INVOLVED IN OUR EVENT.

This was my first visit to the restaurant, which is situated on Coleg Cambria's Deeside campus. From the moment I walked through the restaurant doors, the service provided was brilliantly attentive, by being able to anticipate my needs and offer advice accordingly I was able to easily choose from the options on the menu and decided on the Beef Bourguignon. Once my order was taken, the meal came within 15 minutes, the food was brilliant; cooked to perfection and well presented. The atmosphere was relaxing and unhurried, and was complimented by the music playing in the background. Once I received the bill I was pleasantly surprised, as it was not what I had expected, I had been provided with a fine dining experience, but the cost did not reflect that at all. Overall, a great restaurant with excellent service and food whilst still being affordable, would definitely recommend!!!

Excellent 3 course lunch at Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria – Deeside (Kelsterston College as was). We always enjoy a superb meal at the training restaurant but this 3 course lunch was exceptional, possibly the best ever. We were welcomed as we came through the door and then seated at our table. There was a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. Our party all had different starters and mains (and we all swopped a bit so we could taste everything on offer). I had Steak Diane and it was prepared and flambéed at the table by Warren who was both confident and extremely capable. It was really good to watch him prepare the meal from scratch. For dessert two of us selected banana flambé and again it was Warren who prepared it at the table. He had a big group of 1st year students watching him as well as two tutors, but he really kept his cool and was extremely proficient – I just know he has a great career ahead of him. A big thank you to our waiter Nyall, who did an excellent job serving us and to all the staff who made this such a lovely afternoon. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

The atmosphere in this venue is always very friendly mainly because it is mostly used by those in the know it is surprisingly little known even in Connah's Quay were it is located. The food is always of a high standard, well presented and reasonably cheap; well worth a visit if in the neighbourhood

Esta pequeña joya de lugar aunque objetivo es enseñar a personal de catering del futuro es una verdadera ventaja. El costo de la comida es claro desde 10 libras por una comida de 3 platos es una verdadera comida estupenda. Con una decoración moderna y diseños no puedo recomendar este lugar a mucho!!! El servicio y la atención al detalle es muy bueno y rápido y eficiente pidiendo esperando. El ambiente es muy relajante, con nada que un problema para el personal el poder ver a los chefs en el trabajo es agradable y necesidades de dieta se ordenan muy rápidamente que hemos cenado en algunos lugares pero este lugar es real V F M

It was a birthday lunch and it was perfect, food was excellent and beautifully presented, our waitress was exceptional pleasant and helpful. The whole ambience was very nice, the tables weren't too close together and the atmosphere was very nice and friendly. Would definitely visit again and thoroughly recommend it.

The group of French visitors were treated to a 'Taste of Wales Menu' at the specially arranged evening for the twinning exchange visit between Broughton and Bretton and Auzeville Tolosane. The welcome was warm and the meal excellent. Various diets were careered for and the wine chosen to accompany the meal was met with approval by all. The students offered a high standard of service and the food was cooked and presented to a high standard. The supervisors were discreet and unobtrusive. Although students and staff were giving up their evening there was no pressure to eat quickly or vacate the premises. Normally only open at lunchtimes, and good lunches are on offer, this is a venue that is ideal for an evening function on request. Well done everyone. Future visits are in the pipeline.

I needed a restaurant with a "Welsh" flavour at short notice for 42 diners from Europe. They included people with no spoken English or Welsh, fussy diets and an age range from 4 to 87.Tricky?Not a bit. I exchanged 3 emails, pondered draft menus and had a 30 minute meeting with the restaurant supervisor a day or two before the event.The students delivered excellent food, good service and both the staff and the food were beautifully presented.OK some tables got quicker service than others, and yes the silver service occasionally was a bit "silver plate" - but the team there is closely supervised with discreet interventions by "the professionals" only when needed. Ive had worse service in much more expensive places. Thanks.

Student run restraunt open Tuesday to Friday lunch time. Exellent food at reasonable prices, with first class service. Definitely recommend.

Six of us booked a table for lunch at Y Celstryn and were delighted to see a table laid with care and attention to detail ,for everything shone with supervised perfection. The very young waiter took our order with a little nervousness but encouragement brought a smile and the promise that we were going to be treated well. Colleges have to train young pupils and perhaps we were a little intimidating because some of us had been to a funeral and were dressed formally.The lunch was well prepared , presented and colourful and as the meal progressed we all warmed to this interesting experience in a restaurant designed to train both chefs and waiting staff. I must say the room and adjoining room were appropriately furnished and decorated and you had the impresssion of being in a modern restuarant to which you would not hesitate to return with friends .The dessert proved a piece of real exciting theatre ,for Warren our waiter ,found himself preparing five Crepes Suzettes at the table. This he tackled with professional panache and the the flambé at the completion was much appreciated by all. Everyone agreed the dessert tasted special and Warren smiled to hear his success praised. Catrin cleared the table and Chelsea delivered our coffees and teas. We had enjoyed an excellent lunch at a very reasonable price. This restaurant is well worth a visit and we will return !Terry Ireland

The service of food was great was not waiting for the food for long and it was lovely. The price was very cheap for what you get. The staff where very friendly and helpful and always around to help. I was on the spring term special which included a three course a coffee at the end and a cocktail. so overall I had a great trip to y celstryn

Myself and two friends have today had an excellent lunch at Y Celstryn, the staff were very friendly and professional, a good choice of menu and the food was first class. I am already telling all my friends about it and can't wait to go there again. Well done to all the students.

This restaurant provides a wonderful platform for students to gain experience front of house and in the kitchen.Today we experienced a delightful welcome, good food and pleasant well mannered waiters and waitresses..We will definitely be back,not only because it is excellent value but a great opportunity to watch the students become more accomplished as the term progresses.

My friend and I go on a regular basis. Terrific value for money and the students and staff are so professional. The menu has a really good choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

Excellent value, great venue for students to show off there talents, and also use their gained knowledge.

This day time restaurant is well presented, the chefs and waitress' are very friendly and helpful and the food is pretty amazing
